We just happened upon this cute little restaurant on our travels up to Wilmington last weekend and we're so happy to find the food and staff superb! I left by favorite coverup by mistake and the owner actually sent to to me the next day! What a great find so hapay we dined with you. The place was packed! A hidden gem in Wilmington ... a well kept secret of the locals ... From the outside .. it looks like a road side hole in the wall but once youre in, its a whole new world ! Most people enter the bar entrance where the small patio area is .. but on the other side of the patio is the main entrance where you are created by the host stand .. You would never know how big this place is from the outside but once in... its like one of the hamster cage cages with never ending tunnels to different rooms/area... RSVP are definitely suggested since walkins are usually in Bar area or Patio area .. which isnt bad .. but its limited seating .. Staff here are cool but service can be a lil wait if they are busy . Menu is a Panamanian vibe with lots of good eats .. One of the salsas you must get is the Elote salsa its very nommm nommmm next would be the Goat Gauc which is equally amazing. The Ceviche is a must get ... yes get the Quattro which is 4oz of each one so you can sample all ! The scallops and pork belly of mash is pretty good but would be better over the coconut rice . The special of the day was a sheepshead filet over risotto which was pretty damn good ! The corvina was ok but was a little bit over done and ended up a lil drier than expected. Highly recommend asking for the homemade hot sauce ... its amazing and goes on everything! This is definitely a locals Hotspot and an interesting place to people watch... Ceviche's is every bit as charming and the food equally as delicious as when we first visited five years ago. Tonight we had the yucca frites and coconut shrimp tapas. My husband ordered arroz con pollo, and I had the frijoles y arroz. The portion was very generous - I have rice and beans for lunch tomorrow. We ordered the Spanish beignets to go, and they were fantastic. They come with berry compote. The service was wonderful, but it was very busy on a Thursday night! Amazing spot! Would 100% add to the list of "must visit" places near Wilmington. Small place with a great ambience and very friendly service. HUGE shout out to the bartender Natalie who is so friendly and pleasant to talk to. She was amazing! We ordered the sangria and watermelon mojito to start- both fantastic and the mojito wasn't too sweet. We then ordered the niña ceviche and blackened scallops with pork belly dish. This was our first time at Ceviche's. We joined some friends who have been here before. We started with drinks and the ceviche sampler - SO GOOD! I've never had ceviche before and was slightly hesitant (not a fan of fishy tasting things) and this was DELISH! I loved every bite including the scallops - which I don't normally like. I then had the coconut shrimp and beef empanadas. Both were excellent! Hubs had the special (pork belly & scallops) which was also just perfect! Service was prompt and allowed us time to chat with friends, and yet continued to check back in along the way. We will be back for sure! Also - the parking lot is small, so carpool when you can. This is a family favorite for us. We came here all of the time before having our daughter, and we still love coming and bringing her. The food is so fresh and the flavors are incredible. Really beautiful restaurant that's close to Wrightsville Beach. They have a bar section and a dining section. We ate in the dining section. We got the guacamole trio. I thoroughly loved the butternut squash version. The others were good as well but lacked a little seasoning. I ordered the salsa as well and that added the extra seasoning I was looking for when I combined them. I ordered the Arroz con Pollo. The chicken and rice was very well seasoned but the slaw just tasted like raw cabbage. I mixed it with the guacamole and salsa which made for a great dressing. Came here for the first time and had such a lovely experience. The restaurant is so unique and nice! The outdoor and indoor design is great, the service is amazing and so kind, and the food is even better! Started off with the Salsa Fresca and chips, which was SO good! Then for my entree, I got the Ropa Vieja, which was 10/10! The portion sizes were great and I even had some leftovers for later. We sat in the back patio with heaters, not ideal. I would say the ceviche was just ok. We got the sampler of 4. Nothing special, and same with the guacamole sampler. We came down to Wilmington as least a couple times a year. We saw a good review and decided to come try this place after a sunset boat ride. We wore a nice top and a nice pair of jeans. My husband had to use the restroom, so I walked in and asked for a table. They were busy but still had open tables. The hostess gave me a look, and told me to check the bar area. Didn't tell me the wait time. I walked over the bar area and saw a dirty table and 3 separate open bar seats. I walked back to the hostess when my husband came out their restroom. He asked for a table. The hostess told him there's a 30 minute wait without looking at me. At that point, I just didn't want to stay in a place that makes me feel so uncomfortable. I was just at Ceviche's. The ceviche was so spicy that I couldn't even eat it. Same with my daughter's. The waiter took it off the bill, the manager never showed his face. The empanadas were so thick its dough that you couldn't even taste the filling. No one apologized, the waiter said that the manager if chef would taste the ceviche, but we never heard a word. If this was a half decent restaurant, the manager would have come and spoken to us, offering apologies, & possibly offering a dessert on the house. But NOTHING. We will NEVER return. Reservations recommended this place gets packed, but definitely still has wait to be seating by the bar or at the bar and outside. The place is a small house with lots of hidden table areas to seat. We tried the ceviche sampler, empanadas with goat cheese, coconut shrimp, sancocho and all the desserts. I recommend sticking the original ceviche the others just not my pállate since I don't enjoy sweet with my citrus. The empanadas were good and the sancocho soup was good. read more

