I thought they were amazing, affordable pricing , but now they are permanently close, what a bummer

They did a great job on my riding mower, even making an adjustment to the choke at pick up so I could start the thing. I could only occasionally get it started anyway, and when I could, it didn't move, it had multiple issues. They fixed 5 items on it. You do not want to buy a new riding mower now. I bought mine 14 years ago. 2 years ago, the same model it cost $1000 more than it did 12 years prior. So even though it was pricey, I was prepared for it. read more

Went in to get my lawnmower blade sharpened. If your grass looks like it's torn instead of clean cut do your poor lawn a favor and get your blades sharpened!!!!!!!!! It makes a world of difference in the appearance of your yard and makes it easier on your mower. $5 a blade and easy parking and super nice people. read more

DO NOT RECOMMEND As a military veteran, I wanted to support another military vet's business. After having my lawnmower for 6 weeks, this business still has not returned my mower. I have been patient and understanding, but I have received horrible customer service. I have requested to speak to the owner and was refused. Never again. I dont even know if my mower is fixed! A huge Thanks to Certified Small Engine Repair. They helped us out a lot with our generator. When it wasn't working for us, they repaired it at a very low cost. They took the time to reach out and investigate the warranty. Then, when it was time to sell it, they helped us find a buyer. One day I was just passing by and saw their business along the road and I called to ask if they can repair my Briggs and Stratton generator and they said they specialize in this brand, so I figured why not! I've been coming here off and on for several years. I used them regularly when I lived nearby. I moved to Boerne and tried a few small engine repair places, one of those was so horrible that I wouldn't give them 1 star. Anyway, after frustration locally, with my weed eater, I took the longer drive back to Certified Small Engine. They fixed it! Yes, it ran Ok at first but then the problem popped up again. Took it back and they have it running now as good as new. At the Boerne locations, I gave both shops more than 3 tries each to fix it and still unresolved while $$$ flew out of my wallet. I bring ALL of my small engines to Certified once again. And yes, once in awhile they need more than one try to get it fixed - but they do get it fixed! No small engine repair place is perfect, but these guys are definitely consistently a cut above the rest. read more

Recently contacted them regarding my 3 yo lawn mower not working. I really didn't want to have to buy a new lawnmower and was scared to have to spend $200-$400 on a repair as quoted by others. I was worried being a woman I would be taken advantage like most places do but I never felt that from the moment I spoke to the owner. They were able to take it the next day and I picked it up the day after. The staff was amazing and very helpful. Certified small engines is a terrible business! I would not recommend this place to anyone. They've had my Scag mower for 5 months. The woman that answers the phone lies repeatedly her excuse today was I need to submit paperwork and I don't know when I can submit it I'm just too busy. I have a tiller I bought back in 98 that had the tank severely rusted. The guys told me they could replace the tank for about $80. I asked about replacing the engIne and they said they could put a new one in a week. Went from 3.25 to 5 hp. Tiller ready for action in a week as promised! Great service! read more

Friendly place, excellent job explaining what is wrong with your equipment. Okay job explaining how to fix it, and very little on what is to be done to avoid future problems or repairs. It seems that a spring was left out on the reinstall of the back flap, as it now requires a tether to keep grass from flying in my face. If I had any more time to spend I would bring it to their attention, but feel that my review and a bungee cord will be easier. I may take equipment there again, but with a little less confidence than before. read more

I recently went over and took my pressure washer to see if they can repair it. I've had the carburetor recently cleaned and tuned with another certified technician. So I know my engine was in great shape except the water pump had went out, and that's why I went to this small repair shop. However, when I got there they said they were able to order a small bolt for the pump because it had blew out and damaged the treads on the bolt. Fast forward a week later I get a call that my machine was ready to be picked up. When I arrived I told them I was there to pick up my machine and they all were confused and acted stupid! Somehow my name was under another mower and not my machine. Well, they finally figured out what happened and then told me that they were going to order the part when they told me that the week before. When I brought that to there attention then they were able to find a bolt off of a junk machine they had in the shop. Then they told me it needed a new pump. Ok. I went ahead and told them let's repair it. Another week later I get a call to pick up my machine. I paid $205 for parts and labor. What I expected was for this machine to be running and operating without any repairs done by myself. However, again! My machine was missing my nozzle tips, my butterfly screws, I had fuel leaking from the motor into my carpet of my suv. I'm not able to use my pressure washer whatsoever! I'm so upset that I really trusted this company on repairing my machine. *WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY AT ALL!!!* read more

