It was... Okay, I guess. The room appeared clean. There was hot water. TV worked. Not hard to find a parking spot. Used the treadmill and weights in the workout room. Otherwise, I can't say I was impressed. It met basic needs without any panache or other alluring traits. That's something I'd expect from a Best Western. I think there was at some point a remodel that was rushed. The obvious gaps in the crown molding were jarring. And the not-uniform paint on the textured ceiling also looked like someone's kid did the work. Even given that, the room decor was dated. I requested "The quietest room on the top floor". I got one of those things. The room was on the top floor. Around five AM I was woken up by weird pipe sounds and thudding from the wall. Not great. There was also a chair in the back corner that if you sat in you could just hear a constant loud oscillating humming that was very grating. Super glad we only stayed here one night. Otherwise, I would have been super put out by the noise. I was expecting more for the cost. The expensive bottled water in the room at any hotel is always an affront to me. I mean C'mon. Obvious price gouging is just gauche. The front desk people were nice. The view of the parking lot obscured by large clouds of steam emitting from something below at random intervals made me not go out on the balcony. If there were any other amenities to be had, I wasn't informed of them. read more

The rooms were decent. Good view of the lake. The balcony was kind of dirty looking. The staff was kind. The pool room is my biggest concern. The pool looked fine, however it was chilly. The hot tub is a relaxing temperature but there are too many chemicals in it. The hot tub made my eyes burn randomly every time I got in it. At one point I started coughing and I wasn't breathing great. Please fix the hot tub. read more

We were very much excited to stay at this hotel for the last half of our trip, and disappointed to find out that the photos online are a bit misleading. The hotel is advertised and priced as if the rooms are updated, or the location is unbeatable. Realistically the rooms are simple and outdated, and the location is across from a very busy road. Booked this motel thinking it would be very nice being closed to man-made lake and the cost was very spendy so being that expensive I thought I was getting a very nice room. We overlooked the parking lot not the lake It looked to be empty of people that was my first clue probably not the best. If you have reason to stay in this area, it's hard to imagine a choice much better than this one. Nice building, good staff, huge rooms, and very comfortable beds. All the fixtures are nice, and you should easily be out the door for under $200. You can't ask for much more at the price. The place seems to have a couple of other nice little touches in effect--on the other side of the building there's a little lake, and some nice lighting at night. Looks good in photos, but it's not like this is a resort. You're in an office park, more or less, with a little bit of retail and foodservice around. Big 4-lane suburban roads churning by. They seem to straddle that line between business traveler without too much business nearby, and pleasure traveler without any specific pleasures nearby (okay, that sounded a tiny bit weird). But if you need a place to stay and this is within your radius, you'll have no complaints. I was in town for the first birthday party for a charming one-year-old I know, and I wasn't about to impose on her folks for crash space. The Century was close by, and more than filled the bill. There's plenty of parking, and they don't waste a lot of space on pretend grandeur; the entryway is a couple of doors like you'd see in a grocery store, and the lobby has just enough room for a few people and their bags if everybody's waiting for a tour bus at the same time. Staff are pleasant and professional and thoroughly trained, even if you check in at 11 (like I did). Upstairs you go to a room with comfortable queen beds and extra tables and comfortable chairs--and there's plenty of room to walk around all of it. The curtains get the room absolutely and completely dark. The mattresses have that nice balance of supportive firmness and enough cush to keep you from getting sore if you're a couch potato like I am. Plenty of pillows; nobody has to ask for extras. The bathroom are nice--big counters, well-lit, plenty of floor space. Big shower that's kinda like a tub/shower combo but the sides are low. Good water pressure, instant heat. They're checking all the boxes. There's even free breakfast if you get there by 9. The TV is big enough to enjoy a ballgame or whatever dreck is on the tube when you need to doze off or wake up. The coffee in the room is decent. I'd more than happily stay here again. They invest in all the stuff that actually makes you comfortable, and don't spend money on flashy stuff like fountains and marble lobbies and whatnot that raises your cost without actually helping you get a good night's sleep. read more

