Oh, you beautiful park, you. Come on....you can't come to NYC and not visit Central Park. Whether if it's your first or 20th visit, you'll always discover new hidden gems. Especially true if your visits are during different seasons. Visited NYC during the middle of April and there were still plenty of cherry blossom trees. Also book a reservation for a 35 min horse carriage ride just so my friend can get the "experience" of Central Park. We booked with NYC Horse Carriage Rides. Look them up on Google...really easy to make reservations. Legit and def not a scammer company. You can easily spend your entire day or two here. There's no way you will be able to cover everything. I suggest researching key points you want to check out and plan a route. We saw plenty of bikers, walkers, runners and of course horse carriages and pedi-cabs. Def take advantage of sunny days because this park is just PERFECT.
I love Central Park. You get all you want in New York nature with views of high rises around. It's a lot bigger than you think it is with plenty of walking paths.
From my previous review, noticed recently during a big snowstorm that I omitted most winter-related activities one can do in Central Park! These include, though aren't limited to: Sledding, cross country skiing, making all manner of snowmen/forts/snowballs/snow angels, snow tubing, snow plowing and shoveling the streets and walkways, defrosting your fingers and toes, admiring the winter scenery. One of the best things about CP is that it's open daily, year-round. On one very very cold Saturday afternoon when we got about a foot of snow, I ventured out in sub-freezing temperatures, and was surprised by how many people (thousands!) were playing in the snow. I had never seen CP so crowded, not even on warm sunny days! Not only families with children, it seemed everyone healthy and active enough to participate was out and about. How many people had sleds too!* That being said, one suitable aspect of CP is the many hilly areas so if you had a sled, you were in luck, with much fun to be had. On your next snow day, GO PLAY! *Considering it hadn't snowed more than a few inches annually the past few years I wasn't sure where people either had space to store, or how they were able to procure sleds at such short notice.
Even on cold frigid days of winter and covered in snow Central Park is a beautiful place to take a walk or get in a run. Sure, you can't do as much here compared to spring, summer, and fall as its covered in snow but it was fun today to see the many parents with kids sledding on the hills, and the pool turned into to a seasonal ice skating rink with many having fun on it. Also, don't eat the yellow snow. Thank me later.
First off, I am quite shocked that I've never gotten around to reviewing Central Park. This famous, 843 acres park situated between the Upper West Side and Upper East Side neighborhoods of Manhattan is the most visited urban park in the United States. Managed by the Central Park Conservancy, this beautiful plot of greenery really helps you forget that you're actually in a concrete and steel urban jungle. The park is quite large, and there is certainly no shortage of things to do. Including but not limited to: Belvedere Castle, Charles A. Dana Discovery Center, the Davis Center with an outdoor swimming pool, play games at the Chess & Checkers House, or rent a boat right on the lake. There are also no shortage of bicyclists and joggers winding their way through this park as part of their daily routines. For movie and tv buffs, there are tons of famous landmarks that been the backdrop to many iconic scenes throughout this park. Including one of my favorites, Bethesda Terrace, which was featured in several key scenes throughout the John Wick franchise. The park itself is pretty safe and regularly patrolled by the NYPD. However, I would generally avoid winding your way through here after dark when most of the foot traffic has died down. And for the sheer size of this park, I do wish they would put more signage up. Especially near the entrances of the park itself.
There are parks... and then there is Central Park all 835 acres of it. Not a patch of grass squeezed between buildings, but a full-blown emerald kingdom planted right in the chest of Manhattan. Some folks say it's the number one park in America, and after walking it, freezing in it, sweating in it, and nearly killing myself biking around it I'm inclined to agree. When you stand there and look out across the lawns, lakes, bridges, and winding roads, you realize this place isn't just a park. It's a masterpiece carved out of the most expensive real estate on earth. I remember renting a bike once when I was in prime shape lungs like bellows, legs like pistons. The rental guy gives you that innocent little hourly rate, but here's the catch: go over the hour and suddenly the price jumps faster than New York rent. So naturally I thought, "No problem. I'll just blast around the park in under sixty minutes." Friends... let me tell you something. Unless you've got Tour de France legs and a rocket strapped to your back, you're probably paying for two hours. I pedaled like a man possessed, stopped only long enough for a few photos, and still came rolling back humbled. The park wins. Every time. What makes the place magical is how it changes with the seasons. In winter, when the trees stand bare and the cold bites your bones, the park feels almost ancient like some quiet cathedral of stone paths and frozen air. Then summer rolls around and suddenly it looks like a postcard: rowboats drifting across the lake, musicians playing somewhere in the distance, people stretched across the grass like they've discovered paradise in the middle of Manhattan. Spring blossoms, autumn gold every season writes its own poem here. And the surroundings? Forget about it. You've got the world pressing in from every side. The grand old Metropolitan Museum of Art standing