I started researching on Yelp and read a lot of great reviews for several local companies. But one company stood out just a bit more which I decided to inquire with: Golden Oak Tree Care. At first I used the Yelp messaging to initiate contact with Reynaldo, the owner, but soon switched to text messaging. He was very quick to respond to my inquiries, needs and pricing after I sent (upon his request) photographs of the nine trees that needed attention. We agreed upon a very reasonable price, then set up a date and time for him and his crew to perform the work. My wife was home so she met the two gentleman that work with Reynaldo. They arrived at the designated timeframe and were very cordial and polite according to my wife. They quickly went to our backyard to prep for their trimming. Reynaldo arrived shortly afterwards but before I arrived home from work. Upon arrival I met him and his crew. All three were really cool and answered all of my questions regarding the types of services they do besides tree care and what they do not do. That was really great news for me since I have several more landscaping projects I can request Reynaldo and his crew to help me out with. Reynald inquired with me if I would like my shrubbery trimmed as well. After deciding which shrubs needed attention, he indicated the additional amount to our original agreed upon amount, to which I agreed to and requested he take care of our shrubs. He answered all my questions and I felt the most comfortable with him than I did with any of the other companies that came out during the week. Winds damaged my trees and I needed immediate removals. Our experience with this company was extremely disappointing…read more The crew initially came out and removed two palm trees, but told us they would need to return to complete the stump grinding. The day they were supposed to come back, no one showed up. For an entire week, I called and texted multiple times asking when they would return, but received no response. Ironically, the only time I finally heard back was after I sent a message saying I would be leaving a Yelp review. Suddenly, the owner sent someone out that same day to finish the stump grinding. When the work was completed, my husband asked the worker what payment was due. He didn't give us an answer. Prior to that, the owner had mentioned giving us some type of discount because of the inconvenience, but he never confirmed the final amount owed or when payment was expected. Nothing was put in writing. The following week, the original worker unexpectedly showed up with another employee, saying they were there to finish the job. I explained that the work had already been completed by someone else the owner had sent. At that point, they told us we still owed money. My question is: Why wasn't the final balance communicated when the work was completed? Why wasn't anything provided in writing? We specifically asked about payment and were given no information. Instead of communicating clearly, they came back later expecting payment without ever having discussed the final amount or due date. The lack of communication, missed appointments, and overall disorganization made this a frustrating experience. I would not recommend this company based on how our job was handled