STOP; stay away!!! How disappointing!. After 30-years of doing business with, and going out of my way to stay at the Century Hotel, they've now forgone their unique, "boutique" vibe for that of a complete "sell-out" in the name of profit! Checked into the hotel, got up to my room, unpacked, undressed, then went to shower after a full day of travel. What!? No running water? What's all of the noise? Evidently, the hotel is under construction to make way for a new restaurant, but they're reluctant to inform their guests of the highly disruptive activity at the risk of losing business, either online at booking, or, at check-in. Spoke with Manager Veronica who stated "that since none of their other guests have EVER complained, they don't feel the obligation to inform their new, arriving guests" of the dismal, daily conditions... Seriously? No other guests have ever complained about the lack of running water nor the overwhelming sounds of heavy construction? Charlie, there once was a time when you cared about the quality of your guests stay, and would often be seen around the hotel interacting and asking "if there was anything that you could do to make their stay better"? Now that you've sold-off Hayden's, you have Veronica out-front stating that nobody complains about the sub-standard quality of Century's current offering??? A great find! Drove by this place for years when I lived down the road in Sherwood . And even had dinner and walked around the lake a few times, but forgot that it was also a hotel. So glad I was able to book it this week! Rooms are CLEAN, updated, modern, roomy, and the beds are very comfortable! My room has a balcony and was great to have the door open. I did not get the lake view this time, but I will in a few weeks when I come back. To sum up the rooms in two words.... Very comfortable! 5 stars! Breakfast, In the morning you get to eat in the restaurant and your food is cooked to order, and it is real bacon, eggs, and hash brown! Not the food you get at the Holiday inn.. Those of you that travel a lot know what I'm talking about. Food is awesome and hot and fresh to order! 5 stars! Staff is all very friendly! Always making me feel welcome! So would I recommend this place? Heck yes! This is my new go to place anytime I'm in Portland.. Great find! read more

I stayed in this hotel after reading the reviews and was pretty happy with the room and staff. It pretty much comes down to Lake view which costs more or Parking lot view you pay less. I was on the 3rd floor and my room was way down the wing which was a bit of a pain, but better then near the ice machine since in the AM I could hear the cleaning crews going at it. The staff was super nice and the room was pretty good, my TV remote batteries were a bit flakey and 1 of the lights in the bathroom was out for the whole 3 days, all minor stuff, the bed was very comfy and I wanted to steal a pillow, they had 5 of them on my King bed !! The lobby also has coffee and the rooms have coffee pods, no decaf. Everything was clean and tidy inside and outside of the room ! OK here is my issue about this Hotel and free am breakfast which was pretty good by the way if you can make it nextdoor by 9am ????? No really, 9am is the cut off at Hyden's for the free breakfast ... Really people I can see 10am, but not all of us rise with the sun.. So that's was the only big issue and the mini refrig wasn't really cold, ok and the 2 large bottles of Smartwater for 5.00 on top of the cabinet ... ok vent done ;) read more

And I know people always talk about racism and this person's racist and that person's racist but as an African-American I very rarely feel it however while trying to check into this hotel I've never felt more discriminated against. read more

Loved this hotel. I always try to stay in one of a kind, family-run hotels, and this was one of these lovely unique places I'll never forget. My husband & I had a lakeside king room, it was wonderful. So spacious and comfortable, very quiet. Super clean. And what a view! I had a glass of wine at sunset and my morning coffee on our balcony. Just loved it. The parking is convenient and free, the breakfast is delicious and is included with your stay (at the beautiful restaurant next door). We used the pool and the gym. The staff was very friendly and helped us figure out some local wineries. I liked that it was only a few mins away from downtown Portland (where we needed to be) but a bit more affordable. Loved the park nearby (Tualatin Commons) where we took a walk after dinner and enjoyed the lake views. Highly recommend this place! read more

