Stopped into Shark Bar for a late lunch while visiting Wrightsville Beach and was pleasantly surprised. I had the Caesar salad, which was fresh, flavorful, and much better than I expected. My friends ordered the smash burger and tacos, and both looked incredible--they said everything was delicious. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, especially the bartender, who provided great service and was making some impressive-looking drinks. The sushi coming out of the kitchen also looked fantastic and is definitely something I'd like to try on a future visit. We've stayed across the street on two vacations, but we also made a point at least two other trips to return to the Shark Bar. It is such a great restaurant. We came three times on our recent vacation. The first time my husband had a burger, and I had shrimp tacos. Then we tried the half price sushi happy hour, which is a great deal. We aren't sushi experts, so we tried the crispy rice appetizer and the California roll along with a tempura shrimp roll of some kind. On our third visit, my husband ordered another burger and I had the fried shrimp platter. We can't wait to go back when we visit the area again. I stopped in here for dinner after an afternoon in Wilmington. It's located right off of one of the main beach access parking lots. I ordered the blackened Mahi tacos and a cocktail. Weird service...at the bar and wasn't greeted by a server. Just handed waters for the three of us. Then we watched the server wait on 2 tables that were seated after us. We requested a drink menu but she never returned to get our orders. The only way we were able to put an order in was to ask the hostess if we "could order food and drinks" duh! I attended a private event at Shark Bar and Kitchen recently. I have passed this place many times heading to the beach and had no idea the gem that was inside. The intimate seating, well stocked bar, and unique decor all made for an inviting location for my team. We enjoyed several different dishes including smash burger style sliders, shrimp cocktail, oysters, fresh sushi, poke, and more. Every bite was tasty and they were washed down with classic cocktails and beer selections that anyone could enjoy. The staff were all friendly and helpful. There were no empty glasses or stomachs. I hear that there's going to be a sushi bar upstairs soon, so I've got to come back for that. All in all, this is a great little spot for classic beach fare and a solid drink while people watching out of the window. read more

I got the market fish sandwich ($23) and it came out in about 20 minutes. The fish was cooked and seasoned perfectly! I absolutely love how the fish tasted in my mouth. The chips were also quite good. The staff were friendly. The only complaint was that we were a little cramp where we were sat. Overall the food was amazing! Very fresh and amazing. Ordered the shark burger with no onion, no tomato and a key lime pie togo. When I got the burger, there was onion and tomato on it. The food was good. Though when I sat at the bar I saw about 5 different employees sitting down, that is fine!! I don't expect them to be standing the entire shift however I was sitting at the bar for a while and nobody greeted me or said hello which shocked me because I was the only person in there. As a bartender, I find this to be appalling. I walked out to my car and then walked back inside to find my water and my menu gone, so they were aware enough to see that I was gone, but not aware enough to see that I wanted to maybe you get a drink and order. The host was very sweet. She helped me and she took my order. The only thing the bartender did was make my drink and check me out, I believe she was training someone or from what I could tell, she was training another bartender how to make a cocktail which, in my personal opinion, as a lead bartender does not supersede taking care of a guest. We came here after a long day at the beach. Our service was fast and our waitress was great. I got the firecracker shrimp tacos and my boyfriend got the Baja style fish tacos and we both said they were one of the best seafood tacos we have had. I will say that the inside smelled a little funny to me and oddly enough the restrooms smelled better than the restaurant itself LOL. Tried Shark Bar last night with a group of friends. Parking was easy since it's the off season. I liked the atmosphere and appreciated the fact that the table was a good size for having a group conversation as there were six of us. I had the seasonal aperol spritz which was delicious. It was slightly sweet, which is unusual for a aperol but really delicious. For dinner I ordered the bacon burger with mushrooms and the homemade kettle chips. The burger was very good but nothing amazing. It was good sized and I saved half for lunch. The prices are a bit high but it's at the beach so to be expected. I doubt I'll add it to my normal dining rotation but it is one of the few places that I'm aware of that does happy hour so id definitely come back for that. read more

We have been to shark bar a few times over the years. Every visit I swear it gets better! This most recent visit, we stopped in at lunchtime on a Sunday and it was quite busy. The restaurant is on the small side, so you should get there early if you want a seat at the bar. We ordered the poke appetizer, the shrimp and chips, and the mahi tacos. Everything was outstanding!! Came here for a quick dinner after recommendations from a friend. The restaurant is pretty small but has a cool bar area along with some tables for groups of four. I was in town for a wedding with my family and we were a group of 12 but we split into 3 tables of four. When I asked about happy hour it immediately ticked off our server. He rudely told us happy hour was illegal and then seemed pissed when we said we needed a minute to decide on drinks. After we ordered drinks and food, he never checked on us again, was consistently rude and never refilled our waters or asked if wanted more wine. Additionally, I ordered a fried fish sandwich but I got a blackened fish sandwich. Since he never came back, I never got a chance to tell him that it was wrong and just ate it.
