The experience has been incredibly AWFUL! A technician came to install my internet, and I still did not have internet service after he left and had to call them back at least three times. The wiring was laid across the alley floor and was driven over by multiple vehicles, including a CenturyLink technician's truck and a garbage truck, within three hours of being laid. (can't imagine how much beating that spaghetti sized wire can take in hot AZ summer) Furthermore, I was initially told by century link after still not have internet that the technician gave me the wrong router, and another one was shipped to me. However, the technical department later confirmed that the original router was indeed the correct one. All of this confusion occurred within a single day. To add to my frustration, I was charged for this unsatisfactory installation. Every time I call to discuss this issue, I was forced to explain the entire situation repeatedly. I truly believe that any positive reviews are bots. They then sent me a bill for the installation charge for WHAT! I'm still having to argue with them on the daily to get that removed. Another company was installing fiber optic in our neighborhood and accidently cut CenturyLink's line while digging. The crew doing the work recommended we reach out to CenturyLink to get the line repaired sooner(they were told 4+ days after calling 811). I'm not sure how big of an outage this caused, but there are a handful in our neighborhood that were also affected. We reached out via their online chat and also called. In both we were told that "no outage had been reported" and that they can send out a tech to look at the issue the next day. No one in my household could take a day off with such short notice. I asked if they could give a narrower window for when a tech could come out. But they only window they give is 9am-5pm. I asked that if we made sure they had safe access to where the line was cut, if we had to be home. They said if someone isn't home, regardless if the area is accessible, there will be a $99 charge added to our bill. So we asked if they could send a tech out on the weekend because we are not taking off work for them to fix their own problem. The soonest weekend availability they have would be a week and a half out. Which means going almost half of their service period without their service being functional and still having to pay the full price. Of the four different customer service representatives we spoke to, only one initially talked about the $99 charge if we weren't home. The other three tried scheduling a tech for next day service and didn't say anything about the $99 charge until we asked for clarification. Then, they would go on long winded explanations about how it was a waste of the techs time if we weren't home. Which is hilarious considering I'm expected to take an entire day off work to sit around home for a tech that may or may not show up. We choose to get a different internet provider after spending a collective 5 hours on this customer service nightmare. Our neighbors still don't have internet. CenturyLink will still need to access our property to repair their cut line. We still won't be home, but now there is no bill for them to charge $99 to and no way for them to coordinate property access with us. read more

CenturyLink came out to repair a pulse on our router line. Our router worked fine before the technician started the repair. When the repair was completed all of our internal phone lines went dead. I made 4 calls to CenturyLink to fix what the technician damaged. Customer service said we would have to pay $99.00 to have them repair what the technician damaged. I told them we will never use their repair services again. Beware CenturyLink is not the excellent company they used to be. Now they fix a problem but cause another. We have now been stood up twice by Century Link to correct static on the line and poor wifi signal. When I try to call them about service I get put on endless hold. I will be changing providers next week. I did get through once to an actual person after the first time the repair person didn't show - he was extremely rude and not helpful at all. I have had CenturyLink since it was QWest, so a long time. Overall the internet was stable, until now. Sure, there were a couple times over the years I needed a new modem or the line needed repair. To be expected. But this week was pure hell! Internet went out on Sunday, first available service tech was Thursday. Really? 4-5 days without service? So I ordered a new modem thinking if that was it I could get up and running faster. Nope, not the modem this time. So what happens? Service tech never showed. I called that evening and they said it was automatically rescheduled for the next day. So Friday comes, no confirmation text message. No appointment was rescheduled. I've never dealt with a company, so totally heartless and rigid as CenturyLink. I have had them for my Internet service for nearly 8 years now and have paid every monthly bill on time. Apparently my monthly bill amount changed in August by five cents and I wasn't aware of it. I was charged $18 late fee because my payment was five cents short. This continued for September October, November and December. This totaled $.25 short yet I was charged $18 every month as a late fee. $50 for being $.25 short. Unbelievable. I spoke to customer service and they would not bend one single bit. I am retired and living on a fixed income an as I explained that to the customer service agent he said he was sorry and he understood but rules were rules. He wouldn't even transfer me to a supervisor because he said the supervisor follows the same rules he does. Needless to say, I'm canceling CenturyLink today and going with Cox. read more

