Wow, wow, wow. I have been blown away into the dimension of great ceviche. It was our very first time, and the first impression was nailed to the coffin. Because of the fabulous menu and amazing service, the restaurant was completely packed, but the service never lost a heartbeat. From the host, to the bartender, to the waiter, to the chef, to check out, is as if they were all synchronized to carry me to my desired experience. I went to Ceviche's for the first time with my friends Grant and Laura. I'm not a fan of ceviche dishes in general, but was willing to try their other food offerings. We ordered the guacamole and chips as an appetizer, which was pretty basic. However, I did notice that they had 4 different kinds of guacamole on the menu, which peaked my interest. You could even order the guacamole platter, which let you choose three of the guacamoles asa appetizer. For the main course, Grant and I both ordered the Cubano sandwich with a side yucca frites and cilantro lime quinoa respectively. Laura ordered the beef empanadas. When our entrees arrived, they had actually given me yucca frites, instead of the quinoa. Instead of taking away the frites, they brought the side of quinoa and let me keep the frites. Although it was a simple mistake, I was glad to see that they handled the problem promptly and gave their customer the extra side at no cost. CUSTOMER SERVICE IS SUPER IMPORTANT PEOPLE. Our waiter was very attentive and checked in on us often, even though it was a busy Sunday lunch hour. The Cubano sandwich was AMAZING! The pork was perfectly cooked and tender! Their homemade pickles were sweet and tangy. I highly recommend this entrée! The yucca frites were also good. The cilantro lime quinoa was served cold, which I honestly enjoyed because it complimented the fresh cilantro and cool lime flavors. Overall, an excellent meal! Now to save the best for last in my book....they have GREAT sweet tea. Being from the South, I consider myself a sweet tea connoisseur! Not all sweet teas are made a like-- trust me! They can be too sweet, not sweet enough, fruity, brewed too long, the sugar burned in the brewing process...so many different factors! Ceviche's sweet tea was perfect! It was light and sweet with a slight hint of a fruit or floral flavor! I was impressed. I would highly recommend Ceviche's on all fronts. Eighteen of us came to celebrate a friends birthday. Upon arrival we were greeted with a lovely "Hello" and a smile. The back area was set and ready for us to celebrate. The table was set and waters were at each setting. Our lovely server took our drink order. Every drink came out exactly as ordered. Then we ordered appetizers and our lunch. The food was served fast and hot. AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS. We then had an added surprise. Churro donuts were served for dessert, compliments of the owner. Our server was the very best. I visited this place with a good friend of mine to get a little snack and beverage and man was it tasty! Sam is an excellent chef that puts out tons of creative tasty meals. I have lived in Chile, Argentina and Panama so I am familiar the local food I ordered - shrimp ceviche: smaller than medium size shrimp, preblanched or defrozen shrimp (too hard for ceviche), butterflied to make them look larger - beef empanadas: prebaked than heated at microwave (outside cold, inside steaming), inside is half beef / half potatoes, no seasoning (at least, it should contain cumin), too thick dough (looks like made from preprepared pizza dough) Wrightsville Beach is too sophisticated for this food; they should teach or get rid of cook. They serve typical bar alcohol: no draft beers or national South American drinks like, Pisco Sour, Caiprinha, seco (Panama's most famous drink). read more

This is one of my favorite restaurants we've eaten at during this trip. There is a great atmosphere and quick service. I ordered a steak dish that came on coconut rice and it was absolutely delicious. For desert we had a chocolate and banana coffee cake which pretty good. We had a party of 4 and were able to sit down immediately. It's a small space, but there's plenty of seating. Our food was great. It was fresh, tasty and different. The booze prices are high ($4 for a Pacifico and $13 for a shot of regular tequila), but the food prices are fair. The only real criticisms I have are that our waitress wasn't unable to recall prices of items when they aren't listed on the menu and an extra basket of tortilla chips is 50 cents (I know this isn't a lot, but it's odd when there aren't any other restaurants I know of that also charge for extra chips.) read more

