However, returning to this city on vacation as a sentimental ex-Winnipegger, I hung out at this mall for seven hours. The mall person returned. It's still in me. I hadn't been to this mall since 2016, so it was worth the visit. It's a decent mall. It's a medium-sized one in that there's only one floor. Hudson's Bay (it has a Zellers!), London Drugs, Walmart, and Dollarama are your anchor stores. In 2016, I spent a lot of time and did a lot of damage at London Drugs. On this visit to the mall, I didn't visit any of these stores. I wanted to check out the other stores that I had missed. SilverCity, Hudson's Bay, Purdy's Chocolates, and Indigo were stores that I recognized. They have endured the test of time. I like them a lot. Everything else was new. I could picture the old HMV and Branigan's restaurant when you first enter mall entrance 3 and hit the food court. They are gone. The food court is still excellent. I had a late lunch at Koya Japan and my meal was excellent. I visited a bunch of stores that I had never been to at this mall. Miniso. SoftMoc. Sephora. Claire's. They are all cool stores that I enjoyed visiting and making some purchases. There is a lot of parking at this mall. It may get nuts during Boxing Day or week or month. I have never had any issues parking at this mall. This mall has an Earl's restaurant. I last dined there in 2016 and loved it. There's also Sushi Gozen by London Drugs that I'd like to try someday. I recently met up with a couple of friends here. We caught up over some Timmy's drinks and snacks. It was nice and a memorable, happy experience. It's a decent mall. I met up with a couple of friends for an hour. After that, I hung out at this mall some more. I spent a total of seven hours here. Some of that time was spent fetching a late lunch at Koya Japan. The food court at St. Vital Mall is still great. Although most of the vendors have changed since I last was here back in 2011 (yikes!), I felt like teriyaki. Koya Japan felt right. The all-male staff were nice and competent. I got the beef and chicken udon stir fry. I also ordered a bottle of Diet Pepsi. I paid with a credit card. Done! I watched two men make my meal in front of me. One worked on cooking the proteins. The other did the noodles. When the proteins were done, the man cooked the veggies. Then, everything came together. They were generous with the teriyaki sauce. I thanked them both and headed to a available table to hang out. This meal was delicious. The udon noodles were chewy and perfectly stir-fried. This place was generous with the chicken and beef. The morsels were yummy and juicy. The sauce was so good. I loved the veggies, especially the huge sliced mushrooms and bean sprouts. The Diet Pepsi was cold. It complemented my meal nicely. I couldn't tell you when I last hung out at a food court. It was enjoyable. There is free wifi throughout the mall, which allowed me to check my inbox and upload a few Yelp photos. This eatery was a good choice for a later lunch. I had worked up an appetite with all that shopping. This outlet has a food court. I felt the need to explore. A woman at Bourbon St Grill flagged me to try a morsel of mango chicken. It was excellent! It had decent mango flavour without being excessively sweet. I was now torn. I love Bourbon St Grill. I had my heart set on the bourbon chicken, which is my usual protein. The mango chicken was yummy. Ugh! I went with my heart. I let the nice woman know that the mango chicken was excellent, but I wanted the bourbon. She nodded. I got combo 2, which consists of a protein, two sides, and a carb base. My order was the following: - Noodles - Bourbon chicken - Corn - Green beans I also got a large fountain drink. I went with a Diet Coke. I paid with a credit card. I tapped and the transaction was done. I got my meal in a box. I thanked the woman and found a table in the food court to chow down. The beef brisket was tender and incredibly flavourful. It reminded me of how my mom made it, but without the turnips. This place took them out, which I appreciated! The noodles were thick and chewy. The broth was so good. I never had a disaster with the broth getting delivered to me. I also got these huge dumplings that were filled with pork goodness. Sadly, I don't see them on the menu anymore. However, if you get something similar, such as their wontons, you can't go wrong. They are so delicious and comforting. This place is generous with portions. I have also had their mooshi. We enjoyed the drinks we got (I got a chai drink and a tea drink on multiple occasions). My boyfriend wasn't a fan of the matcha. The food here is all very affordable and there's a variety of savoury and sweet places if you wanted to get dessert after your meal. The upper floor mainly has shops (the lower floor has a few shops too, such as a candy store and a souvenir shop). The shops on the other hand are a little pricey for me but they do offer tons of goods that feel very Canadian/Winnipeg. I suppose that it's kind of the norm at most outlet malls. Not all stores will give you heavily slashed prices on everything. I like that it's an indoor mall. You are protected from the elements when the temperature swings thirty degrees in either direction from zero. -30°C? You are safe from having your eyelashes freeze over. 30°C? It was what I had experienced while in the city. This mall was nicely air-conditioned and perfect to hibernate against hot, humid conditions. The mix of stores made me happy. Old Navy. GAP Factory. Winners. Claire's. Kernels - Baskin-Robbins. Skechers. Danier. Starbucks. Urban Treasures. Chatime. Lindt. I was perfectly content shopping at these places. Some are your regular businesses at any mall, such as Chatime and Starbucks. Winners has decent prices already. Old Navy, GAP Factory, and Lindt had deals that you'd expect from an outlet. The deals were fabulous. If you are a visitor, you can get a discount when you shop at various stores by dropping by Guest Services. The problem that I encountered was that they ask for ID. I dropped by to shop with a credit card and me. This woman at the counter would not accept photos of my driver's licence, both front and back, with my mugshot, on my phone. I didn't feel like grabbing my ID from the glove compartment of my rental vehicle and heading back to save maybe a couple of dollars on my great deals. Some stores are separate from the mall, but are still a part of it. Krispy Kreme is an example. I don't mind it because it has a drive-thru. There's also an IHOP, which is nice not doing a trip over the border to get your pancake fix. I spent my last full day in Winnipeg at this mall for a few hours. I enjoyed it. I used the washroom before I left. It was fancy and clean. There was plenty of parking. Each entrance is numbered, which is helpful. The location itself isn't very ideal, as the two major streets are high traffic, so getting here isn't exactly convenient. The mall bills itself as an outlet mall, but I honestly saw very few outlet prices. There were barely any sales or deals in all the places I went to. Definitely disappointing. The place is huge though, and the mall design is extremely open concept, plus the washrooms are really neat. That's about all the positives I can say unfortunately; Polo Park has better options in my opinion if you're looking for clothing.

The baristas in the Mottola grocery café were both quite friendly and conversational. Helped my friend choose what she wanted and their coffee is Lavazza and the way they make it is great. Be sure to try their mocha, which so far was the best out of everything there. The cinnamon and also pumpkin spice muffins are tasty, and not too sweet. The Mottola grocery also sells Bliss gourmet cookies which some are sugar-free, some are not. Got some lemon poppyseed cookies which make a nice little gift. I did also try the Japanese restaurant (Saburo), taking the kimchi chicken dish. It was good, mainly the fried chicken on top. Not too much extra batter or anything and the taste was excellent. I am used to the kimchi from Costco which is pungent, so this kimchi was not quite as good, but still overall would recommend, and the person I was with got interested in it and will probably order in the future. The owner of the market owns everything in this joint other than the Pilot coffee roaster cafe (Fools and Horses). I have not tried the Fools and Horses as the time I went to do so on game day (Sunday Jets game), they were closed.
