We hired CFC six years ago to construct a large Trex deck and Trex waterfall steps leading up to our home. They completed the job and it looked lovely for a couple years. Sadly it began to fail (Facia board warping). We reached out to Trex because we were told their warranty is amazing, this was big selling point for us six years ago. CFC was also the Trex certified installer and leading importer of Trex material in our area. Fast forward to today. It's been a nightmare dealing with CFC. CFC shrugged off our worries and sent us to Trex to file a warranty. We sent in the warranty claim and Trex denied it stating that CFC installed the entire project WRONG! Trex sent pictures of their installation manual with directions of how CFC had installed the facia facing up, exposed to the elements and it is prone to warp, which is what ours started doing. CFC has been acquired by a new owner since our initial install. I'm hearing a few people are currently suing them for their shoddy work and the installer from CFC who came out to our home stated that they have had several call backs for this same problem, improper installation. Cameron, the new owner is combative and aggressive, continually expressing frustration that he is being held accountable for the past owners mistakes. As I told him, he chose to keep the name and claim he has been in business for 30 years (he personally has not), so he has inherited their mistakes. He is blaming Trex and stating they changed their manuals after their initial installation. This is one of those companies you have to call multiple times to get the work done. It took months of reaching out to get them to finish the work. When they left the job undone and I requested they return to complete the work agreed upon before settling the bill, Cameron threatened reaching out to an attorney and put a lien on my house if I didn't pay immediately. Shocking to say the least! He backed down and sent someone the next day to finish the job thankfully. Paying thousands of dollars six years ago for initial install and then six years later being stuck paying thousands more to fix the initial mistakes has been less than ideal. It's the typical blame others for what went wrong, make lots of promises of how you'll make it right and then complain and drag your feet about fulfilling those promises. As a consumer I'd avoid CFC and be cautious about hiring Trex Certified Installers. They are not all created equal.... read more

First, CFC built a nice fence - we are pleased with it. Just a cautionary statement to carefully read the contract (which I did) and note the clear statement that reads "CFC Decks & Fences will not be responsible for any damaged sprinklers or utilities". They are true to their word. During the course of tear-down and new post installation, the crew cut through a partially obscured exterior AC power supply conduit, requiring a $1,324 electrician visit. I had asked to speak with the owner, Cameron, in the hope of possibly splitting the electrician fee, but he did not respond. I suppose I understand since the contract is clear. We had CFC add an extra railing for us and could not be happier. We had another company install a new deck and we had asked them before the job was done to please add additional railing by the back door as we feared the drop off was too high. They agreed to come back out and measure and send us a bid, they never did send a bid and after 3 attempts at contacting them we gave up. CFC was in the neighborhood installing a new deck, and we reached out to see if they could help. They came, they measured, they were amazing. I HIGHLY recommend. read more

Started out great until it got to the TREX fence slat spacing. Positives: Great post placement, friendly sales and installation crew. They put up the fence quickly, and it looks great...from a distance. Negatives: You never want to hear a somebody from the fence installation team tell their coworker "you have to do a better job than that". I looked outside and I realized that the TREX slats where not evenly spaced and there were a lot that were crooked. I assumed since they were installing a 17 thousand dollar fence they would use a level and try and make the slats look as plumb as possible. To their credit they came out 2 other times to try and fix the issues. Eventually they refused to come back out and sent the final bill. There is one panel left in the front of the house I am unhappy with and they wont fix it, instead I get emails with installation diagrams showing me I'm wrong for wanting it fixed. At the end of the day it's a nice fence. If you are getting a fence with them make sure you are out there while they are spacing the slats, or lower your expectations drastically. read more

These are great craftsmen, which you just don't see anymore. We replaced a 30 year old cedar deck, which I had personally maintained with regular stain and maintenance. I was happy with the cedar deck, but my wife wanted an upgrade. Happy wife, happy life. Now that the new deck is in, I am happier than she is. What an upgrade to the house. I work from home and therefore I found myself wondering past the window frequently. Seeing the guys working explained why the finish installation was so good. Incredibly high attention to detail. I watched the two of them sight the level of every support beam. The finishing touches were better than I could have done, and I have a very high attention to detail. And they found a rotted support that I had no idea was there. Replacing our vinyl fences is next. read more