like a palace of culture. Just down the avenue rises Trump Tower, flashy and bold. A short stroll away the electric madness of Times Square flashes its giant screens and neon like a carnival that never sleeps. Yet somehow, step into the park and the noise fades into birds, laughter, and the steady rhythm of footsteps on gravel. There's history here too. Designed in the 1800s by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux, the place was built so ordinary people could breathe a little in a city that never stops hustling. And you feel that spirit today. Joggers chasing personal records, artists painting bridges, tourists staring up at skyscrapers, and the occasional lunatic like me trying to bicycle the whole thing in under an hour. My advice? Take your time. Wander, sit, watch the world roll by. Because in a city famous for speed, Central Park is the rare place that reminds you to slow down.
We covered quite a bit of Central Park from one side to the other during our April trip, but merely scratched the surface. We visited the stone outcroppings, wide paths, and fountains which were not flowing yet due to the season. We saw horse and carriage rides, skyline views, and the early flowers of spring. Would love to revisit Central Park each time when revisiting NY because it is so vast and ever changing with the seasons. Beautiful park within the heart of the city.
One of my most favorite places in the York city! Just don't get caught there walking throw it in the middle of the night. No just kidding all jokes aside and this is one of the most interesting parts in the city and one of the few places that you will lots find green open space. There are lots of common walkways and running trails for you to get your fitness in if that's what you like to do and for kids there are several playground areas in and around the park. It's the perfect place and change of pace from the hustle and bustle of the city. And what I find most interesting about Central Park is that no matter how many times you come here, it always seems like you'll find something different about it from the last visit. The sights, people, landscape and everything around it changes with each day or season. That's the beauty of the park that I like most.
Empire State of Pom's hosted the cutest Pomeranian Halloween meet up! All of the dogs were so cute, excited, and happy to be outside playing in the park! Central Park is the perfect place for humans, and dogs to enjoy open space! I truly love and enjoy each opportunity I have to visit Central Park!
We didn't spend a lot of time in Central Park and just dipped our toes in, grabbing a pretzel and re-surfaced back into Lincoln Square. The size of this park is daunting for sure, and would be best to enjoy a day or at least an afternoon to explore what is there. Amazingly we got parking nearby which made it easy to get in and get out on this short trip to New York, it was a must-see. Well worth the trip!
I spent the day - starting at 9:00 AM and finishing at 5:45 PM doing a full loop of Central Park - stopping and seeing things along the way. I was surprised it was hilly. There are fields, lakes, tree-lined areas, waterfalls, a conservancy garden, playgrounds, places to rent boats, and even a tribute to John Lennon.
"No, there's an engagement." You don't need to be alert for mountain lions but you might keep an eye out to avoid photo-bombing wedding-related festivities and more informal content creators. The scenery is outstanding, with a wide range of grassy areas, woods and rocks. Some sections like the Ramble are heavily designed to provide an impressive facsimile of nature. You might be looking for the Great Lawn, the reservoir or a Gaslight Anthem concert, but the park is admirably decentralized so there isn't one must-see segment. It loses a star for a deficient bathroom-to-crowd size ratio. If Manistique MI can spring for good facilities so can NYC.
I love Central Park! This massive park has a plethora of things to do no matter the season! Summertime? Rent a boat and venture out on the lake! Fall? Go walk around a take in the beautiful foliage! Winter? Enjoy ice skating at Wollman Rink! Spring? Have a picnic! Additionally, they're always having all kinds of events here, an example is Shakespeare in the Park which takes place in the summer months. Love love LOVE this park! I come here any opportunity I get.
Central Park is one of my absolute favorite places in NYC. It's an outdoor oasis to enjoy amongst the hustle and bustle of the city below. They have this awesome loop that traverses through the whole park and I've been taking advantage of it on my bike! It is a 6 mile loop that is not for the faint of heart. I say that because those hills are killer! I'm the type that will try to push through those hills without stopping, to be rewarded with the gratifying downhill on the other side. If you go during the daytime, before 3 PM, there would be minimal bikers and runners so you get a sense of peace riding through the park. Come 3 PM, people are off work and kids are off school so the park definitely becomes more crowded. Just need to be more careful of pedestrians that don't pay attention when they walk. read more
Love Central Park! So much wildlife and things to see- music, a restaurant, people walking with their dogs. Most of the grassy areas were still green and the leaves were still in the process of changing. I didn't know that there was another ice rink here too. My time in the park is usually walking from Upper West Side where I usually stay to get to the Upper East Side to visit customers. I usually walk as I get my exercise and usually faster than taxi or Uber. Stepping into the park is going from a loud, busy, dirty city into a serene beautiful natural area that is a true national treasure. Ponds, rocks, trees, birds and small animals. City people exercising running, walking and cycling. Lots of other activities happening. read more

