But it wasn't exactly easy either..the good thing is, when you fumble and have brain farts, you can use your walkie talkie to get clues from the staff. All in all it was fun, thought provoking and frustrating at the same time lol. When you escape you get to show off and staff takes a picture of you holding up cards of your choice stating "We escaped", "We're Awesome", etc..but we opted out. I'd definitely do it again though! I had never done an escape room before but wanted to surprise my boyfriend with something completely different. We went hoping to go into the virus room but the employee there was really great and realized we've never done a room before. He recommended the art gallery, which was much simpler for just two people. (The Virus calls for 8-10 people. We went over by a couple of minutes but he was kind and give us an extra five so we could finish the final clue. Would totally do this again, it challenges your mind and it's great fun. The only glitch was I bought tickets online and yelp said that the venue was closed the day I was going. I was so relieved to arrive and see that they were not closed. If I could give zero stars I would. We entered the Rockville Center location towards the end of a birthday get- together, and the kids only had 10 minutes left in the maze that they were in. The useless woman at the desk actually had the audacity to charge us the full fee of $35 for my child to join her friends for 10 minutes. We asked her why would you charge a full fee for 10 minutes of challenges, she responded "That's what they told me it was, anyone who enters had to pay $35". So to add insult to injury, the rate online states $32, so we asked Mrs. Useless what the discrepancy was and of course she had no clue and responded "I was told it's $35". We asked to speak to a manager and of course, no one was available. On top of the supposed employee being useless, she was on her cell phone the whole time doing some online shopping, and didn't even look up to give us a respectful amount of eye contact. Our next step will be to contact the BBB, and demand a resolution to the treatment we received from Ms. Useless at aforementioned establishment. read more

I was disappointed. Booked the entire wild west room for my son's birthday. I've done escape rooms before and they are usually watching you and if you get stuck they know exactly what to tell you. We got stuck and the guy asked us where we were in the room, and then he gave us clues that we already figured out. When we lost, he was showing us what we missed, and inbetween showing us he was trying to give the other rooms clues. There was another guy outside doing absolutely NOTHING. basically one employee was trying to take care of three groups by himself. What a waste of money. Went on random Tuesday with friends for a birthday. We booked the last time slot of the day which was 10pm-11pm. We arrived & had to wait at the door in the cold because the worker took a minute to buzz us in. No problem. We were all in a great mood and ready to have fun. Unfortunately right from the start, the worker (short w guy with dark hair) had a bit of an attitude but we weren't going to let that bring us down. (I figured it was because we booked the last time slot of the day so he was mad he had to work his whole shift) I get it, but didn't understand why he was so unpleasant. He seemed really annoyed telling us the directions, answering our questions, etc. The escape room itself was fun, definitely challenging. Only negative aspect was treatment from the employee. When we needed help with hints, it was obvious that he was annoyed and wasn't paying attention, giving us hints we already completed. What really turned us off was at the end of our hour, the employee came into the room and told us that our time was up and we needed to leave. We asked nicely if he can show us what clue we missed because we were so close. (In most escape rooms they show you what clues were missed if you don't make it out in time) His response? "Honestly I get paid till 11 and it's 11:02".... so we don't get the full experience because the owner is too cheap to schedule their employees until the customers leave? Why have a time slot that is the same time you close? Sorry for coming I guess. Came here with a large group of co-workers. Very spacious rooms and pretty challenging. We had the opportunity to escape from the wold west room and the viral outbreak room. Both very fun and can be pretty mind blowing. But it was a great way to get to know some friends, for the good and the bad... =D The rooms are alot of fun and at times can thwart you BUT our guide was very good at the initial explanation and gave us clue when we asked for them. The clues are good because it doesnt give you the answer but instead pushes you to think a little harder and see something from a different perspective which I appreciate. We did the Virus room with ten people, most of whom had done an escape room before. We did not have a problem solving the puzzles, and got out with over 35 minutes to spare. We had a good time, but the room was too short, we found. We were always moving forward, and did not get stuck for very long on any of the puzzles. How it works here is the clue master gives your team a walkie talkie that you can use to radio in for help at any time if you need it, and you can get up to three clues. We did not need any of these clues. There were a variety of locks and a variety of puzzles, none of which were particularly challenging. read more