Our second time at Ceviche's. The first we just had the ceviche sampler and some yucca fries; both were good. In talking to the server, we found out the restaurant has Paella, but only on Wednesdays. We decided to try the Paella with friends. We sat on the back patio on a very nice evening. The decor is simple and comfortable. We ordered cocktails, which everyone enjoyed, although two of the four were pretty bad until they got a stir. After that, very good. We had the ceviche sampler, which was even better than the first time. The yucca fries were delicious, and the empanada was pretty good. Four and a half stars so far. Then, the two plates: blackened Mahi and Paella. The blackened Mahi could have been excellent, but the fish was overcooked and the mashed potatoes too loose. The gastrique was tasty, but the fish was barely edible. The Paella was the disappointment of the night. There was a large Snapper filet on top, which was even more overcooked. The rice was dry, with random add-ins, like two small green olives. There were a few clams, which we called "micro clams", which had nothing to them and could only have been in the dish for decoration. Somehow the shrimp survived, and they were quite good. There was no crispy rice from the bottom of the pan. This was not Paella, nor was it a good dish reminiscent of Paella. The outing was still fun, so if you go, have the ceviche and some tapas that don't involve cooked fish, and it should work out for you. read more

A girlfriend and I decided to grab dinner here after work recently. I hadn't been in awhile and was so excited! We sat outside (even on a super hot day, the patio was comfortable, and there were those spinning things on the tables to keep flies from bothering us). Our waitress, Natalie, was really attentive and friendly. We started by splitting the GOAT guacamole- deeeelicious! Only issue is that there definitely needed to be more chips with that happiness. For dinner, I decided to try the blackened scallops and pork belly. It was delicious! I was worried it might be a bit spicy, but no such issue- everything was so tasty, and the entire meal was super filling. No leftovers at all! I can't wait to return! read more

We got a reservation for two for the back patio. There was a fan and what looked like an outdoor air conditioner. It was still very hot trapping heat in the small outdoor space. There were also a lot of flies. Surprisingly they kept landing on our limbs but fortunately not the food so that was a plus. Next time, we will be sure to make an indoor reservation. We shared the Quatro allowing us to sample all the ceviches. The sea bass, mahi, scallops and langoustine were bathed in delicious concoctions of lime, onions and other ingredients which made each cerviche unique. Of the four, I thought the scallops were the least fresh. A few of the scallops dried out likely from being on top of the barrel. The three salsas were ok. The sea bass was really fresh. The Panamanian paella needed a bit more shellfish. It was missing something but Im not sure what. Maybe I'm used to a more wet rice from the paellas I've had before. Overall, I would definitely come back for the ceviches, but skip the salsas and to try the other entree options. read more

"Got the fearing, power steering Pistons popping, ain't no stopping now Panama" (Van Halen) Fantastic.... Ceviche's was fantastic. Ceviche's Owner/chef, Hunter Tiblier grew up in Panama fishing with his dad and picking mangoes. His restaurant pays homage to Ceviche's Panamanian roots and native flavors. We started our five-star lunch with an order of mango guacamole ($8) served with house made tortilla chips. The guacamole was fantastic with the fresh avocado and mango flavors bursting through. The lunch menu gave us Blackened Corvina Tacos ($20) and Coconut Shrimp ($14). The tacos were mine. Corvina is a white fleshed fish found in the Pacific Ocean along Central and South America. Each taco had a double corn tortilla, a big hunk of fish and plenty of pickled cabbage, pineapple salsa, jalapeño aioli, and guacamole. If that isn't enough for you, no worries because the dish is served with a big scoop of coconut rice. I asked for some hot sauce, and out came a goldish sauce that was nuclear in a great way. I understand Chef Tiblier's father makes it himself. The Coconut Shrimp dish included six big, breaded shrimps served over arugula and tossed with citrus vinaigrette and drizzled with a sriracha honey sauce. They were a fantastic combination of flavors. Our gourmet Panamanian lunch totaled $44.94 after tax and before tip. It was one of the best meals of our vacation. read more

Taste explosion. My tastebuds were dancing from all of the perfectly balanced flavors. I've been a long time fan of Ceviche's but the special tonight took me to a different level of pleasure. The special was Monk Fish medallions on truffle mash potatoes with crunchy sweet potato crisp and broccolini. The Monk Fish was prepared perfectly. The flavors in this dish were balanced perfectly. Truffle can be overwhelming but this chef got it right. Each bite teased you with the truffle and the light gravy on top has a spice that gave each bite a slight heat which balanced the truffle. The crunch of the sweet potatoes on top of the dish added to the multiple textures of the dish. The chef really did an amazing job on this special. My mouth is watering just writing this review. The chef also came out to see how I liked the dish and all I could say was superbly balanced and delicious. My husband and friend had two dishes that are always favorites on the menu, the scallops with pork belly and the tuna poke. Always great choices. My advice is never leave before you have the beignets and the "pot a cream." You have to eat them together. Every server who passed our table checked on us and made sure we had everything we needed. The manager is also amazing. We sat in the bar tonight but I think every area of this small, cozy restaurant is enjoyable. Started with chorizo and goat cheese empanadas - perfect and an order of fried Brussels sprouts. Served with homemade tortillas my date had the bay scallops and loved the dish; the sweetness of the scallops shined. What can I say my husband and I enjoy coming here to eat and have flights of rum. It's nestled right at the drawbridge by Wrightsville Beach.
