First time here. It has a cozy, neighborhood vibe. We happened in on trivia night but we were there just to try the beers. They had a good showing for folks playing trivia. They have a small parking lot and that day's food truck parks just outside. There is also street parking. Our beer tender answered our many questions and gave good recommendations. I always look for the dark beers. They had a doppelbock on tap so I tried that. The name was fun, Edna Kradoppelbock. My husband got the Polly Ollie Pale Ale. Both were solid, to style beers. We asked what our beer tender's favorite was and he mentioned a blackberry brut called Blackberry Impact. We got a 10oz to share and it had a subtle blackberry flavor, dry with the tiny bubbles associated with the brut style. We both really liked that one. We also did a taster of their Hatch chile amber ale. I love chile beers too. This one had all the wonderful green chile nose and just a hint of heat. This was a fun visit. read more

I've been to Chain Reaction a couple of times now and it's always a good experience! Most recently, my husband and I stopped here before going out to dinner on a Thursday night. The guy at the bar was super friendly and immediately said hello and asked what he could get us. I spotted the nitro coffee stout on the menu and was obviously sure from the start that that was going to be what I ordered. They had a good-sized menu with some great options so after looking closely, my husband ended up getting the pumpkin. Both beers were so delicious! I especially liked the coffee b/c I'm a sucker for coffee flavor + nitro - even more in the winter! There was also some kind of game night going on on Thursday which seemed fun! Went there on 4/25/21. There were 8 of us. Which is the max number of people in a group during this time. They have expanded their patio. They are dog friendly outside. When you walk in to a brewery and "Understatement" by New Found Glory is blaring - you know it's gonna be a good time. Chain Reaction Brewing Company was my second stop of the day this past weekend and it did not disappoint! SPACE: Tons of great natural wood throughout. LOVE the Colorado flag detail to the left of the door. The main bar area is adorbs! Outside Chain Reaction Brewing Company features a smaller dog-friendly patio that has three picnic tables and is shaded for those sunny Colorado summer days. SERVICE: The beertender was friendly AF and obvi had great taste in music (IMO). He was super attentive to everyone in the building and aware of their comings and goings. As I browsed the tap listing, he also made some great recommendations and validated my choices. SIPS: Yum! I sipped on the Pink Peppercorn Saison and a sample of the Cilantro Lime Serrano Wheat. Both were deeelish! The Pink Peppercorn Saison wasn't as peppery as I expected and def a bit sweeter. So good! The Cilantro Lime Serrano Wheat wasn't ridiculously spicy. It was solidly balanced. They offer a unique variety of creatively named brews regularly and additional fun rotating/seasonal taps. SUSTENANCE: While Chain Reaction Brewing Company doesn't offer up a kitchen of their own, they do have various food trucks that come and set-up shop out front. During my visit The Chomp was there serving up some fantastic cheese steaks! They have a calendar of their food trucks available on their website. Chain Reaction Brewing Company was def a wonderful stop on my brewery day with my pup! I can't wait to come back and sample more of their tasty brews! **Pro Tip: Chain Reaction Brewing Company is listed in both the PubPass (for 2017 & 2018) and The House that Beer Built! Tried to go here 30mins before closing to try out a local brewery in my neighborhood that I was born and raised in (literally 3mins away). To keep this short and sweet Very casual. Brighter decor. Outdoor seating available in warmer weather. It's really hard to knock a brewery up or down. For my preferences, the beer here is nothing too amazing. The beer names are fun and of course, you can try everything before you commit to one. Didn't like that all the beers are served in the same type of beer can shaped glass. Our group tried 6 different types and quite frankly, I thought all of them were just in the middle of the road okay. Not the type of go big or go home type of flavors, but that's just me. I like a good hoppy IPA but can also go for that rich stout. Didn't find anything worthy for me to come back again unless it's part of brewery hopping. I was in the area and decided to check this place out. The setting itself was pretty chill. Folks seemed pretty down to earth which is always good in my book. They also have a daily food truck! I had a flight that consisted of a lime Serrano wheat beer, an IPA, a rye IPA, and a pink peppercorn saison. My favorites were the rye IPA and the saison. They seemed pretty spot on in terms of flavor. Their regular IPA had an odd hop/malt profile or something, as it tasted a bit too earthy/metallic. Maybe there were a few too many Amarillo hops in there? Who knows? Overall, it's not a bad place to check out if you're looking for a local brewery in the area. read more

