The restaurant is pretty with great atmosphere. Our waitress was fantastic. But the food was horrible. We started with the calamari, that was recommended by our waitress. It was overcooked and lacked flavor. Our waitress also recommended the blackened seafood pasta, so I ordered it. The shrimp were overcooked and rubbery. There were a few sweet bay scallops and 3 mussels. These were ok but overall, I would not order again. My husband ordered the Taco Waco with fries. He said they were just OK. Great Restaurant. Great location. The most successful restaurant in that particular location. There is good reason. Consistency. Great food. Great drinks. Attentive Staff. Great Management. My wife and I have eaten at Coquina numerous times since they opened. We typically sit at a high top table in the bar. The beer is cold, the cocktails are very good. The appetizers and entrees to sandwiches and salads are ON POINT! We have had numerous items on the menu... nothing has let us down. In fact, the manager is so in tune with the kitchen, he actually brought my wife a fresh dish, because he felt that the first one was sub par. They take care of their customers. We are loyal patrons because they care. I see regular faces in their staff. I feel like the owners take good care of their employees. Jason, the manager ALWAYS drops by the table to say, "Hi." I stopped in for lunch today and had 6 white cap oysters on the half shell. They were really good and served with a nice minionette. The small house salad is so delicious with the tomato basil dressing. I also had the chubby Mary drink which is a Bloody Mary with some Extra goodies. As much time as I spend at Mayfaire, I've never popped into this restaurant; however, I had a mid day medical appointment right around the corner and was really hungry afterward, so Coquina Fishbar seemed like a logical place to have a late lunch. I really liked the interior space. It was much larger than I was expecting with very relaxing decor and lots of real plants. It wasn't busy, so I don't know if the excellent service was due to that or if hosts and servers are always so friendly and attentive, but yeah, really really great service. The Caesar salad with grilled chicken was one of the best I've ever had; Parmesan was plentiful, and the anchovies tasted quality. I live in the area and plan to take my husband there soon. The service at the bar was good but the margarita and appetizer did not taste great. The wonton chips couldn't break into the tuna tower - it was like it was packed too tight and the rice was tough? The restaurant is located in the heart of Mayfaire Town Center just next to the movie theater and looks festive for the holidays. Phoebe was our server and she was very pleasant and attentive. We started with some beverages and house salad. Then we tried the Scallops platter and the PoQuina Boy. Both very good. For dessert, Phoebe recommended the rum cake. I am more of a chocolate person, but the rum cake came out hot with ice cream! Very good. Just to note, the cake has walnuts, but is not mentioned on menu. Prices were reasonable for seafood, although I thought maybe the portions were a little small, in my opinion. Food and service was really good and I loved the high ceiling inside. Really nice ambiance here. Overall good experience, I would come here again and order something different to try, and maybe enjoy something chocolate for dessert next time. read more

Stopped in after reading reviews on Yelp. Had to try the conch fritters. Great menu and they have a great open patio next to the IMAX. Started with a strawberry daiquiri after minimal food and no alcohol since Thursday. Started with apps on the patio; conch fritters and fish dip then we relocated to inside just in time before the torrential downpour. We had reservations elsewhere but this menu was quite appealing and we were not about to switch venues in the pouring rain. Glad we stayed. Our meals were excellent... I got the blackened Mahi Mahi, my wife got the grilled combo, my son got the grilled flounder, my oldest daughter got the salmon chowder and a burger and my youngest daughter got fried shrimp. The service here is horrible! walked in and was told there was a wait. When i asked about the 20 empty tables was told the kitchen staff could not keep up. I asked if i could grab a drink at the bar and have a seat at an empty table was told no. i was told could grab a drink at bar but would have to stand while waiting. after bringing up that over half the tables were empty again, was rudely told I would be cheating the other idiots who waiting while standing. I can see why half the tables are empty and they cant find enough people to work in kitchen. i wont be back, this place is poorly managed only a matter of time before they go under. read more

First time going to Coquina after doing shopping at Mayfaire. Everything from the service to the drinks was great.. but let me tell you the FOOD was spectacular. My husband and I both got the special of the night which was fresh red snapper over some coconut risotto and a yummy beure blanc sauce of some sort. It was to die for! A girlfriend and I had lunch here one Friday afternoon- the restaurant wasn't super busy, and we were seated right away. We enjoyed the conch fritters for our appetizer which were crispy and delicious. I enjoyed the scallop meal- the scallops are little ones, not big scallops, so you get 40 scallops instead of 5 big ones. The sides were tasty and complimented the scallops well. I absolutely love everything about this place. First of all the space is bright and open and beautiful. The outdoor seating is comfortable and one of my favorite outdoor restaurant spaces. The people that work here are top notch! Super friendly and helpful. Jason, the manager, is fun to talk to and puts in the work. He isn't one of those managers just tells his employees what to do, he's back there doing the work too. He has helped me and my husband make great choices while trying to decide what to order. Decided to have lunch here the other weekend, service was great . We were greeted immediately and asked for a table outside , it was cold inside . We were showed to our table and given menus and water was poured. I have a salad- (sesame tuna) and fish tacos here before and both were excellent. I had chosen the Oyster Salad ; minus the goat cheese and asked to substitute grilled shrimp for the oysters. Also ordered was a Po'quina Boy - a fried shrimp PoBoy- minus the tomato. Lunch came fairly quickly and looked perfect- what we ordered. The salad looked amazing the roasted beets and butternut squash were so tasty. The dressing came on the side , as asked - lovely maple-bacon flavor , not too sweet , seasoned well. As I worked my way through the salad I came upon plenty of black- past it's prime and inedible . So frustrating and very off putting . The shrimp Po'quina was good , shrimp perfectly fried, light and tender. The fries were good , also perfectly fried and seasoned, the roll was nicely toasted . Liked sitting outside and service was great . I gave it only 3 stars for the inedible parts of my salad. read more

