I will not return . The lady ( in her middle age , not the young girls up front ), was really rude , snarky and acted as if we were putting her out when we had questions . Very argumentative to me and condescending to the younger girls who are working behind the front desk as well . I have been going to Central Oregon Eye Care for my prescription since I came back to Oregon in 2020. The doctors and opticians are always nice, they're very welcoming and knowledgeable and will leave you feeling validated after every appointment. Yet, everytime I go in for an appointment the same woman at the front desk acts so frustrated, annoyed, and overall put out by anyone just existing in the lobby. I try to be sympathetic to her situation as someone that works in customer service. This is to no avail and if anything she starts to be more rude and condescending. I got my glasses and was given the wrong payment method for it, and I had to sadly ask if there was a way to cancel that payment and use it on the insurance payment card. Her response immediately was "Well it's already been accepted." But then shifted to "Well I'll have to talk to the opticians. But it won't be easy." And then left me at the counter for 10 minutes. When she came back I was trying to apologize because I didn't realize it wasn't easy. And she made that very well known. "It's not that easy. We can't just do cancels or refunds." "Yeah it's more difficult to do this." "I have to go back through this whole order again and do it. It's not simple at all for us to do this." I already felt bad and unaware of the process, but by that point I was just annoyed and frustrated at her responses to me and her attitude. read more

NEVER AGAIN!!! Everything with these guys is a hassle! Purchased my daughters glasses from Central Oregon Eyecare in Redmond and it took 5 weeks for them to show up with me calling twice a week to check on there status... a new excuse every time. After the 12th call I was informed not only that the glasses were finally in but they were in a week and a half ago, they didn't bother to call us and I had twice been told they were not in when they were actually in! Fast forward a year and a half later the hinge on her glasses came apart and the glasses fell off her face in the middle of class. We were told that even though the glasses were still under warranty the manufacture no longer made the frames so we were out of luck. After protesting and throwing a stink they magically found a matching frame in their Prineville office. We asked to pick up the replacement frames in Redmond. It took 10 days and 4 phone calls (BY ME!) to get Amanda at the Prineville store to send the frames to the Redmond store! Are these guys for real? Please be aware that the same identical frames, same lens material, same coatings are LESS EXPENSIVE at Costco and Eyemart express not covered by insurance than the identical set of glasses at Central Oregon Eyecare USING MY EYECARE INSURANCE! Eyecare insurance is just a scam offered through a small group of over priced optometry shops to direct customers into there stores. You do NOT save money with eyecare insurance... you actually end up paying more for an identical product and vastly inferior service! read more

About 6 months ago, I ordered safety goggles for work and was told they would take up to 3 months to arrive. I called them back 3 months later and was told they were not even started yet; they were on "back-order" since they were out of my color preference. I told them I don't care about the color; they are SAFETY goggles for work! When they did finally arrive, they were the wrong Rx, totally useless...after numerous phone calls, they agreed to make it right and ordered the correct rx (should I even have to fight for this??!) A month later when the correct rx lenses arrived, they were the wrong size for the frame and now have to be reordered yet again... Total disaster, and feel like my employer got ripped off! We went to Central Oregon Eyecare to utilize my wife's flex spending account before it expired (a few days after our visit). Our visit went off without a hitch and everything seemed fine. A few weeks later they called us and told us that they forgot to charge us for something and were adding another $55 to our bill. We explained that we only had the money to for their services due to the flex spending account and that was now expired. They told us that it was our responsibility to pay for the service, even though they didn't charge us for the service, and sent us to collections without any offer to work something else out. If they had done their job and charged us the right amount in the first place there would have been no problem. This is their mistake, not ours. I suggest avoiding this place. Even once you pay your bill, it has become evident that they will still send you to collections for something they decided to tack on later. read more

