I had interviewed a few others that I felt were not necessarily going to do things by the book. So I called & had the owner, Jim Sr, come out and give me an estimate. He was very thorough and even pointed out some things I should have repaired that I didn't know about (crazy "do-it-yerself" wiring one of the prior owners had done). We agreed on a price and his technician got to work quickly. Whenever we encountered issues finding a way to get plugs or switches to a certain location, the technician was friendly and willing to share his cell # so my husband could ask questions and he was very helpful in coming up with a great solution (we now have remote control dimming recessed lights!) They did great work, they were timely, friendly and respectable. I have only good things to say about them, and if we should need more electric work, I will definitely call them again.

First let me be clear that their technician Jim was a very nice person and the work that we asked…read morethem to do (adding a 220 plug to our barn) was done well so far as I can tell. The problem is that Jim is very social and spent a lot of time talking as well as doing work we had not asked to have done. I asked ONLY for the 220 plug to be added and requested a quote and was told that they didn't like to give them but ballpark if all goes well $180 ... that it would take about 1 hour at $80/hour + $100 for parts something like that. However because of chatting and socializing and taking on tasks he was not asked to do the tech was here for 2.5 hours. He took it upon himself to relabel our entire electrical panel and charged me the hourly rate for it... it took him 1 hour so $80 added to my bill. When he Brought the ticket for me to sign it was for more than double what they had quoted me. Partly this was because we needed to add some kind of double breaker switch which I agreed too and was willing to pay for but on the day of the service the tech told me that $80 was for the 1 hour he had spent re-labeling my fuse box. At that time I said well I'm not signing this because I don't have an extra $80 laying around and I did not want the fuse box relabeled and if you had asked if I wanted that and let me know what the cost would be I would absolutely have declined because anyone can relabel a fuse box themselves they don't need to pay a professional to do it. He said he understood and left with the unsigned bill. I was waiting for a call from the owner to discuss in further detail but it never came I did however begin receiving collections calls from his secretary. Finally I spoke with Bryan the owner I assume who insulted me, threatened me, swore at me and continued to insist that it was my word against his that the tech had only spent 20 mins on the box and that the rest of the $407 invoice was for I don't even know what. Long story short I called and received a $180 ballpark quote but then was charged $407 accused of lying, threatened with small claims court if I didn't pay in full and sworn at. When I let Bryan know that I would be leaving this detailed review he said he would dispute it.

Work performed: run two new circuits to garage. Had two small issues: 1. Technician initially charged 5 hours of labor even though he arrived at 11 and left at 3:30 including 30 minute lunch and 1 hour Home Depot trip for parts. Quick discussion and it was resolved. 2. Technician did not vacuum wood shavings from the area where he drilled to run wire. All other areas were cleaned up. It was likely he was late for another appointment and simply forgot to go back after loading his tools. Discussed with Dave Frey and he made it right. Overall, I was happy with their service, and even though we had a couple hiccups, those were resolved promptly and courteously. I would hire them again.

We didn't want to spend $5,000+ on a whole house generator. When I called they actually listened to me and didn't pressure me into getting a whole house generator. Instead, I had them install an interlock kit with a portable generator for my 960 sf. house. We've had to use it twice now since the ice storm and the portable generator with interlock kit has powered virtually our whole house! No issues! My fridge works, all bedroom lights work, 2 bathroom lights work, sump pump works all because of the interlock kit. We are very happy we did this and can't them Ashcott Electrical enough for installing it.
