Fuuuuuuuck century link! I will never use this service provider again!! 2 years ago I moved into an apartment that required me to use Century Link and DirectTV. The whole year I lived there my boyfriend was unable to connect to the WiFi on his phone which he needed for work. Then we rented a house, I transferred services to our new location in hope it would be better. We only kept the WiFi service and canceled the DirectTV portion since we only stream things. When doing so, I was told I would receive a new modem. Then a week went by and I called in asking about be the new modem I was told about, then was told 'oh your not getting a new mode just use the same one', so we did. For the 2 years we lived at this location the WiFi dragged and disconnected many times. We would go weeks without any internet connection. When we would call in about connection issues, none of the customer service reps even knew what we were talking about nor how to fix our problems. Finally they would sent out a technician just to inform us other technicians were removing our connect from the community electric box and replacing it with others. This happened about 2-3 times to us. When my boyfriend and I decided to move out of our renter and purchase our own home we decided to stop dealing with century link because of their poor service and communication. I called and canceled the services and set up with Cox. The cancellation went smoothly and the sales rep didn't try to save me as a customer in anyway..not that it would've worked. Now a week later into my new home I receive a welcome letter in the mail from Century Link. Thanking me for signing up for DirectTV as a stand alone service..I NEVER ASKED FOR DIRECT TV AS A SERVICE!! The letter provides the date it was set up, the order number, a new account number and a access code. The letter also states if I have any questions to contact Century Link at 866-450-6152. Nothing on the letter states to contact DirectTC at any point. When I closed my account the sneaky fucking sales rep took it upon himself to set me up with a service I never asked for. Yesterday I sat on the phone for an hour being transferred multiple times between many Century Link reps and Direct TV agents. Every time I called I would start in the billing department. Century Links billing department would inform me since Century Link sent the letter and and set up the services they are to close it then I would be transferred to a customer service rep to cancel the service. The customer service reps claimed my WIFi account was close (which I have viewed online) and there was no active account for me and I need to contact DirectTV directly to cancel the service that Century Link set up then they would transfer me to Direct TV without allowing me to say anymore on the matter. They never asked what was on the letter I received. Direct tv stated they could not locate an active account, all they could find was my old apt account that has been closed for 2 years and the account number I was provided my welcome letter was a Century Link account number and they cant pull up any of that information. On another round of transfers with Century Link an agent could not locate the account number located on my welcome letter and provided me with a Direct TV account number but when being transferred to DirectTV once again it still was invalid. This kept going on till they closed at 6pm and I would get disconnected. Today I attempted all this again, this time I requested for supervisors, the agents avoided getting me a superior and attempted to transfer me to Direct TV again! I was able to get the reps attention before he cold transferred me and demanded a Century Link supervisor. He placed me on hold and tried to deescalate the situation by telling me he was able to finally locate the account number that was on welcome letter but there was nothing for him to do on his end. So I said 'awesome, I want your supervisor now since you can't do anymore.' The agent finally got me online with a supervisor and she began claiming there was nothing for Century Link as a company to do anything since the service I want to cancel is for Direct TV not them and they can only set up the services and Direct TV has to cancel them. The same bullshit I got the day prior. She offered to transfer me to Direct TV (like everyone prior) but this time she would stay on the line. During my wait the call got disconnected and I decided to call Direct TV once more. On that call, the agent was unable to provide me any information because none of the 3 addresses I have lived at was valid to him... I requested a Direct TV supervisor and he began telling me no one at Direct TV can cancel the services that Century Link has set up. Here we are full circle. Both companies keep advising me I wont get a bill and they better hope I don't because I'm tried of this bullshit. This is why I canceled my services!! I am in century link for years, and close my account due to going out of the country for 2 months, but came back after a month and re open my account... with new account been using it (internet) for 4months, in 4 months I been calling them for like 4-5 times due to my Internet is being very slow, and at my 7th month I receive a collection notice that I owe 100 something dollar (for the router) so I