Need to get away from the intense urban NYC landscape? Visit Central Park for a relaxing escape with nature :) Walking through just a small fraction of the park revealed gorgeous views of the waters, greenery, and skyscrapers. I wish I had more time to keep exploring - Definitely renting a bike next time to cover more ground quickly! Watch out for the trails of stinky horse manure. read more

You can't come to New York and not visit Central Park, it should be on everyone's itinerary in my opinion. Yes it's huge but it's beautiful with the skyscrapers in view, bridges, horse and carriages, the turtle pond and John Lennon's strawberry fields are just some of the things to see in central park as well as a trip to central park zoo which is small but you will find a snow leopard, penguins, puffins, red pandas and bears, there's something for everyone and a great day out! read more

Central Park is my favorite park anywhere in the world. Designed by landscape architects Frederick Law Olmsted (who also designed Manhattan's Riverside Park, Brooklyn's Prospect Park, the grounds of the U.S. Capitol, the Biltmore Estate grounds in Asheville, NC, Stanford University's campus, and many, many other places) and Calvert Vaux, it was created as a place of recreation in 1858 for the rapidly growing population of the city. Central Park's 843 acres contain meandering paths, a zoo, monuments, sports fields, playgrounds, ponds, streams, woodland, and so much more! Here, you can go biking or birding, play basketball or chess, go boating or take in a SummerStage show! There is never a dull moment! In 1980, the Central Park Conservancy was created to improve, restore, and maintain the park after some years of decline. Because of the conservancy, the grounds today are gorgeous! Additionally, they provided signs around the park for self-guided tours and information about the different areas you may be walking through. I can't count the number of times I have walked through and enjoyed this beautiful park. But I make a point to come here at least once every time I am in NYC. And I usually stop in Strawberry Fields, a living memorial to John Lennon. Yoko Ono donated the funds to refurbish the area, restoring a deteriorated section of the park. She helped to create the area that honors him. You'll always find buskers here singing Beatles tunes and tourists snapping photos with the Imagine mosaic. I can't wait to get back! read more