We just had our deck installed this week. CFC has been the best company to work with. We have been doing some home improvement things and have had nothing but nightmares. They were on time everyday, the installers took pride in there work. The deck took a few days to install. We are so happy we choose them. I can't say enough great things about them. read more

It's unfortunate to give a poor review, especially when they had so many opportunities to make my customer experience good. I will not refer them to anyone. I commissioned CFC Fences on a $6,000 fence job and I hate to say it, but typical contractors. They don't care about customer service or practical reasoning. On at least 3 days they no call/no showed. When I called David to ask the status of his crew he assured me they would be there the following day (they never showed again)... David refused to give me the managements name when I asked to speak to his boss. When I did speak to his boss, which is the general manager and one of the owners, Scott he didn't care. Upon getting my invoice, I noticed multiple items on the bill that I never received. I also expressed how unhappy I was with the job NOT getting done in the time they said it would and how it threw every job afterwards off by multiple working days... COSTING ME MORE MONEY. I proposed a fair solution (5% discount, $290 bucks, seems far for not showing up 3 different times) and Scott refused. Complaining about thin margins. I can understand margins and the need to make a profit, but I do not understand in a business and industry that is made up of quality of work, word of mouth, and referrals, that he would not even entertain the idea of making a customer experience a good one. The job took longer and I was billed for items I never received. I recommend looking elsewhere. read more

So flakey and keep pushing us back! They said they'd come install our fence the middle of April, then pushed it to today (April 30th). Showed up and installed 4 posts (which are too tall so they'll have to cut them down still) then they left and said they were going to another job then would come back, but it's more 4:30 and no one has shown back up. Called them and they're not really planning on coming back out today. I'm so irritated at how flakey these guys are. I definitely would not recommend. read more

Absolutely the worst company to work with. A one week project turned into 7 weeks of hell. Staff had constant excuses. They even installed the fence backwards from what we contracted and then wouldn't adjust price or fix. Owners brother came out and explained they had already lost too much money on the project. This is my first review on Yelp. I love reviews and I weigh them heavily when I am looking to purchase something or eat out. Sadly, I ignored the poor reviews I read here about CFC. Go elsewhere to get your fence! CFC broke 3 sprinkler lines and refused to repair them. Saying it's not their fault to replace sprinklers when homeowner is requesting a fence to be installed near sprinkler lines. When we hired our new driveway to be poured, that cement company, without question replaced sprinklers that they broke in the process. You would think a big company like CFC would do the same. But nope, they will not! Somehow it's our fault. They are over scheduled and take on too much work and will delay your project because they bite off more than they can chew. They came a day late to install the posts and then were supposed to come back 3-4 days later. But really they came back 8 days later to finnish installation! When you spend $6000 on a fence, I expect much better customer service! Such a joke! read more

