    Kabobs
    Mike Z.

WOW! I am so glad my friend found this place based on a recommendation. These were among the best kabobs I have ever enjoyed, and I continue to think about them every day since. Rego Park has some wonderful restaurants, and this is definitely among the best. Do yourself a favor and go try them! The bread here was also distinguished. Must go back soon!

What a great spot! It was my first time in New York and I had just left the US Open and was on the lookout for something completely new to me and lucky for me I came across Marani, a kosher, Georgian restaurant. I know very little of kosher food and absolutely nothing about Georgian food so I knew I had to try it. The inside was simple but nicely adorned. The staff were very nice and diligent and the food but new, exciting, and delicious. I started with the Lula kebab which is composed of ground beef and lamb and comes with a few slices of raw, white onion and a read sauce which I thought was tomato but after looking at the menu, may actually be a cranberry sauce. I didn't like the sauce initially, but after not having it, I added it to every bite of kebab and onion. I continued with the Adjaruli which is a bread bowl filled with beef, mushrooms, tarragon, and a perfectly cooked egg. Break that beast and mix it all together! This was so much larger than I thought it would be and was very tasty and with flavors that were both familiar and completely foreign to me. The dessert I had wasn't too memorable but it was some sort of dough with nuts and chocolate in it, dusted, with powdered sugar. Not bad overall and again something which seemed familiar but was completely new to me. Overall, a great experience. If you want to try something new from the old country, come to Marani; I'm sure glad I did!

I had this place bookmarked, and judging from Yelp, it had great reviews. I had to check it out since I was in the area. Went with a friend of mine who was down, too. After we ate here, she said that this was one of the best Mediterranean foods that she has had. Plus, it's a bit different since this is Georgian cuisine. Both of us have never had it before. When you walk in, there's a lot of wood tones, which makes it feel like a ranch that serves you southern foods, and you're not really greeted by anyone. Someone whose there just seats you. It was quite empty at 1pm. But once it turned 2pm, it got quite busy inside for a Sunday afternoon. We asked about a few dishes after looking at the menu. Decided on the kebabs, and my friend got the sweet potato fries (which was huge and large portion size), and I got the buckwheat rice that comes mixed in with mushrooms and spinach. The server recommended the side that I got saying it's a great dish, and he was right. Also, we got the bread bowl called the Adjaruli, which was recommended too. I would like to go back to try their other dishes to share with a group.

Great date spot! I love Marani! It is an incredible vibe. The waitstaff is friendly and helpful. I enjoyed my time here immensely. I walked in with my husband for a date afternoon around 1:30 PM. Merely sitting inside listening to the light music and eating fresh meal was so relaxing for us. We ordered kabobs, specifically salmon and lamb. What stood out to me were the details: the sauce provided with the salmon with the raspberry vinaigrette, the grilled onion and fresh cilantro on the lamb, and the creamy sauce for the dolmades. The dolmades (grape leaves) were filling especially with beef inside. The borscht was flavorful and so tasty with dill. Another item that I enjoyed was my raspberry mojito. Wow, it was strong! We walked out so satisfied that we couldn't fit dessert. That will be for next time. I definitely recommend this spot. So good!

My girlfriends visited me from North Brooklyn to take me out after I have been bed ridden post major surgery. I suggested Marani since we all love Georgian food--and it was an absolutely spectacular experience. Marani always had outstanding food, and we were supremely delighted with the superb service and kindness of the staff. We loved our waiter, and were so grateful for the food suggestions, check-ins, accommodations, and the tower of mouthwatering khinkali that we devoured like lionesses. :) We laughed, ate, felt well taken care of, and for three hours I forgot that I have only one working foot. Thank you, Marani!

Kosher Georgian restaurant located near the Rego Park shopping complex. Restaurant is relatively big and service was good. Prices are high though for what you get. Unfortunately they no longer offer the cheese breads. The sampler starter is a must! It was very good especially the eggplant spread, followed by the spinach and lastly by the green bean one. The bread cost extra though but worth it! The bread is delicious, fresh, soft, and chewy! The portions for the entrees are large enough for two people. Our entrees of chichen tabaka and salmon were disappointing. I thought they were a bit bland. For the price of the salmon entree, there wasn't much salmon. I enjoyed the fries in the chicken dish though. Would get the eggplant spread again but would choose different entrees or stick with starters.

