Ridiculous company to try and get out to service a three-year-old unit they installed. Had a triple-head mini split installed, 2 of the 3 indoor head units have a leak in the coils. Called and was told it would be about a week before they could even come out to diagnose the problem. I called another company who diagnosed the problem the next day. I told Certified Air the issue and it would be 30 days before one of the coils would arrive and 2-3 months to build the other coil. I talked with the warranty manager who sent me the warranty registration info and told me any licensed HVAC company can do warranty repair on our unit. I talked with Marco (service manager) and inquired if we could get the manufacturer to cover the indoor head units replaced instead of waiting for the coils, Marco said that was doubtful but would confirm the timing of everything and get back to me later in the day. It was two days later before I heard from Marco telling me the living room coil was a week out and they had the bedroom coil in stock. They told me they could come out to confirm the leak and schedule the coil install maybe next week. However they had the coil that was 2-3 months out in stock in their warehouse. During this time the other company called and said the coil with the bigger leak had arrived after 3 days and they were on their way to install it. After hanging up with the other company, I tried non-stop to call Certified Air to tell them the info and NOBODY answered the phone. The Certified Air tech arrived and had a conversation with the other company who just arrived as well in the parking lot and the tech left without contacting me "not knowing what to do" per service manager Marco. After finally talking to Marco, he advised they would not assist me any further since I'm using the other company. I told Marco the other company was only replacing the one coil and I wanted them to replace the coil they had in stock. HE REFUSED! He did tell me the other option would be to have the other company replace the indoor head unit, which was in stock on the island, but would not be covered under warranty if I wanted to go that route. He said it would have to be cleared with the owner of Certified Air to even be allowed to service the system they installed since I had another company do the repairs (under warranty) that they could not get to for weeks. To be clear, we tried in February of this year to try and get Certified Air to even come out to service and clean THEIR install but was told they could not get to us for weeks out due to manpower shortages. I was told from several other companies that Certified Air had laid off many employees which is due to their delayed schedule! read more

Had water leaking from air handle, service tech came out and said coils were freezing and low on refrigerant, she said she put in a pound of refrigerant in and that I might have a leak in the closed refrigerant system and that because it was a old ac system that it may have to be replaced. A couple of hours later I received a 17K quote for a new system from her supervisor. 4 hours later it started leaking again, I called them back and they said that it would have to be replaced. I went for a second opinion, we found the drain line was clogged, cleared it and now it's been working fine for a couple of weeks now. Not recommended to use this company as all they wanted was for me to buy a new system. Also there was no freezing up of the coils. read more

I am a regular visitor each year to a hotel in Maui in the Napili Bay area. This year, I checked into my hotel room and tried turning on the mini-split system for air conditioning when I got to my warm hotel room. It was not working correctly or cooling at all, just blowing warm air. I let the front desk know the issue, and they told me Certified Air Conditioning Maui would be by that day to look at the system. A technician came out within an hour or so, great response time, and checked the system. He found a refrigerant leak in the outdoor unit quickly. He was very knowledgeable, professional, and I knew he knew what he was doing as I have been in the HVAC industry for 25 years as an installer, service technician, salesman, and system designer in Southern California. He repaired the leak quickly and let me know the system was working again. It was finally cooling and I was back to being comfortable in my hotel room. He did a great job, and I was very impressed with him and this company! Then, the next morning the system was down again and not cooling or working at all. I tried looking into what the issue was myself a little, but was unable as the thermostat was showing 'No Signal' and not functioning. I figured maybe the leak repair had not worked and the system was flat of refrigerant again and shut itself off for protection. I let the front desk know my system was down again and not working. They said they would try and get Certified Air Conditioning Maui out again as soon as possible, but it might be a day or so wait. I told them I understood, and went back to my warm room and about my day. Not more than hour later, a different technician from Certified named Marco arrived at my room and proceeded to look into the issue. He was also very knowledgeable, personable, and professional. He explained the issue was the thermostat not communicating and proceeded to replace it quickly with a new thermostat. He explained the exact issue, and why he believed it was occurring. I agreed with him. After installing the new thermostat quickly, the system was back up and working perfectly cooling. All had been fixed by 2 different technicians on 2 consecutive days, very quickly. Let me tell you, in my area in California, even with the company I have worked for the past 23 years, this is not common and is great for the local Maui customers who use this company! Marco and I then had a great conversation about the system, Maui, the weather, and working in HVAC in Maui compared to California before he left. I would love to move from California and live in Maui full time and work in HVAC like some of these great employees have done! They are living in a great area, and working hard to keep everyone cool and satisfied quickly! I have never left a review of another HVAC company, but after getting service from Certified Air Conditioning Maui, Marco, and the other technician (I apologize that I forgot his name), I would not hesitate to recommend this company for all of your Maui HVAC needs. Horrible company. I've been trying to get split system installed. Called multiple times (main line + Bradley the project manager). No response. Emailed multiple times the main email + Bradley - no response. Calling the main line - they didn't help much than leave a message. I shouldn't have to try this hard to get ahold of someone and give someone money. Especially if I had issues / needed repair, and they treated me this way. No thank you. TLDR: They came out the same day, were affordable and did exactly what I asked of them. As a Maui Realtor I know the importance of having reliable companies that I can refer to. Before referring a service I like to try them out myself so I know how they will treat my clients. Well today I called Certified Air Conditioning and was greeted by a friendly voice that was there to calm me and assure me that Certified Air Conditioning will clean my air handler the proper way by taking it apart and cleaning the blower wheel and other parts outside my home. I have had another company come out and service my AC and all they do is spray chemicals in my house (acid wash) and say they cleaned my AC and want big money for that. If I wanted chemicals sprayed in my home I am sure I can do that myself for a lot less not too mention that method of cleaning did not actually clean the mold out. When I called and asked for the blower wheel to be removed and cleaned the person on the other end knew exactly what I was talking about and said she could get that completed during the 1st opening she had which would be in 3 days. A few minutes later I heard from Katherine that she has a technician in Kihei and that he could actually be at my home in 15 minutes. OMG was I excited. Chris the technician was at my home in no time and immediately checked out my air handler and explained exactly what he was going to do and went right to work. The job was completed quickly and correctly the first time. I am so happy that Certified Air Conditioning came out the same day, were affordable and did exactly what I asked of them. read more