We spent the night here while we were in town for the Crawfish festival a short walk away. This hotel is absolutely beautiful. Our room was spacious and clean. The complimentary breakfast was also really good. There was a little of everything the stand outs for me were the corned beef hash and crepes. There were also mini chicken fried steaks which I never normally get but had to try. That also was superb. We would definitely stay here again. read more

My go to hotel in Oregon. This makes me Oregon proud. I have found my diamond in the rough even though the price to stay here is a huge pain in the butt. For a splurge this place isn't too bad if you are taking a trip for the purpose of running your own business or service. I don't care what hotel room they give me, I'll just take it and go. If you are super lucky then you can get a nice lake view room because Tualatin is known for its prestigious lake. Breakfast is provided if you opt to stay in rather than drive or take the bus someplace else. Even if you do go off site everything you need is right where you want it. Not going through the list but check google maps, you won't be disappointed. In terms of rooms, it's always so clean. The staff works extra harder than those in chain hotels. Bathroom is not dirty, sleeping area has no weird smell and the heater is so quiet you can hear a pin drop. As per Oregon's promise of professionalism and organics, this hotel goes beyond the call. Stayed at this lovely Century Hotel on my last visit to Portland . Staff is all smiles and friendly and how was your day? The rooms are recently remodeled and HUGE! My fiance and I were going to Portland to have an "Adult Night" and drop our little one off at a friends. When we got there we failed to book a hotel in advance. We wanted to be downtown and close to everything, but every single one of the 18 hotels that I called in Portland were booked full. I guess there was a marathon the next day, we weren't running it obviously! So we started looking outside the city and I was not impressed...until I came across the listing for Century Hotel! WOW, the lakeside hotel looked amazing. I immediately started booking a room. I was a little let down when all they had available was rooms with 2 double beds and they were on the street side with no view of the lake. Boo! But I went ahead and booked the room at a very fair price for what it looked like. I called and spoke with a man at century to see if there was a chance that we could get a room on the lake side with a view. I explained that I was treating my fiance to a special "date night" and really wanted to make it special. He told me that it was all booked up and the only rooms available were on the street side. When we arrived that evening we were warmly greeted by a very nice man at the front counter named Rich. When I introduced myself he lit up and said "oh yes, I spoke with you on the phone!" he treated us like old friends and was very pleasant. He said, "Since your having a special night together..." (he remembered) "...I suppose that you would like the King bed suite with the lake view that just cancelled?!?!" What, really, amazing!!! After expressing our gratitude and receiving our awesome coupons for free breakfast in the Restaurant downstairs, we entered our even more amazing room. Everything here was done with a touch of class. The service we amazing, and the hotel was beautiul in a quaint little quiet down, (with one heck of a night life BTW) and an amazing restaurant downstairs called Haydens. If you are staying in this neck of the woods, then this is the place! I would make a comparison to a courtyard marriott in decor and comfort. We stayed thanksgiving week and loved it. Def add the upgrade for the lake view room. You make up the difference when they give you free breakfast in their adjoining restaurant! A REAL breakfast too! I've used this hotel for a couple of family reunions, and large corporate weekends, and they do a GREAT job of custom tailoring their catering and were very welcoming...So great to know I can just turn everything over to their events person and its taken care of! They have tailored several events for me to fit my budget, and the catering department has NEVER upsold me, which is noteworthy. The rooms are gracious and well appointed. Down pillows and great mattresses. They do a great job of being down to earth and welcoming (read : NOT stuffy) but yet they are classy all the way. This is a family owned and run operation, and the pride is evident everywhere. I always try and choose a nice locally owned non-chain boutique hotel over the Hampton Inns and lower Starwood chains. I was blown away by the "free" cooked to order breakfast at the attached restaurant. During our stay there was a farmers market around the lake and an outdoor movie. We were so pleasantly surprised by this hotel! An absolute gem in every way--from front desk check-in to clean scent, clean,tended, and huge rooms. No skimping on drapes or pillows. We noticed all the ways they care. Now a special note about Hayden's restaurant and grill which is the buffet breakfast next door. Wow--fresh everything like crepes, fruit, sausage, oatmeal, biscuits... You have to stay two nights just to experience all the great breakfast options. They were just starting their new buffet service and they got it right! The owner of Haydens was there meeting people, collecting plates. Clearly this whole operation is run by responsible grownups . Even the staff seemed happy to do their jobs. Terrific location close to stores and restaurants. Quiet at night. Good hvac. Nice lobby with complementary coffee. Hotels of all kinds should take notes from Century's operations. The cherry on top is that the rates are in line with the likes of HiltonGarden Inn. read more

