Central Rock Gym is the place to go if you're looking for a rock climbing place in the area! I've only visited once but I had such a fun time. I had no idea they had a fitness room with machines + good amount of equipment needed to get a good workout in. They have one side that is geared towards beginner rock climbers & more difficult climbs on the other side for more advanced climbers. Workers are super kind and are helpful. A friendly and welcoming Rock Climbing Gym for any level of experience! I only rock climbed once and recently wanted to try it again for fun. This spot was not crowded at all and had a lot of open area to try new things. There is a video that they have you watch to get an understanding of the gym, and what sections are for what type of climb. The staff was also very nice in answering questions and making sure you are safe. For beginner climbers, you can climb on short rocks without gear and you can climb tall rocks with gear. There is a large section of the gym where you need a certificate to climb so those were off limits to me. Overall I spent about an hour and a half trying each climb. A very good spot to check out if you are a beginner or just need an open space to climb. read more

We took a group of Cub Scouts to Central Rock in Randolph, and everything from the ease of planning the outing with the staff to the visit itself was excellent. Margo was somehow able to hold the attention of the kids to teach them the basics of climbing safely--I have no idea how she was able to do it. The kids all had a great time. This climbing gym is amazing -- the staff is so nice and helpful and there are great climbing routes for all ages and skill levels. Whether you are a new climber who needs help getting started or you have kids (they have great classes for little ones) and our daughter so enjoys coming. Matt who teaches our daughter's class is so great with the kids and they learn climbing skills, strength, agility, confidence, and teamwork. Had a great experience today! I brought my 9 year old son for assisted staff belay. We signed up for an hour session for $30 each. We had a blast and our belayer was very patient and helpful in teaching my son how to approach each area. There are varying levels of difficulty in the main room and a kids room with varying levels of difficulty. Will definitely be back! read more

I love this place!!! CRG holds a very special place in my heart. My friends and I went more than three times a week during the spring and I enjoyed every bit of it! The staff are so friendly and helpful, the atmosphere is great, and the climbs change regularly! Central Rock Gym is also very beginner-friendly! Great for kids and the price is the cherry on top, $10 for kids that are climbing and that includes all rental gear for them! Amazing! My 4 year old goes up and down the walls using the automatic belayer and my 1.5 year old runs around going on the slide and playing with all the toys. Wonderful place! Just beware that they do ocassionally have birthday parties in the kids area so I'd call before hand on the weekends (you can still do stuff but it's a little more limited when there a birthday party in the kids area) read more

I came here with my boyfriend and two other friends (who are already members). It was my boyfriend's and my first time rock climbing and we had signed up online for the Belay class. We arrived, got checked in for our class, and were given the free rental gear (free for anyone's first time at the gym). Once we changed and got our gear on, we were given a tour of the facilities. I was really impressed by how clean the place. They have locker rooms with lockers and bathrooms and cubbies near the front desk for you to leave your bags/shoes. Our belay class ended up being just me and my boyfriend (yay, semi-private lessons!). Our instructor (eek I dont remember his name) told us that it was one of his first times teaching the class but he was AMAZING. Super friendly and just a great teacher overall. He gave us concise and easy to remember instructions and gave us ample opportunities to practice. The belay class includes a day pass for the day of the class, so my boyfriend and I stayed around to climb. We appreciated the variety of climbs available (several climbs for each level/range of difficulty). We're hoping that we can come again another time to get our belay certification and climb some more. For students, a monthly membership is $65/month and includes the climbing facility, the gym, exercise classes, etc. The only thing is that we wish there was a location closer/more T accessible to where we live! read more

My girlfriend has been nagging me to get a membership here together with her for a little while now and after that first session I am more than pleased with that decision! This gym offers climbing for all varieties of indoor climbing beginner to expert, the staff is extremely friendly and helpful, and the facilities are clean. Prices are fair and I feel as though we got a great deal with the membership sign up. The gave us equipment and a free lesson on belaying! Very excited to be coming here more regularly! read more

I've only gone to 2 other places so I don't know how to compare BUT my initial visit won't be my last. Staff is friendly and very knowledgeable. Place is clean with plenty of things to do. There's a small room with gym equipment and they also have fitness classes too. Love this place! Learned how to climb here, the guy gave myself and my friend a great lesson and now we can climb and belay on our own and it is truly a blast!!! They also have a little workout gym separate from the climbing area and a yoga studio - so while I'm waiting for my friend to meet me there I can get a little workout in which is amazing! read more

I am so happy I signed up! I've found the staff and clientele to be super helpful and friendly. I'm a total beginner climber and haven't felt out of place at all. I signed up for the Climbing Conditioning class on Mondays and have been climbing with a Meet-Up group on Wednesdays. I've only been attending for a few weeks and I can already feel/see results and I enjoy this so much more than a regular gym. If you're curious, drop by on a Wednesday evening and say hi! Great deal for awesome climbs! I've been climbing at Central Rock Gym for over a year now and have not regretted it for a minute. I've climbed at the Hadley, Cambridge, Watertown and Randolph locations. The ability to go to any of the CRG gyms makes this a great deal. The space is always very well-lit, clean and spacious. Randolph, out of the three gyms near Boston, has the best top rope routes in my opinion. It also has a good amount of bouldering and lead routes. Aside from climbing, CRG also offers yoga, climbing technique classes, lead classes, and strengthening classes depending on the location. Classes come either free or discounted with the membership. The Randolph, Cambridge and Hadley locations also have their own gyms with cardio machines and weights. read more