I have been going here for the last couple years, so I have been in for two appointments. Unfortunately when I switched insurance, this was one of the few places I could go. The actual exams aren't bad and everyone has always been quite friendly. My wait has never been too bad either and it's a clean establishment. Most frames are pretty expensive, so I just go with the most decent frames I can get that are completely covered by my insurance and then pay for my contacts on the side. My biggest complaint is they make requesting your information so complicated and I just gave up for now. Maybe it's who I talked to (she could have been new or something I don't know) but she wouldn't even fax it over when I said I could do it that way if it was easier. I feel like she didn't like when I said I wanted to start ordering my contacts online, and maybe look into ordering some new frames and lenses online because it would be more affordable than the frames they offer (that I actually like). I'd look into going elsewhere if I could to be honest, but my insurance only covers so many places in the area. At least it isn't terrible but I feel like it should be easier to have my own information sent over to me especially with other places in the past I have had no problem... I'm gonna give it some time and try requesting my info again. read more

I started here years ago when I moved to redmond. It has only gone down hill. First dr. Misdiagnosed an eye issue I had horribly. Costing ME TIME and MONEY. So I went somewhere else. Came back to do a simple glasses purchase. Then when trying to utilize a warranty on glasses, everything went boom! There new phone system is so awful that they didn't get back to me for weeks and I only had a call back after asking for a supervisor on voicemail. You never get a human!!! I have used Central Oregon Eyecare in Redmond since 2007. My experience in the past has been very good--My most recent experience was not as I had experienced in the past. I recently requested a vision exam for eyeglasses and contacts---which I had today---when checking out for payment my charge was twice what I had experienced previously--- in addition to the vision exam an 'eye health exam' (I had not requested) was also administered-- therefore the addition cost. I questioned this at time of payment and was told this is what also had been completed on my previous March 2022 appointment. I have a copy of the March 2022 invoice which clearly showed I had received only a vision exam for glasses and contacts at that time. At the time of checkout today I told the front desk person I have an 'eye health exam' scheduled in March 2024--- order by my rheumatologist at location of that doctor direction---the front desk person responded that I should of stated that when I came in. That person was very condescending in response to my questioning the 'eye health exam' performed today and the addition expense I incurred. In the future I will take my vision exam needs to another firm. Based on my most recent experience with Central Oregon Eyecare I would no longer recommend their service to others---as I have I the past. read more

