They use catch phrases like we are a community and understand that kids will make mistakes, we are pillars, we will work with your child, were here for them. Well, it turned out that it didn't apply to my son. My experience with the current leadership at Moreau I feel was very bias towards my son and wife. After serving his suspension he was not afforded a review committee board meeting as described in the student handbook 2024-2025 to review parties involved, evidence etc. The principle stated that she knows my son is a good kid but it's better for him and the Moreau community for him not be a student here at the school. Our appeal to the principal decision was summited with no response from the leadership. Per student handbook, appeals are to be submitted to the principle within 24 hrs. The principal said at that moment that appeals are handled by the school president. So, the appeal was summited again to the school president. Three days pass and my wife contacted the school president who claimed she hasn't checked her emails in the past three days and that appeals are handled by the principle. The appeal was forwarded via email back to the principle. Still no response to the appeal. My son was not allowed to return to Moreau. The principle stated she's doing my son a favor by not expelling him but instead letting me withdrawal him. Well, that hasn't turned out well for my son or family. Let me share this with everyone who reading my review. Our refund was denied because of their refund policy. We have paid over $12,000 dollars in tuition to Moreau to date for my son who only has completed 3.5 weeks of school. That's right over $12,000 for 3.5 weeks of school. This should be a crime to have the ability to do this. Moreau sites that each head count for tuition is calculated in their yearly school budget. Moreau has no regards to how their decision has financially and mentally impacted my son and our family. No regards to my family budget and finances. This is unethical that Moreau is not going to refund my son tuition. There needs to be consumer protections laws for paying families at private schools such as Moreau Catholic High. Parents who currently have kids enrolled at Moreau need to question the business office about tuition insurance for consumer protection. The super sad part about all of this is Moreau touts' community but don't live up to it. My wife submitted an addendum to the appeal letter explaining how much we are involved in the Moreau and Oakland Diocese community. The school principal and president apparently don't care that I'm highly known and respected in the cyo track and field community. The school principal and president don't care that I help coach Ben with the track team some years ago at Moreau. The school principal and president don't care that some of your best student athletes have been impacted by my coaching and mentoring. The school principal and president don't care about all the voluntary work my wife has done at my son middle catholic school prior to Moreau. The school principal and president don't care that many families currently that have kids enrolled at Moreau know of the contributions me and wife have done in the community. Just a pointed fact public school students have more protected student rights than private school students who pay tuition. Nonetheless, I'm seeking legal counsel.

Now both my son and daughter attend and I have a good knowledge of most of the sports, activities, clubs, teachers, faculty, etc. Overall our experience has been top notch, it truly is the best High School in South Alameda County. We have been so pleased with the staff and faculty and we have seen such a renovation boom with new the sports field, bleachers, sound system, scoreboard, etc. They've modernized the campus theatre, and now they are in the process of renovating the individual class rooms. It's amazing to see things change so fast, right before your eyes. My son had some difficulty his sophomore year with a couple of subjects and his counselors were "On It", they worked with him with special tutoring after school and co-lab's. They made sure he didn't slip through the cracks, my wife and I were amazed and grateful for the outpouring of attention when they see a student struggling. He's back on track, thanks to the staff, and is prepared for college next year. Now, is everything, (as Mary Poppins said) "Practically Perfect in Every Way"? No, we had a couple of teachers who tested our nerves, the cost of a private education has made me sweat bullets once or twice and I have not agreed with everything the upper management of the school has done, but overall I'd give the school a 95% out of 100. There is always room for improvement and it's continuing to be a great experience. If you can afford it and you wish for your children to attend one of the better colleges or universities in the country, you can't beat the higher education model of Moreau Catholic.

It has a huge field next to many basketball courts. It is a great place to go and play sports or hang out in the field. If you are the only ones in there, it's possible to let the pups run freely, but I wouldn't do this if there were other people in there, especially kids. It seems like a clean place and has all the space you could ask for! It is just down the street from our house, so we walk there, but it seems like the parking is really bad during school hours. Just driving down Tamarack at that time is hectic. Definitely a great place to hang out! Looking forward to coming back here when the weather clears up.

Additionally, we know how great of a school FCS is since my husband is a FCS Alumni and I was a substitute Teacher at the school for a year a while back. We thought that we would give public school a try, to save some money, and if we didn't like it or it didn't work out for our kids, we would re-evaluate our options.  This year when schools transitioned to distanced learning, due to COVID, our worlds were turned upside down, along with the rest of the world.  Our kids were struggling not being in the classroom and not being able to socialize with children their age, so when we heard that FCS was bringing back kids safely on campus we jumped on the opportunity to transfer them and have never once regretted that decision!  The Teachers, Principal and Staff at FCS have been AMAZING to say the least.  When we drove on campus to drop the kids off to school on their "first day" we immediately felt that our kids would be well taken care of, which was not a confident feeling for us at our previous school. The organization, care and seamless process to get the kids safely on and off of campus puts our minds at ease.  The Teachers do a wonderful job with communication and my kids immediately loved their new school and look forward to Chapel every week, which was also not an option at our previous school.  We appreciate and love our new FCS home and are so glad we transferred our kids to this school when we did. I went to this school 35 years ago, and I still remember it! I remember the young boy who came into…read moreclass late every day after lunch/recess puffy faced and crying. And, I remember the shame, humiliation, and fear I felt as a sweet 5 year old who got sent to the principals office for a spanking because I pulled tiny leaves and twigs off a bush and lose on the floor to make a little nest for birdies. I still remember the girl who told on me for this "offense" and how I had to remain standing when the whole yard, maybe 100 kids sat down, after the yard duty blew her whistle to signal someone's (me) in trouble. Making me stand amongst all the sitting kids was to shame and humiliate me. I then remember a couple of teachers asking me how I would feel if someone plucked my limbs off as I did to the poor bushes. They then shuttled me to the principals office in which I had to stand in line of maybe 5 other kids who were before me to face the principal. Then, I saw the boy who showed up late puffy faced and teary eyed every day after lunch/recess, leave the principals office after obviously enduring some sort of physical punishment by the person in charge of this institution. Then it was my turn to enter into the principals office. I was alone with this person. I was shaking. This person pulled out the paddle that she must have used thousands of time before day after day after day. She told me if I ever break the limbs off another one of gods creation's again that I would be paddled, as she smacked it against her hand. I remember leaving the office and seeing my neighbor, also a teacher, who said hello to me. I avoided her for the rest of my time living in our home as I was worried she would share what I had done with my mom. Then every day since then, seeing the same boy who came late to class after lunch/recess every day hurt my heart so badly as I knew he was being beaten by a paddle every day. This is all I remember from my thankfully only one year at this place. I'm sure it's changed since then but wow what an awful mark it left on me and I'm sure so many others, especially that poor boy.
