Sautéed pepper, caramelized onions, greens, bacon, cheese, buttery bun and omg California sauce. Oozing at a medium cook and not overly seasoned, the patty only complimented the rest of the sandwich. This is the kind of burger I would gift as a wedding present to my heart healthy dieting brother. Delicious. Fries are fried and booze is booze. Sunday night went to the Blackbird Park moonlight tour and afterwards visited the Tap House. Jason, the bartender and manager was on his game, sweet, funny and attentive. The house was busy and the wait staff and serving staff were deluged. All places make mistakes it's how you handle them that matters. My beer cheese burger was well done and the cheese wasn't flowing. It looked congealed as if it had sat for sometime before serving as did my friends. We brought this to our server's attention and she immediately returned them to the kitchen for a make over. Jason, now in manager role, made absolutely certain the burgers met our expectations (medium rare, with fresh beer cheese and hot from the kitchen), and comped them on our bill! He went above and beyond. How he can be on top of everything, in a place that full and busy, says tons about his attention to detail and the care in putting together a team in the service industry that will succeed. Been to many similar in San Diego and Portland, but common options were not available. Most of the beers that you could normally NOT find in a store had not been restocked yet, but the bartender really shined with his custom hard liquor drinks. The food was hit and miss... Hummus appetizer had a falafel mix "secret ingredient" to it (just guessing), very good if you're use to Mediterranean food. Next the main entree; wings and the beer burger. Almost seemed like it was 2 different people prepping! The wings were served over fried then tossed in COLD sauce of choice, and the kid's cheeseburger had burnt cheese bits on bottom of patty and picky eater refused to continue. But the beer burger was perfectly cooked, delicious and presented just like the pictures on here, same for our dessert... Peach cobbler was amazing. The kid's ice cream was good enough to only please them... it had frost on it like it melted and been refrozen. Definitely will try again later when more things are smoothed out, server said its only been open one month. So... the vibe was off today at the Tap House. We went in for a Sunday dinner. Walked into no greeting and no employees in site. We sat ourselves. We pulled up the menu on our phones by going to Yelp and checking out pictures. No biggie, we are pretty easy. We heard a lot of noise and saw thru the kitchen door window what seemed to be a fight among the employees. Someone yelled "fuck, stop" And then silence. We got a menu and got served. Our first choice was a brisket sandwich. But they were out so we got a Korean sandwich. Also got a pretzel and Tator tots. The pretzel was sad looking. I'm used to getting a nice giant, fluffy pretzel with mustard. This was just about as big as my hand. Eh. Not bad. But not what most restaurants serve. The server said she was coming back with utensils. The sandwich definitely needed to be cut. It was a good size. A fork was needed to eat the drippings. She didn't come back. We had no napkins either. The bar tender gave us a knife after she saw us trying to flag the server down. Our beers were great though! So we didn't end up eating the sandwich. We got a box to go. We are normally very good tippers. I love tipping for great service. But this time I didn't bother digging for any extra dollar bills to round up to a nice tip. I just left a few bucks of my change. Our server made amazing drink recommendations and we tried the Brisket Nachos and substituted the tortilla chips with fries, they were super bomb. When going for the first time you would expect nothing but the best but if I knew how bad the service was going to be I would have gone else where, to begin with the waitress waiting on two other couples besides me and my husband it took her forever to even take out orders and the fact that she didn't want to acknowledge I was sitting at the table, didn't give me a menu, anything I wanted to order was "all out", didn't take my drink order, she "forgot" to place my food order, and forgot to bring me water when I had asked. Wouldn't recomend because it was a horrible service from the blond waitress then when she finally put my food order besides the fact that it took her forever to put it in it was brought to the table by someone else and was finally brought everything from drinks to appetizers which was brought way after the food because "she forgot that I ordered it along with my drink" but brought my husbands drinks and with the food "I wasn't allowed" to make any special requests like "onions on the side" then my husband asked and all of a sudden it was allowed. Sucks how places like this die down due to horrible servers like this defiantly disappointed, and will not be returning. The owner Carlos had an idea to open an establishment that was different from all the others and he did. He took his time building this restaurant and he did it right, he made a big footprint in the AV. Chef Mike, with his exceptional culinary skills along with his crew knows how to turn up the notch in gourmet cruisine. Everything he makes is wonderful. Been to Challenger Tap House twice now and we have been satisfied both times. Fresh food and great beers on tap. The wait staff has been super friendly. Last time we went on a Sunday to catch Sunday night football and they had two big screens outside, one with football and the other basketball. My wife has ordered differed items and has enjoyed them. The Korean tacos were yummy. The philly fries are HUGE and definitely share worthy. As a vegetarian, I do wish they had Impossible over the Beyond Burger and they offered more options but it's not that big of a deal. My biggest issue is that they allow smoking. While it is outdoor dining, we really couldn't escape the smoke and did put a damper on our evening. I do feel that since it is outdoor dining only, maybe the smokers should walk a few feet and step outside of the eating area. All in all, an awesome spot to enjoy the game and some grub on the Eastside. read more

This was my first time at the tap house and it was perfect we were quickly seated - basically chose where you wanna sit, and got beers, and wings all within 20 minutes keep in mind it was a Friday night at 10pm. The first place to pop up on Yelp and it said "Hot and New" and only had six reviews all 5 stars. We are from the LA area and are rarely ever in this area. This was their soft opening, so customers need to be forgiving when it's a new place especially so they can work out the kinks and properly train their people. So be nice! (Yes, I am talking about the guy behind me that didn't receive silverware with his fries.) Southwest Hummus with pita: Good, but could be spicier. Price point is too low for the amount of hummus. Raise the price a little and add maybe a couple more pita slices. Beer Cheese Burger: Juicy Good. The cheese is similar to cheese used at Walburgers. YUM! I ordered without mushrooms, and there are two burgers with mushroom on the menu, maybe cut this down to one. Love the bun. Original Fries: Good. I like the thickness of the fries, kind of shaped like a brick, not too thick like steak fries and not shoestring. I don't see this style many places. It's a nice touch. House Burger: Juicey Good. Change nothing. House salad: Excellent. Was not expecting this salad to have bacon, goat cheese, grape tomatoes and an egg on a bed of spring mix lettuce. This is a classy salad. Drunken Peach Crisp: Amazing! A must try. This is served in a cast iron skillet a la mode. Appears to be made with fresh peaches marinated in whiskey (I think). So good. The bathrooms are awesome. Beer keg and tap sinks and beer keg urinals: so clever and a nice way to keep with the tap room theme. The only thing I would change is the lighting. It is not inviting at all, and the bar area is extremely dark. Maybe go with a warmer bulb and add some recessed lighting in the bar to avoid glare on the TV's.