Been with them for almost 15 years, never had a late fee. They claim they updated their billing system which took everyone off auto pay. Never sent out communication on doing this and having to re-enroll in auto pay. Four months later I get an email stating our bill is almost $1100 and it needs to be paid. Spent two days truing to get this resolved and put on a payment plan since it was their fault and they straight refused to help. They stated a lot of their customers are going through the same thing we are. We set up a payment for $300 to be taken out. We got an email shortly after stating the entire amount will be taken out. We did not approve that payment. Then they took out the full amount AND the $300 payment. EVERY employee was unprofessional and refused to help with anything. I was hung up on at least twice, one by a "supervisor" who clearly was working from home because her music and tv were so loud I had to ask her to turn it down so I could hear what she was saying. After 11 years dropping Century Link. they have a intuitive voicemail system that is set up to keep you in a loop to make it hard as possible to actually get to a live person. When you are able to speak with a representative, there is not a sense of urgency with regards to your issues or concerns. The customer service department continues to deteriorate year after year. It is apparent at this time that CenturyLink has all the customers they need and therefore can provide minimum customer service and tech-support as needed. The bandwidth deteriorated to a level where streaming and PCs did not work. After several weeks, trying to resolve the issue, we canceled the service and returned the equipment as requested. My landline has been out of service for at least one month. I have made four service appointments, and not one of them was kept. The customer service reps were very kind, but my issue has not been resolved. I'm so sick and tired of hearing what a loyal and valued customer I am, but it doesn't reflect in the service I receive when I have an issue. I am on my 2nd Centurylink modem in four years. Warrantee is 1 year of course. So they are quite unreliable at $200 a pop or $15 per month rent. So I ordered a third modem from Centurylink and was promised overnight delivery, lol. I ordered it on Thursday. On Friday I spent hours on the phone trying to find out where the Modem was. It seems like that is normal business, they reschedule tomorrow, the next day even 4-7PM and no show technician. That is how Century Link treats paying customer especially long time customers. Call Century Link they don't care they will just reschedule again and again and over and over again, no technician will show up to fix your internet and you can stay home all day 8Am -5PM. I'd give 0 stars if I could. I scheduled my install almost a week in advance for the only day I'd be available due to my work schedule. I never received a txt or phone call to confirm or for updates. At 3:30pm (1.5 hours left of the install window) I called them and they said no tech is assigned. For some reason they couldn't make it and wouldn't be installing that day. I told them I work at 1pm every day and I can't call out of work to reschedule it and I do online school and I can't do school without it. They rescheduled it but told me to call first thing in the morning to make sure they come out before I go to work at 1pm even though it's now supposed to be a priority install, I have to call and make sure they do their job right again. They refunded my first month payment but if my apartment offered any other internet providers I would've canceled my service. read more