called them right away and ask that's up with that, and told them why sending me in collection my account still active at least send me a letter first or give me a call concerning my account why they will put me in collection or comfirm the account holder first or give a warning letter before send the account in collection.. but no , I received a letter that my account is already in collection, so I called them and representative told me the collection is for the router..router??? Router that I'm using from day one when I open my first account to them until today. **first when I re open my account I told them I still have the router from my old account and ask if I can still it for my new account (day 1 before I activate my new account) , so the representative told me yes absolutely, so I did.. but still they sent me new (refurbished) router.. *^that router still in the box remained un open (sealed)(I never use it) Anyways representative told me just send the router and they will fix or give the credit back/close that I owe nothing... So in short .. I sent router back called them and spoke to different, different representative (like 8 person) and give the tracking number and confirm my situation. . And told me ok, nothing to worry no more... but still I called them the next day after I sent the router and gAve the tracking number to make sure everything is clear and no collection going to my credit report (I'm very consern to my credit score) working my ass off to build my credit.. representative told me "again" ok we all got the info nothing to worry this will be fix.. **that was my last call to them (called them multiple times) So I feel relief after my last call... But after 4 weeks.... I checked (I keep monitoring my credit score weekly thru credit karma) my credit and my score get lowered 26 points (I'm expecting to get more points) I was shocked and check why ,how come .. and see the changes... I was so like wtf I see the century link is in collection tab. WTF that collection lowered my points for 26points (expecting plus points) that was 3am (yesterday) so can't call centurylink , early morning 9-10am something (as soon as I get up) I called centurylink , and discussed my situation, and yes they received the router 3 weeks ago, and can't answer why that fucking collection is in my credit report, all she told me is all she can do is take that collection out after 30days... WTF is that ??? First I called and fix that to prevent go thru my credit score and then what happened to all those representatives that I spoke to and said it's ok nothing to worry WE WILL FIX IT???? and this happened I don't think this is right, what's the use of my call before (negotiations and stuff, what ever that called) (sorry I'm not really good in english (speaking/writing) but I 100% understand) This is Bullshit, speaking/calling/talking to multiple representatives do nothing ... I very rarely think a business deserves less than 3 stars, but I would give Centurylink ZERO stars if I could. I would never do business with Centurylink if I didn't have to, because of the horror stories I hear. Unfortunately, Centurylink monopolizes the entirety of my area. I was initially offered a measly 10 mbps for $60/month and told that was as fast as I could get the speed in my area, but left them hanging for a day and then was offered 30 mbps for $50/month. Suspicious. I went ahead and ordered, and then was told I had to wait an ENTIRE WEEK to get the service connected, because the router had to be shipped and someone had to come out and switch it on. During a time where most of us are working from home??? This is my first time with centurylink, but every other provider I have worked with, i could go to the store and pick up a router, and switch the service on same day. So that was frustrating! Then it gets worse! I wait the full week without internet, working out of coffee shops that have free wifi. 2 days after the router was supposed to be delivered, I still have nothing. So I call and find out that Centurylink forgot to put my apartment number on the shipping label! And according to the customer service rep, this has been a recurring issue with many other customers. (As a side note, the customer service rep I spoke to actually was very nice and professional, but does not make up for the poor service of the company as a whole). So now my expensive router is who knows where and I am now paying for subpar internet that I have absolutely no access to. :) Thanks Centurylink! UPDATE: I really didn't think that this nightmare could get any worse... but it did. The company refused to fix their mistake on the shipping label themselves, so I had to call UPS and fix it myself and have it delivered correctly. After finally receiving the modum (an entire week after I moved in), the instructions were very unclear and confusing. I had to get ahold of tech support, but unfortunately it looks like they don't do phone calls during after-business hours (even though they advertise 24/7 tech support), SO I had to resolve a tech issue over text message! Very frustrating. After 2 HOURS of tech support, the IT tech tells me that there is an issue with my modum and I need to schedule an appointment to have it looked at.... But the earliest they can get in is in ANOTHER 8 DAYS. Not only