When it came out, it didn't look that appealing. But it was delicious. The bread made the sandwich. Would have liked it hotter (think mine was ready first and they served all three at the same time). Stopped here late morning on a Friday. Love the building and location, but worried a bit as soon as we were seated at worn chairs and a sticky but clean looking table (maybe need better cleaning solution?). We were seated right away, and our server was busy, and was friendly enough but seemed to be having a rough day. Eggs benedict was ok, eggs a bit overdone. Biscuits and 'sausage' gravy were also just ok. When restaurants advertise sausage gravy, I expect sausage pieces in the gravy, but not much sausage or flavor to the gravy. Eggs and bacon were good. Server checked on us frequently but it felt like just a drive-by. So eating experience was ok but not great. My big issue is the women's bathroom. The whole thing looked like it hadn't had a good cleaning in a long time. If you zoom on the photo you can see mud on the wall from people foot-flushing. And foot flushing is understandable - I didn't want to touch anything! The only soap was already watered down and the bottle practically empty - what does that tell you of likelihood the staff gets hands clean?! Sure, they may have a kitchen sink for that purpose, but a bathroom in this state sends a bad cleanliness message. If the owner can afford shares of racehorses, surely he could afford to upkeep this place better. It has good potential in a good location. read more

We knew they had early hours and got there in time. So glad we did! We went in thinking breakfast. Then read the menu. It was quite difficult to narrow down what to order. After the servers third check on our table I finally had my order ready. I got the Spice Island Chicken. Not spicy but big and good. And messy. I'm full! I would definitely get something else next time but it was ok. She got half order home fries and a half order biscuits and gravy. Stacked em. It was good. She said she'd order it again. This was our first visit to this establishment. I read reviews before going so I could have a heads up on any issues. The parking lot is small but we were fortunate to pull right into a space. We put our name on the list and there was a 20 minute wait. Considering the size of the restaurant, it wasn't bad. My wife and I ordered French toast, they had a nice taste to them. It was more than enough to satisfy my hunger. My wife could not eat all of hers. I didn't order coffee, because not everyone has strong coffee. I ordered chili to go and the taste is very good. The tables are close but we didn't feel cramped. The wait for our food wasn't long. I didn't catch our server's name but she was very attentive and cordial. This was an incredibly popular spot for 9:15am on a Sunday morning. I got the waffle, eggs and bacon. My husband got the peanut butter pancakes, eggs, home fries and bacon. Both of us agreed that everything was good, but not great. The waffle was more thick and less fluffy for my taste. The home fries were good. The hot chocolate was delicious. Ok. So the price is a little higher than I expected, but the service was on point. The eggs were hot and the pancakes, fluffy. Coffee was strong, not like that Hasty Tasty brown water. This was one the brunch places that popped up for downtown Dayton so we decided to check it out. Wait time was under 15 minutes as there is limited seating for a small diner set up. Food: the food looked really tasty and we had high hopes but it did not deliver. Positives: the hash browns, pancakes and waffles were delicious. The chicken wings were very greasy and yet very dry. The steak omelette was way too greasy for my liking so the overall omelette tasted like grease and I could not finish it. Atmosphere: Cute diner set up. Good hearty breakfast large enough for a lumberjack. I ordered the Southern Scrambler and I wasn't disappointed. In fact I didn't read the fine print that said two side items were included. I decided on the potatoes and pancakes. I was barely able to finish the scrambled eggs and potatoes,and had to pack the pancakes to go. The coffee was a bit in the bitter side...but the half and half helped to smooth things out even though I usually drink my coffee black. Service was really good...and the coffee cups were never empty. The place is kind of small so probably not a good place for a party larger than 6 people.