There isn't a rating low enough - I had to at least give a star - which should be black. I had a terrible film on my eyes - went in to see this horrid place and what would be considered Eye Care 101 - was not addressed. I was prescribed glasses, it didn't work, re-did the exam and re-did the glasses, still didn't work. I finally went to see a REAL DOCTOR at Kaiser Permanente - within two minutes of meeting Dr. Goldbach, she said, I'm pretty sure I know what's going on, but let's just do a quick check - SHE THEN TOLD ME I HAVE CATARACTS. "I should demand a full refund from Central Oregon Eyecare, they should have NEVER prescribed anything for you until the cataracts were addressed." I got surgery, tried to just let Central Oregon Eyecare DO THE RIGHT THING and just get me glasses that will work. I talked to the Incredibly RUDE, SARCASTIC, CONDESCENDING Administration Manager Michelle Fellines. In a nut shell, she dared me to call my Attorneys Office and HOW SHE WOULD LOVE TO HAVE CONVERSATION WITH MY ATTORNEY. I followed her instructions and called my Attorney, he said, this is Medical Malpractice, get a copy of the Terms & Conditions and a detailed list of what I paid out of my pocket. 4-5 people were asked to get me copies of what my Attorney needed - they all basically did not know of "Terms & Conditions" - that apparently did not exist. Dr. Todd Sheldon got a hold of me after hearing from the last person I talked to, she knew - if I'm asking for Term & Conditions, he needed to fix the problem. He told me that he would take care of everything and his main concern was to make sure I was happy and completely taken care of - WITHOUT ANY EXTRA CHARGES. I did the whole exam, glasses deal AGAIN, that didn't work, he said give it time, people are all different. End of Story - it never was rectified, I went in the last time, Dr. Sheldon gave me another exam, sent me to the sales floor - got a bill handed to me and relayed what Dr. Sheldon had promised to do, as it was NOT my mistake and take my time to make sure my eyes were adjusted. He talked to Doctor Sheldon and came back with a little over 50% taken off and I walked out. One Penny does not add up to NO ADDITIONAL COST. They have the glasses and frame. I have since called the Oregon Board of Optometry, Attorney and in process of writing to all the News Channels, sites that have a option to write a review. Bottom line, DON'T GO TO THIS PLACE. Technicians are fine but front receptionist is rude and argumentative. She plays young people music in an establishment full of elderly... up loud! I told the gal upfront I was going to turn it down till we went into our appointment, and I did... She immediately got up and said I can't work if it's turned down all the way and turned it back up. Previously we recognize that we were being overcharged and she argued that we didn't know what we were talking about and that we were not being overcharged. We walked in today and warm informed that we had almost a $200 credit coming back to us because they overcharged us. Duh! I have eye care insurance and chose this office specifically because they advertised they offered prescription sport sunglasses. There was no problem with the exam. It was thorough and what I expected. And like many others, I wish I read the reviews before making my appointment. Strike 1: I chose a pair of sunglass frames and noticed the staff person was writing it up by referencing a 3-ring binder. I made a comment stating this was really old school. I was told it made it easier to add to the computer later. I was given a price and the next day I was given a call stating the cost wasn't calculated correctly and it would be an additional $65.00. I said no thank you and cancelled that order. I tried to cancel the order for lens I wanted in a pair of frames I already had, but was told they went out already. Strike 2: This one is partly on me. I filled out a paper with a username and password to access my information through their portal. I tried on several times and wasn't able to log in. My guess is someone keyed in an 'S' when it should've been a '5'. Yes, I should've called, but if someone had a doubt if it was a letter or number, they should've called me. Strike 3: After two weeks with no correspondence from the office, I called to check on the status of my lens. The person had to put me on hold to find out what was going on. I'll spare you the weeks of call backs by me to get status updates. The staff is pleasant enough but no one seems to know what is going on or communicate to each to each in the office. There is no follow-up. I ended up so frustrated, I called my insurance provider to get updates. It's been 7 weeks and I still don't have my glasses. I've been wearing glasses for a long time and the cost of the sunglasses seemed very high compared to other places I have purchased prescription eyewear. There are lots of options for eye exams and eyewear. Avoid this one! read more