that, but I am meant to be billed for the 2 weeks of internet that I never received AND the in-person tech support service is an additional $95 charge, despite the IT person saying that the issue is with the modum, not with me! So in an effort to avoid the charge, I tried to fix the issue myself via youtube. Eventually, I was able to get it connected... and after all of that, the internet is UNUSABLE. I am currently getting 3.1 mbps out of the 30 that I am paying for. It is so bad that Instagram ads aren't even loading on my phone when that is the only device connected. Don't walk, RUN away from this dirty, dishonest company as fast as you can. Throw away any promotional garbage they give you, because even if they are the cheaper option in your area, it is not worth the hours (yes HOURS) spent on hold, the multiple transfers with more hold time and the complete and utter unwillingness of any of their employees to help and come to a fair decision with you. They are quick to take your money (which I gave, on auto pay, on-time every month), but if something goes wrong you WILL be up a creek without a paddle. In the short time I lived at my home, I have had at least three instances where I have been without internet for more than 10 days- with the most recent incident being THREE WEEKS. I do not live in a remote area- I live in the middle of Phoenix. Now, I understand that things break and stuff happens, but as a working professional who relies on an at-home internet connection to do my job, these types of repair delays are not acceptable (Honestly, it's not acceptable for ANY paying customer). When it began to affect my livelihood and that of my renters, I decided to call and cancel to join a more reliable service. I was quickly informed by the rep that I owed $200 for canceling in the 7th month of my 2 year service contract. Interesting, because the agreement I entered was to pay for service faithfully for two years and receive internet from Century Link for two years with minimal downtime needed to fix issues as they came up. As far as I'm aware, Century Link broke that contract by neglecting to provide me service for extended periods of time, MULTIPLE times; therefore, allowing me to exit that contract due to their negligence in upholding their part of our contract. According to their rep though "that's not in the rules" and "they don't waive those ever." Upon respectfully asking for a supervisor to plead my (sensible) case, I was also informed that "he's busy but he won't take your call because we don't do that." That's no way to treat a customer who has been loyal to you for years. I was also told they (miraculously) showed no evidence of outages on my account; later finding out that they had incorrectly recorded my account information with no less than two other accounts, even when verifying my address and last four numbers of my SSN with literally EVERY rep I talked to during EVERY interaction. Please, tell your family and friends to avoid this nonsense and stick to a more caring, fair and reliable service, because even if they offered to pay for my service for the rest of my life, I would still gladly pay another company to handle my business. read more

I was a CenturyLink Internet Customer for about 4 years. It was wonderful when we started service, but we watched as our service became slower and more unreliable until we finally were getting 0 mb/s during the evening hours. After many failed attempts spanning about a year (both phone calls and service calls) I tried to talk to someone in a higher position to get my issues resolved. In one day I was hung up on multiple times. When I reached out to the Customer Advocacy Department, it seemed this person was going to try to help me. I even sent many screenshots of the 0mb/s service we were getting, sometimes 2-3 times per night. I ended up disappointed, again, and I was told "...They are saying that the issue that you are having is due to network congestion...With the network congestion that they are advising you will have the issues that you are seeing with high volume times, slow speeds, etc. that's what you will see. At this time you are at the fastest speed that we can offer currently. The best thing to do is stay up to date on when faster speeds are available to you..." Which translates to: CenturyLink has service to too many customers in our area and their antiquated equipment cannot handle the draw of said customers. Furthermore (for some unfortunate reason) even though I pay for this service, I get to deal with our internet quitting completely. To make the matter worse, I am told that because CenturyLink got greedy and chose to not update their equipment, and also chose to take on more customers than they can support, this issue will not be fixed. So, we were given a 2 month credit on our account and we used that time to find new service since clearly CenturyLink couldn't deliver. When we found new service and attempted to cancel on April 15th, we were not only charged a disconnect fee on that month's bill (April), but the following month (May) we were charged $100 for a modem we had returned March 2nd. How convenient they "remembered" this fee after I disconnected service since there was no charge for this modem prior. This might be the most poorly ran company I have ever