Came here with a semi-large group for my buddy's birthday. Everyone had a good time, the food was great, and the hospitality was on-point. Very few of the folks in the group had Georgian food before and my buddy Eric passes by this place sooo often, he thought it would be fun to pop in for his birthday. I'm glad we did. When told we were getting Georgian food, I thought we were going to a small hole-in-the-wall mom-pop place. Marani was anything but. It was fairly elegant and maybe fancier than I'm used to. That said, the staff treated everyone so well and were super accommodating. There's plenty of space in here if you wanna dine alone, with a friend, or even a medium sized group. We were 8-9. I thought some of the prices were a bit high, but given the decor of the place and the size of the portions, I later thought they were appropriate. I had a chicken and fries (Cornish Hen). Flavors were great and portion size was large. Another big plus was the fact that it's all kosher. One friend felt much more comfortable having something he might not have had it not been. Everything that came out of the kitchen looked great. If I were to return, I think I'd want to try some of the kebabs. They too looked amazing and were large in portion size. If you're interested in trying something different and find yourself in Rego Park, I'd for sure recommend Marani. Note that it's slightly fancy and the prices are not fast casual, but you do eat well and the folks are super nice.

I ate here for a late lunch on the weekend. The service we had was really good, I didn't catch her name but she was so nice. We ordered the : Marani sampler with bread (4.5/5) Borsch (3/5) Salmon kebab (4/5) And my partner ordered the adjurali. My favorite was the sampler with the fresh bread. I was hoping to order more breads or a vegetarian kachipuri but didn't see it in the menu so was a little bummed. Not the cheapest lunch spot but we did not go hungry! Overall a solid meal.

Food is 3/5 Service 5/5 Ambiance 4/5 Food was just mediocre, it's missing acidity and vibrancy. They try toning down the constant meat with marinara sauce but what these dishes need is lime or lemon, some fresh tomatoes, cilantro and parsley. Otherwise it's all meat and very filling. Only thing that was very good in my opinion was the bread.

Nice and cozy, family owned, Georgian restaurant in Rego Park, Queens. I came here by myself, so I can try Georgian food for the first time. The restaurant was a recommendation from my friends. I had their special Adjaruli as a hot appetizer, although it can be easily a main course considering their generous portion. As an entree I ordered their famous lamb shank with potatoes (they were a bit undercooked, but not a big deal), peppers, onions, dry apricots and prunes. For drink I had Georgian red dry wine Saperavi, a full body wine with a hint of red beries and casiss. They do not have too many options for desert (napoleon, walnut cigar and sorbetti). Service is fast and not too pushy. The lady that served me today did an amazing job (she even charged my phone). Restrooms are clean. Prices reasonable for the quantity you get. If I may suggest, it would be much better if the music in the restaurant would be Georgian. I think the whole experience would reach a higher level.

I still don't know anything about Georgian food, so can't say legit or not; but definitely something different without being too exotic/risky for timid adventurers. They no longer have outdoor dining, even though there (was) a dedicated box on the curbside, but indoors seem pretty packed on weeknights; including Tues-Thurs. (Was there last Wednesday and it was almost full by 7:30pm.) Not sure if they forgot, but no one checked our vaccine card upon entering. Now onto the food. Yes, the bread is as heavenly as everyone says it is. The right amount of chewiness, the right thinness, and very good dipping sauce/complimenting savory ingredients depending on what you order. Our table got the popular Adjaruli bread bowl, I think it's a classic dish to try for anyone. Can't go wrong with meat, minced mushrooms and sunny side egg. From the waitress recommendations, we added the potatoes w/mushrooms - this was basically thick cut potato chips topped w/mushrooms and onions. Can't go wrong with anything chips, but probably would've picked something else that is more adventurous or different. Last, we also shared the beef stew. The portions look moderate, but filled our table of 3 in a very satisfactory manner. Minus one for what I think is on the higher priced menu for everything, on par with Manhattan restaurants. Yes, everything is more expensive in this day and age but just a note.

Delicious, clean, upscale, well-priced, authentic. It's hard to find parking in this area. This place is special and a true eptiome of quality. It's Georgian (Caucasian) food. Waiters are good. Seems like they have live music some nights, and they have a bar area. Great place to go for a special occasion. Some of the flavors are very unique. Nothing was bland, might not be a spot for picky eaters.

Great food, service is always good. Definitely a little pricey especially with so many meat restaurants near but food is always good.

