I'm devastated. I went to my neighborhood nail salon to spruce up my nails for my birthday. As a walk-in during the pandemic I learned its best to schedule an appointment. Once I returned at my scheduled time, I originally wanted shellac on my natural nails but since I broke 2 of my nails, I would need to add a tip and Kim encouraged I do dip. I'm used to doing dip and it takes a lot of time and layers. Ultimately, I felt rushed with my nails. By the time I returned home, my nails looked like I needed to go to the nail salon to get them done - not like I just got them done. The worst part is I was able to PEEL the "dip" off. I've NEVER been able to peel my dip off ever. (That's like peeling plastic/glue/acrylic off your nail). Perhaps I was charged for dip and it was really shellac ($62), but I just know, I'm utterly devastated with my results. read more

I came to this nail salon after work, as it is 3 min from my job. They had me waiting for 25 minutes just to tell me to "pick a color", and then wait an additional 20. I was only coming for Gel manicure. Now I did see some customers, but not enough to consider them busy that they couldn't attend me. Also a customer came in before me got attended before me, and they had NO APPOINTMENT!!! So your meaning to tell me that just as I didn't have an appointment so did the other customer. For my pedicure I don't remember the ladies name but she took care of me and did a great job. The only reason why I didn't give them a full five stars was because when getting the pedicure the lady pulls off my skin from a previous blister I had and left it very raw. I went there yesterday to get a pedicure and a full set and I can honestly say I will not be back. I am not the kind of person that complains about services, or food as I know that being a service worker can be tough and isn't always the most pleasant when it comes to experiences with customers. My pedicure came out pretty nice but after waiting for about 50 minutes none of my toes were dry. My acrylic full set came out incredibly uneven and looked thick and blocky. When my best friend (who was paying for my service as a birthday present) saw them she told me if I didn't like them that I should speak up and proceeded to ask one of the nail techs if I could have the acrylic set removed. The nail tech who had done my acrylic nails noticed and stopped working on her current client, attempted to say that it was because of the color that I picked. When I told her that I didn't like them her face changed completely, and she grabbed the clipper and aggressively chopped them off and had my soak my fingers. I was waiting for about 15 minutes and when I asked if I could removed my hands she dismissively responded to wait. While my friend paid for the pedicure (which had been done by another nail tech), Lilly (I think was the name of the one who did my acrylics) told me that I was not allowed back and that now that she knew me she wouldn't do my nails. I took my hand out of the acetone and proceeded to grab my stuff and leave with acrylic blotches still attached to my names. The whole time my voice was calm and apologetic because I felt bad that I did not like the nails but I believe it offended her because she was very rude afterwards. I've attached pictures of the nails once they were done and after they were "removed". Needless to say I have no desire to get my nails done there again and I would advise that anyone who goes chooses their nail tech based on a recommendation and not first availability read more

