This workshop is small but full of bright colors and farm house vibe with lots of fun projects to do. We were greeted warmly by the friendly staff and this workshop started promptly with detailed instructions to explore 20 different scents and discussion of their categories. Both Zoe and Elizabeth were super helpful in guiding us to choose adjacent or complimentary scents for our candles, and the hardest part was choosing only 2 scents to make your candle! You reserved this experience online but you can also upgrade to a different containers (a tea cup or pumpkin - so cute!) and add extra candles onsite. The candle will need at least an hour to 2 hours to set so we were free to walk around Orenco station and got to snack and catch up while our candles were drying. My friend was able to pick her up that night but mine was not set yet so I had to come back during the weekend. They have so many cool projects to choose from and a good selection of beverages for purchase. I will definitely be back with other friends to try out other projects in the future. She gave us a wood pallet and we selected a stencil. From there we chose colors and she gave us a step by step lesson on creating a DIY Wood Sign. It was so fun and the 2 hours flew by. I learned a lot of my co-workers and some are pretty artsy. I would highly recommend doing this for any team bonding event. You can only reach the director via email. I even reach out to the police serval time but the Chehalem center refused to have the individual trespassed so their hands are tie, all they can do is ask them to leave. They also run multiple business out of this building including a preschool. They do not prioritize the safety of the children or other business by allowing Homeless people to sleep where ever they like and go in and use the same restroom in the building.

The staff said this was no problem, and said we could start as they came in. My daughter and her first guest got started, but while a staff sat and gave step by step to the friend, my daughter was given starter instructions and I had to prompt not once or twice but many times for the next steps. The third guest arrived shortly after and a second staff sat with her, again giving step by step instructions while my daughter, the birthday girl, was left hanging. This was quite frustrating, but my kid took it in stride. A third guest arrived when our time was almost up, so while I understand she couldn't complete a whole picture, we were told that she could free paint but they were out of full size paper (which of course, we had paid for! ) . The package was also supposed to include nail art (or glass coloring), which they did not do. We were supposed to have had a reserved party area for 2 hours, but another party was scheduled to overlap ours which was incredibly awkward, so we rushed through cupcakes and snacks, etc. The "deluxe" party favor included 3 dumdum lollipops, a hard candy, a cheap plastic ring and a tiny plastic wand. They did accomodate face paintings for the late guests, which was nice. However, I was disappointed in their uneven distribution of attention, and running out of the supplies we had paid for. My family ended up using our Groupon on Saturday, Aug 24th at the hopcity tavern and market. Pros: -So many options! Groupon doesn't expire for a while, and there are tons of painting events in the Portland area, especially on weekends. Painting events are commonly in downtown Portland, up north by Vancouver at the Red Lion Hotel, in Hillsboro, and there seems to be a few in Happy Valley and Gresham. Yaymaker seems to be good about catering to people from all around town. -You know what to expect beforehand. They show photos of what you're going to be painting, so you can book the class with the painting that appeals to you. -Our painting expert was knowledgeable, fun, and extremely friendly. She provided a very positive, easy going atmosphere. She played music in between instructions and gave us plenty of time to catch up. She was happy to take photos for us. -The class length is generous: about 2 hours. Everyone at my class seemed to be able to finish. A couple cons: -No complimentary wine. The advertising is misleading. They give a note that "This event requires all attendees must be of legal drinking age". My family and came in expecting to enjoy a glass of wine too, and we thought that we had paid for it (even with the Groupon discount, this class was expensive). I would've booked a class under a different business if I had known there wouldn't be any wine. -Groupon isn't actually cheaper. They have $10 coupons all the time on their website. I wanted to have a bigger group but assumed the best price is when buying for 4 people. I wish I had known, then I possibly would've considered adding more people to my party. Overall, it was a positive experience. I'm just glad I know what to expect now!

I purchased a Groupon for a PaintNite class. I registered for the class (and had to pay a $10…read moreuncharge for the class that the Groupon didn't cover). We showed up for the class and waited 30 minutes after the start time and the teacher never showed up. This was the Portland, Oregon class at the Broadway Grill location. When I emailed PaintNight for a refund, they never apologized and even told me that fees are normally not refundable but they "made an exception" and refunded only my upcharge amount. They also said I had to go through Groupon to get a refund for my voucher (which is another nightmare, but doesn't reflect on PaintNite). I cannot recommend anyone ever register for the Portland, OR class. You might not actually get a class.
