Certa Pro Mountainside painted my exterior this summer. Cape Cod with full dormers in South Plainfield . Scott ( very nice guy ) was my estimator and Marvin painted. Another guy helped, no supervisor was ever present. They started in mid August. I will post my final review when they finish second coat and toucMixed emotions at this point. It will be Oct in 2 days You, know I just realized I forgot to update my review from Sept. Certa Pro Mountainside finished my paint job in October. My first experience with CertaPro Painters of Mountainside was meeting with Scott Hain, sales associate. Scott was very thorough in explaining the company he represents and exuded confidence in us getting a top quality paint job for the exterior of our home. After spending as much time as I needed and giving us a written estimate on the spot I especially appreciated his "no pressure" style. He just said please call if you're interested. We needed some carpentry work prior to painting and Scott recommended someone who we were very satisfied with. Warren Perillo the Production Associate worked on scheduling our job and kept in close contact with us throughout the process. Once the crew arrived Omar and Will explained exactly what work was going to be done each day, and their attention to detail...making sure areas were covered, and our property was spotless after working each day...was very well done. Thoroughly disappointing experience, with the exception of the initial sales pitch. They showed up promptly and delivered an immediate and professionally-compiled electronic estimate. Came back a few days later to collect a deposit and that was the end of any interest in the job. They largely went AWOL after that, with little contact beyond email and no follow-through on any commitments. Worse of all, this is a subcontracting operation masquerading as a business and the work was done by a crew I'd never seen before or interacted with in the past. Do yourself a favor and pick any random firm out of the phone book because you're likely to be playing that sort of Russian roulette anyway with this outfit. read more

Please never call these people. NEVER. They are the most unprofessional and liars I've ever seen. At the beginning comes a lady Alyce with a printer and well presentable and sells a service that is not even close to what it really is. In short, it took them more than a month to finish the exterior of my house, they told me that they would remove the downspouts (by contract) not only that they didn't but they stained them , they should scrape some parts which they never did painting them anyway as they were ( I spent half a weekend doing that job myself) the 2 coats they promise are a lie, the people they bring have no idea what they do. I had Certa Pro twice now. They have painted both the interior and exterior of my home. Out of all the contractors I interviewed I felt Certa pro really wanted my business and were willing to extend the extra effort to make my sure I had exactly what I wanted done completed to my satisfaction. I paid for exactly what I was quoted for, they came when they said they would AND we're meticulous in cleaning up after themselves (very much appreciated as I am a neat freak). This was the first time I've ever hired painters, however the guys at CertaPro were among the best contractors I've worked with at my house or apartment. They showed up on time, did a quality job, and were flexible when my wife or I changed things up in process. We had four painters walk through our new house to give us bids for painting nearly the entire interior of the house. Their estimator Jason spent a lot of time communicating with my wife and I all the various options, what was included in their quote, and how we could modify it to suit our changing needs. The prices we received were all over the map - CertaPro came in second, however the low bidder was $3k lower than everyone else, so we ruled him out since we figured he was cutting corners somewhere. The high bidder was $10k, which seemed absurd. CertaPro and another came in around $6k which seemed appropriate for the amount of people (between 7 and 4 depending on the day) and the scope of work (patching, sanding, 2 coats, etc). In any case, the pricing was competitive but the service and quality looked top-notch. I'd highly recommend them. read more

Certa Pro Painters of Mountainside painted the exterior of our home this week.I got 3 estimates for work and they had the best price. Because they painted our home many years ago we felt comfortable using them again. They did a great job last time and did not disappoint us this time either. We had a lot of rotten woodwork that needed to be replaced, they did a wonderful job fixing all of the woodwork and they did a great job painting. They painted the entire house, trim , shutters, doors, they even power washed the walkway and deck. The men on the job were hard working , courteous and respectful of our home. Rogerio was in charge of the job, payed attention to all details and made sure everything was completed to perfection. They completed the job early as well. Don't trust these guys! Both the owner Kevin and salesman Scott flat out lied to me. The Paint crew as well went out of their way to deceive to me. When I signed the contract to paint my entire house (9k job) the contract stated Benjamin Moore paint with the colors to be determined. At the meeting we signed the contract Scott said to my wife and I, in his words "of course we use ALL Benjamin Moore Products" After that meeting I sent over all the colors in a spreadsheet. Scott had to send the contract back to me 3 different times because of errors on his part with paint colors. At NO time did we talk about switching to Sherwin Williams paint. On the last contract sent, he slipped in a paint brand switch and of course we didn't notice the switch to Sherwin WillIams paint. We never looked as we never had any conversations about any brand switches. They used Sherwin Williams paint but had the store mix Benjamin Moore colors. At the time we were not living in our house and did not notice this until the the painters were 85% complete. One reason we didn't notice is the paint crew, painted over the logos on cans. When it was brought to their attention they blamed us and said the paint chart I sent was too confusing. The way Kevin wanted to "take of us" was by staining my stair railing for free. Which I was willing to pay for. I told Kevin to not bother with the railing as I had lost all confidence in his products and specially his crews ability to do a competent job. If you plan to use these guys watch out for the bait and switch. One might ask what's the big deal Benjamin Moore vs Sherwin Williams, well quality matters and Sherwin Williams is inferior product to Benjamin Moore. Not up for debate! I also found out that certa pro and Kevin get a huge discounts on Sherwin Williams paint. So he improved his bottom line while lying and giving me a poor product. You would think they would have been embarrassed when they got caught but they held to their smug lies. Opps but the contract says.... read more

Great job! Leo was wonderful. Walked us through everything that he did. Very neat. Finished two rooms, stairwell and two hallways including closets in one day! We did two coats in the living room and dining room but one coat everywhere else. One tip: we were told that if we painted the same exact color, we could get away with one coat. One coat did not cover the scuff marks that were on the moldings, etc so I wish we would have gone with the two coats. read more

Worst company ever! Work was contracted out to a crew that needed to use some of my tools for the crown work. Cracks appeared in cieling within a week. Took an additional 2 days over from 2 day estimate. When i refused payment till fixed, owner was at my house inspecting the work. He put the check thru again anyway and hasnt contacted me since. Had to file a claim with the bank to get my money back. Stay far away- and use a company that actually does their own work! read more

certapro was professional and fast. from the first phone call to the end of the job they were very courteous....they painted six rooms in my house and did some repair work. The supervisor on the job kept me informed all along the project. they respected my house.. they were not the cheapest but I never book the cheapest person I speak to...they were worth the few extra dollars. call them! read more

we were extremely happy with Certapro Painters. In all aspects of their work they were professional and more than met our high expectations. We had the exterior painted and they pointed out some rotten wood which they replaced after pointing it out to us. Also our house is quite old and has a number of double hung window which they removed the interior ones to paint the window sills, and then replaced the interior glass. One window we had not been able to fully close for a umber of years yet they did it beautifully. The paint job is the best we have ever had and have already received a number of compliments on it. Plus the workers are polite and easy to work with. I would highly reccomend them, and already have. read more

Most professional run company I ever known! I hired a lot of companies in my lifetime and this one I have to say is soup to nuts. Marcone is the foreman and his crew were wonderful. I have a disabled adult that they were very understanding about. I Clearly in their way many times they never even complained. They also put up with my dog which is a little meanie. They ask questions at any time that they thought was necessary. Very refreshing to know they care. Well worth every penny and also you get a two year guarantee .
