Contacted CTC for an estimate about removing a large oak limb from a neighbor's tree that overhangs my wife's greenhouse and some general maintenance on our trees. Craig was thorough and professional and said it would be 3-4 weeks before a crew could show up since they have a daily rolling schedule which prioritizes any previous jobs not finished, and that I would likely get a call the day before my job was scheduled. At the 4-week point, I called Craig to see if my job was on the near term schedule. He contacted the office, and that afternoon, I was called by Harlee and informed a crew would be out the next day. Chris and Garon arrived on time, confirmed with me exactly which trees and how we wanted them trimmed up. Both of them were very courteous and professional, and did a great job of trimming and cleaning up the yard afterward. Couldn't have been more impressed by those two guys and their work ethic. I'm not very happy with this company. They did come out and give me a quote and we're backed up so gave me a discount because I had to wait a month for them to come out and trim the tree. Get a call on Friday that they will be out that evening. They did come out but worked for maybe only 30 minutes and I could not be there to look over their shoulder. I wish I could have micromanaged the crew. They did work and rushed out fast as they could. I am having to call another tree company to come finish the job that they never completed. read more

Certified Tree Care has helped us for several years with our many very large Oak and Elm Trees. Their crew, Kim (service mgr), Damon, Nick, and Charles were courteous and respectful. They did what we asked them to do. We do enjoy watching them work, so we are outside with them watching, and discussing what we expect the entire time they are here on site. It is important to be present to insure they understand what we want. They do work very fast and efficiently. We offer water and encouragement as they work. They are conscientious to paint cuts, and clean up the debris. We trust this company, so we will not be looking for another as long as they continue to provide what we request. I contacted Certified Tree Care at the end of May 2021 to come take look at my trees. The Certified Arborist they sent out was polite and did a quick walk of the property. He then let me know what it would cost and that if I could wait 4 weeks that I would get a 300 dollar discount, which amounted to a free tree trimming of one of the trees, I have 3. I paid the 50% deposit to put me on the list. From here it gets a little bumpy. There is very little communication from CTC LLC. I call and get very little feed back from the office staff. At one point I try calling and get no rings and straight to voicemail. I try to have my bank reverse the charge and then finally get a call back from the office. That conversation doesn't go well and I request a call back from a manager. I get a call back from the General Manager, Ty, and we talk things out and agree to move forward with the service. He gives me times he's going to let me know when they're going to be in my area and asks if a day will work better. I let him know Mon-Wed would be better and he gives me Wed at 9am. They showed up that day on time and quickly got to work. They were quick and really cleaned up the trees. They had not been pruned professionally in a long time and had a few branches that were dead limbs. They cleaned them all up and removed all the debris and sealed the wounds. They answered the questions I had and about root sprouts and that was that. From a service stand point I am pleased with them I just think they need to communicate better and set more reasonable expectations. Taking a 50% deposit and then radio silence for 4+ weeks makes people wonder if you took their money and ran. To be clear, I don't have a problem waiting for the service, I have a problem with lack of communication and meeting expectations. If you say "about" 4 weeks then a reasonable expectation would be 3-5 weeks, but once we passed the 4th week it would have been nice to receive some communication. If they would have said 4-8 weeks then that sets an expectation and I wouldn't have had an issue. read more

I read some of the other reviews and find it a little amusing that the reviews vary so much. I agree with Chris H. communication is grossly lacking. At least he was able to talk to the General Manager! I too had some time where I was worried that I had lost my deposit. Plus I called back with some concerns after the work was done, was told a general manager would get back with me....... nothing! Crickets! I recently purchase a property that had a lot of damage from our freeze this year. One in particular was an Arizona Ash that it the main shade provider for my home. When I called, I ask for an arborist to come. I had many questions about the life expectancy of this particular tree. It was coming back but mostly from very low. I discovered at the end of the consultation he was NOT an arborist. The consultant came out, told me what type of tree it was and that they would take care not to trim any of the new growth in order to avoiding stressing the tree more. Seemed very logical to me however this is not what happened. My Arizona Ash has been butchered! They did leave all the new growth coming up from the bottom but I am not sure how and if this tree will recover. Communication: I had to call back to get put on the schedule. When they called to tell me when they would start, I was given the wrong day. This was not a major deal as I was going to be home anyway despite being told I did not need to be home. This would have been a major deal as the guys had no clue what they were supposed to do. This was from the job foreman's own mouth, "I was just told to come to this address". Over all the consultant and workers were nice. In early July 2013, I called CTC to request an estimate for a large tree trimming/cutting job. On Friday, July 7, Christian the arborist came to my home to do the price estimate for the job I needed done. I opted to get the 20% discount for allowing CTC to select the job date after being told that it would be probably get started within the next two weeks. However, I was uncomfortable having to pay for 50% of the cost before the work was started. Two weeks later, I called the arborist to find out the status of the schedule for our job. The job had still not been scheduled. It was finally scheduled for Aug 7 at 8 am. On that date, the work crew of three arrived about 10 am and began the job. By around 2 pm, it was obvious to me that the crew was not trimming as much as I had expected as detailed in the estimate, especially on the higher branches that made it possible for squirrels and other wild animals to get on/off the roof of my two-story home. So, I called the arborist to come and direct the crew to get the trimming done correctly away from the house. The one large three on the front yard was also cut down flush to the ground on the first day. I did not notice that during that process that one of the round shrubs along the front of the house was crushed to where half to that bush was destroyed, leaving an obvious gap in these shrubs. With the additional trimming that still needed to be done, it was necessary for the crew to return the next morning to finish the work. They did arrive at 8 am and continued the trimming work that was unfinished. In addition, they were raking and picking up the loose debris from the trimming and cutting of the trees. They did not do good job of this. Since the job was finished, I have raked and picked up enough debris to fill more than one full-size green recycling city can of debris with a lot still visible throughout our yards . On Sep 13, I decided to email the arborist to point out my dissatisfaction with how my job was done. I have yet to get a response! Just today, I noticed that one of our patio metal double chairs was damaged where it is no longer usable without welding repairs! read more

