Came here for rope climbing on an evening. Quite limited amount of lead routes: approx. 12ish. The rest were top ropes. Ropes don't seem popular choice in this gym. It seems most ppl were bouldering and mostly with teens, and perhaps college students. Since I didn't boulder, I cannot speak much about it... Just that the bouldering features seem decent with arch, overhang, slab features, and board training. I am basing my experience on the rope. There were some high quality route setting in there, say 3/10, the rest seemed staircase: left, right, left, right. It would be good if they could improve in the route setting and making it much more challenging like using heelhooks, toehooks, etc. Even in the overhang part, majority looked like left right routines. I'd say my experience was alright. Not the best, not the worst. I also noticed one of the fan was not working so it might have been a bit of a steamy workout in there...

My son has been coming to this rock climbing gym for 8 months now- he said it's better than where he used to go (Island Rock) because they have more variety of techniques in different routes (bouldering). He spent all summer climbing, became belay certified, still comes every single weekend and was also a judge for a competition a few weeks ago (best experience he's ever had). I even took my daughter & her friend here (first timers) and to my surprise, they enjoyed it. The GV only offer memberships (monthly, quarterly or annual) or day passes- wish they offered 1 or 2 hour options too for the younger kids. Imo, the prices are quite expensive and altho this Westbury location is larger than most climbing gyms in the area, it isn't well-kept. The mats and lounging area are very dirty with chalk everywhere as well as the bathroom & fitness equipments. There are no disinfectant wipes nor sanitizer dispensers either. But overall, it can be a fun time for all ages as I witnessed and definitely an excellent workout!

CampsRUs is great for kids that aren't super into sports and competition, and prefer other activities. Each day is different. They go to a nearby town pool 1x a week, and 1-2x a week have a fun trip. This year they went to White Post Farms, Adventureland, Bounce, laser tag, bowling, Bellmore Playhouse, and a bunch of other places. Trips are different for each age group. The camp is run out of a school, so they have a playground and gym, as well as classes in stem, arts & crafts, etc. One day they had a slime truck come, another day the NY Islanders came, another day was a petting zoo with pony rides. I love that the camp has a Facebook message group and sends pictures every day of what your kids are doing. They are family run, and seem to really care.

The boys were not interested in the discussion at all. The session was informative to the parents, but the lady seemed unable to handle younger kids. We were searching nonstop looking for the right place to get our 2yearold son started in the world. It's hard too explain, but we just didn't get a good vibe from other places. They felt to heartless and business-y. From the very first email from Red Robin, everything was different. The response was warm and welcoming. And even given our unique situation, Red Robin didn't turn us away. They made it clear that, if the fit was right for our son's development, they would do whatever was within their power to work with us. And they did, and we are beyond grateful!!! Red Robin was the right place at the right time for us! Our son has only been in school for a few weeks and he's grown so much: from barely being able to interact with kids his own age to now, wanting to see his friends and teachers every day he's not in school; he also knows his letters, and can (sometimes) count to five; he even tells mini stories about playing in the waterpark, etc. It's absolutely amazing to witness our son flourish the way he has at Red Robin. Oh, and yes!, they have a mini water park area outside... and an on-site pool for their summer camp, and a horse =D But more importantly, the staff is wonderful. Our son loves them all and that puts us at so much ease. This place is really awesome!!!!!

The entire Goodman family (owners/directors) are all hands on deck, involved in the day to day, and always engaging with campers, staff, and families. There's an incredible culture and camaraderie between everyone, from the group leaders who attended Rolling River decades ago as campers, all the way to the new counselors. Most important of all, everyone we've met at orientation, meet the matey's, reunion events, etc. are patient and nurturing, and truly enjoy working with children. The leadership team and head counselors are educators and it really shows throughout each camp day. Yes, the kids are here to have the time of their lives, but beneath all the fun, there's real substance and intentionality throughout the day. In the STEAM lab, there's a weekly theme and age appropriate lessons for each group. Sports/athletic blocks promote participation and teamwork. And instructional swim lessons use every square inch of the pools to maximize practice and repetitions. Between the waterfront with boating. kayaking and paddleboarding, a great mix of outside vendors/instructors, and included field trips, there's a ton of variety day to day. And we can't forget the always over-the-top special days (e.g. carnival day) and end of summer color war! It may seem cliche but we really noticed both of our kids "come out of their shells" after each camp season. They were more confident in playing sports and participating, noticeably more comfortable in the pool, and the biggest win of all was conquering their stage fright. I can attribute that last one to song and plaque day and the theatrical performance each group works on with the great team at "To The Stage" in Oceanside. We so appreciate everyone at the RIVA and recommend Rolling River without hesitation. We're already counting down the days until summer and just another two years before our little guy is old enough to join his two sisters in the fun. Thank you!