I have both a fence and a deck from CFC. The Trex product looks so nice that I have the best fence in the neighborhood. I suggest the Woodland Brown color because it really sets it off from the white vinyl in the neighborhood. The company is great to work with and their employees really know their stuff. In less than 3 years, I have a rotten post on my new cedar fence. CFC offers a 5 year warranty on their construction and installation so I contacted them to let them know. They were very quick to dismiss my claim, blaming conditions out of their control. I understand why they don't cover wood in the warranty, so I was willing to pay for the materials myself, but I needed their help to repair the fence. It would be easy for their crew, but very hard for me an my husband to do ourselves. I explained that there are no sprinklers near this area and no excess moisture other than the natural moisture in dirt. The reason the post rotted is because the concrete around the post was poured 9 inches below the top of the sidewalk. They poured it too low and then pushed dirt and bark back over it with no waterproofing. We had no idea it was like this. The other nearby posts had concrete poured closer to the bottom of the sidewalk level (about 4 inches) so those posts were fine. I just had this one that I needed help with. It wouldn't even have costed them anything since I was willing to cover the materials. I just needed them to come for an hour or so and help me with the repair. They refused though, even though it was a small effort on their part. The General Manager says this was installed to spec, and this is the depth that they pour concrete posts in all the time. He explained that if they helped me with this, it would snowball into a situation where they couldn't do wood fences anymore because people would make too many claims. Well, if you can't install a fence right, that may be true. Usually offering excellent service and standing by your warranty would snowball into raving fans and more people buying expensive fences. I'm now very angry that we had to fix this ourselves after paying CFC over $12k. You'd think that much money would be worth an hour of their time doing a small repair to make sure the product they provided lasted throughout their 5 year warranty period. So know before you buy from CFC that they always pour their wood fence posts 4 to 8 inches down and they don't make any effort to waterproof it. They just bury it and hope for the best. They won't stand behind their warranty, and you'll be stuck repairing rotted posts yourself regardless of how much you paid. It's too bad really. There are a lot of old fences in my neighborhood. I could've been a raving fan who told everyone who needs a fence to go here. I do not have enough confidence in this company to do that now. read more

3/4 of our fence is BEAUTIFUL and very well built. There are serious issues, though, that CFC refuses to address. The height of the fence was not supposed to exceed 6 ft. It is 6 feet 2 inches. I never saw anyone measure as they cut the posts (I personally love the look of the tall fence because it offers privacy to our swim spa, so as long as the city doesn't measure it I have NO PROBLEM with that.) One section is 6 ft 4 inches high. The construction team went up a pile of gravel so once we even out that pile it will be closer to 6 ft 6!!) the corner of that fence looks very odd and out of place. CFC claims that they followed the natural grade and are not responsible to fix it) Edmond, who never came out to see it even claims that I asked Victor to make the fence that high!!) Oi!! They tore out a 10 foot section of sprinkler line that they do not claim any responsibility for fixing. (Victor and his team did fix it while he was working at our project but his supervisors were angry that he did) Steve was our salesman (from other reviews it sounds like Tim would have been better) Our construction team was very nice and extremely hardworking. Elton called off, we had Victor and Manuel and a few other competent workers. Victor was very open to making a few changes that came up during the install. He raised the lattice work to provide more privacy from 18 inches to 12 inches. He also authorized a change to our gates (because the new type was much easier to build) We needed a fence built due to installing an Arctic Spa swim spa. The difference between these two companies' time line and customer service was shocking. On time delivery Arctic Spa A+ CFC D- Communication. Arctic Spa A+ CFC D- Quality work. Arctic Spa A+. CFC B+ Customer satisfaction Arctic Spa A + CFC D- During both installs there were issues that arose requiring communication between us the consumer and the company. (Any project has expected issues come up that require a simple fix) Responsiveness. Arctic Spa. A+. CFC F CFC now claims that they gave me a checklist to get ready for install. They also claim that they did a final walk through with me (THEY DID NOT) I was asked to sign as they left, but no one ever asked me to walk around and look at anything. (It was raining) The next day I found several concerning issues, nails poking out, boards not nailed in, one section was REALLY tall and one section along the alley was not level. I texted Steve and asked him to come by. When he came he was visibly annoyed and even yelled at me that they aren't responsible for our sprinklers and he said that he was told I wanted the fence higher (this is a frustrating allegation because 3/4 of the fence was already installed before I ever stepped foot outside to talk to Victor) I showed him that I wanted the bottom of the lattice raised but not the fence itself. (I told him I didn't want the whole fence changed just the obvious corner that was sticking out like a sore thumb) Steve was angry that changes had been made to the design and he was angry to see that Victor had repaired the sprinkler. When he raised his voice at me, I asked him to leave. The next day they did come out and clip nails and nailed in one board that had slipped and fallen. Overall I can not recommend this company. They do not stand behind their work. They blame and accuse rather than find a solution. I have paid in full for a fence that is well built, for the most part, but as I drive in my alleyway that ONE SECTION yells at me "I look WEIRD!!" read more