Let me tell you, people of Yelp, Chain Reaction's lavender lager (cheekily named Lavender is the Color of My Energy) gives me life. I'm a sucker for anything lavender, and his beer does not disappoint. My group tried several different beers, and they were all very tasty. Brian, the assistant brewer, was our beertender that night and he was great - he chatted with us all night and gave us some great recommendations. Overall - this brewery is great, and an awesome addition to the Denver neighborhood. If you want to try an awesome brewery with some tasty beers with great, punny names - give Chain Reaction a try! I promise they will not disappoint. Pro tip: they have super fun themed trivia nights, but you sometimes have to get a ticket. Oh man. I hate to give two stars to a new brewery on the scene, but there was very little I enjoyed about the beers here on my most recent visit. To start, you know how most new breweries have grand opening flubs and you're like "well, they're new. They'll figure it out." This was actually the reverse for me. Husband and I went on opening day and I thought their beers were pretty good for having just opened, brewing on a tiny system, and getting a bit overzealous in their number of offerings/flavor combinations. While this brewery isn't in my hood I said "good for them for being a neighborhood spot for down here!" Fast forward to last weekend. I had the pink peppercorn saison (which I remembered enjoying previously). It tasted like mothballs. No, I have not ever actually eaten a mothball, but you get the idea based on what you may have smelled before. A few other friends also took a drink and agreed. Someone else had the lemon IPA and was also having a hard time getting it down. I took a sip and it too had the mothball flavor. After this, I was pretty hesitant to try anything with crazier flavors so I stuck with the orange cream which is light, refreshing, and most of all drinkable. I considered saying something but I'm a fairly non-confrontational person. Fortunately for breweries, they can (and should) taste the product before they serve it. If it has a serious flaw (which this one did since mothballs are not what one would consider an acquired taste) do yourself and your patrons a favor and don't serve it. I would also suggest that they work on perfecting a few core beers that they do really well and expand out from there once they have all the kinks and quirks worked out. read more

The beer options were unique and fun, which I really loved but the bartender was not very attentive and kept forgetting what we asked for, even though we shared four tasters. The food truck was a little lacking in terms of options or even, good quality food or prep techniques. It had like french fries, wings and pizza like things. This is an okay spot to visit if you're not looking for anything fancy. Just know it's not in the best neighborhood and there isn't anything else near it for food, entertainment, etc. read more

We went here last night because they have trivia on Tuesdays. They have plenty of indoor seats as well as 4 outdoor shared tables outside (perfect for a nice Colorado evening). All of the beer here is very unique. I got the blueberry beer and it was delicious. My friend got the pineapple beer and I enjoyed that as well. They had a food truck outside too! This brewery has the same typical feel of any tap room I've been to in Denver. Open patio, dog friendly, and great beer on tap. The taproom is decorated with tons of wooden accents, friendly bartender mentioned the family that owns the brewery did it all the woodwork themselves. Every time I've been there at an appropriate hour there have been different food trucks slinging snacks. My only complaint that I'm not willing to knock a star off for is the music they've played while I was visiting. I mean smashmouth - all star came on while we were there :) The beer itself: great. Lemon IPA tastes so much better than I expected (I was thinking it'd be like a lemon shandy flavor). The pepper pink saison (was told is the most popular) had a great taste and was very refreshing. So many breweries, so little time! You need something to stand out in this heavy competition, and Chain Reaction is doing that. 1) They don't serve food, so they have food trucks on rotation and even post a calendar of who is coming and when. We were there when "Wheels of Fire" was on and they were fab (will need to find them on here and write a separate review). I love organization. I love food trucks. This is brilliant! B) They have unique beer "flavors". We tried the rye stout, pink peppercorn saison, orange cream ale, scotch ale, banana stand, and the creme brulee. Most of them had a hint of the descriptive flavor and did not smack you in the face. Our favorite with the creme brulee. Dark, rich, and very alcoholic. Detractors: It is loud and echo cavernous. It only takes one table full of loud dude bros to ruin the peace. They have those large bay doors and had to keep adjusting them because the evening sun was trying to blind us all. (I don't think they have air conditioning, so this was a dance between air flow and sunburn). Also, people bringing their dogs inside the tasting area like it's nothing. There were issues with barking, jumping on guests, etc. Make a rule, post a sign. read more

