I have been going to C'est La V for more than ten years and the quality of the cut and color has always been great. The owner (Vicky) of the salon has very high standards. I have seen a handful of stylists come and go from there over the years and I have seen (and experienced) their work. I had been getting the same shade of highlights for several years, and have never been too radical with the cuts. I knew when Vicky recommended that BEATA do my blow-dry, I would be in good hands. The truth is, BEATA did the best work I have ever seen. She gave me a terrific style and when I came back to BEATA, she made a recommendation for my highlights that was so beautifully done that it enhanced my skin tone. It was natural-looking, bright and sunny. I had so many compliments on the cut and the color! It literally looked like I came off the runway or from the page of a magazine! I never knew I could achieve that look! My hair is long and pretty thick but has become a little frizzy and dry after having a baby. BEATA transformed the way I feel about my hair and really boosted my confidence in the way I look. Her work was so great that I went back "just because" for a blow-dry and style in between my normal cut & color appointments (something I had never done before). BEATA also made the best recommendations for haircare products and styling tools that I have ever had. She gives good, practical advice. When she works, she is very focused and has the skill of both a sculptress and a scientist. She is a master of precision and artfulness. BEST KEPT SECRET. I can't believe I am doing this...I have put off writing a review for YEARS because I didn't want their calendar clogging up lol...but I'm pretty sure my position is secure now! :) This salon is like no other. I started going in 1996, and when I left the city for the suburbs I spent 5 years trying geographically convenient places without success until I could no longer stand it...and have been driving from Barrington to Chicago every 6 weeks for the past 15 years. I used to see the owner Vicky, but when she entered semi-retirement I transitioned to daughter Christie, who has been doing my hair for about a decade now. SHE. IS. AMAZING. There is literally nothing she can't do! Color, cut, extensions....And as a bonus, she feels like family! She is the warmest, most caring person, and absolutely brilliant and fascinating so the conversations are incredible! I won't go into how many different ways over the years she has been a friend to me in ways way beyond working the salon. I am a long time client of Anna Zawada, (formerly at Carissima Salon), and recently had a facial treatment in her new space at C'est La V in Lincoln Park. Anna recommended the new crystal free microdermabrasion treatment by "Skin Bella" This was a very relaxing treatment, and the experience was more like a facial than any microdermabrasion I've tried in the past. The Skin Bella system uses an ultrasonic pulse application technique, while skin products are applied and massaged intermittently. No scratchy product is applied and not only was it a completely rejuvenating experience, but my skin glowed for days following the treatment. Anna is well educated in skin care, and has very professional, trustworthy opinions and solutions to any skin problems you may have. She uses high quality products and is very understanding of what I need as a client. I've been regularly going to C'est La V now for 5+ years for anything ranging from a blow-out, trim, ombre, full color, highlights..You name it, I've done it. It is BY FAR the best hidden gem for a hair salon in the city. Christie is amazing in always knowing exactly what I want done with my hair. Every time I get my hair done by Christie, I receive a multitude of compliments to follow. I used to live down the street from C'est La V and even though I have now moved to the Loop, I wouldn't even think twice about going anywhere else but here. Christie has mastered the subtle way to make my hair look amazing while still looking natural. Beata has a talent that I have come to find only a few stylists have. She clearly is an exceptional stylist who can literally do anything! While there are other stylists who provide respectable hair care Beata can do what only a handful of people in the industry are either willing to do or capable of doing. Beata actually listens to her clients, understands what they want and then gives them what they want and need to look and feel great! She is by far the best stylist that I have seen. I wish so much that I could take her with me wherever I go! In C'est La V my hair was healthy, strong and in the best condition it had been in years after suffering from hair damage and hair loss at the hands of poor hair technicians. I'm naturally a redhead and the places I had gone to always left me with yellow tinted highlights - not the pretty white blonde I wanted. Anna is a true professional and really cares about her cleints. She does manicures, pedicures, waxing, facials and more. I have very sensitive skin and she has spent a lot of time with me to find producrts that I can use. She also sells high quality skin care products. I know I am in good hands with Anna. Anna has a medical background as a nurse that proved to be very useful in the matter of beauty. She has been taking care of Lincoln Park area customers for over 15 years. The treatments I was going for were: microdermabrasion, eyebrow wax and eyelash tint. I had chemical peel very badly done and I needed someone that would repair the damage of my skin. This place is GREAT! I bought a "life booker" coupon for a cut and blow-out and ended up staying to get a highlight/low light and conditioning treatment also. I moved to Chicago about a year ago and haven't been able to find a salon that I trust and love and I finally have! Christie is absolutely great - I love the cut and color, I could not be happier.
