We stopped by Niemeyer because it was close to home and they had some nice Rockwood trailers on their website. We have decided to buy a trailer from them, and we drove away feeling so much better about the process than our first buying process. Niemeyer doesn't have a huge staff...we worked directly with Jim Niemeyer. There was no pressure, no add-on sales tactics...just a small business doing business the right way. Even though we are buying it in January, they will keep it in their back lot until we are ready to bring it home...for no cost and no hassles. WARNING, WARNING, WARNING! If you've had this company install a trailer hitch, please get it…read moreindependently inspected. Fortunately we discovered our hitch had been installed improperly before someone was killed from the hitch and trailer detaching from the car at highway speeds. They had left four of the bolts that hold the hitch to the car loose. The lock washers were so floppy they spun when you touched them. The wire harness was incorrectly installed so that it rubbed against bare metal instead of passing through the factory supplied rubber grommet and was beginning to cut into the wires. Lastly, they forgot to heat shrink the protective shrink wrap that keeps the brake controller wires from getting wet, corroding short circuiting. All three issues could lead to injury or death. We have pictures of all the issues. BUYER BEWARE!

While talking with…read morethe younger of the two brothers that own the place I explained to him my intentions of converting this cargo van into a camper van, and explained that having working AC was very important in my decision to purchase the vehicle. It was -22 degrees that day, but he PROMISED me (those where his words) that they had fixed and tested the AC. By the time warm weather arrived it was clear the AC didn't work. So I took it out to them to have them check it out, I drove all the way to Savage to have them pump a few cans of freon into it, that lasted about 5 days. After that didn't work I drove back out there and their mechanic explained that he thought that the valve was damaged, so he replaced it and put three more cans of freon in, this time it lasted three days. So I called them back and they explained that they were busy that day, but when they were able they would have me bring it back out and they would run dye through the system to see if they could at least figure out where it was leaking from. Today I called back to see when a good time to do this would be and they told me that they couldn't be bothered with helping me any more and that I would just have to take it somewhere else and pay for it myself, and then they hung up on me. I get that their vehicles are sold as is, but while speaking with the younger brother he seemed fairly honorable, and he had promised me the AC was working. So when I brought it out the first time and they said they would get it working I believed them, I guess that is what I get for trusting a used car salesman. Don't buy from them, go down the road to CARGO VAN GO, or anywhere else. If you do buy from them, make sure EVERYTHING that is important to you is in perfect working order before you drive it off the lot.

I'm just handy and skilled, so I generally do all my own work and don't rely on a service department. The sales/purchase process was easy and without pain. Sure, the finance guy tried to sell me all kinds of extended warrantee's but he quickly figured out that I know how to say "NO" six different ways. Happy I got a phenomenal price and love my new camper.
