If you want tons of things broken (withouth them telling you about it), call them. I was given an estimate of $2400, at which time the owner came to my house and walked through it, along with going into my shed. They were supposed to show up at 7 AM and didn't show up until 9:05 AM. It took them about 8 hours to load their truck. The owners helpers left much to be desired. One man was so elderly, I thought one could knock him over with a feather! This is the man that broke one of my Christmas dishes (expensive to this set) and never mentioned it. Someone I know that was there saw him drop it as is smashed into pieces in my driveway. The other helper was pretty stuck on himself. While he and the elderly man were wrapping up my hutch (which showed up at the new home with a HOLE in the back wall of it!), the elderly man thought the young guy was using way too much tape. He asked the young one if they weren't supposed to be saving the customer money, of which the young one said, "No, it's not MY job to save anyone money." I heard him as I was sitting in the next room. That night I had to stay at a hotel for the night and was out to dinner with my family when I received a phone call by the owner telling me that the price was now $3,651. Of course I had saved enough (with a little extra) for the move as the estimate stated. I asked what happens if someone can't come up with the rest and I was told that someone usually borrows the money or uses a credit card. He never mentioned a credit card the whole time I was doing business with him, until this phone call. I told him I'd get back to him. Needless to say, my dinner evening was ruined at that point. I had to beg borrow and steal to get enough for him. He also stated that he wanted some in cash and the rest in a certified bank check. Well, since I was moving out of state, I refused to carry any cash with me and ended up getting the bank check for the full amount. I don't think he was happy. When they got to the destination, he asked for the money before he unloaded the truck. At this point, 3 men were just bringing things and and dropping them wherever they felt like they wanted to. I am still missing many things and I've found so many broken items. When they were bringing my furniture in, they had it on a dolly vertically. My mother's hopechest came in on a dolly basically upside down. I almost had a heart attack over that one. I've not looked in there yet. I have a jewelry armoire that was jammed shut with drawers open inside and jewelry falling out. The elderly man took so long to put a bed together and when I gave him the risers for the bed, he left them on the dresser and just threw the mattress on the box spring with the foam on top of the mattress. I am not planning on moving again in the future, but I will tell you that I will not call them again. The owner asked if he could use me for a reference. I told him to 'feel free'. I will be happy to tell my story. They are not worth your time or aggrivation. LIke I said, I may not have all boxes/totes emptied out, but I'm missing too many things that do not fit into a box. read more

Furniture was piled on top of my motorcycle and I'm missing too many items. I was given one price and sold my truck for that amount and then at the end it was twice the price I sold my truck for! They had another household of furniture in the truck with mine. I'm wondering if they have some of my things like my WALKER, which once belonged to my Dad. I found that there was a busted stereo speaker taken off the truck which was not busted when it went onto the truck. Nobody mentioned anything broken to me. I just happen to be finding things while I'm still unpacking, as well as not finding things that are missing, like everything for my desk. I had several boxes for my desk, but only have 3. Had I not put my prize posessions in my vehicle, I would have most likely lost those things as well. Now I understand why they want payment before they unload the truck. Once they have their money and unload their truck, they're gone and there's nothing you can do about it. Would I give them a recommendation ------ only to my worst enemy.so they could feel what it's like to have their stuff missing and/or broken. Hello, I used Certified Moving and Storage, Rick Dufton being the Owner. I moved from North Hampton NH to Rocky Mount NC. I had gotten other quotes from the bigger companies, but, I used Rick instead because not only was he referred to me by my client's son, who said they were friends since they were kids, this person also told me Rick would be able to give me a great price. So I asked him to come over give me an estimate on everything I had to have moved, and my client's son was right!! A little over $800 less than what I was quoted from other companies. I, probably like many other people, love the idea of a less expensive move, but would it be worth it? Would this company be able to deliver all my things and especially my things that were of sentimental value, and not be broken, (like so many other horror stories you see on the news) Not only was it less expensive than the competitors, he also got there two days before he previously told me, so that was excellent!!! We used this company for our move from New London, NH to Beaufort, SC in May of this year. They came to our home on the date agreed upon. They were very pleasant and helpful as there were a few things that I didn't know how pack, The worked very effectively to pack the truck in an astonishingly short time. They arrived at our destination a day earlier than scheduled. Unfortunately, it poured rain that day! Rick and James kept going even though they were soaked. They only took a break when it was raining soooooo hard that our belongings would have been damaged. We had gotten many estimates that were simply unrealistic. The price was very reasonable and their service very professional. We don't intend to move again anytime soon, but If we did I would call them first. Hello. I used Rick's company to move from New Hampshire to Florida in 2015. It was absolutely one of the best customer experiences I have ever had. Rick's estimate was very accurate and actually (and intentionally, he explained) a little high so that we would not be disappointed. And, the actual cost was a bit less than predicted. That was a nice surprise. His rates were better than anyone else and the very best part was the he loaded up on the day he promised and delivered on the day he promised. No other mover would even suggest that they could schedule like that - they all said they could estimate within a week or so. Not good enough.