I am only giving three stars due to the very long wait for us to get our food and lack of communication from the staff. Our waitress did not come to apologize nor let us know the kitchen is backed up, she seemed to avoid us entirely until our food came which was disappointing. However, I did enjoyed the food and drinks. We would have loved to sit outside however the live music was extremely loud. Only about two parties were sitting out there probably due to the same reason. I think it's a nice place that looks nice inside, we probably just came at a bad time. We came in on a Thursday for their lunch special. It was a beautiful fall day and they have a nice sunny patio. It is a very cool restaurant with a modern classy beach look. We came in before Halloween and they had a 12 foot skeleton - very festive fun decor. The $10 lunch special changes daily and we came in for the Po'Coquina sandwich with a side and drink. You can get shrimp, scallops, oysters or flounder. I went with the shrimp, fries and tea. Everything very tasty but the ratio of bun to shrimp was off. There was way too much bun for the six shrimps. It was a nice lunch and I'd like to try the other menu items. Our waiter was great. He was friendly, kept our drinks full and told us about their Friday live music. I had lunch at the Coquina Fishbar yesterday (Friday). I got the cheeseburger special and it was one of the best burgers I have ever had. I don't know what they do to the onions but they are amazing. Our family went here for lunch today. The staff were very friendly and the restaurant was nice. Unfortunately that's where the "good" ended and the flavorless began... For as empty as the restaurant was, it took quite awhile for our food to come out. I ordered a piña colada, that tasted nothing like a piña colada. It was more like an orange flavored Slurpee. My daughter ordered a Shirley Temple that she said did not taste like a Shirley Temple. As far as the food went, the ketchup was the most flavorful thing on the table. The scallop Waco tacos were more slaw than anything, the Cuban sliders were very dry, the yellow rice was a bit overcooked, and in general, things just lacked flavor. read more

The calamari is gluten free and egg free and has the surprise of shrimp and peppers- it was so good, we ordered 2! Food just hit better from there- the Cuban was delicious and the burger was juicy and seasoned great. The tuna poke was really good- even without the wonton chips (gluten). We finished the meal off with GF chocolate mouse and the rum cake- both with our kids devoured. Made reservations for this new spot, located in Mayfaire, next to the theatre. It was almost full on a Wednesday night. There are both indoor and outdoor seating. No heater is outside. They seemed to have good spacing in-between each table indoors. It's kind of cute inside, beachy color theme, casual. Staff were wearing masks. There was hand sanitizer available after you walk in, although, it may not be as noticeable at first since it's not with the hostess. Our party ordered Conch Fritters ($8.5), Tacos Wacos ($13), Blackened Seafood Pasta ($19), the fried chicken sandwich ($12), the Po'quina Boy with flounder ($13) and the Chocolate mousse pie in a Oreo crust ($6). The Conch Fritters had good flavor but it had too much breading and not enough conch. It also wasn't deep-fried well- it was not crispy. The dipping sauce was more of a sweet remoulade, not Pickapeppa as advertised. Our friends thought the Tacos wacos with scallops and the Blackened seafood pasta were good. There are other protein options for the tacos wacos, including shrimp, smoked pork, or flounder. The tacos came in big deep fried wonton shells- The only thing our friend didn't like was that the shells were a bit greasy. My partner was not that impressed with the fried chicken sandwich. The roll was not soft enough either. I thought my Po'quina Boy was good. They honored my request to cook the flounder "griddled" instead of beer battered as listed on the menu. The fish was flaky and tender. It would have been nice if the fish had more of a crispy exterior. The sandwich was huge, 8 in long, so I could only finish about half of it. The Cuban bread it was served on was nice and soft, but, it wasn't toasted, as advertised. The thin-cut fries that came with the sandwiches and tacos weren't very crispy. Even when we asked for crispy fries to replace the soggy fries, they were still not very crispy. They also had too much salt on them. The Chocolate mousse pie with a Oreo crust and topped with whipped cream was a delicious ending to the meal. It was rich and sweet. My partner was disappointed they did not have a Bloody Mary available. I noticed my knife utensil had fingerprints on it, front and back, which was a turn off for cleanliness. I wouldn't mind coming back here again, but hope they make some improvements. read more
