I am not happy that I need to do a 1-star review - which is more for the business practices vs. the product. The flowers were exactly as ordered and delivered - it was very last minute. We were pleased with the actual arrangement. The full story: I ordered a stand-up floral spray from 1-800-FLOWERS for a funeral and wanted to add 6 boutonnieres but those were not available on the website. From the Heart Florist called to confirm and would add the boutonnieres and I would of course pay. They said it would be easiest to charge me direct for ALL (rather than the additional amount) and that they would cancel the 1-800-FLORIST order.....they never cancelled the original order, so I was essentially double-charged. I called the florist 3 additional times to try and resolve - mistakes happen, I was very understanding. Each time I was told that they would give Tiffani the message - no call was returned nor no action taken. Very disheartening and we were already dealing with grief. I will say that after 6 weeks of trying to resolve, I called 1-800-FLOWERS. I was not expecting that they would be able to do much especially since From the Heart marked their order as delivered. 1-800-FLOWERS immediately issued a refund and they were apologizing for an error that was not their own. The customer support for 1-800-FLOWERS exceeded expectations! It was their vendor, From the Heart, that missed the mark. read more

Last week I received the most beautiful bouquet via From The Heart Florists! My mother passed away last year, with Mother's Day right around the corner my BFF from Texas thought enough of me to have a local florist deliver flowers to me for the special occasion complete with a heartfelt note. The delivery person was respectful of my property when delivering my bouquet. As the delivery was unexpected, I found him to be patient and professional while collecting my signature and surrendering the bouquet. My flowers are absolutely beautiful! I am appreciative of the collaborative effort between my BFF and the Florist as the final product is both stunning and embodies my preferences regarding the floral arrangement. It is now six days later and my bouquet is still as beautiful as it was when it arrived. For those who are unfamiliar with floral deliveries, accidents can take place when the flowers can arrive damaged, missing or broken, however that was not the case. The driver took such wonderful care during transit and delivery which directly attributed to the great shape they are in almost a week later. From The Heart treated my 16 year old like a very valued customer, especially given that he ran in there at 4:50pm on a Friday blurting out "do you have peonies??!!" He wanted to give me a bouquet for HIS birthday, awwwwww. The bouquet they helped him make is a stunning late summer burst of joy! Yellow, green and white mixed flowers, all very fresh, beautifully wrapped with a huge yellow ribbon. I love it and especially love how helpful and friendly he said everyone was. Got the prettiest bouquet ever for my cousin's graduation. This is my fourth time coming to the store and purchasing their bouquets, leis, and plants. This is my usual go to for celebratory arrangements. They do have a website that shows all flowers for any occasions. I purchase the bouquet called "mother's embrace" it is very pretty. When I called to put in an order and ask to switch from vase to wrapping. The worker who place my order was very kind and patient to what I wanted for this arrangement. When I went to pick it up, the workers there answer all my questions such as if the bouquet need water or in the fridge. They assure me it would be find by the day of the graduation, they told me there was a water bag on the bottom and leaving the bouquet in a cool area with no direct sunlight. Excellent service and beautiful flowers For my grandma service, I was in the hunt for a square/ rectangular frame. It was quite challenging after contacting many florists. The 4 corner shape was on a backorder due to supply constrain. Luckily, I was able to get the last piece from this shop. Originally, I planned to order the wreath from online but since I came into the shop to get the frame. My family and I decided to order from here, plus they got a cool machine that could print in Chinese. We had 9 wreaths and they were nicely put together and each has a different vibe/color to it. I ordered a bouquet for my friend's anniversary from 1800flowers and got matched to this florist. I ordered a lavender bouquet . What I got was nothing closer to lavender. The bouquet I got is sitting in front of me and it feels like a few flowers were thrown together and tied. The only beautiful flower it has is white rose and white lilies. I am glad that the flowers were fresh and not old and crushed like I have seen in other reviews. One star goes to their flower quality and delivery service, that's all. Horrible in sooooo many ways. I ordered identical bouquets for a company event. A delivery attempt of only one of those bouquets was made 