dealt with. I have never before been hung up on by those who are in place to help customers, I have never before been asked to pay for services not delivered, and I have certainly never before had to spend my time doing the job of a company I am paying for services. I want to start this out by saying I am not a person who complains at anything ever. I feel the need to write this and my experience to shy anyone away from even having a slight thought of using Century link. They quoted me $54 a month for internet and phone service my first bill was $183. I called them and spent 4 hours on the phone trying to figure this who think out. When they don't know what to do they transfer you to another person across the nation and most of the time it will be a different department that has nothing to do with what you want. After 4 hours on the phone and 11 transfers I spoke with a lady named Gina (she was nice) I told her I wanted to get rid of my phone since it never worked and I never once got phone service and I realized I wasn't going to use it. she gave me a credit worth about $80 made me happy and I though I would go on with life instead of spending another second on the phone. My new bill for just internet was supposed to be $42 with tax and everything. I received it and it was $130.56. My rage built up instantly no credits no anything. I called and got the go around spoke with some guy named Rudy who I told not to transfer me and get me a supervisor he said ok and transferred me to a guy named Steve in St Paul MN. Steve said I need to be more in a AZ century link are(steve was actually helpful). I then got transferred to Steven in Boise Id who transferred me to Dulce in AZ Dulce was great. Know one knows how to fix my problem. For anyone out there I wouldn't recommend their service to Hitler himself. If anyone out there reads this and thinks that oh it wouldn't happen to me I want to tell you IT WILL. Not getting service with them will be the best decision you make next to getting saved. They have the worst business model ever made its set to just give you the run around until you give up and just pay it. Which I made the mistake of doing the first time around. They really need to implement a zero star rating....they don't even deserve one star. After having centurylink for 2 years, only because of the contract, even though the service itself was dismal at best, and multiple calls to their customer service (being on hold most times over 30 minutes) not helping. We finally cancelled and went back to Cox. So centurylink/direct tv send a box to return the equipment, which we fill with all the tv components and modem, and mail it back. A moth later we get a ridiculous bill for over $300 for all the equipment. So we call them, wait on hold the customary 30+ minute wait, only to be transferred around like crazy, waiting 10 minutes each time. The rep states they didn't receive anything. We give them the tracking number that shows that they did in fact have it, and the name of the person who signed for it. Oh now they see that they have it, so sorry. Rep states our bill is zero and were good. End of story? Not a chance. 10 months later we get a bill for over $100 dollars from a collection agency! WTF? we call centurylink...again, and wait on hold...again. Rep says they didn't receive the modem. Well, we put it in the box with the rest of the equipment, you stated you have it all, and were good now....10 months ago. They said that was probably for the direct tv stuff only...well, when I set up service with centurylink, I only dealt with them, why would I think I have to send everything separate?? You send me a box, I fill it, I return it. Why wouldn't your company have a plan for people that send the modem in the only box sent, to directtv? And why the hell would you wait 10 months with zero communication and then all of a sudden send it off to collection, with zero communication with us? Long story short, they can kiss my butt on the $100 they think we owe them, ill take the point or two deduction on my credit score. Can I go lower than one star? I ordered my service for my new construction home at the start of October, to have the internet installed as of November 1. October 29th, I received an automated call stating that the service was delayed, so I check with the online customer service support who tells me that they still show me as getting installed on November 1. Well, the install appointment rolls around and there is no technician, so I call customer service. They tell me that they don't have parts needed for install. Okay, I can accept that answer.... except I was told that they wouldn't be able to reschedule my install service until December 13th.... needless to say, I used some colorful adult language as both my wife and I are remote workers and we have a 5 and 7 year old who MUST HAVE their daily fix of Miraculous: The Adventures of Ladybug and Cat Noir..... So I'm transferred to a tech support person who states he can't help because of my account status. So he attempts to transfer me to customer service... the same customer service that transferred me to him. I was on hold for 45 minutes. I hung up and started speaking to their competitor in my area (Maricopa, Az), who was very polite and got me set up for install in a few days. Long story short, CenturyLink did not act like they cared at all about my problem or that they made a commitment that they had plenty of time to prepare for. I mean, I hated using AT&T internet back at my old home due to horrible customer service, but I think CenturyLink just won the "who is the worst" contest because at least AT&T showed up when they promised. I will say that their Twitter support service was responsive, and issued my refund quickly. If you are in Maricopa, I recommend going if Orbitel as their customer service was great, recommend ways to save money on my bill, and gave me a guaranteed install date. read more