I've never in life experienced a more diabolically aggravating customer "non-service" experience in my lifetime. All I wanted was WiFi for the security camera. Siiiiiimple. Right? What was supposed to be a simple call to establish service in a single family property that my company owns started out with a bad omen. Nearly 16 minutes on hold to establish NEW service before a live person even answered! What kind of company forces a potential customer to wait that long to give them new business? It only went down hill from there. I'm currently on hold, approaching an hour and a half total with Century Link representatives trying to undo the mess they created today. So after finally getting through to a rep, I was as clear as the limits of my language skills allowed me to be in stating I was not interested in taking a credit hit to establish service. Credit is extraordinarily valuable in my line of work and dips in credit can literally translate into the loss of thousands of dollars overnight. So I was careful to ask the rep if there would be a hard credit inquiry if I established credit in my name because initially I wanted to do so in the business name. He resisted and steered me to doing what was "easier." I asked a second time and then rephrased a third time. I was assured there's only a soft credit pull internally to determine whether or not I had a delinquent account with Century Link. Sounds legit. WRONG. I should have known better. While still on the phone with this guy I get a notice from my monitoring service that I'd just suffered a 20 point hit for freaking utilities. I would have GLADLY paid the deposit to avoid this. For utilities? But the rep either lied to me or didn't know what he was talking about. Then the fun really started. Turns out he's remote. And his supervisor gets on the phone and admits they're a vendor and can't do anything. I'm looking to get a letter indicating the inquiry was run in error to recover from the hit. Placed on hold again. That call lasts 48 minutes before I am told to call someone else. The second call with the someone else lasted 34 minutes. The last 15 of which I was placed on hold before they disconnected me from their end. The third call lasted 24 minutes. What's the math here? A wasted hour and 46 minutes and all I ended up with were problems that didn't exist for me prior to inviting CenturyLink into my life. Terrible. I couldn't be more disgusted. The last guy tried to reach his supervisor 3 times. Said he couldn't. I asked is he the only one there. Try someone else. Seems like a simple alternative. No go. So when I ask can we at least take care of the cancellation part, the guy tells me I have to call back tomorrow because that department is closed. My mother lives near Rural and Southern in Tempe, AZ. The landline infrastructure is SO OLD. Her landline gets really, really staticky every single time it rains. Every. Single. Time. It also usually goes out all together. Getting a service appointment is ridiculous. It is all automated, and the appointment is always set for "between 9am-6pm. Who can stay home ALL DAY to wait on a service rep, especially when the problem is with THEIR infrastructure off Alameda or Apache? I just can't waste my time that way. I tried and tried to reach a human being to try to expedite things since my 93 year old mother depends on her landline service for her emergency services. She fell today, and had no phone service so no access to help. It was awful. We are switching landline services ASAP. read more

Worst customer service experience with a cable provider yet. Everything was OK until I moved and brought Centurylink to my new location. It took a week to get the service transferred ad activated due to clerical errors with my new address. Then I got billed $108 for an unreturned modem which I actually took with me to the new address. When I called I was told I would get the credit for the modem when I returned it when I stopped using Centurylink and had proof of receipt of the returned modem to Centurylink. I followed the return instructions and sent it back via the UPS Store. Surprisingly, the UPS Store clerk advised me to keep the tracking number and contact Centurylink when the tracking showed the modem was received by Centurylink because they had customers that had a bad experience with returned items to Centurylink. Customer service is so far off of knowledge in their line, or they just like messing with people's lives. They have a bad problem with lying, and speaking English you can understand. The service is sketchy alot of the time and you have to reset your modem several times a month, and the times that doesn't work you have to call in the have them "clear it". Great if you want to waste a bunch of time and constantly worry about connections for security etc... I really recommend anything else. These people are nice when selling this mediocre service. I received several emails on the day that they were supposedly installing telling me it was done. That was on a Saturday. Two days later the equipment shows up via UPS. The thing that is sad about this, is the service might actually work. We have a DSL line for "broadband" internet, and it does work; the problem is it is slow. Streaming services have to buffer, wifi does not adequately cover an 800ft house, Zoom connection often drops. We have been trying to upgrade but the client service for this company is the worst. Calling puts you in hold hell for long periods of time, if you are dropped you have to go through the process all over again. We keep getting different stories about who we have to talk to. One minute they can run a new line to upgrade us to 10mbs, the next they can't. Also, the billing system is screwed up. They keep billing us for an internal wiring service we do not what, and they will not stop. Each month we have to call to get them to remove the $17+ from the bill; go through hold hell, call dropped, start all over. EVERY MONTH! Unfortunately, there is only 1 option for "broadband" in that area of Warren County, VA, so they have us over a barrel. It wouldn't take much to fix these problems, but it all starts with Client Service, and like most companies that is where corporations are saving money by having inferior client service using recorded phone systems, multiple menus, unqualified representatives who just work through preselected questions. read more

After years worth of reliable service at a good value, the last 12 weeks have been a disaster with CenturyLink. It has gone down for 30 hours at a time. When you chat with their pathetic chat support, you get runaround answers. You get mumbo-jumbo, lies, different answers all the time.
