We were very careful in talking with their representative to set up a painting job with multiple components to it, confirming both orally and in text messages what was to be done. We scheduled a date for an early morning arrival Eight hours of total time on the job at a set price. When that day arrived and the time for the crew arrived we got a message telling us the crew would not be there until midday. The crew showed up near 3 PM. Then the crew denied that the service order included the elements that had been agreed upon. The sales rep who quoted the job could not be found by anyone. The supervisor for the deal told us the job could not be done as agreed and that they would only do a portion of the job, but would require the full price. I could say more, and it's not good, but you get the idea. These guys were totally unreliable and the interactions came off as unprofessional and shady. And they really didn't seem to care. I got one of their nuisance doortags placed on my door by their employee despite having a no solicitation sign clearly displayed. That doesn't stop them from leaving trash on your property. The tag reads, "We're painting in your neighborhood!" So what? I painted my house about 2 years ago. Does it need repainting already? Why should I care you are in my neighborhood? Do you hire felons and sex offenders? Is that the reason why I got my door tagged? My neighbor next door to me is out of the country for 3 weeks. Then I realized, these doortags are to mark your house so their buddies can come back a week later and burglarize your home. I took my tag off and the one for my neighbor and threw it in the trash. I called the company at 714-485-2883 and they were so dumbfounded and didn't understand what NO SOLICITATION means. It's like they have a right to put stuff on your door. CertaPro of OC has recently painted our building in Redondo Beach. Firstly, their price were the most competitive and they went through our building thoroughly to know what we needed. The job was not rushed. The prep work took days cleaning and pressure washed the whole building. Communicating every detail along the way to ensure our operations were not interrupted. We have a 75K sq foot building and they took their time to make sure the job was done right and to our satisfaction. We are so happy with the result. Our building looks very beautiful. Everyone writes about services shortly after project performance but who writes about the same company more than. 2 years later. And, how many write about outstanding ongoing services. For some strange reason the paint on a cabinet door began to peel. Don't know why because all others are in excellent shape. I discovered that the project was beyond warranty, the company had been taken over by the Orange County franchise and I didn't even have a receipt. I contacted other companies to see if they would paint one door. The answer was always "no"except for one company in Upland that would charge me about $250. At that point I decided to contact the new Orange County franchise and I got a hold of Victor. He said don't worry that the project was past its warranty,the Orange County franchise would take care of everything. Don't worry that I didn't have a receipt because he remembered the job I asked him where I could bring the door and pick it up. He said don't worry about that he'd pick it up and reinstall it. That's exactly what he did in about two weeks! Not only that he was very precise about his arrival times. Everyone needs someone like Victor on their team. 5 stars! read more

I scheduled someone from CertaPro to give me a quote on painting I needed to have done. The quote was set 2:00 Thursday afternoon. The They confirmed the time for the onsite quote and I reconfirmed that time and day the same morning. I waited until 2:00, they did not show up. I got a call then asking me to do the quote over the phone. A realistic assessment could not be done over the phone. Dissertation: So, personally I would never use this company again. I truly hate giving low stars, but based on my experience I'm forced to. My dad needed his office painted and I thought this would be a painless experience to help him, but I was wrong. First, positive vibes, they returned my yelp project request right away and came out to view the area that needed to be painted quickly. Bad baby vibes, they were a tad more than other quotes, however I understand that sometimes you need to pay a little more for better quality (NOT ALWAYS TRUE). Bad vibes, they never sent a contract even though they said they would and then showed up a day later than what was scheduled. Then, they sent an invoice without even asking me how everything looked. When I responded that I did not like the faux paint, I just received crickets. I sent multiple emails and calls over a 2+ week span and all they just kept sending invoice after invoice, with no personal contact. I finally went online to their chat box and told them the issue I was having and that the faux painting did not match the picture I had submitted and agreed to. What I got looked like military fatigues; what I asked for, was a marble look. Anyway, long story short, a manager FINALLY contacted me and wanted fix the issue, however by this time my dad had moved into his office and his warehouse production was in full swing. Had they gotten back to me right away (when his office was still vacant) I could have had this issue fixed without disturbing the occupant, but by this time, he didn't want them coming back and being inconvenienced. I guess spending a tad more did not pay off with this one! After much thought, I am saddened to write my first and only one star review. However, I need to write this because I would never recommend this company to anyone and caution anyone who chooses them to paint your home. They have poor and untrustworthy communication, predatory practices, and