I gave the hotel 1 star because less than 0 isn't an option - it should be called "The Century Ago" hotel. Generally speaking, this place is the epitome of false advertising: It is nowhere near Portland metro, being that it is "centrally located in Tualatin's business district" (which by the way is like being the first office to the right on the 3rd floor of a 6-story medical clinic - there's nothing particularly interesting about the location in the first place) and while it is affordable for a hotel, the experience is more like that of a converted Motel 6 (except the outdoor renovations),but don't expect the same service or ambiance as The Grand Hotel or another 3-star venue. We reserved a room block for our guests coming in from all over the country - NY to LA - and couldn't have been more disappointed in that decision. When you consider you can stay at the Grand in Tigard (right near Bridgeport and closer to Lake Oswego/Portland metro with shuttle service and ACTUAL amenities) for less in most cases than a "lakeside" view at this hotel - conveniently located in the 'burbs of SW Portland (where life shuts down after 8 pm without a $20+ uber ride to elsewhere) we left feeling robbed of $660 for 3 nights' stay (taxes are $20, and embarrassed to have suggested this venue to our guests staying locally for our wedding in Sherwood. When we checked in late evening Friday at the front desk, the staff" were nice but not above and beyond, and acted/appeared to be brought in from a temp agency or on call for the regular staff; dressed in casual clothing and seemingly incapable of doing much without consulting another staff member. The elevator ride to the room should've been an indication of the "trapped" feeling I'd have all weekend, as the hotel walls, floors, and rooms are beige, puke/pea green, or crap brown, and adorned with "artwork" I wouldn't waste driving to the thrift shop to donate - a few reprinted and cheaply framed polka dot wall hangings true to the "old world ambiance" they are going for. The furniture appears to have been purchased through a close-out sale or from an office building that redecorated - the colors made me feel like I was back in my office cubicle - pale, cheap, and unappealing. No wonder all the featured pics are of the outside view, which was lovely from our one window that looks through the "deck" to the "lake", but is nonexistent from the balcony door where the view would be visible from the bed, as the door faces the side wall of the building/patio (no view). The lone window was also located above the room's archaic heater/AC wall unit that uses a "hot/cool" or "blue/red" dial as the thermostat - impossible to get to a decent temperature since it sits under the window and is in the furthest corner from the rest of the room where the guests would be located 90% of the time. The "services" at the hotel are better matched to that of a Days Inn located along a stretch of highway with no other services for 100+ miles - decent if there's nothing else and you don't want to sleep in the roach motel but overpriced for the experience. There is no valet, bellhop, or concierge, and the hotel features only one elevator that barely fits the rickety luggage cart with 2 people. The property "features" an attached restaurant/bar that is accessible only via hotel exit and reentry at the opposite end to the hotel lobby (so if it's raining, it's not so conveniently attached). There are no spas, salons, or other services on-site, and if there's a fitness center I didn't see it. The pool/hot tub are located behind a door that at first glance could be mistaken for the janitor's closet, and is basically a concrete slab with a pool and hot tub right next to one another, featuring the type of plastic chairs/tables you find at an end of summer clearance. There are no windows inside the pool area and the ventilation sucks (or doesn't if I'm being literal), so it's stuffy and smells like chlorine. There are no fresh towels available there - you must bring from your room or grab from the laundry room if you can find it . The location is certainly conveniently close to I-5, but Tualatin is located amidst all the things people generally take a vacation from - unnecessary traffic, doctors/dentists, carpool lots, grocery stores, your local breakfast all-day café, and strip malls overloaded with chain stores and pet food. It is 40+ minutes from wine country (so yes, only "minutes" away so long as you don't care how many), at least a 25 minute drive to downtown Portland (ie-$20+ uber ride), and almost 30 miles from the airport with a 2+ hour mass-transit ride to get there or back and not shuttle available. The hotel is located near nothing interesting unless Buffalo Wild Wings is your idea of fine dining and shopping at Cabela's seems exotic, The Oregon coast is still 2 hours away though offers rooms/rates that are similar (if not less) - consensus by all our guests was that it was overpriced. read more