Groupon purchase is much cheaper then direct buy but limited to certain themes. 2nd time I've been here but only 1st time failing here. The staff is super helpful and thoroughly explains rules and hints. The room we were in was the Game Room (throwbacks ones)! I believe the level is average but don't quote me on that. The 2 of us almost made it out but almost isn't good enough for me. Kevin I believe his name tried to assure us we did good because the max for the room is 10 people and it usually takes more than 2 people to solve. All in all it's a fun time minus the losing part. This was my first time doing an escape room . I went with two family members and we were lucky enough that it was just us . The guy working was so nice and explained a lot to us before starting . We went into the room and he explained everything really well. Like I said before it was our first time so we didn't get out of the room but the staff member again was super helpful and gave us great clues . The rooms were pretty cool and once we all went over the clues it all made sense . I would definitely go back and maybe next time start with the beginner level instead of medium. I've been to about 4 different escape room places and escaped about 10 escape rooms. This place is one of my favorites! The people are very nice, it's easy to make a reservation, it's just your group during COVID without paying extra which was a nice bonus and the rooms themselves are very polished and well done. We first did The Game Room - got it through Groupon - very easy but still fun and it's the first room that really got my mom into it because it was so doable. We then did the Virus Room - my least favorite of the 3 I did there but still very much enjoyed. Finally we did the Psychic Room - I was so nervous to ruin my winning streak because it only has a 5-10% success rate but we did escape!! It was extremely challenging though which made it a lot more fun for my husband and I who at this point felt like they were all becoming easy. All together, A+ experience every time. read more

I've only been to one other escape room before this one. Here you only get 3 hints. I feel like 5 would be better, but what do I know. I'm a novice. We got a Groupon for the "Game Room". Which was perfect for me because I don't like things popping up and scaring me. Would've been more fun if the people we were doing the room with didn't come drunk. I would have loved to actually go further in the room, but someone in the aforementioned group somehow opened one of the boxes out of turn and then they all insisted on solving from that point on. I just stood off to the side & watched the clock wind down because I was over it. The puzzles weren't set up right and some of the locks had been left open which led us to finding the key to get out first. I've done many escape rooms and, overall, this was a decent experience. I would probably have given them three and a half stars if it were possible. My friend and I did the room Virus. The puzzles are all linear, meaning each puzzle solved leads to the next puzzle. Personally, I am not a fan of these kinds of escape rooms. Especially when with a larger crowd because, with linear puzzles, since you can only work on one puzzle at a time, if two people are working on the primary puzzle what are the other people supposed to do? My friend and I were fortunate that it was just the two of us, so we didn't experience that issue. I was happy that they at least told us that it was linear so we didn't waste time looking for other clues. I like escape rooms with multiple puzzles to solve simultaneously so, if you get stuck on one puzzle, you can move on to another. However, with the current boom in popularity of Escape Rooms, you find linear puzzles more frequently because it makes the rooms far easier to build but it's not nearly as challenging. One thing that was frustrating was that, despite the presence of cameras in the room, the employees had no idea which part of the room we were on when we asked for a clue. Also, we could hear the employees talking and laughing just outside the door which kind of spoiled the "We're going to die of a horrible virus" atmosphere. But, as I said, overall it was a decent experience. I liked the atmosphere of the room and the puzzles were moderately challenging. I also liked that we were separated into two different rooms at the start of the challenge. I would try them again if they offer a coupon/Groupon. read more

Went last night with my husband and our 2 friends...SO MUCH FUN!!!!! The staff was awesome and really nice. We did the virus room, which was definitely challenging (we didn't make it out in the hour, but they gave us an additional 5 minutes to try and work it out) but really, really fun! All 4 of us wanted to do the other room as soon as we got out. We will 100% be going back. If you're looking for something fun to do with a group of people, this is a great option for something different that will get you all thinking and having a good time! Also, the location can't be beat - in the middle of Rockville Centre and right down the block from International Cafe...cant get much better than that! read more

