    two plates of food
    Tyler L.

This is one of the many Uzbek restaurants that you can find in Rego Park. Compared to some of the other ones, this one is much smaller and more humble in decor. That does not mean the food is not good. My friend and I ordered some plov, samsa and several different kebabs and we were completely satisfied. The waitress there was very friendly too. I have eaten at most of the Uzbek places in this area and the only criticism about the food here I can give is that their plov was a little too oily. The menu is also more limited compared to other places, but they offer all of the staple Uzbek dishes here.

Great spot! The owner/manager was so kind the first time I went and recommended some amazing samsa made with meat and pumpkin, next time I went with friends and we got plov which was also fantastic

I like their food because it's simple, tasty, and comes out quickly. The Khong Rou Fan is comforting and flavorful, and the Niu Rou Mian is always a good choice when you want something warm and satisfying. The string beans were a nice light appetizer to start. It's kind of a semi-service place -- you order at the counter and clean up after yourself when you're done, so there's no need to leave a tip if you dine in. The cashier who took our order is always nice, friendly, and polite, which makes the experience pleasant. The place is also always clean, which I appreciate. Overall it's a good spot when you want a quick, easy meal without a long wait.

The good- plenty of meat in Lou Rou Fan, the texture of stinky tofu, the no tipping but bus your own tray business model. Friendliness of staff behind the ordering counter. The so-so: not enough fragrance in stinky tofu, the slightly soggy/oily pork chop, and lack of fragrance in Taiwanese sausage. The somewhat expensive price( our lunch costing $56 total). Will probably revisit another time to see how other dishes taste and see what price point it will result in.

My friends ordered the vegetable stir fry noodles and beef stir fry noodles. The noodle orders were good and huge portions (we all ended up packing some home). The meat inside the dumpling was flavorful. I prefer thinner skins but my friends really like them. The counter person was not the owner (I think maybe he was the son) -- very helpful and patient answering all the questions posed by my friends. I forgot to take photos of the food. Does not appear there is a server or tipping required. Ample sauces. Large menu. Noodles are actually hand pulled nr the counter I got the #2 boiled pork and leek dumplings. Rather costly at $6 for 8. After about 25 minutes I was still waiting. Staffer said it takes 10min to cook but they must have been busy. Signage is poor as it doesn't say Lao Bei Fang in English. Just says Northern Dumplings. My boiled dumplings were good. Very thick skinned. Pricing and long wait makes me ding this place.

This is Hong Kong style done right, and in Flushing you're getting the real thing at prices that genuinely rival what you'd pay in China. We lucked into a nice day and grabbed a seat outside. Service was fast and furious, which is exactly what you should expect and honestly want from a spot like this. You're not here for a leisurely dining experience, you're here to eat something delicious and get on with your day. My one gripe, and it applies to the whole surrounding area and not just Maxi's: there are basically no bathrooms to be found. Plan accordingly before you commit to a big bowl of soup. Cheap, tasty, authentic. Everything a Flushing noodle spot should be.

Came with some friends for lunch. We all got various combinations of the mixed plate and an order of fried calamari. The calamari was lightly breaded in a flaky batter that brought out the flavors of the squid. Cooked to perfection it was tender, not chewy. As for the mixed platters, we had lamb gyro and the souvlakis as well as the lemon potatoes and fries. The lemon potatoes were perfectly seasoned and had a nice tartness to each bite. The lamb gyro was tender. The chicken souvlaki being moist and flavorful is the barometer for the level of detail that goes into every plate served.
