Swampy back yard with lots of crab grass, clovers, and straw. Prior to resodding.
    Jason L.

My wife and I were looking at getting our back resodded as the contractors who built our home basically laid sod over rocks. We were getting quotes of about $1500 to $2000 for 500 square feet of land to be resodded for us. So we did our research and ordered garden soil to level our yard and sod. Our total costs for the 3 terra totes of garden soil was $381 and $381 for 500 square feet of sod. The sod was excellent quality and had much thicker soil than sod purchased from Lowes or Home Depot. There were different types of sod including DuraBlend which was rated to be the best grass for Maryland as per studies from the University Of Maryland Agriculture. They also have Kentuchy Bluegrass, Zoysia, Tall Fescues, and Bermuda. I also bought a Polypropylene wheelbarrel with 2 wheels for $70. So we saved $668-1168 doing it ourselves and ordering having much better quality soil and Sod. I did buy about 4 rolls of grass from Lowes which was slightly more expensive and poorer quality. This company came with their truck and fork lift and delivered our Sod and Soil to our desiginated spot marked with blue painters tape on our driveway. Sod installation was very easy. Central sod also had their own sod installation instructions. I watched youtube as well. But essentially, we laid garden soil over existing areas to kind of level out the land and give the sod something to actually grow on. Then we laid the sod in a brick like fashion with the sod going accross the slight downward slope we had.

Arrived at Central Sod Saturday May 30th at 730 am. The office opened around 745 am, about 15 minutes earlier than their website advised. The cashier was helpful and happy. After paying for your sod, you have to drive about 1 mile to where the workers are actively cutting sod. A worker operating a forklift asked which pallet of sod I wanted (there were 10-15 pallets full of fresh sod). The worker helped load the sod into my vehicle. Service was quick! Laying the sod wasn't difficult. The hardest part was carrying it to where you are going to lay it in your yard. My sod was 6 1/2 foot long by 18 inches wide. My 25ft by 25ft yard used a full pallet. Hope this is helpful.

    after one week, marvelous!

I travelled from DC to purchase sod for my yard. The sod is freshly cut, while you wait. It is very inexpensive too. I can't see paying x3 to buy at the local garden center, especially since it's been sitting around for a couple of days, makes all the difference! While I was there I stopped by Cantler's Riverside Inn for a crab cake sandwich.

Great product and even better advice. The best sod farm in Maryland, hands down! Zoysia experts.

I called several other companies that never returned my call. Donta was responsive and extremely professional answering all of my questions. Naj did a wonderful job at creating a design based on my list of "must haves" and my husband and I were impressed with the results. They were meticulous with the details and followed up for our feedback. This is our second project with them. The first job was clearing out our backyard and completing a full paver installation. I would definitely work with them again.

The plumbing company left a mess, damaging our tree, crushing bushes, and leaving big pile of dirt in the yard. We called Ridley's. They came out promptly for an estimate, and once we said yes, they came out promptly and did an amazing job. They did so well that our neighbor was watching them work and hired them on the spot to do some grading in his yard. For the grass, they offered us the option of doing sod or seed. We went with the seed, so the (after) picture just shows the straw, but we anticipate having a beautiful lawn next summer. They were highly professional, worked hard, and simply got the job done as it should be done. We talked to another company that seemed cheaper, but they didn't give me the confidence that Donta gave me, and now that the job is done, I can say that confidence was well placed.
