This coffee/tea shop is owned by the nicest British-sounding guy. He helped us pick items to eat and drink. And we were thrilled to find some coloring books and colored pencils tucked away in our table - this helped occupy our three boys. A cute place with great food and drink! read more

1. Cash or venmo... not sure who pays for food with a check but these are your only options..... and no signage at door.. 2. Not friendly place and no service. You need to know how the operate bc they are not going to help you. You need to get your own menu and place your order at counter. 3. Ordered the afternoon tea. Took forever to receive a pot of tea and we had to wait while it seeped at the table. Took over an hour to get some finger sandwiches. 4. Several tables came in after us and were served and finished before we got the tea. 5. Cucumber sandwiches were the best. The other sandwiches are basic, no flavor, very bland. Scones were dry and the desserts are store purchased. Watch the lemon, it tasted bad. 6. Never checked on us to see if everything was good. We have been to so many tea rooms all over the country that I guess I expected better. Very disappointed. read more

Honestly did not have a good experience here. Not sure if it was an off day or if it is usually like this but it took almost 2 hrs to get a cheese board & when we asked, they said it would be out shortly. It also took 30 mins for a small pot of tea. And then on top of that we were given the wrong sandwich. First was a sandwich that belong to another table then the other sandwich I ordered was not what was described. Kind of left a bad taste in my mouth experience wise. read more

Attended a bridal shower here and it was an amazing experience! We had a full afternoon tea service with delicious finger sandwiches, cream scones with jam, and delicious desserts. Although they were all very good, my very favorite dessert item was a small chocolate shell filled with dark chocolate cream and topped with whipped cream. It was delectable! The house blend tea was extremely similar to the house blend tea at the inimitable Empress Hotel in Victoria, BC, and it was delightful. Quaint little cafe near a main road. Lots of character from the founder, who originates from the UK. Park either on several spots in front or in a lot behind the shop. Peak hours are in the afternoon when most patrons order the afternoon tea set so expect higher wait times as the food is made to order. Set starts off with your choice of tea, following the pastry rack later. Our food came about an hour later after our tea was served, which could have been faster. Had an amazing afternoon having high tea. The place is small with odd mix-matched seating along one side as well as some outdoor seating. The sandwiches were lovely. Ham, turkey, egg salad, cheese, cucumber and potato. My favorite were the cucumber with cream cheese and the cheese sandwich which had caramelized onions. Everything tasted fresh and flavorful. The desserts were sweet and delicious especially the chocolate tart. But the best item were the scones with jelly and cream on top!! They were dry but not too dry and the jelly was sweet without being overly sweet and the cream was creamy without being overly creamy. All in all they were wonderful. read more

British couple Mike and Rose offer sandwiches, coffee, tea and scones and much more... Even following an early afternoon Tennis match, the Central Perc European Café is nearly 100% full. Young parents with infants, senior citizens, and college students have discovered the Central Perc European Café. Mike definitely speaks British, and a visit to Central Perc European Café is as nice a visit as if one were in Great Britain. We decide on a simple chicken salad with greens and a fresh baked baguette. The service: swift and pleasant. The ambience: British tea parlor with great soups, wiches, and salads. The dining: fine. Stopped here on our way through Dayton, and it far exceeded expectations. We got scones (spinach and feta) and breakfast sandwiches (ham and tomato croissant) and they were phenomenal. Ambiance was simple but the mom and pop charm of the place was precious. Would return if we ever find ourselves in Dayton again. Ate too fast to take pictures! read more

My husband and I ordered the afternoon tea for 2 which included scones, eclairs, an almond based cake, a lemon curd tart, and assorted finger sandwiches. We chose English Breakfast tea among a large assortment of teas offered. The desserts were fantastic and lightly sweet (which we enjoyed!), the finger sandwiches were a little bland and dry. Central Perc is a nice little coffee house. It has a good variety of coffee. They also have lots of pastries. It's hard finding a seat at lunch. They also take cash only. Atmosphere is pretty chatty but charming. It has a British theme going on. The owners are from there. It has several specialty coffees. These are about $3 for a small and $5 for a regular. I had the Cin Lizzy. This is made with cinnamon, mocha, and vanilla. Central Perc is also known for its afternoon tea, which brings in the crowd. There's plenty of pastries to choose from. Off-days happen, I get it. Nobody can be perfect all the time. I try to remember these sentiments as I write this review of a recent visit for afternoon tea. The process: we called ahead to let them know our group of five (including 4 vegetarians) was coming to tea. Although they don't officially take reservations, they told us if we arrived at 2pm a table would be ready for us. Indeed, upon arriving a table was set up for our party, complete with a reserved sign, however while we were waiting to check in, another group entered, and instead of waiting in line, sat right down at our reserved table, leaving us nowhere to sit. It took 20+ minutes of whispered conversation in the back before the owner emerged, after which the other party was relocated and our table was re-set up. The tea: we ordered the house blend and rose petal teas, both of which were tasty, however one tea arrived lukewarm, while the other was nice and hot. Tea is served with both white and brown sugar lumps as well as milk. When the pots run dry, they typically bring more hot water to freshen up the tea. Due to being busy, however, we had to make multiple requests both for additional hot water, and sugar refills. The food: we realize it can be difficult to accommodate vegetarians on a whim, so we called ahead to let them know we were coming, and reminded them once more upon check-in. Despite this, we received several non-vegetarian tea sandwiches, and had to ask twice for replacements. To be fair, when the vegetarian sandwiches finally arrived, they gave us quite a few more than was necessary to replace the meaty ones. In addition to flavorful and unique tea sandwiches, our treats included cherry pie, Victoria sandwiches, and scones piled with fruit spread and cream. The scones were a little dry for my preference, but everything else was delicious. Overall, the concept of a local, family-owned European tea shop is a winner, and I'm sure afternoon tea is usually an amazing experience. Despite the snags above, I had a nice time, and would certainly be willing to give Central Perc another try, but as service does seem to suffer with higher capacity, maybe when they're a little less busy. read more

I absolutely love finding cafes especially something like this! I've been meaning to try this place for awhile since I love tea & was curious to see how they made their scones. The texture of scone was delicate and I loved how light it was! It wasn't too sweet and was great with the jam & butter (my friend got jam & cream). It paired really well! Really lovely service and portions. It is a chic mom and pop tea room serving up sandwiches, salads, and delicious teas. Go early for the most availability, as they do sell out of items. The egg salad sandwich was delish! The inside is very cozy (re:tiny) so you may either need to go outside or take it to go. They only take cash, so know that going in. High Tea anyone? I love High Tea. This ranks right up there with any I've ever had...although my favorite was at the Grand Victorian Hotel in Victoria and they served champage with strawberries in it. But this is Dayton, and you won't find a better high tea here....or any other high tea to be honest. You start from the bottom with finger sandwiches, move up classy desserts, and end with scones. Scones aren't my favorite, but these are good with dried fruit in them and fresh fruit on top. Be warned...they don't take cards. But there's a bank next door with an ATM, and they told me to enjoy my tea before hitting up the ATM. That was nice. And with the beautiful weather we're having this summer, I like to sit outside. Their high tea is delightful and their monthly English Breakfasts durning the winter are not to be missed. They also offer Brit in a Box which is high tea to go. This is now our favorite light breakfast place. The owners, who are from Liverpool UK, really make you feel as if you are in a welcoming British Inn. We had a scone and egg with a latte and cafe mocha. The scone, jam, and cream, is exactly as we recall from our trips to the UK and Ireland.
