The worse customer service experience in NYC !! New York City is not known for the best service however this place takes the medal for the worse customer service experience during our stay. We purchased the Groupon based on decent reviews but as soon as you mention the Groupon to them you automatically become a burden to them, they FORCE a $1.99 insurance making it impossible to decline, both clerks will tell you that if anything happens to the bike such as a flat tire or a scratch during the rental time period they will charge your card $600 (these bikes are not $600 worth) So once you return the bikes they don't even do a full inspection leaving me to believe that the insurance is simply a gimmick to add $2 bucks to their tip jar. I enjoyed Central Park but even upon return they rush you to turn in the bikes for the next rental.. keep away, there are so many other places to rent from!

Free tours by foot refers their customers to this place when they don't have bike tours available in the offseason. With that referral it's 20% off in the form of a promo code. This place offers a two hour guided bike tour in Central Park for $45 so I ended up paying $42.15 - super easy to book online. There's three time slots 9 am/11 am/130 pm. They ask about a $2.19 insurance (optional) - maybe it's a scam maybe not but I really didn't want the hassle of something going wrong and it seemed nominal enough. They do keep your government issued ID while you're out on the ride. Helmets are optional - only mandatory for under 16. You get a basket to add to your bike if you want. The bikes didn't feel like it was in the best shape. Guide Damien was awesome and just entertaining overall. He does ask if you're ok riding into traffic because there is a short portion to and from the park that requires you to be in traffic. Something about being in NYC traffic and feeling like you could be hit to bring that adrenaline up. We had a small group so it was enjoyable. I can't say if I would enjoy a bike tour with more then 10 people. You get a good enough history lesson on the park and enough tidbits on pop cultural things like movies that were shot here as well as info on the skyscrapers lining the park. There's a few stops to take pics and walk around briefly but you're essentially going around the park which is a six mile around. There were some parts we cut through that were quite bumpy with worn out grass and tree roots which were kinda tricky and could lead to a spill. There is some uphill and downhill parts and Damien goes at a good speed. So I would say that you have to be in ok shape to do this. And you should feel comfortable on a bike - staying on a bike path, some street traffic and hills. Overall a fun couple of hours that helped give me a good overview of the park for me to discover on my own.

This was a highlight to our NYC trip! Our tour guide, Joel, was fantastic and gave us a thorough history of the tour stops. The bikes road well and were comfortable. The tour was a lot of stopping but that gave the opportunity for pictures and learning about the stops. Ashley and the team at the shop were super helpful! The store is small but they have a great system for moving people through. They have great shirts too! Not a cheesy I love NYC shirt. We bought 2 and went back for another to take as a gift. We will definitely be back on our next trip to to city. :)

FREE. And no, this was not from last years Summer Street

Do NOT rent from this place. This place is such a SCAM and it's a huge tourist trap. Bike rental is $15 for 1 hour; you could rent a daily pass for Citi bike for $12 AND park it anywhere throughout the city Anyway, here's my lineup for the 1 star: (1) no AC and it was so hot in there, you will faint or profusely sweat (2) whether you make reservation or not, you'll be standing and waiting to rent a bike in the small, humid building (3) worker and I'm going to assume this woman who was the manager was extremely rude when I told them that I saw a free bike rental for NYC Summer Street 2016 (please see picture where the description says FREE rental) AVOID AT ALL COST

Bike Tour Review: I booked the tour through Explorer pass and reservations were made over the phone a day before the bike ride. I can't say that customer service is exceptional (at the check-in/check-out counter anyway), but I did not find the staff rude either. I have one complain though - they spray Lysol on the helmets. I mean... I don't know if this will kill lice at all - I am talking a out the drug resistant one. Neither will it make the chin-straps non-absorbent to people's perspiration. So yea, I did take one, but didn't use it. I suggest you bring your own if you have one. Also, my bike didn't have a stand which was a tad bit annoying whenever we stopped, so make sure to check for those. There is a basket available for your purse/murse. Oh, one more thing, pee if you have to before coming here! If you don't mind Lysol on used helmets and/or stand-less bikes, any complains that you can possibly have about the rude staff will not really matter because what's going to make or break the bike trip, is...well, the bike tour in itself. I was with a tour group led by Damien (or Damian?) and I had so much fun! He was very friendly, entertaining, and knowledgeable about NY history and real estate surrounding Central Park (which I was more interested in :D). We stopped at beautiful areas of the park and not only did he serve as a tour guide and entertainer, he was our photographer too! I went solo and did not feel out of place at all. Take note that since you are with a group, it is likely that you cannot go at a fast pace as other people will have to be waited on when re-grouping. Overall, I would recommend Central Park Sightseeing for the tour but not necessarily the bike rental in itself.

We had an awesome experience on our tour of Central Park with Chuck. It was great having a NY native give the tour. The company employees were well organized and took good care of business. They had us ready and on the road quickly. The tour even lasted a bit longer than advertised.

We had a private tour, Debra was our guide and she was beyond amazing. Sge was very patient, gave us a lot of history, information about the park, and took lots of group pictures for us. We were able to cover a lot of the park, & took lots of pics. We couldn't have asked for a better tour guide!! So, if you're looking for the best way to see the park Unlimited Biking is it. If you get Debra as your guide then you'll have an even better tour!!

Tour wouldn't have been complete without a pigeon landing on our bikes in Central Park!

For the first 15 minutes we were yelled at by bicyclist and joggers and when we complained to the tour guide, he got very defensive. He gave very little information about historic landmarks and would google the information and play it back to us. Our so-called tour was 1 hr & 40 minutes when we paid for 2 hrs. I blame this company for not vetting him and he was not qualified to be a tour guide.

The forecast was for rain from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm so when I arrived, I asked the guy at the front desk if we could change our ride for one of the tours later in the day. They run tours at 11:00 am, 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm. He responded and said that it was going to rain all day. I told him that was not the forecast and that it was supposed to be clear in the afternoon. He said that weathermen could not be trusted and he did not change our schedule. Shortly after the ride started, it rained heavily and the temperature was 39 degrees Fahrenheit. We were dressed for rain but didn't have gloves and between the cold and the wet, it was very rough. Within 20 minutes, one of my 14 year old sons was freezing and crying like I had never seen him cry. We had to leave the tour. When I got back to the bike shop, I asked if I was going to be given a refund. The same guy said immediately "No, you didn't ask to change the schedule." I was astonished. The first thing he said was that I didn't ask to change the schedule when he knew that was the first thing I asked. He had no problem looking me straight in the eye and lying. We don't get to New York often as we live in California. This guy really ruined our day and who knows when we will get back there. However, I was a bit distracted by how often he consulted his phone for accuracy, and he did take a short call during the tour. I appreciated his creative use of music to help us imagine the park's history -- it was a unique touch -- though I personally didn't want to stand still quite so long for that portion. He had also planned to show us historic photos, but unfortunately, the tablet provided by the company had a dead battery, which reflected more on the company's preparation than on Aaron himself. On the positive side, we were lucky to get a VIP-style experience since we were the only two participants on the tour. Aaron was thoughtful and kind -- he even brought and offered us a poncho since it was raining. He also went out of his way to guide us on how to use the subway afterward so we could reach our next appointment on time, and he eagerly pointed out great photo spots and offered to take pictures for everyone. Overall, I'm glad I took this tour. Aaron clearly cared about our experience and made it memorable despite a few minor hiccups. FYI: this tour does not include Strawberry Fields or the Alice in Wonderland statue.