Chain Reaction is off the beaten path in an industrial area, but near Ruby Hill. There is parking out front. They have a nice patio for warmer seasons. The beer slinger was very nice and friendly. I was here on a Friday night and the place was packed. They had a food truck outside selling Arepas and they were tasty too. I tried the Platt Park Collab Dubbel. It has very good flavor! read more

This is a great new micro brewery in Denver. Has a great variety of beers, 16 different taps greet you as you walk in. Passionate owner that is a very skilled micro brewmaster. Terrible service. Rude people work here. I brought a large group of 50+ people here. I double parked (behind owners car apparently I was told) as I unloaded things for the party. Was there maybe 5 min or so, rudely told I can't park there. I said yes I understand, give me a minute and I'll move. He said move it now, I asked, "does someone need out? I'm blocking only one car, I'm moving it in a couple minutes" he scolded me like I was a child. I'm like dude, I brought you 50 customers, be nice. He said he was nice. What a loser. I will drive out of my way to go elsewhere. There's plenty of beer in town man. Don't need that kind of treatment. read more

The bartender on duty when I came in was better than five stars - friendly, quick with suggestions, and quickly dispensing flights and pints. There's also an admirable level of ambition on display in the beer styles - they're not just making the same old NE IPA and Pilsner as everyone else. However, sometimes ambition does not lead to results, and of the eight tasters I ordered, I would only order a pint of two of them. The regular pale ale and IPA were not exemplary but I could drink them. The other beers I tried either reflect a very different palate than mine - the fruit beers were SO sweet - or a lack of restraint: the lavender ale was like drinking perfume. Sometimes these reflect process issues with up-sizing from a smaller system, sometimes a refusal to act on feedback. Either way, I wish them the best in improving their beers if they want to - "I'm a cool mom" has potential to be something really special. I like to try new spots, especially where beer is concerned, and sometimes it's sadly a let down. There's potential here, I hope they see it realized. read more

Opening day visit, crowded but not overwhelmingly so. Industrial location but within easy reach of I-25/Santa Fe/Wash Park neighborhood. Much re-purposed beetle-kill pine gave the tasting room a warm feeling. Another Denver Metro brewery to open, and with so many choices, what makes this one different? Opening with 16 taps is one thing, especially for such a small brewing system. Small batches lend themselves to variety and experimentation, and this really shows with the kinds of beer on tap this opening day. Of the 16, I had samples or pints of the following: Rye Stout: Solid example of this, hearty, nutty, with a touch of rye spice. Pink Peppercorn Saison: Very nice Saison, peppercorns not overwhelming but made for a nice balance to the fruity/bubblegum esters known for this style. Orange Cream: Did not get much orange out of this, but a nice cream pale ale. Creme Brulee: Others at the bar were raving about this one, I could not finish it, as to my palette it was way too sweet, like chewing on those milk caramels you get at Halloween. Rye IPA: My favorite beer of the ones I sampled, though not quite a Redacted, very nice and worth a return trip. Lemon IPA: High hopes for this one, but like with the orange, just a hint. Others have tried this and come off as furniture polish-tasting, would be nice to bring the lemon up a bit on this one without going over the top. Brown: I am not sure what was going on with this one. I could not finish the sample English Mild: Very good example of this very drinkable style. Barley Wine: Please, let this one age for a year before tapping.... Cilantro Serrano Lime Wheat: Otherwise known as a serious science experiment, you would think there would be just too much going on, but this one works. Random observations: Could work on the ordering efficiency at the bar, with a couple of end spaces used, or get the service out to the tables, as sitting at the bar and having people breathing down my neck and passing beers between us was annoying. There seemed to be temperature/carbonation issues, as the pours took a while due to excessive foaming. Easily tweaked. I am not a fan of the glassware, as I suspect it was barely 16oz and with the excessive foam I doubt I had a full pour. I again must encourage craft breweries to use appropriate glassware with enough room for a full pint plus an inch or two of head. Good first showing! Tone down the Brulee and amp up the Orange and Lemon offerings and figure out what is going on with the Brown, and this will be a 5-star brewery. read more