I chose Quantum Fiber / Century Link internet service based on their promise of faster speeds at a fraction of the cost of Cox, Tucson's leading internet provider. Unfortunately, my experience was deeply disappointing. The internet speeds were significantly slower than advertised and fell short of what I was getting with Cox. Being in close proximity to the modem, the Quantum download speed was 170, the upload speed was 261. I was paying for one gigabit. These slow speeds with Quantum remained the same, 4-days after the installation. With Cox the speed was closer to 600. Attempts to resolve the issue were met with lackluster support and no follow-through. Although I was assured technical assistance would reach out, I was informed that I would need to re-enroll and pay another $40 for support because I had canceled the service. My initial $40 payment was meant to cover a full month, yet the internet connection stopped working well before that time was up. It was perplexing to have paid for a service that failed to meet expectations and then be asked to pay again for support, despite not having fully used the initial month. No refund was provided. In summary, Quantum Fiber fell profoundly short of their promises in both service quality and customer support. Proceed with caution and only if you do not need fast internet. read more

This is from Minnesota. Won't let me change the location. I ordered Centurylink service last Tuesday. Scheduled the install for the next Monday. Took the whole day off of work to wait for the install tech. Said they would be there between 9:00 and 5:00. By noon no one had showed so I called to find out where the tech was. On hold for 45 minutes the operator answered and got disconnected right away. Called back on hold for another 30 minutes. Operator told me the tech wasn't going to be at my house that day but could not tell me why. Lost a whole days pay for a no show. Chatted with an agent online the next day. Waited 30 minutes for the chat to start. Was finally told on the chat that service was not available in my area. Was able to look at there website again and it showed that it was available. They did not seem to care that they made a mistake. They said they were going to refund the money that I already paid so that is something. But no compensation for the money I lost having to take the day off when all it would have taken from them was a call. Was trying to chat with the operator about it and they closed the window on me while I was in the middle of a sentence. read more

If there was a 0 Star I would give them that. I tried getting internet installed at our Lake Place and took a vacation day on Monday for it. No one showed. When I called they said there was a conflict and apparently they don't call to try and fix the conflict, they wait for you to call and see where they are. We got it sorted out and they said they would make me a high priority and get someone out the next day to which I told them I was not happy as I had to take ANOTHER day off work. I waited and waited and finally at 1:00 (my window was 8:00-5:00) I called to see where they were. The first person claimed the installer arrived but the driveway was blocked to which I said BS. My car is the only one here and it is not blocking the way. No call from the installer while they were blocked out. After speaking with the supervisor, they said nothing about the installer being blocked but said the installer came to the door and no one answered. The door has been open and I'm sitting in the room that looks out the door. NO ONE HAS WALKED UP TO THAT DOOR! And still, no call from the installer saying they were here but no one answered the door. Worst company ever! read more

OK at home; terrible at the office. We purchased CenturyLink Internet service at home and the installation and service were excellent. I decided to use them for my business and that was a mistake--twice. It took three attempts to get the service initially installed in October 2017. The installer had never done a business set-up before. When I got the first bill, it was 30% higher than I was quoted. I was so angry, I filed a complaint with the FCC. Foolishly, I decided to upgrade to their fiber service in October 2019 hoping it would save some money. Bad mistake. It took four months to get the service installed and the process was far too complicated. Unless your business has a dedicated IT person with network experience, you will be lost. While our CL business rep was responsive, he had to deal with several departments to accomplish anything. And again, the monthly cost is much higher than quoted. They have now agreed to settle a class-action lawsuit over "unfair and deceptive billing practices." I don't know if there's a better provider in the Phoenix area but I'll cancel my CenturyLink business service when the term is up. read more