It's clean, spacious and nicely appointed...has the feeling of a resort. A breakfast is included at the adjoining restaurant and I was expecting the usual buffet but instead had a choice of six nice breakfasts. Don't stay here! The owner, Charlie, is one of the rudest tyrants I have met in the service industry in a long time! We came for a quiet stay and were told that the third floor, where we had secured our room, was under construction. The noise has been unbelievable... but the staff assured us it would only be the first day. Day two, the noise continued, and Charlie informed us that he didn't care what we had been told.... and we would just have to deal with it - or we could leave. I recently attended a retreat at the Century Hotel. On the last day of the event, I accidentally left one of my favorite bracelets in the conference room. When I got back to Seattle and realized my mistake, I called the hotel in a panic. Not only did the front desk already have my bracelet, they kindly offered to ship it to me, and it arrived just a few days later. I am so appreciative of their kind, prompt return of my lost item. For months we asked questions, viewed rooms, had various requests- they were kind, patient, attentive, and I think all requests were accommodated. Came here for our 10th wedding anniversary and we really enjoyed our stay! We very much appreciated the free upgrade on our room! It was an incredibly spacious room dare I say small home with a front room with a pull out couch, TV and full 4 seater table, then an area with a wet bar with mini fridge and coffee station as well as a bathroom vanity area, then a bathroom with tub and a separate master bed room area with a door. It was VERY quiet and I very much appreciated a great night of sleep! We got a great deal booking through the website -came with drink coupons (or 2 mini desserts) for their restaurant and breakfast buffet (food was cold, but tasty with a wide variety of high quality food and excellent service). We did have dinner at the restaurant too and the food was excellent and reasonably priced-although the service was a bit slow it did give us a chance to enjoy our meal and each other. We were able to get a great Lake view for both meals-which I highly recommend. There are several massage places within easy walking distance around the lake as well as nail and hair salons, if this of interest. read more

There is nothing overtly wrong with this hotel, the staff is friendly, the rooms are clean, if a bit outdated, and the price is pretty low. My only complaints are that the hotel itself is oddly laid out - it doesn't feel like a typical hotel, it feels clinical, almost like it used to be a nursing home or similar. My two room suite had a nicely appointed, if outdated, living, dining area, and bedroom, but the furniture and decor are very 80s (who needs a landline phone in the bathroom anyway), and, of my two balconies, one had a fairly nice view overlooking the "lake" and the other overlooked the parking lot. (Again, nothing overly wrong with two balconies in a small-ish hotel room, but it's odd). Also, the 2 room suite doesn't have a work space, which is something I typically look for. All in all, not a bad hotel, but not as up to date as some other options in the area. read more