Attended a Breast Cancer Awareness event inside Central Park earlier in the morning. Decided to stroll around for half an hour afterwards. Today's a beautiful day with the sun out and there're lots of clouds when you look up to the sky. Feels colder with the wind blowing in my ears when I get to the park around 8:30am. Two hours later, the weather gets warmer and I feel warmer. Then, I captured this beautiful view of several skyscrapers close to each other. The lawn seems to look greener and more beautiful under the glistening sun. Great day to be walking around, having a picnic lunch, or just enjoying the natural Vitamin C and fresh air by yourself or with friends. Many tourists would come visit Central Park just to take pics since this park is such a historical landmark in Manhattan, New York. read more

This is one of the best park in NYCIt's so big that after multiple attempts in separate days, still I was not able to finish it. It's difficult to choose which pictures to upload because it's just too many to choose from. Its the best if you want to do a picnic, family gathering , birthday parties or small wedding. And perfect for photo shoot. I also have photoshoots there in different times of the year. And I personally loved it. Last time when I was there had an unpleasant experience while I was taking pictures of my cousin who came to visit me. My backpack got stolen, in couple of seconds it was just gone. I have to say the fault was mine, I was just too tired, my neck was hurting & just put it down on the big rock so I can take some pictures of my cousin. And after 5/7 seconds it was just vanished I had my wallet, 2 phones , some extra cash , iPodsLost a lot of money that day. I almost cried because had been living in NYC for 24 years & this never happened to me! I am still in shock We went to the police who were patrolling & they said there is no way I will get it back. And yes I shouldn't leave it on the ground! It's a huge park & there are lots of people who steal stuff all day long, they are expert in this! And yes, I did end up making a police report! Also I have learned my lessonNo matter how much pain I have on my neck, the bag stays on my neck The reason I am telling all this because, everyone needs to be careful wherever you are. There's can't be cameras everywhere. So you have to protect your belongings. Btw, best time to visit Central Park is FallThen of course spring! It's just beautiful So come to my city & walk through this gem in the middle of Manhattan! read more

This was my third time exploring Central Park, and it's always such a treat! After being surrounded by the concrete jungle of New York City, there's nothing better than escaping into this massive green space for a peaceful stroll. Pro tip: wear comfortable shoes because you'll be doing a lot of walking, but don't worry, there are plenty of benches and spots to sit and rest along the way. Even though the park is right in the middle of Manhattan, I somehow always find myself gravitating back to it every time I visit NYC. If you're not staying close by, I highly recommend using the Citymapper app to navigate the subway, it makes getting around the city so much easier! The park is huge, and despite visiting multiple times, I still haven't seen everything it has to offer. What makes Central Park extra special is that there's always something going on. Whether it's live street performers, vendors selling snacks, or random pop-up events, there's never a dull moment. I recently discovered Vista Rock and the little castle there, which offers a great view of the skyline and a fresh perspective of the park itself, definitely worth checking out! If you're visiting NYC, Central Park should be high on your list. It's the perfect spot to take a break from the city, enjoy nature, have a picnic, exercise, or simply people-watch. Whether you have just a few hours or a full day to spare, it's a fantastic way to unwind and experience one of New York's most beloved landmarks. read more

We took the "Heart of the Park" tour of Central Park. This is approximately 1.5 miles of level ground, crossing through the center of Central Park in NYC. We found the tour to be excellent. Our guide was well informed and provided many interesting insights into the park's development and design. Well worth the time. Fees support the Conservancy's efforts to maintain the park. Each season would provide differing views and scenery. read more

Beautiful park. The spring is just starting to come in. I would only come here in the daytime but it's a great park to stretch your legs and take a break from the city. They're also doing some renovations in the park throughout so there are a few detour stops but nothing extreme. read more