We put our 50% deposit ($6,700) down on May 22 for our deck. We were told they would start on June 15. They never showed or called. We called and the scheduler told us we were "on her list" of people to call and that our start date had been pushed back a week. They no showed 3 more times after that, 2 of those times without calling to let us know the plan. Finally we canceled the contract. They kept promising they would "be there in the morning", but with so many no shows we found it hard to trust their word. They wanted to charge us a 10% fee but we called American Express and had the charge reversed instead. After that CFC actually refunded our full deposit, so we canceled the charge back with AMEX. This company really needs to work on their communication and customer service. I can't comment on the quality of the work because they never started. read more

CFC was 6 weeks out from the time we signed the contract, but we are so glad we waited for them! Beautiful fence, professional team, and good communication. The fence is highest quality and looks amazing (our other neighbors did a Trex fence that looks cheap and flimsy compared to the beautifully engineered Trex fence by CFC!) The 4 stars is only because we have dogs and we didn't know there would be three days between posting and finishing the fence until the day the old fence came down, but that was only a minor inconvenience. We purchased an additional door through them, it has large gaps on both sides and the bottom, they refused to do anything at all to help us remedy this. I had my deck completely replaced by CFC fences and decks. I paid over $30,000 in November 2017. My railing began to rust after less than 30 days later. I have tried to speak with Scott Ashcroft, on numerous occasions, but he has not responded to my phone calls and repeated emails with any solution. I am afraid will have to take legal action to enforce my rights. If you are looking for a firm that believes in customer service or responsiveness to customers....you need to keep looking. read more

We had CFC build us a fence on one side of our property. It was a disaster once we gave them a 50% deposit. They took months before I could get a call back just to get on the schedule. They didn't string a line. When the fence was done, it looked like a roller coaster because it followed the ground and was not strait at all. They fixed it, but were very reluctant because of their profit margins. Now, I find out that they busted all of my sprinkler lines along the fence line and their response is,"that totally normal, we break sprinkler lines all of the time. My fence gate was improperly installed causing the whole thing to severely drag against the concrete during the gate's operation. It took me a month of calling and emailing CFC until they finally sent a crew to have the problem (partially) addressed. Not very satisfied. I highly recommend not paying them the 2nd half of the bill until at least a month after the work was done in case issues appear like they did on a lot of my neighbors. read more

Worst company I have ever dealt with. They require 50% of the project cost up front. Project contracted for an 8 ft trex fence, they installed 6ft posts. After waiting 1 month for the wrong fence they said it would be another 6-8weeks to get the correct one. Said they would come and remove the wrong posts and never showed. read more

I Had high hopes for this company until they performed a sloppy job on our fence. First off, I had my own landscapers working on another project in the yard and thank goodness because they were able to point things out to me that I would have never been able to see. The main thing they pointed out was that the workers placed a post with concrete and damaged one of our sprinkler lines after my landscaper had warned them not to place it in that spot. That damage cost 350 dollars. I sent that invoice to CFC and they said "our contract says we're not responsible for sprinklers, but here's 50 bucks for your grievance". 50 bucks off of a 8000 dollar fence that was split between me and my neighbor. That's like a dollar off a 16 dollar meal at a nice restaurant but they spilled your drink on you. It's just sad that they'd rather play politics than cater to the customer. We will be using another company for the rest of the fence which is a loss of potentially 10 grand to them. They also said our company won't go out of business because you choose someone else. What the hell? Seriously who says that? These guys need training and they will overcharge you for sloppy work. Also stay on the lookout for nails poking out and cracked posts. "It's just the wood the lumber yard gives us". Why aren't they inspecting the wood they're using ? Also no one comes out to do a quality review. My landscapers and I were the quality review so beware. This company honestly sucks. Use someone else for your fence needs. read more