4 days before my delivery date and the flowers were brown on the edges and already wilting. The bouquet was not nearly as nice as what I ordered - I almost didn't recognize it - and the driver couldn't seem to follow the delivery instructions about getting into the building. I refused the delivery and called the florist. She pretty much blamed everything on 1-800-flowers, and was very rude - kept interrupting me several times and was practically yelling at times. I see several other bad reviews on YELP for them so I'm not the only one. And check out the photos between what people ordered and what they got - OMG. Mine wasn't that bad but still - not nearly worth what I paid. Thankfully 1-800-flowers refunded me in full. I'd give this florist no stars if I could. This is a nice neighborhood florist in Chinatown. I came right before closing and didn't spend much time in the shop but it is large and seemed to have good variety. I was looking for a pre-made bouquet. They only had one because they were closing up but it was beautiful and perfect for a birthday gift. It wasn't great being a middle man (I was putting in an order on behalf of my mother who was overseas) so I told the lady I would call back after texting all the flower options to my mother. Shortly after I called my mother and used my other phone to call the florist. I assisted my mother with putting in her order (I definitely wished my Cantonese was better but the standing spray was delivered and executed perfectly). As it was my mother and I's first time ordering flowers for a funeral, the florist made sure that we got what we wanted. We did wish we knew how the proper way to sign off the standing spray was supposed to be (ours was the only one in English at the funeral, but it was better than a misspelled character- I was already worried that there would be a typo!) Moving to a city from across the country can be stressful, hard and a bit taxing. So when signing a lease and dealing with apartments from across the country, you can imagine how annoying one can be to their future landlords/property managers with questions and concerns. That's me subtly putting that I was real nut case to deal with during my lease signing. When I arrived in Oakland and went to go get my keys in Chinatown, I wanted to pick something up for the nice girl who dealt with my frequent emails and phone calls; she deserved some love. Without spending mucho dinero, From The Heart had a few limited options of small potted plants. Definitely limited inventory for $10 and under, but at least they had a few. I walked into a few other shops and they had nothing under $30. I ain't got dough for that. I ended up spending about $10 on a little porcelain elephant with a green, leafy, low maintenance plant. Hard to kill, don't have to water often and cute. Perfect. The staff ended up being pretty nice and although it's not the most inviting floral shop I've been in, it got the job done! read more

I took a chance and gave this florist a shot for my mom's birthday. They were the only florist around chinatown that had a display of HK style bouquets. The lady quoted me $80+, she charged me a bit more for all roses. Though she completed my order on time, she definitely didn't show she was happy to have a customer as if I was a nuisance coming in the store. My son and his girl friend sent me flowers for my birthday! Most of the flowers were old and some of the ones they used should have been trashed and never used!!! I felt really bad! I called the florist and complained and all she kept saying is that she would talk to the driver! If it were up to me I wouldn't give them a single star. This place absolutely does not deserve any.. Extremely POOR service and their flowers aren't as fresh as they claim them to be. I walked in to see a guy on the phone who didn't bother to welcome me with a smile or a single hello. He remained on the line without bothering to ask if I needed any help even after minutes of wandering around the shop. When I did ask him for help, he told me to hold on and never got back to me. Minutes later a pregnant woman walked in with a grin on her face. I asked her for her assistance and she was no where near friendly nor helpful. She was plain rude, lacked people skills, wasn't accommodating even though what I had asked for was within reason. When they do show, the reserve their parking spaces in front of their shop with putting their plants and buckets of flowers to hold the parking spaces so no one else can park In front of their shop. RUDE! CONDESCENDING! HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! I came here looking to purchase flowers as a last minute gift for a new mom. Being that I am not very experienced in purchasing flowers, I went to the back refrigerator and asked if I could look at their floral arrangement selection and prices. There were 3 ladies cutting flowers, one of them shouted out from her stool without looking up asking what I wanted the flowers for, I told her it was a gift for someone who just