gaslighted us on their subpar quality of work. Here's a summary of the red flags we experienced: -The Residential Sales Associate asked us for 1/3 MORE money on top of our quote after the first day of full prep. There were no carpentry needs or extra work other than what was already listed in the contract. We declined and wanted to stop the project but then they said they would complete it for the initial price. - Incomplete prep work before painting (ie. Dirty eaves that were not power washed, unsanded wood, chipped paint, unprimed bare wood - all of which was listed in their standard preparation before painting) - The Residential Sales Associate told us the home was ready to paint without having walked the site himself and after I sent multiple photos, even with an abandoned WASP NEST still on the stucco. - My husband sent an email to the office with photos of the unfinished prep work when the crew and residential sales associate said our home was "ready to paint," and no one replied to him. - They claimed that the unfinished prep was because they "prep as they paint." That makes no sense. No one is sanding wood and patching holes with one hand and then simultaneously painting with the other. You prep, then you paint. - They threatened us with fees if we "stopped the project again" after 1 inquiry regarding a matter within the contract. Are homeowners not allowed to inquire about any discrepancies as they happen? - They changed materials and scope of work without informing us, and when we brought it up they refused to fix it. Your fault - you fix it. - They asked for "most of the remaining money" before the final walk through - We had to contact the Production Manager because the initial crew didn't clean up paint chips and random supplies all over our property for what they said was a "completed job" and the Residential Sales Associate just stopped replying to us. - They cut corners in their work throughout the whole process and made it such an unnecessary uphill battle to fix any mistakes when we addressed them. We all make mistakes - we're all human. And at the same time, no one at this company apologized or owned up to any of their mistakes. They were just really quick to give excuses. I wish I could say it was just this crew and this is an isolating incident, but unfortunately there's only two residential sales associates at this location. Even though you might get a different crew, you have a 50/50 chance of working with the person we had that oversees the crews. I wonder how often he gets away with taking advantage of other people's time and money. We shouldn't be fighting for things LISTED in the contract that was created by this company to protect both parties. Save yourself two weeks worth of headache and go with someone else. read more

CertaPro Painters painted my single story (did in one day) ranch house in 2019 and did a great job. I supplied the paint for that, and this job. It still looked very good in November 2024. I only had 2 coats of paint put on at that time and did the entire wood around the house. After 5 years of So Cal weather there were some areas in the front of the west facing house where the wood was showing in 1mm splitting of the paint. Not bad and you had to examine closely to see these very small imperfections. Back in the late 1990's early 2000's, I (myself and a friend) roller painted the stucco on the sides and back of the house that probably hadn't been painted in 30 years. I put on at least 5 -6 coats of paint because I wanted a very durable coating that would last. It still looks as if it were painted "yesterday". With that in mind, I decided to repaint the front of the house's wood again. This was a 3-day project. Day 1 was power wash. Day 2 was scraping and the front of the house was primmed with about 1 1/2 gallons of "the best primer" from the paint manufacturer I selected. Day 3 was spray painting and then roller painting additional coats on the vertical surfaces. About 4+ gallons of the 5 gallons in the bucket were used. IT LOOKS GREAT and I am sure it will look great for a VERY long time. The house looks brand new!!! Now on to the "no watering" landscaping. I have tried, and now have given up on native plants or flowers needing water. I want plants that need little or no extra watering. A desert motif with rock and allowing winter rains to soak deep into the soil for the trees and drought tolerant plants. read more

These guys are in a rush to do the job and move on. I have called and left messages several times and still no response. This company doesn't care about customer service. They sell a good pitch, but when the job is done issues of concern are not addressed. I'm aware that my warranty has expired, but I believe that they should send someone out and correct their mistakes and make it right. Very disappointed. The team was courteous, listened and assisted me in every way during the process. Selling a home can be very stressful, scheduling repairs and finding a reputable painter that will meet the strict Home Owners Association (HOA) rules and standards. Dan Miller of CertaPro Painters came to our home to inspect what was needed and to listen to our concerns that everything be done in a timely manner. The next day, Dan sent us a detailed quote that listed everything we talked about and even included photos he took during his inspection. Dan provided us with target dates for the job to be scheduled and assured us that if we had any questions or problems with our availability, he would do evrything in his power to meet our needs. Our home was painted in four days ... Jorge and Tamaul were the two professionals assigned to us. What!? only 2 men to paint our home, when our neighbor hired another painter who had 6 men painting their home in the same amount of time. AWESOME TEAMWORK ... Jorge and Tamaul arrived on time each day, once they began to work they