Nickolas Young and Crew One did an outstanding job!! Dustin Thibodeaux (Arborist) met with us and did a thorough walk around our property and discussed what we wanted along with his recommendations. He was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. He quoted us a fair price and then followed up with a very detailed report (including pictures) of the work to be done. He informed us how busy they were and that it may be a few weeks before they could begin. After reading the great reviews, we were willing to wait. On the day the work began, Dustin stopped by and with Nickolas, we walked the property again and confirmed exactly what was to be done. Nickolas and Crew One got right to work. We had a lot of trees and most had been damaged by the ice storm in February and even 2 very large/tall palm trees that unfortunately didn't survive the 2021 snowmageddon. It took them about 3 days to complete all the work (I said we had a lot of trees!). Each day they did cleanup and by the time they finished, you could not even tell they had been there except for seeing all the beautiful trees they had trimmed! Nikolas and his crew were very friendly and professional. Dustin stopped by a couple of times during the process to make sure everything was going as planned and to answer any questions we may have had. Had a very friendly rep come out to quote me for services. I called a few weeks later ready to schedule, no answer. That's okay I get it, so I left a voicemail. No return call. A week later, I call again and it goes to voicemail again. A little weird, but okay, it's a business. Leave a second voicemail. Now two weeks later, just for the hell of it, I call again. It goes to voicemail. Are they even in business? How do you not return calls? Also, the quote I received is from a no reply email and nowhere on it does it even have an email. I went to their website and found and email and forwarded these complaints. So frustrating. Won't go with them even if they call back and won't ever go with them. These guys are AMAZING, they had 5 guys at my home for 2.5 days, normally would have been that long but they had a truck issue, even after they had to manage loading trailer instead of onsite chipping, they cleaned my patio, walk ways, driveways etc. I don't think my home has ever looked as good as when they left my home! Just had a bad experience with this company and came to Yelp to write my review when I found this person (link below) who had the exact same experience that I did with Christian Taylor. First thing I found unnerving was how quickly he wanted to discuss price. He looked at the tree in my front yard for about 2 seconds and said "well, the minimum amount we can do any work for is $375". After we discussed another tree on our property that they could trim as well, I thought the price he quoted me was pretty good for 2 trees so I told him it was a good price and gave him my email address so he could send me the quote. He also showed me the quote on his phone and asked me to sign saying that he had shown me the quote, which I did. At no time did I ever agree to using this company, Certified Tree Care, for my project. It wasn't until after I had signed for the quote that he decided to tell me, in a very high-pressure way, oh by the way, you need to pay half right now. When I questioned him saying that I hadn't agreed to hiring his company yet, he then said "but that's what you just signed for". Again, I disagreed with him, reminding him that he told me I was signing for the quote, not for any work agreement. He continued to argue with me, and tried several times to convince me that I had already agreed to hire them. When he finally realized that I wasn't going to back down or pay him any money, he said he would remove the "work order" and I walked him off my property. My experience with Christian Taylor, as a representative of Certified Tree Care of San Antonio, was very unprofessional and predatory. I picked Adrians brain on some other trees I opted to have cut, and he gave me some great suggestions on potential tree species to look into on my own to plant later. We were concerned about a few of our oaks after the freeze and Christian was able to come out within a couple of days after calling. In September we had a crew trim and shape a few of our trees and were very pleased with the results. The crew was on time, efficient and left no debris. we have worked with this tree company twice and had a very bad experience both times. The estimator changed the price that he offered after he started working. He did not recollect what we had agreed to previously and charge extra. That would've been OK I suppose had not done such a terrible job. Our tree limbs were cut not on the collar but 5 to 6 inches up on five different limbs many dead limbs were overlooked. When I called the estimator back to come and fix the problem he never showed up and he was rude on the phone. We have tried to contact this company and if you go to their website you will see that it's next to impossible to get hold of them. We've called several times since and have been told that no one is available to take the call by their robot. We have called many times and left messages telling them to take us off their mailing list but yet again today we got another request to cut our trees. That will never happen in this lifetime. Be very careful when dealing with this company and make your own record and have them sign it agreeing to do what they said they were going to do. read more

Love being the first :). This company came to my 82 year old mothers house wanting to do business. She scheduled an appointment for a bid. I was not happy. I dont like cold calling sales people. Well the guy was very professional and I checked them out online and they were new to nashville but established in Texas. She got a good deal on trimming trees and gave a deposit. After that the communications was horrible. Had a hard time getting through to someone to find out when they would do the work. They at first said they would probably do it before the first of october and that did not happen. I called the texas office since I could not get any response out of the Nashville office, and quickly got a response. I still had some communication issues after that but I learned they are just getting started in this markiet and there staff is overwhelmed. I can understand that. We were given a date and they missed it but they told us why and two days later they were there and did the work. They did more than what we paid for and did it very quickly. I think they had 7 or 8 people doing the work. They cleaned up after them selves and left everything perfect. I should give them a 3 star because of the communication problem but I do understand they are a start up in the Nashville market.