Horrible experience this trip. I've been here before and while the service has been spotty, the food has always been amazing and the wait has not been long. However, at this visit everything was off from the beginning. The hostess was wearing what I can only describe as half a shirt which I found very offensive. Basically you could see all her breasts except her nipples (barely). I was shocked to say the least. The waitress was spacey (at one point she started talking to the girl at the table next to us even though she was in the middle of answering a question about the menu to my friend - so rude!), and slow in getting our waters refilled, switched drinks on my friends (they both ordered sweet tea but one ordered it sweet and one half-half and this was after they had both drank out of their glasses so what if one had been sick? gross!). She never told us that they were a cook short so there would be a wait on the food - that is until 45 minutes had passed and we did not have our food. The only food that came out was my friend's guacamole with chips and she ordered that as her main meal as she was not that hungry. As we were so hungry we started eating her food. Finally, I asked the waitress for another order of guacamole with chips because we were starving and it seemed like that was the only dish that they could bring out quickly and also I felt bad that we ate my friend's food. They brought it out quickly but the avocado was so chunky it was like the avocado was cut in half and put on a plate. It was avocado not guacamole. Then we finally got our fried calamari appetizer and it was cold and mushy. We pointed this out and they took it away to fix it so for another 15 minutes we did not have any food. At this point it was an hour after we ordered. Finally, our food came it and thankfully it was good and warm but by that point I think we would have eaten anything. When we complained about our experience the waitress just kept mumbling and didn't know what to do. Finally the manager came to talk to us and *literally* shrugged her shoulders and said, "it's just one of those days!" We had to persuade her to give our appetizers for free. At the end it took forever for them to fix our bills to take the apps off and meanwhile we were late to go somewhere else so I just started getting up and putting on my jacket. Finally the waitress came out all flustered and then she knocked over a glass which broke on the floor. The manager looked annoyed and I was like, "well that was your waitress and not us!" Finally, we got the hell out of that dysfunctional restaurant...! A miserable experience to say the least. Mind you we also drove all the way from Raleigh and going to the beach is just an excuse for us to eat at this restaurant. I'm not sure we will make that mistake again. read more

I could not believe how delicious everything was! if you love ceviche and south/central american foods, this place is for you. Okay I had no issues with the taste of the food. I had the micro and my wife had the Cameron's. They were both good. We got the small potion and I mean small . They were served in a small ramekin. You know the small little Containers they serve ketchup in. We got guacamole app and the gauc was also Served in a ramekin. My daughter also are and she got a regular entree. Saturday evening, we decided to do a progressive dinner at using some of our stock piled The Save30 Store - Wilmington, NC certificates. We started at Ceviche's, being prepared for a wait, as the place is always super busy because of their outstanding food and fun atmosphere. When we arrived, we checked in at the hostess stand and said that we'd like to try for a seat at the bar. Although we had not asked about the wait time, we were told that that would probably be the quickest way to get a seat. As we walked into the bar area, we lucked out and two people stood up from a two top. We asked a passing server if we could sit there and were told to "go ahead and grab it". Lucky us! A friend who arrived about ten minutes later said that they were told that the wait was going to be an hour and a half, so we felt very fortunate on our score. We specifically went to Ceviche's Saturday night because the bf doesn't like to go out on work nights and Sundays when we've had time to go, they do not serve their dinner menu which has the BLT Arepas. This dish is the top reason I return to Ceviche's. The BLT Arepa is a plate of three mini stacks of bacon jam, tomato, avocado, basil glaze, pea shoot, & cilantro oil, all stacked upon a crispy piece of flat fried "cornbread". It is an explosion of everything right and nothing wrong on my tastebuds. My bf chose the Ropa Vieja: braised flank steak in a spicy tomato pepper broth served over coconut rice with patacones, salsa fresca, & citrus onion slaw. Now, this is something I would have never ordered, because I typically won't order beef when out unless it is a steak or a burger. But holy Moses, it was fantastic! That braised flank steak was tender and moist, seasoned perfectly. The bf has cooked in several upscale restaurants and will seek out anything meaty from french dip sandwiches, Philly cheesesteaks, burgers, braised beef, or steak, to judge whether or not he thinks it is prepared properly AND tasty. He said that this braised flank steak was absolutely delicious. I have to say that it was some of the best beef I've put in my mouth. In addition, I am not a rice person at all, often asking it to be left off my plate, and the coconut rice was amazing. While I was disappointed to find that they had quit serving the coconut ale they once served, their mojito was a refreshing concoction of rum and lime I soon forgot about the beer I'd hoped to order. Service was friendly, personable, and upbeat. Both owners, Laura and Hunter stopped by to say hello and check on our satisfaction. Exceeded our expectations in every way. Fantastic service from the bar wait staff to the hostess to the server. Everything the server recommended was phenomenal and the attention was appreciated. Food was delicious. Every bite of 4 different types of guacamole, the special kid friendly homemade juice (which my 10 year old LOVED), the yucca chili cheese frites, the two entrees surf and turf and an amazing beef dish).