I love Chain Reaction! Been coming here on the regs since the day they opened. Tucked away in the up and coming Athmar Park neighborhood, Chain Reaction is run by two cousins and some friends who are absolutely wild about beer. They have 16 taps on the wall, always flowing with eight Flagship brews and eight rotating experimental/seasonal beers. Dog friendly, plenty of seating, daily food trucks and easy parking. The staff is beyond awesome, they're a friendly group of kids who are obviously proud of their work and stand behind every beer they pour. The local patrons are just as friendly and awesome. Teachers, young professionals and old timers can all be found at the bar at any given time. No need to worry about pretentious, beer-snob hipsters, I believe they're still afraid to cross Santa Fe. Come on down, bring your puppy, have a pint or two and meet some new friends! read more

Chain reaction is one of my FAVORITE breweries in Denver! They always have unique beers - all kinds of variety ! There is definitely something here for everyone. The staff is so kind and friendly. Every time we go in they are more than happy to let us sample the beers with a smile, and always give great service. The glasses they serve in are super fun and shaped like a glass beer can. They have great food trucks here as well. They hosted a vegan night the night I was there with all their vegan beers listed (two on the menu had lactose- the orange cream and one other.) I was biking around this past weekend and decided to try Chain Reaction for the first time. What a beautiful brewery! As mentioned by others, the beetle kill pine that makes up the interior of this place is stunning- I love the huge wooden CO flag. When I arrived it wasn't too crowded although there were several people sitting out in their patio area, enjoying the beautiful day. The bartenders greeted me immediately and gave me a menu. I was quiet impressed with their expansive beer list given that they've only been open a short while. Unfortunately, I was not nearly as impressed with the beers themselves. I started with the pink peppercorn saison which, based on the name, I thought I would love but instead found it to be just OK. It had this faint, strange aftertaste to it, I can't put my finger on it. I also tried samples of several beers: the orange cream ale, the lemon IPA, and the cilantro Serrano lime wheat. The orange cream ale was good- and I don't normally like cream ales! But it had this smell to it (almost like triple sec??) that was weird. It didn't seem to affect the flavor but was somewhat off-putting. The lemon IPA was another beer I thought I would really enjoy based on the name but it also fell short for me. It had the same faint aftertaste as the Saison so maybe it's related to how they brew or store their beer, I dunno. The cilantro-serrano-lime wheat beer (what a mouthful... The bartender said they refer to it as "salsa beer", ha!) was my favorite. The flavor of the serranos came through boldly but with none of the heat. Similar to the style of Renegade's Una Mas: the pepper flavor is distinctive but it's not going to burn your mouth off. I like what they're doing and I like that they aren't afraid to experiment. I will be back in the future to try them again. I hope by then they will simply build the tax into their prices-- $5.94? Please just charge me $6, I don't mind. They're also releasing a collaboration beer (Chain Smoking Stranger) with my all time favorite brewery, Strange, later this week so I am excited to see how that turns out! read more

This place totally worked its way into my top breweries on the first visit. I will admit, the location is a little interesting, but I'm sure it's awesome if you live in the neighborhood! A bit of a drive for us, and not easily accessible by the light rail, but we will definitely make the effort to keep coming back! For one, we really liked all the beers we tried. I started out with the rye stout, which went down really easy and had a nice nuttiness from the rye, and then switched over to the orange cream ale to finish things off. Dessert in a glass! It was ridiculously tasty. E started off with the gin barrel-aged pink peppercorn saison #2, which was floral and yeasty and REALLY good, and then switched to the Edinburgh Scottish ale, which was nice and mellow and extremely well balanced. We both decided to split a Run Home Naked stout because our company was so good, and we both really enjoyed it! We also sampled the Indulgence Imperial Milk Stout...holy crap is that ever good. But at a hefty 13.2%, we weren't sure we could handle more than a taste! Be warned, almost all their beers come with a high ABV, but their prices are on par with the metro area for regular pints and 10oz pours. Brian, our bartender (and also one of the brewers), was great, as was the local sitting next to us. We chatted about Mexico and favorite area breweries and good beer in general. There were a couple friendly pups and a big open garage door which was a little chilly but will surely be great in the summer. Overall, E and I both really loved this place. It's a shame it isn't closer to us but we're known to be more than willing to make the cross-town trek for good beer and good company. Can't wait to come back! read more