We made appointments for 12:30 and we were kept waiting for almost an hour. We were not walking out until 2 1/2 hours later. The nail technician that did my dipping was horrible. I have wounds on six of my fingers from the drill. I complained each time she hurt me, but it did nothing to make her more careful. I asked for my nails to be short and squared off. My nails are all different shapes. The dipping was done very poorly. The sides on some nails did not get any dipping powder on them, so the technician filed the nails off. The end product is lumpy and uneven. My daughter was having her acrylic nails done. They charged $50 because they had to do "extra" work (I could not see that they did anything differently). She also has wounds on her fingers. They used shellac polish on her, which we did not ask for. Do yourself and your fingers a favor. Go someplace else. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I would, but I'm forced to give 1 star to write a review. I was referred to come here by my coworker who recommended this place. The first time in, everyone was nice and I was sent home with a decent job on my nails done by Kim. (Last chair to the left before you hit the pedicure stations). (It wasn't the greatest). I went about my way only to find my nails lifting less than a week after leaving here. I went back and "Kim" with an attitude fixed my nails and sent me on my way. I was less than happy but I went on, only to find that 3 other nails were lifting. I decided to give this place one more go and try a different service. I was sent to "Kim" again, and she went to work. Long story short she cut my cuticle to the point of it being a pool of blood around my nail bed as well as my nail. That was it at that point I was done and she STILL PROCEEDED TO CHARGE ME $55.00. Didn't offer to take a percentage off or even try that hard to fix it. Kim just places this SCATHING liquid that made it burn. When it was time to go, I asked for the managers information in which she didn't provide, just a card with the stores number as well as the managers name Ethan. Nobody knew where he was or how to contact him. Smh. Kim was very rude an snatched my card from me when it was time to me and threw my receipt at me. I am pissed. You would think a nice place in River Oaks would have this information in case clients would like to get in touch with someone. I resorted to tell Yelp in hopes that Mr. Ethan who is the manager will see this since none of his staff seems to know how to get in touch with him. Okay! Whoa! In my previous review i said its not the best but its not the worst. My experience also made me ask myself, "how many times have I been overcharged?" After they tell you the total price, LOOK AT THE PRICE SHEET AND ADD IT UP YOURSELF!!! I went on Saturday and just got a reg mani/pedi nothing special so it was fine. My friend however, got totally robbed! She was paying and I realized wow, $100? but didn't seem like she did much. I asked them to break down the price for me. It was: $19 eyebrow and lip wax $28 pedicure $5 french polish $25 refill $23 shellac french polish the problem is...1. if she did the waxes separately, they would only equal to $18 (eyebrow $10, lip $8) but it is advertised as if you do both its $16. She got over charged $3 there. I speak fluent Vietnamese, which they did not know. I overheard them arguing if they should just tell her that's the price they always charge regardless of what it on their price list and advertised. The other one said they should not do that because its printed and its not right. Although, I do agree with the fact that prices can be changed without notice. However, it seemed very dishonest that they were arguing about the ETHICS of this situation. Next pricing sham is the french polishes were charged differently. One charged her an extra $5 and the other charged her $20 for shellac and $3 for french (not to mention $23 for just the polish when she got a refill with the service is so ridiculous, but that's at their discretion. Maybe they should print that its like paying for a full manicure if you want shellac polish so people don't get sticker shock). I asked why are they different prices for french. They looked at each other then argued again. So my friend has been over charged by $5 so far. Anyway, I was shocked that they had no remorse that they had swiped her card for the wrong amount and got caught. I looked at the short bob haired one and asked if she can cancel it so they can swipe it for the correct amount, her answer to me was, "Well I only charged her $3 for making the shellac french" WHICH WAS THE CORRECT AMOUNT ON THE PRICE LIST. I was still trying to be very nice at this point so in my head, I thought. WOW! THANK YOU FOR BEING HONEST ABOUT THAT PART! Her reaction was ridiculous. It was like...Well, *shrug*. Then the other one said, "Okay fine, take it out of my tip then". My friend was nice enough to give them $16 ($8/each) after all that. I totally would not have. HER SHELLAC CHIPPED THE NEXT DAY! DON'T BOTHER MAKING AN APPOINTMENT, JUST WALK-IN. We made the appointments for 11am. Didn't get worked on till 1130am. On top of that, they didn't have enough people but they still took the customers and the appointments. They put me into the pedi-soak but I could hear them asking each other and talking to each other like, "OH S***, we don't have anyone to do it but they need mani and pedi". I kept seeing them put more people in pedi chairs though. It was like putting us in those chairs and soaking so we wouldn't leave. DIRTY DIRTY DIRTY- I didn't want to put them on blast last review even though I did mention their armrest bar was a bit greasy. That was on a weekday, so I can't imagine how bad it is on a weekend. My mom is also in the nail business so I kind of know the steps and signs. They have a disposable bag that goes over their pedi soak but I noticed they rinse it down but don't run it with antiseptic tabs after you're done. The pipes can carry diseases and bacteria if you do not do this step. When she was doing my friend's refill, I heard her say to another tech, "is this towel clean or dirty?" I think they should know. Great service and quality work! I did a walk-in and though they were busy, I was helped right away. Everyone I encountered was very nice and efficient. The salon itself is clean and the selection of nail colors will not disappoint. I got shellac + the classic pedicure for $60. Confession: 1st time getting shellac, so not sure how long it usually takes but total nail + pedicure took ~1.5 hours. I can't complain because my nails looked/still look awesome and the pedicure was great. The lady actually picked out colors for me for a wedding and I loved it. My manicure included a wax treatment scrub in a disposable bag, which I've never had but loved. My nails and hands felt great after. Overall, experience was relaxing and worth the price. Best part: they have a stamp card so if you really like getting your nails/feet done and/or like sticking to one spot - this place can be for you because after 9 appointments, you get a free pedicure! read more