Way overpriced glasses and very poor selection. Dr Sheldon does a good job but the actual eyewear section is poor. I waited 1 month for glasses that cost $800 that I didn't even like. They had said would take 2 weeks so when a month went by I called they said they would have a technician call me back. You guessed it no call back. I called the next day left a voicemail message, no call back! Bad customer service, poor selection, too expensive! I won't go back for glasses. Would like to still go for exam but I have heard from several people and on these reviews they don't want to give you your prescription and make it difficult. I've been here 3 times in my life and I will no longer be going anymore. First time I went I had a doctor trying to give me some crazy expensive contacts even though I tell him I'm on a budget. Then I go into the area to find glasses and there's this incredibly over bearing person trying to help me find glasses. He pushed stuff that didn't even fit my face properly and was showing me non stop $300 and up frames. Second time very similar experience. Everything was oversold there was absolutely nothing that was "over priced" atleast not in their eyes not even a 800 frame that they said is worth it for the "quality" same over burdening white guy pushing glasses down my throat. But this time the people flat out didn't even try to bill my insurance and I found out that they should've offered that rather than making me pay out of pocket. It was a huge hassle but they finally did pay me back after way too much stress! So this place will scam you out of every extra penny you allow them too. You walk in and everyone is cordial but after getting in the exam room you're lectured for being 6 months late on your exam and how it's so vital to get a check up once a year on the dot. From there you're stuck in a seat and handed contacts that you aren't told will be an addition $55 (for 2 boxes). I told them I had extra contacts and they still gave me this and charged me... I don't need them! After exam they sit you in a seat and have somebody who is very pushy try to talk you into buyi glasses. I had looked and didn't see anything I liked while waiting to be seen. When I tell the lady this she says "are you sure I really don't believe you" she did it in a nice enough way but really? Do you exclusively deal with 2 year olds? I've never been called a liar over something so silly. The part that actually led me to write this review is the airhead of a receptionist that upon paying tells me I'm paying $125 and charges me 180. The thing is I specifically remember her telling me 125 because I remember thinking it was a good price. I call to find out I was charged $55 dollars for contacts I don't need, didn't want, and told the doctor I had extras at home! If you like feeling like you're being talked down to and nickeled and dimed as well as being lied to please go here. If not please find anywhere but here. Costco eye doctors are more professional then this place! Oh and they refuse to give me a refund I'll even bring the contacts back! Again I don't need them. This place is an absolute joke. Can't give no stars... so they get one. As others have commented I should have taken time to read all the reviews. My story is basically as follows; I went in for my annual exam which went fine. When I got to the frame section I just indicated my current ones were fine and all I needed was the lenses with the new prescription. The tech looked at my insurance and told me that by my insurance I was eligible for new frames. I told him that was fine, I could use an extra frame (cause I can be a clutz, and the frames I ordered were exactly the same as my current ones), but really I just need the lenses most of all. I was VERY CLEAR I didn't want to wait on the other frames for my lenses. My request was very clearly acknowledged - just the lenses was what I wanted, the frames can come whenever. Further I ordered a pair of clip on sunglasses and was told they would have to order it from another store. I was also told things were slower now and I could expect 3-4 weeks due to COVID. I totally did get it... Fast forward to 5-6 weeks I hadn't heard anything and called to check. Come to find out according to the receptionist that my lenses were waiting to be made when my frames arrived... I reiterated to the receptionist that I didn't care about the frames, all I wanted was my lenses and could she try and expedite this? She indicated she would relay this to the manager and I should expect a call back. I received no call back. I called again the next day, asked to speak with the manager and was told she would call me back. This time she did. This time she indicated that the lenses were made but just waiting on the frames... I again reiterated that I didn't care about the frames, I just wanted my lenses and if I had know they wouldn't have listened to my request I would have never agreed to the frames - that didn't cost me anything but certainly they were going to make a profit on which is no doubt why they pushed to have me get them to begin with. Again, I was very clear, just send me my lenses. She indicated she would talk to the lab and get them sent. I call the next day, get the receptionist and ask when I might expect the lenses to get in. She checks the computer (I assume) and tells me that they are at the lab and just waiting for the frames to come in... I ask to speak to the manager but she is unavailable. I do get a call back finally and it is literally all I can do to not lose it. I once again explicitly indicate that all I want is my lenses and I am getting conflicting stories now. I tell her that if I don't have my lenses by the beginning of the next week I am canceling my order, telling my insurance not to pay, and going elsewhere. I do get my glasses the first of the following week but tuesday (to be fair there was a holiday on that monday). I was on my way to the shop to cancel the order when they call me and let me know they were in. When I go in to get my new lenses.... They were neatly installed in the new frames... I will never do business with this company again. I feel they have questionable business ethics and I feel that if they didn't outright lie to me about the status of my lenses then they are incompetent administrators. In fact based on how I feel about them at this point I would rather do without glasses and have to turn in my drivers license then ever walk through their doors again. Oh, and I never heard word one about the sunglasses... at least they didn't charge me for those. read more

I have gone to Central Oregon Eyecare before and had reasonably good care but the most recent attempt to make an appt. was difficult to the point that I opted to forego altogether. After making several attempts on weekdays to get them by phone, with no one answering, I came into the office. The person at the front desk was rude, condescending and kept repeating herself, in essence, cutting me off and basically telling me to be quiet until she finished her lecture. She was not remotely listening to a basic request for an appt. for an eye exam. What's more, even if they have more than one person at the front desk, no one acknowledges your presence (this has happened several times in the past) until the one person who can make an appt. is ready to talk with you. It's nearly impossible to tell who is working on what and why you aren't being assisted. Based on these experiences, I would NOT recommend this business. read more

I ordered some Tom Ford glasses 3 months ago!!! First they messed up on the lenses, one was super blury, then when they sent them back they Broke my frames! Now they say the Frames are not availible anymore! I asked if I could buy the exact frames somewhere els on line, they said yes, but they probably wont pay me back for them. Seems like everytime I call it just rings off the hook, but when I use *67 then they pick up! We have to actually GO DOWN there to get them to talk to us! I'm Never coming back here!! read more