LACK OF CONCERN IN REGARDS TO DISAPPOINTMENTS MADE AT MY DAUGHTER"S WEDDING RECEPTION...This review is for Century Hotel as well as Haydn's as we stayed here and worked with the coordinator of the hotel for my daughter's reception. My family was disappointed with some concerns we had during my daughter's wedding reception. I did not know of all concerns and disappointments shared till after the reception. The Jumbo Shrimp Louie my daughter, myself, some wedding party and a few guests did not get what was promised to us two days before the wedding. The salad we received was like half a head of lettuce with 4-5 shrimp the size of a nickel on the plate. This was nothing like the photo that was sent as the photo sent showed jumbo shrimp-like prawns piled on top. Everyone who had the salad was disappointed and hungry afterward. We also did not get great drink service as we either had to wait for drinks or had to ask several times. Lastly, the table layout was not what we agreed on as the wedding party table was on one far end and the guest/family tables were on the other. Because of this, it made it hard for a few people with disabilities to get around and be a part of the reception. Important family members had to sit far away and miss out. When bringing this to the attention of our coordinator, she just said "sorry you feel this way" instead of saying sorry we did not deliver what we had promised. She gave the excuse that seafood prices went up and they had to adjust...WHAT...two days before the wedding. I asked her two days beforehand if everything was going to be as what she showed me in pictures. She said yes, but that was not the case two days later. I asked what they could do, to make it up to us...like either refund us half the cost of salads or maybe give us a small gift cert as we did not get what we paid for. I have been blown off ever since. No one will address these issues and the complaints have been completely ignored. On top of this, I was overcharged for my room and a pair of new shoes that were delivered to the hotel for the wedding never made it in time in which I asked them to refuse shipment when it came. Instead, they received my package 11 days ago with no intention of calling me to let me know my shoes arrived. Because they did not refuse the package, I was charged and had to pay some bank charges due to having insufficient funds in my bank. Then when I came in on Mother's day after the wedding they questioned why I came in, why because it has been a family tradition and I was hoping to talk to the manager, yet the manager did not take the time to listen to our concerns. Instead, he pulled out his phone and read an email from my mom saying that my mom said everything was great and she was unaware of any issues. This is not true as my mom said in the email that she did learn of some complaints and that apparently there were issues. Yet the restaurant denied my mom said that. Even if my mom did say this, the issue is my mom who paid lives in CA and was not the one who heard the disappointments from others...I did though being the mother of the bride. I found out this morning they called my mom and credited her, yet I leave this review because they never acknowledged me or apologized to me as the mother of the bride who learned of the disappointments, was overcharged and never informed me my shoes arrived in which I was charged and had to pay bank fees because they did not refuse the package as they promised. Instead, my phone calls, emails, and complaints have all been ignored and I never received acknowledgment or an apology. I have been in the wedding industry for over 10 years and I am shocked to have received the service we did! Very sad that my family who lives here in Oregon no longer wants to come back to a place that was a tradition for our family for the past 6 years. read more

My friend and I shared a hotel room for a few days, as we were in a wedding and roughly 5 rooms were booked by others attending The wedding. We received a rate of $171/night. We booked the hotel, based on the pictures found online and upon recommendation from The bride. We enter and the day time staff was very friendly. We entered our room and immediately noticed the musty smell. We opened the door to let air in. (It didn't go away!) The beds were comfortable, but my complaint is that the bride and groom were looking forward to their Jacuzzi suite. The Jacuzzi was broken and dirty! They thought after a long day of wedding festivities, they could come back and relax. I spoke with the bride today and learned the hotel did nothing for them. No discount, no partial refund, nada. Our beds were comfortable, but the outdated hotel and smell was not worth 170/night. We only stayed because things were so chaotic with wedding, we would not have had the time to search for another place. read more

I won a gift certificate at an auction and was excited to try this quiet, boutique hotel out. We were 100% impressed. The rooms are VERY clean, and spacious and the view of the lake during the summer is beautiful. We happened to stay on a weekend when the city was putting on some sort of farmers market and there was also a concert we could sit and listen to. We ordered room service from Hayden's next door and loved the relaxed feel of our dinner, concert and room. read more