It is definitely a heavy dish, so definitely get some greens with this. The bread held the filling well. Chakpuli: You can taste the herbs (namely tarragon), though it is on the lighter side. It is more of soup consistency than stew as the liquid was watery. There are decent chunks of lamb, but also light in flavor. Not a fan of this dish. Overall, a little pricey for the portion size. He suggested this place in the West Village, but we couldn't get a table there at the time we wanted to go. Fortunately, I was able to find that they had another location in Midtown and we were able to get a table. I have never had Georgian food before and was excited to try it. From the second, we walked in our experience was excellent. The restaurant was very charming with a very chic feel. Our server was so gracious and helpful in explaining the menu. We tried several traditional dishes, and they were all out outstanding. The food was so flavorful. We had the eggplant rolls and the Adjaruli Khachapuri as an appetizer. Both were amazing! They left me wanting more. For the main course I had the Chanakhi (lamb stew). This dish was so delicious. The lamb was tender and the sauce was savoy, perfectly seasoned and had so much flavor. My daughter had the Shkmeruli (chicken with garlic sauce). This creamy garlic sauce was amazing. I need to figure out how to make it. My son had the Kupati (house made sausages). I can honestly saw these were some of the best sausages I've ever had. The flavor was so unique and delicious. My son's girlfriend, who is a vegan, had the cauliflower with walnut sauce. The cauliflower was roasted perfectly and the walnut sauce is like nothing I've ever had before. It was so creamy that it made me question whether or not it had dairy in it. Another hit. To finish it off, we had the Khinkali which are these huge soup dumplings with beef and pork filling. Our server told this traditionally they eat them at the end of a meal so we follow tradition. Fortunately, our server explained to us how to eat them by holding them upside down and taking a small bite and drinking the soup out. These were massive and more than I should've eaten after appetizers and a main course. Nevertheless, we enjoyed them thoroughly. I really enjoyed this restaurant and the experience. I felt like I experienced something new that I can't wait to come back to.

Unfortunately, we were a group of three, so we were seated a little awkwardly by the live music corner away from the rest of the dining room, though it didn't cause too many interruptions in our conversation. We were all intrigued by the Georgian lemonade option on the drink menu. They were more like flavored sodas. I had the cream, which tasted exactly like vanilla cream soda. I tried my friends' pear and tarragon, and would get the tarragon next time as it was nice and herbal to complement the cheesy heavy dishes to follow. We started with the beet salad with goat cheese, which came with a raspberry sauce. I sometimes find it off putting if the beet is too earthy and bitter, but the beets were done well, flavorful without being too strong. The salad was really refreshing and much needed to pair with our khachapuri, which we ordered with spinach and special smoked cheese. The presentation was fun, a little funny because the wait staff kept accidentally spinning the whole plate in their effort to mix everything in. I love cheese and bread, so this was a true highlight. For main, we had the megrhuli karcho, which was stewed beef in a walnut sauce served with Georgian grits cake. The beef was tender but honestly all of the starters stole the show and the walnut sauce wasn't that flavorful. I did like the gritty texture of the walnut sauce against slightly packed gritty texture of the grits cake, but my friend found it mushy and boring. If I go back, I would load up on the khachapuri and the salad.

First, we were pleased to see that the restaurant was nearly full early on a Sunday evening. Reservations recommended! Moreover, we were delighted to find out that the food remains both unique and extraordinarily tasty. We started with a salad which frankly looked pretty boring on the menu but turned out to be amazingly Georgian-seasoned! Then a cheese bread (Adjaruli) which was just as we remembered it. Cheesy, creamy and absolutely delicious. We then tried their Khinkali dumplings for the first time and loved them. Once again, wonderful seasoning. Our entree was the Chashushull which came with a tasty warm bread which came in handy to soak up the delicious sauce. Service was attentive and not overbearing. Seating comfortable, pricing somewhat above moderate. There remains lots to love about this restaurant!

This Georgian food in the West Village was such a great dinner. While they are famous for their…read more'mother khinkali' that blew up on TikTok, I enjoyed all of the dishes that I got there. Service is stellar and ambiance is great. The only thing was that it got loud super easily as the tables are a bit close together, so often times my friend and I had to yell to talk to each other. My friend and I got their beef khinkali, chicken with elarji, and adjika trio. Everything was amazing. I've never had khinkali before and our waitress taught my friend and I how to eat it. It was so fun, and like a different version of soup dumplings (which I love!). You definitely have to eat these right away to get the most soup out of them or else the filling absorbs the soup and the wrapper gets a bit hard. The adjika trio was a great way to sample different flavors of Georgian cuisine. And the chicken with elarji came with a cheesy cornmeal (something that I've also never had before) and a rich walnut sauce--both of which complimented the crispy chicken so well. Great time, amazing food, and good service!

But during the dinner rush, maybe a good idea since there isn't the most seating here. Very attentive and helpful service here! The servers were friendly and were on top of filling our water carafe. I appreciate that they explained each dish and had a bit of flourish to presenting each one. My group enjoyed the food a lot. If you're sharing, the Mother Khinkali and Acharuli are the way to go. The broth in the dumplings was flavorful and hearty! The grilled chicken (Chicken Mtsvadi) was moist and I enjoyed the plum sauce and pomegranate seed garnish on it. I only gave it a 4/5 because this didn't personally blow my mind, and that's a matter of personal tastes more than anything. But regardless, this was a great spot with no complaints here! I would definitely recommend this to anyone else who enjoys this type of cuisine.