I pay monthly for an internet service from century link that is advertised as to be at 20mbps. On a good day, I will get maybe 5mbps. I have called a dozen times to have a technicion come and look at my equipment to help me find a way to get better performance at my house. I use only the century provided equipment that I pay for monthly along with the cost of the service itself. Not ONE time have they ever sent a tech out to help, they seem to think its something that can be fixed by restarting the modem. I have tried all of the things that they have asked me to do and nothing has worked (a couple of things even broke my network). Currently while writing this review I have a peak bandwidth speed of 10 MEGABITS per second. It took me 5 minutes just to load this one web page. I have had it with the way century link is okay with taking my money on a monthly bases and never providing the service they advertised. At this point I am DONE with century link, they can cram it. I was a faithful customer for over 2 years i started paying ahead of time towards my bill for several months making me have a positive balance on my bill when I decided to go with a different company because not only did centurylink lie to me about upgrading my internet speed but I paid in advance towards my bill and when I ended my services at first I was lied to and the rep told me they could not refund my money for 45 days I was never told a reason why but in the end I was like whatever because I was getting very upset and it wasn't worth it. well it's over the 45 day mark and I still do not have my refund now I'm being told it's going to be 90 days. This company is a ripoff and I'd stay away from it. I'd go with a different company because not only do they have only speeds of 20mbps which they lied to me about as well stating I would have an internet upgrade I never received that only excuses and lies for internet but they are not honest about the price for life, or the refund information. I do not understand how this company is still in business. So, I ordered Century link and this turned into a disaster. First I was asked for a $100.00 deposit when I have a 710 credit score. I thought no big deal. Paid the deposit. Waited 8 days for the equipment and tech. Equiptement shows up, no tech for a day or so. I call Centurylink and they said they would have to CHARGE me to send a tech out. I asked what happed to the first guy and they said "we never scheduled him" FIVE HOURS on the phone trying to cancel this service. They said they can NOT refund my deposit until the equipment is returned, and they BILLED me for the TEN DAYS WITH NO INTERNET. This company is a JOKE. Customer service is HORRIBLE. Do not use them for anything. I mean the customer service is CLUELESS and WORTHLESS. How in the heck do you forget that you scheduled an install? And then want me to wait while being billed six more days for someone to come hook this up, you wanted me to pay for someone to hook this up, because this company forgot to send someone to wire my house. I've been a customer for several years & now the site will no longer accept my online payments (though I was given reference #s that told me my payments had been accepted). Although when it 1st happened last month, a tech confirmed it was a site issue & to try again (which I did), the same thing happened. No payments were taken out of my bank account like they always had been. Instead, I was told by 2 people at CL that I'd entered my acct # wrong, even though I had not. So, even though they were not with me as I entered the same info I've entered into their system every month for the past 7 years, I'm now being told that it was my fault & they will not correct my account. After talking to 8 people (& leaving a voice mail [still unreturned after 5+ hours] for a supervisor) for a total of 2.5 hours, the issue has still not been resolved & CL continues to blame me for their website issues. If you have any other option for an Internet provider, take it. Century Link's customer service leaves a lot to be desired & the company does not take responsibility for their own faults. read more

Signed up for internet service while shopping at a Walmart. I know...that was my fault - but the salesperson assured me Century Link had fiber optic to my home. NOT TRUE. Service was well below my other provider, so after 5 days we cancelled service within the 14 day cancellation period. My bill came and it was $111 - for $99 Installation and usage of $12. I challenged tis bill based on the lack of service promised at contract - and was told A resolution team would be contacting me. They never did. Had this conversation 3 times with customer service. 6 months later - I get a collections notice. I spent a total of 5 hours calling different phone numbers trying to get someone to help. 3 times I was disconnected - twice I was told my 13 digit account number could not be handled by the person on the phone - they only handled 9 digits....transfer, disconnect, repeat.... They did not live up to any commitment made. Service level, followup, resolution..etc.. NEVER AGAIN read more