My pool heater heat pump stopped working with a LOW REFRIG alarm showing. I called several different service companies and only two answered or returned my calls. The first one said they did not have anyone that couldn't come out and advised me to call them again in a couple of weeks if I didn't find anyone to come by. Fortunately Certified A/C answered my call and scheduled a service call a few days later. Nick, a senior service tech came out on time and quickly diagnosed the problem as a failed relay which he had a spare one on his truck. It was back online in less than 1/2 hour. We had half a dozen air conditioning companies give us a quote for a new system. Certified Air Conditioning was up to $2,000 less! The crew showed up on time both days. They were kind, courteous, hard working and very professional. We have white carpet and tarp was laid down for their walkway. So far this is the best HVAC company I've ever used. They were prompt when I requested a quote and actually gave me a quote within a week. Other companies took weeks to get back with their quote and some never replied. (they weren't the cheapest or the most expensive) Then when I approved their quote, the equipment was ordered right away and I was on their schedule for the following week. Then imagine what happened next... yep - they actually showed up when they said they would, 3 trucks loaded with all the equipment; 2 compressors and 2 new air handlers and tons of ductwork. We did a quick walk through and they went right to work ripping out all the 30 year old equipment. 6 or 8 guys up in the attic and really going at it for 2 or 3 days. Then every following day for almost 2 weeks, they showed up by 8:00am everyday. They just got right to work and kept working until everything was done. I couldn't be happier with the quality of their work, all the guys work ethics and how accommodating they were with every request we've made. (we rerouted and extended done duct runs and they just did it without any hesitation or complaining) Tomorrow they will be wrapping up the second unit... and everything looks GREAT!!! read more

This place is terrible find somebody else to do your AC they acted like they knew what they were doing after installing a unit for $9200 I explain to them it wasn't working properly they told me to find somebody else to prove it wasn't working properly. so I did that come to find out they had cut a massive hole in the air ducks and it was blowing hot air into my business costing me an estimate of $300 more a month to cool on my electric bill. it's one thing to make a mistake it's another thing to shut people down make them pay some buddy else to come out and fix your mistakes don't make a mistake by using these people. read more

Reached out to get an AC installed that they had quoted me on and took emails and calls to get a short 5 word response that said we are too busy. Avoid this place at all costs. They have terrible customer service. Getting in contact with these guys has been a challenge but they seem like a fair company that cares about the customer. Upon finally talking with Joe about my issues he is working with me on the resolution. I'll update the post with full resolution in the next couple months but I am hoping they can do a new install for me at a reasonable price. read more

We moved into our new house and found that Air Conditioners in really bad shape due to neglect and lack of maintenance. Things got worse when we had them inspected for quotes by a couple of companies and we found out that half of our ACs were installed wrong and were leaking water in the walls. Can you say mold? Yeah it was bad and we needed it fixed fast, properly, and without costing a million dollars. Certified Air just installed a split-duct system at one of my rental units over the past two days. The appointment was booked a couple months in advance because they are so busy. Hint: there's a reason they are busy; they are in demand. They showed up on time, did the job quickly efficiently, and professionally. It's the end of July in Kihei, and the crew barely mentioned the heat (I was sure complaining). It was tough working conditions and still they finished a full day and 3/4 ahead of schedule! Yeah, that's right, earlier than promised and on budget!! That's unheard of on Maui. The billing was timely and accurate. I have nothing but good things to say about the whole experience.