I'm happy with this shop. Yes, they are an old style business. The owner is gruff and doesn't engage in pleasantries. If you want magical customer service, go to Disneyworld. Here, you will get your item repaired in it's turn behind all the other items being repaired. If you need special treatment, find another place. When it is done, you will have a good repair at a really fair cost. I just had a full tune up of my mower, blade sharpened, starter rope replaced, at the cost of $63 and it took them 4 days. If you treat the guys at the shop with respect, they will do the same for you. As for me, I'll continue to happily bring my business here. read more

I can understand gruff owners and old fashioned business, but I have taken two different tools with small engines to this business and was refused service on both. One was a string trimmer that retails for about $200.00 and the other was a leaf blower that was almost as much. In both cases, the owner stated they were "throw-aways" and suggested I buy his brand. How much do you have to pay for something before this guy will work on it??? Maybe it's just me, but I think it is ridiculous to pay more to tune up a piece of lawn equipment than it costs to tune up my Toyota truck. I took my Echo 250 leaf blower to this group on May 21, 2020 because it was not starting. I called once and they said another two weeks but essentially heard nothing for over 2 months. On August 1, I called and was told that a mechanic who worked from home had the blower and had not done anything. They followed up and told me that it needed a carburetor but the mechanic only came in on Tuesdays so what did I want to do. The cost was high enough that I could buy a Milwaukee electric for just a little more dollars. Really don't like to recommend groups like this. I know they are busy but they could have at least called and they could have fixed my blower in this span of almost 2.5 months. read more

Owner is a jerk. I have come to him, a few times to get parts, and he scts like he is better than anyone else in the world. I recently have a problem with my mower, and brought in the carburaetor to see why i am not getting fuel, and he completely ignored my issue. Now i have to find a carb online, because he doesnt want to help. I am an automotive tech, and know how to work on most engines, but when i told him that, he just turned his nose up and walked away. read more

I agree with Steven. the Crusty old guy needs to stay in the shop & allow someone with better skills up front. he repaired a basic murray mower. I asked him to call me if the repair is over $100. Two weeks went by; no call. I showed up. He said; repair cost is 112. I said, I told you to call me. He said he was busy. I left. I bought a new mower for $30. more. a friend of mine needed a mower. I told him to go buy mine for $112. He went to this shop & MI e was sold lass than 60 days there. I do not recommend this shop. Promised they could replace my carburetor, paid extra for a Polaris carb (more than if I ordered direct from Polaris) and they said have it back next Thursday... five weeks later, after knowing they were riding it all around (debris in tires and several witnesses to prove it - dropped it off clean). They never changed the carb. Had it running with the original carb, riding it all around, bragged about how good it sounded but wanted to tune it before we picked it up. Hours before we were finally going to get it back, they called and told us they ran it with straight gas (still in tank) and burned out my vehicle's cylinder. Tried to say they would charge ME to fix their damage of blowing my motor!!! Told me to take it to Polaris and pay for their damage to my property. Taking them to court ASAP. Do not trust these people. Double talking, lying, said they were qualified then blew my motor up after riding my vehicle all around! Then said it was above their skill set to fix what they blew up. Gave me back a blown vehicle that had fine motor when dropped off. Still did not have the new carb on it that I paid for. Avoid this place. read more

He wasn't a kiss ass customer service type, but still good. Not every one is capable of selling their soul to the customer is always right theory.