had a baby. She said in a very condescending manner that most of their flowers were for boyfriends to give to girlfriends or for graduations (No clue why she would say that when people purchase flowers for all sorts of other occasions). Then she asked me what my budget was. Since I was interested in evaluating options before making a hard decision on an exact budget I asked again if I could look at their selection and prices, She mockingly snickered as if that was the most ridiculous thing to ask for and insisted on what my budget was again. I still wasn't sure what the going rate was for a decent arrangement & vase so I just said around $40. Then she finally pointed me to the side wall and said "over there", I thought she was pointing to the posters on the wall which had no prices but then finally saw the catalogs which were to the side of the posters she pointed me to. By that time, I was so annoyed with these people that I decided they are not worth getting my business and walked out. The ladies could have politely directed me to the catalogs to begin with when I asked to look at more selection;instead she talked down to her customer and demanded for a budget. None of the ladies bothered to get up to help me instead they just yelled and pointed with their nose from where they were sitting. I am not expecting red carpet service in Chinatown here but just at least someone who treats their customers with a little respect. If I could give them zero stars, I would. We ordered flowers for my uncle's funeral and corrected them on my name spelling numerous times. They told us they would fix it, but it's now been delivered and my name is still spelled incorrectly. Very upsetting at a time when we are all upset already. They told us to pay $150 for each arrangement and that they would just make something beautiful. The arrangement is small - not anywhere near the size of similarly priced arrangements on their website. I've tried calling to speak with them - not only are they not calling me back, they refuse to answer the phone during business hours. DO NOT BUY FLOWERS HERE!! KEEP AWAY!! I understand that this florist is in the middle of Chinatown and standard should be set pretty low. But this is ridulous. I spoke to the clerk in Chinese (the preferred language there) and purchased a floral arrangement for a funeral. I specifically handed the clerk, on the day of purchase, the funeral announcement and had her copy all the info - recipient name, date, time and location. They managed to send the flowers 1 WEEK BEFORE the event. They called me and stated that this was my mistake. I think not! When I confronted the store owner she stated to me that she will resend on the correct date. Okay, you think this was the end of it, but no it's not. I called the day prior to the funeral the confirm the delivery of the floral arrangements. The clerk on the phone stated to me that they already attempted to send the flowers and didn't feel that they were obligated to do so again, but if I really wanted flowers the next day, they would send me the wilted arrangement, saved from last week's incorrect delivery, to the funeral. WHAT JERKS!! No sense of accountability and no sympathy - the flowers are for a funeral! When I got a hold of the store owner with the problem again, she said that she will exchange the wilted flowers with some fresh ones but repeatedly answered, "But I'm already losing money on this. I'm actually paying you for this." I'm happy that they are redressing the problem. But really disappointed on the way that they communicate to their customers. read more

It was very stressful planning for my grandmother's funeral. I had order 13 arrangements for all the family members and needed to make sure everyone's equally beautiful and stay within our budget. I went to 3 floral shops to get an estimate and checked out their work. Maggie's pricing was slightly higher but I liked the styles they did (very close to what you see on 1800flowers.com) vs. the ones that were very old style with boring colors. She assisted us for almost 3 hours from selecting the arrangement styles to color choices to the correct writing (for Chinese family you have to write the right thing with the correct names!). My sister and I were trying to find a place who could put together a special flower arrangement for my mother's funeral. There were only a couple of days before the services. We went to From the Heart Florist and were cordially met by the owner who showed us several brochures we could choose from. She explained which brochures would have the flowers available for the services which was only 3 days away. They were patient as we were deciding on which arrangement to order and when we decided, they were able to take the order right away without any problems. When the services were held, the casket spray delivered just as promised and it was absolutely gorgeous and eventhough it was a very sad occasion, just about everyone came up to us and commented on how beautiful they thought the flowers were.