This is a very classy nail spa that really pays attention to detail. Their pedi chairs are new, top notch and very relaxing (and in good working order, so their massagers are fantastic). They use disposable plastic bags to cover their foot basins which ensures every client has a very clean experience. The technicians are very capable and I have been incredibly happy with all of my manicures, fills and pedicures. One of the things I really love is that their nail polish selection is new, has fashionable, current colors and no old, gunky bottles to choose from. Old nail polish at many salons is the norm, so this is not something I take for granted. Music is very nice and relaxing, and they have a big screen TV that they have on, but with no sound. You can get your nails and feet done at the same time if you need to save time, but sometimes it's great to get those separately, so you can really enjoy a vigorous back massage while you're getting your pedicure (they have you turn that off if doing your nails so they don't screw up which is understandable). This place is elegant and clean and everyone is very friendly. Prices are the going rate here in this area...not the cheapest, but not outrageously expensive. Just right and worth every penny for the quality experience you get. They take walk ins, but are hugely grateful when you give them the courtesy of a call prior to coming so you don't have to wait. I'm newer to Houston, and was looking for a nail salon that I could depend on. I tried a few others in the area before I went to Chanails, and I'm glad I finally found a nail salon that works for me. First of all, they are by far the friendliest group of women I have met. The owners/conceptualizers are there during business hours and are very attentive to your needs. The nail technicians listen to what you're looking for and provide just that, also seeking feedback while they are doing your nails/pedi. The nail salon itself is super clean - they are constantly keeping up with any dust or debris that occurs when they do your nails. The equipment is new and well-maintained. Also, they offer you water, coffee, tea, or other beverages while you wait. I have not had any issues getting an appointment or walking in - the most I've waited is 20 minutes. But, it is worth the wait because you know that they are going to give you what you ask for. They are more inclined to tell you to call in the next time if you walk in, however. read more

No really y'all ... remember that comment about me being picky? I did not have to ask her to re-file a single nail to my liking because she is THAT meticulous. Superb. I went yesterday to have a much needed mani/pedi for my birthday. The salon is clean and the customer service was supurb. After procrastinating about it for months, I decided to finally try gel nails. I'm so disappointed. It looks like I painted my nails myself. The coat is very uneven and somewhat translucent in some spots. The pedicure was the best I've had in quite some time despite the nail technician's light touch. The polish job is what is pretty poorly done. I'm not sure if they utilize the same practices of cheap nail salons by thinning or stretching the life of the nail polish or not. Maybe if I would have known to ask for a few more coats or maybe brought my own nail polish, it would have been a better outcome. Anyway, if I return it will only be for the pedicure. read more

Since moving to the Galleria area, I have been trying to find a relaxed nail salon with ample colors to choose from that will give me a basic pedicure. It seems like everywhere I go around here, I can't find that. Everything is expensive and you can't view the nail polish bottles (they give you a color wheel to choose off of). Well I think I finally found my basic pedicure place. I really enjoyed being able to view all of the nail polishes and I liked that they had a lot of employees working. My pedicure was $30 which I am ok with. The massage was great, English was well spoken, and my toes look wonderful. The second time coming here was my last time, I got an eyebrow wax and a pedicure paid about 40-45 dollars something like that, I hand over my card to the woman that did my pedicure she goes to the card machine (she looks confused) she swiped my card no receipt prints, she swiped TWO MORE time no receipt before the fourth time she realizes that the card machine ran out of receipt paper. I sign my receipt then my gut told me to check my bank account before I leave and sure enough she had charged me 3 times I talked to who I think is the owner she had the nerve to give me a hard time about giving me 2 refunds ! I was forced to call my bank speak to 2 different representatives to prove that she charged me 3 times before she finally returned the money that was rightfully owed to me to my card.