Central Park is definitely one of a kind. From the size of the park to the sculptures, it has a lot to offer. I basically did a big loop around the entire park and it took a couple of hours, as the park is so massive. If you're ever looking for a nice scenic stroll or just some private time alone, I feel that Central Park is a good spot for this. There are a lot of different kinds of animals there so it's pretty naturey which I loved. Being from LA, this park was beautiful and very clean compared to the nasty graffiti'd up hobo infested parks you'd typically find in LA read more

Central Park was interesting. It was nothing like what I've seen on TV and movies, in both good and bad ways. It was very pretty, but somewhat underwhelming. What was kind of funny is that it was raining on the day that I went, and yet the sprinklers were going full blast. I only saw one homeless person, and the restrooms were very clean. A lot of the parks were closed, but I'm not a child so I didn't really care. I also saw a lot of really pretty horses. I wish people wouldn't smoke marijuana in the park, as I hate the smell, but I guess there's nothing you can really do about that. All-in-all, I'm glad I checked Central Park off of my bucket list, but it wasn't anything special. read more
Can you imagine a better organization than the one taking care of our amazing Central Park. Started by the local residents when the park was unkempt and uncared for with garbage piling up and water pooling into stinky marshes. Since then the Conservancy has done sooo much to make the park What it is today - an oasis in a crazy, dirty, crowded metropolis, the breath of fresh air amid the concrete jungle. Especially during this time of year, in April and may, when so Many flowers and trees are in bloom that you can appreciate the full Beauty and Majesty of the park. You could literally go to Central Park 50 times and still have not explored it all. It is an absolute must see! The park is a huge stretch from the touristy areas to the local spots. There are people sunbathing, picnic, playing sports, reading, walking.. just enjoying themselves. My boyfriend and I decided to take a pedicab tour and it did not disappoint. Our driver was friendly, funny and knowledgeable. This park is an oasis in a big city. All the hustle, bustle and sounds are all of a sudden non-existent. There are many vendors that sell souvenirs, food, drinks, pedicabs and bike rentals. read more
A gorgeous park in the middle of Manhattan wedged between the Bronx, Upper East and West Sides, and Midtown, this has a little magic for everyone. one of the few areas in the city you can go and get away for a bit and you're not feeling like you're in the city anymore. Sports fields, regular fields, tree lined paths, sculptures, a castle, photos opps, and wedding photographers everywhere it seems. The Central Park zoo, the Museum of Art and the reservoir, along with the bike paths and many playgrounds, rock scrambling, and fields for folks to hang out in. Scene of many movies, ducks, boating, the fountain, and more. A must-visit if you're in NYC, if only to take a break from the city. read more
I mean who doesn't love Central Park? It's one of the most beautiful green spaces in NYC, and we are so blessed to have it. The sheer size of this park is amazing. In the last couple years, I've began running more races including the NYC Marathon twice now and it's always such a joy to be able to run in Central Park. I only wish I lived nearby to run in the park daily but since I don't, that also makes it more special when I get the chance to run in the park. Bikeriding is also another activity I enjoy in Central Park. I like to rent CitiBikes and ride the outer loop. But be aware - the hills are killer not only to run but also to bike. There is Cat Hill on the east side, Harlem Hill at the top of the park, and the Three Sisters on the upper west side of the park. I think I hate The Three Sisters the most because they're much more subtle and never ending than the other two hills. But either way they're all a fantastic workout. I also love all of the fun activities and events that take place in the park. From Good Morning America Summer Concert Series (hello BSB!) to Shakespeare in the Park at the Delacorte Theater (which always has the most incredible all-star casting) to the New York Philharmonic - the events are plentiful and so much fun. There's also ice skating in the winter too which I've enjoyed. And the foliage and flowers are so beautiful. The spring flowers and fall leaves are some of my favorite times of the year to visit Central Park. The Conservatory Garden is also very pretty when in bloom. Also be sure to stop by the Tavern on the Green's to-go window - they have the best hot chocolate and banana bread! As many times as I've been to Central Park, I know there are still so many parts of the park I still need to explore. read more
I was wanted to take a stroll through Central Park in New York City. We checked that item off our list today. Very large and expensive park with lots of greenery and things to do. There was live music playing, there were some baseball fields. They were Dog, walking everywhere. There's even a carousel in the middle of the park. Earlier in the day, I'd walk the farthest I've ever walked without seeing a blade of grass so coming here was a refreshing change of pace. read more
There are many that try to be like Central Park - Rock Creek Park in Washington and Griffith Park in Los Angeles and even Golden Gate Park - but there are none that have achieved the greatness that is Central Park. The most filmed movie site in the world and the most visited urban park in the United States. Parks of the park opened as early as 1858 and it's been under near constant update and renovation. The park has plenty of roads that go this way and that and many walkways and pathways. Interestingly, the park is not operated by the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation, instead it is maintained by the Central Park Conservancy. When I grew up on Long Island in the last century, Central Park was rumored for lots of violent crime and I think there is still a small amount of that which happens after dark. If you're here in the day time, and you stay on the main roadways and pathways, you're as safe and secure as you would be in Times Square. So fear not and check it out! On pictures, Central Park is already beautiful. It's magnificent open spaces, shaded trails, and tree lined sidewalks feel so fresh and natural in the heart of the concrete jungle that is NYC. But in person, Central Park is even more amazing. Visiting on a cool fall afternoon is just the cherry on top. The vibrancy of the park and the atmosphere with everyone walking around and going about their activities is just unmatched. I loved visiting the fountains and the various filming locations featured in the John Wick movies. So blown away experiencing all the best that New York has to offer. Definitely have to come back here again next time :) read more