This escape room challenge was exactly that - a Challenge! But we did escape with 3 seconds to spare ! We totally enjoyed ourselves, and did not expect it to be as difficult as it was. The RVC spot is a prime location, dinner and drinks afterwards with multiple bars/restaurant to choose from....as for the room itself, we chose the Play room, and we were stumped ! Once we got the ball rolling so to speak, the clues caught on and we won the night! Good times. read more

Several of my friends and I decided to check out this escape room location. We had never done an "escape room" event before, so we were looking forward to it. Overall, the place was decent, the game's concept was fun, and the employees were friendly and helpful, but there were a few instances that made the experience very lame and disappointing. One of the puzzles in the room required the four of us drawing symbols on four dry-erase boards. This was fine, except for the fact that all four of the provided markers were almost completely dead. Not entirely, we had just enough ink to faintly make a nearly-invisible mark, but that was it. Well, it turns out that you really needed to be able to see what you were doing in order to progress past that part of the game. It's a little hard to explain on here, (you needed to be able to view the "big picture" from a distance), but because the markers were dead, we couldn't get past this part of the challenge at all, and spent what must have been 25-30 minutes on it before an employee called in and told us what was wrong. Afterwards, I complained about the markers, and a different employee said that she knew the markers were dead, and that she meant to replace them, but forgot to. She then went off to change them for the next customers. Also, before we went into the room, two of the employees made a very big deal about how none of the items on the wall needed to be touched or used, and how most of the items in the room were just for visual use. One of the items in the room even went so far as to have a "do not touch" sticker on it. Well, much to all of our surprise, in order to move forward in the puzzle, we had to use and handle that particular item. We wasted about 15-20 minutes trying to figure out what to do before the employee literally came in the room and showed us what to do. We were all very annoyed at the miscommunication. So, in the end, the management of the venue works against the ability to play the games and move forward. It was literally impossible for my group to proceed forward for these two challenges because of logistical issues. We ended up spending at least 35-40 minutes on these two challenges, both of which we never really had a chance to solve. It was my first time doing something like this, but I would imagine that escape rooms need to be carefully considered and maintained at a very high level in order for the rooms to work fluidly and accurately for guests. All in all, this Rockville Centre location is probably too lackadaisical to be chosen over another similar escape room location. read more

We got stuck at a couple of points and did have to use a clue because we we worried we were opening up the last clue wrong, but we managed to escape and there were definitely some challenging moment. We did escape with ~34 minutes to spare, so personally it wasn't the hardest room. But we still enjoyed ourselves and are planning to go back to try some other rooms. read more

We purchased tickets for the RVC locataion via groupon for our son's 11th birthday this past weekend. We arrived at the location 15 min prior to our appointment, and nobody answered the door. We gave them some time, thinking they may be running behind. Nobody showed up. We called, several times. Nobody answered the main line. They had no other phone numbers available to pick from for the three locations. We messaged on facebook, an answer didn't come for several hours. It was 20 degrees out, we had several 10 and 11 year olds with us. Not a great time. Turns out they changed their scheduling without notifying us. They apologized and offered us vouchers. My friends and I came here on a Saturday evening with my friends. We had a 6 pm appointment, because it was only 4 of us we went into our game room with the coolest couple whose names escape me at this moment. We did the game room which was a bit challenging but according to the employee we did excellent (finishing with 10 mins to spare and only using 2 of 3 clues). I would definitely recommend coming here and would even visit again ! The staff is super friendly and on time, now the one downside (which obviously doesn't affect my rating) is the women's bathroom there was no tissue and one stall was full with construction equipment(there were only two stalls. First, just want to say that the person running it was great. I have no complaints about the staff. We did The Game room and it was kind of crappy and rinky dink. I was just not happy with the set up. I thought it looked tacky. Also, they could stand to vacuum those rooms more often.