I went to the office in Sisters over the summer because I needed new contacts. The screening with the doctor was very good, but there was no follow through on contacts that the office said they would order for me to try. I called them back after a couple of months and wanted them to give me my prescription so that I could order them myself. After spending nearly $200 for the exam, they told me I did not have a prescription and they could not fill an order for me. Very frustrating!! Go to Costco! As a new patient of Central Oregon Eyecare (COE) I received an eye exam March 6th. Immediately after the eye exam, I picked out two pairs of glasses and placed an order. On my way home, I changed my mind about what I had chosen. I left COE at 5:20pm on a Friday evening, so when I arrived home their office was closed. I left a voicemail message on their phone at 5:45pm stating that I would like to put this order on hold. I then used their Patient Portal message center and left another message that evening stating that I would like to place a hold on this order. I then contacted the COE receptionist the following Monday and was told that she would place a hold on my order, that COE wanted their clients to be happy with their decisions. Based upon this information I purchased eyeglasses at another optometrist. I then received a call from COE stating the glasses were ready to pickup. I called COE again and talked with the optical technician and explained the situation. She stated that the charge would be taken care of, but that it may not happen right away since the office staff were out for the week. I placed three more phone calls in which the COE receptionist promised to have the bookkeeper return my call, but did not receive a response. I then canceled my credit card charge to COE. This request was denied as the credit card company states "We cannot intervene...Merchants may operate their businesses independently and set return and refund policies that best suit their business needs." After hearing this disappointing news, I went back to COE and met with Lacy, the bookkeeper, who agreed with me that their obviously was a communication breakdown, but that I would still need to purchase the glasses. I told Lacy I would agreed to do this in lieu of spending time in small claims court, but that I would certainly be writing this review and would NOT RECOMMEND CENTRAL OREGON EYECARE to anyone. read more

Dr. Sheldon is a great doc. I have zero issues and hate to leave his office in redmond or. I would give a zero review for his office staff in redmond if I could. I have been dealing with a billing issue for a year. Horrible billing department. They refuse to help, even after admitting they made a mistake. Very very frustrating. I ask for a specific statement regarding the issue and twu send me a list of visits starting in 2012. Now they tell us we have to contact our insurance to fix the mistake that they missed. Every visit the price quoted for service has been wrong, in a few cases drone by a few hundred dollars. Do NOT go to the Redmond office. Consider paying out of pocket at a different eye care provider to save money and not do not allow Central Oregon Eyecare to rip you off. My wife and I have been disappointed with their service for some time now. For insurance reasons and needing a more recent prescription, I went again even though I knew better. In the end, all I wanted was updated lens for my existing frames. They literally wanted to charge me $600. I questioned if that was the best they could do and to my face they said yes. This was the last straw. Prior to this visit I did research online regarding lens replacement. My research indicated you can get your lenses replaced for between $150-$250 depending on the options you add. I found a place online (Replace A Lens) and paid $202 to get new lenses. I got every option you could want including Premium Anti-Glare and Transitions. I have a fairly high prescription as well. It only took 2 weeks from the time I sent in my glasses to when they were returned. They are outstanding. I'm so thankful I didn't allow Central Oregon Eyecare to rip me off. My wife and I have already found a new eye care and will NEVER go back to Central Oregon Eyecare, even if they are the only place our insurance would use. Quality Eyecare can be affordable if you deal with good honest people and companies. 4. Do yourself a favor and do a little research before using Central Oregon Eyecare. My experience began with a very quick response to get an appt. Then I had two very much needed text reminders. I was greeted by a lively very friendly receptionist who had all my paperwork nearby making me feel expected and not forgotten. I was taken in for my first round of test by another pleasant assistant who was very competent and social. She knew why I was there because she actually read my old notes from prior visit. Did not answer unnecessary questions. Dr. Oswald was pleasant and caring as he was before. A very nice temperament and good at what he does. I was informed of what was needed and referred.