So much to do and so much to see! And it's awesome to recognize famous spots from the movies! From the carousel, to Bethesda Fountain to the walking trails, it's a great place to explore as well as find a nice bench and enjoy some food from one of the food trucks or a hot dog cart! read more

Central park. What can I say! It was my life saver when the pandemic was high and I wanted to be away from people but still be in nature. There is so much beauty to this park in all seasons! The trees are beautiful colors in fall, when it snows its wonderful and beautiful. In the summer and spring to see the Green and people out and about enjoying what this park has to offer! Great to see. There are many events that go on in this park.. One major one is the citizens festival concert. And actually my first ever Dave Matthews Band Concert I saw in central park. I can't say enough wonderful things about this park! Go check it out if you have never been! read more
Best park in the world. Breathtaking and beautiful. You can spend days and hours here. Every time you walk through it's a new experience. Love grabbing breakfast and a coffee and taking a walk. Sometimes through the Rambles and sometimes by Strawberry Fields. Love people watching and love watching the rowers on the lake. Beautiful scenery and perfect picture taking. Fall brings the colors of the leaves changing, winter brings tourists on carriage rides with a bag of chestnuts, spring you can spot the cherry blossoms, summer bring kids on the playgrounds, families having picnics and all year long you can find walkers, joggers and bike riders. Watch when you walk, those bikers go fast and you don't want to get hit. Prettiest way to crossover from the west side to the east side of Manhattan. There are easy cross roads on 65th, 79th, 86th, and 97th streets. You'll spot nice trails, beautiful reservoirs, waterfalls, and even a castle. In all my years living in NY and traveling there, this was the first time I stumbled upon Belvedere Castle. This miniature castle is located atop the huge rock known as Vista Rock. Climb up and you can see the Great Lawn and beautiful views of the city. I Love walking around Central Park. You'll never run out of sights to see. Beautiful park to see during any season of the year!! read more

There are tons of guided tours for Central Park. I recommend the one sponsored by the parks department themselves. If you Google NYC parks events calendar you should get to the NYC parks and recreation website. Lots of free and low-cost tours there…
How is the foliage? Visiting this weekend to hopefully ride around the park and would be thrilled to see red and orange leaves!!
