My 14 year old dog who had been declining in health was acting very differently one day, enough so to bring him into an emergency vet at night. I was met by Justin at the door for a quick assessment, as I couldn't go into the clinic because of covid regulations. Justin was very compassionate and understanding of my dog's situation, and I felt at ease as I watched them go back into the clinic. I went to sit in my car and wait for the update from inside. My phone rang and It was Dr. Birch on the other end, he said I needed to come inside to talk which I knew meant the worst. Dr. Birch explained to me what was going on inside the abdomen of my dog, how it was affecting his body, and that it was a terminal situation. He still laid out a gradient of options from taking him to a specialist at the U of M to putting him to sleep that night. I was very grateful for his honesty in offering up all the solutions he did. But we both agreed for a 14 year old dog in his situation putting him to sleep was the best possible outcome. I couldn't do it that night without the family saying good bye. The next day I called my normal vet to see if I could take him there for his final appointment, as he'd been going there for the last 7 years and I wanted them to be a part of it. They couldn't, or wouldn't, make time for me and my dog for at least 3 days. This was very disappointing to me. That day I came home from work and my dog had declined further, and I made the decision to bring him in overnight to have him put to sleep. At 10 PM, I was met by Justin again at the door as I carried my dog in. His genuine compassion to my dog again was apparent, but it was also extended towards me as he told me what the process would be. He then took my dog to the back to put a port in his leg for the shots. This was something different from when I've done this before. For me it meant my dog would only be stuck by 1 needle, not the 3 or 4 they actually use. When they came back, Justin put down the plushest fleece blanket on the table I'd ever seen. They then gave me all the alone time I wanted before Dr. Birch came in. Once again Dr. Birch was a true professional explaining to me what was about to happen, and how my dog would react. And he gently petted my dog the whole time to help ease him as I said good bye and he slipped into his sleep. Dr Birch left and they then gave me all the time I wanted alone to say good bye myself. One last time Justin came in offering his condolences and wrapped my dog in that huge soft blanket and took him away. I was offered time to sit in the room as long as I wanted, but all I had to do was simply walk out of the clinic alone. S M A E C thank you for your services, hours, and location. People don't bring their pets to you for the fun regular stuff, it's got to be a whole different world at your clinic from dusk to dawn. I appreciate that to the fullest. Justin and Dr. Birch, Thank You doesn't even start to cover the appreciation I have for you two! The whole experience I had was only 24 hours long. But the good memories I have of one of my worst times will forever be in my mind. Thank You, Rob and Braden

It seemed like he was having trouble breathing. They refused to let me come in with him. I told them I think my dog is dying and they seemed to have no compassion and basically said there wouldn't be anything they could do anyway. I can understand it might have been better to go somewhere that has 24-hour monitoring/hospitalization, but I didn't know that at the time. It was the complete lack of empathy and caring to explain that has me leaving this review. It's like they just wanted me to get off the phone. And our dog died the next morning. Rest in peace, Vinny

Then a lady, I'm guessing the salon manager comes to speak with me. This is after I watch her speak rudely to someone who wanted to make an appointment. Then she comes over to tell me about issues my dog has. Yes, I know she's very old. It was one thing after another. I never had issues when she was groomed in San Diego. I didn't need her to tell me not to come back, because we won't be back. This lady if she is the manager needs to take a class on how she speaks to people because her customer service is horrendous. I now understand the store yelp rating. It seems like it's definitely deserved.

They refused service because he did not have a PRINTED rabies certificate with a CLINIC NAME. They would not accept a perfectly legal, signed rabies certificate (see attached) I filled in by hand and signed. Assistant manager stated that any pet owner could illegally fill out a rabies certificate and that is their policy. They also require a clinic name on the form, even after I explained I was retired. This is disrespectful and unreasonable way to treat a licensed professional! Of course I can trim my dog's nails, but I prefer to have them done because it's easier on him. Their loss.