were in complete sync with each other, and cleaned up at the end of each day. When strong Santa Ana winds hit Orange County Jorge and Tamaul worked around varies tasks until they could climb those high ladders safely. Jorge and Tamaul exemplify what professionals are known for, punctuality, attention to detail and pride in workmanship. My wife and I feel blessed to have selected CertaPro Painters after meeting Dan and having such a hard working pair of professionals like Jorge and Tamaul. On the completion of the exteror of our home, we had neighbors commenting how nice our home looked and asking how it was possible that two men did all that work with such quality results. The exterior painting was a color change and performed on a very tall home with chimneys including a color change and the use of a 32' scissor lift ensured the operation remained safe. I believe a company is only as good as its follow-up if there are issues. They sent a crew, that to me, wasn't up to what I would call standard for painting window surrounds. It was super streaky paint in the inset and they didn't sand it down properly so it had dirt and debris in the paint itself as well once done. I was shocked to see this and immediately complained to the company about it. They took a few hours to get back to me but the manager/owner of the company called after seeing the email thread and took care of it. I had a crew out the next day that did a fantastic job cleaning up the previous work and making it look great. This was an issue of expectations and instructions to detail as the manager informed me this is a normal procedure but we specifically said we wanted the finish to match our new renovation and walls. Apparently, it had not been explained to the first crew. All in all, if the second crew was what I was rating this job on I would give it 5 stars and would have been super satisfied. It only took them a few hours to clean up and they were very polite and easy to work with. BEWARE - CertaPro has changed! We have used CertaPro painters multiple times, recently the interior of a rental (2017) and then exterior (2023). The service and workmanship was very good and professional, and they even came back to touch up a couple spots with issues. Now in October 2024, I contacted them to discuss painting our primary residence. I received the proposal which was complete and reasonably priced. However, when we read Attachment A: Terms and Conditions in the contract we swallowed hard. The following details were a show stopper: 3. Site Condition. Contractor shall undertake reasonable care in its performance of project work. However, Contractor shall not be responsible for damage(s) arising from Contractor's work or the delivery of project materials including, but not limited to, damages to existing walkways, sidewalks, curbs, gutters, driveways, cesspools, septic tanks, sewer, gas, water, electric, or other utility lines, arches, shutters, shrubs, lawns, trees, clotheslines, decks, or other improvements. Contractor shall remove all construction debris and leave the project in a broom clean condition. And then: 9. Indemnity. Owner agrees to defend, indemnify and hold harmless Contractor from all claims, liabilities, contentions, allegations, demands, damages, losses, actions, causes of action, arbitrations, attorneys' fees and costs arising out of, in any way connected with, or resulting from, the project unless arising from the sole negligence, or arising out of, pertaining to or relating to the active negligence or willful misconduct of Contractor, or for defects in design furnished by Contractor. CertaPro is NOT RESPONSIBLE for damages they cause?? No way this is a reasonable contract! Why on earth would the property owner indemnify CertaPro?? Homeowners should read the CertaPro contract very carefully. They refused to fix these terms so, unfortunately we told them we would not be hiring them for any work again. read more

I wish I didn't have to write this review seeing we paid close to $8,000 for CertaPro to paint about 3/4 of the interior of our newly purchased house. We selected them after some other quotes and really felt good after talking to the salesman Dan Miller. Boy, I was wrong on this company! Get the sale and move on, they clearly don't care about the quality of their work as you can see from some of the pictures I provided. Believe me, I have many more. It was sad I had to go through the house and check over their work after paying close to $8,000. After finding so much wrong we contacted the company to have them come back to take care of the issues. We finally scheduled a time for a guy to come back to do the work, I took off from work one morning to be here at the house for him and he didn't show up!!! Yep, at this point my wife and I were fuming, wouldn't you be? They finally came over the following week and did some of the touch up, but clearly not all of it, not even close! Dan Miller pawned off communicating directly with me to someone else, which really made us upset to say the least. He never came over to check on the workers during the week or when they finished to check on their work, his own employees work! It's crazy to me that you feel ok with letting your employees get away with such poor work! It's a "professional" painting company, says it in the name!!! Plus I had to tell one of the painters he could not be blaring his rap music with x-rated lyrics when my 7 year old daughter is home! Really, I had to tell him that!!! Over my 47 years of my life I have prepped and painted exterior wood garages, interior house walls, baseboards, ceilings and garage walls and I would never leave my work looking like that whether I was getting paid or not! He was very clear what work they could complete and what work a general contractor would need to do. I received a detailed quote and all my dealings with the office were very good.
