The first place to pop up on Yelp and it said "Hot and New" and only had six reviews all 5 stars. We are from the LA area and are rarely ever in this area. This was their soft opening, so customers need to be forgiving when it's a new place especially so they can work out the kinks and properly train their people. So be nice! (Yes, I am talking about the guy behind me that didn't receive silverware with his fries.) Southwest Hummus with pita: Good, but could be spicier. Price point is too low for the amount of hummus. Raise the price a little and add maybe a couple more pita slices. Beer Cheese Burger: Juicy Good. The cheese is similar to cheese used at Walburgers. YUM! I ordered without mushrooms, and there are two burgers with mushroom on the menu, maybe cut this down to one. Love the bun. Original Fries: Good. I like the thickness of the fries, kind of shaped like a brick, not too thick like steak fries and not shoestring. I don't see this style many places. It's a nice touch. House Burger: Juicey Good. Change nothing. House salad: Excellent. Was not expecting this salad to have bacon, goat cheese, grape tomatoes and an egg on a bed of spring mix lettuce. This is a classy salad. Drunken Peach Crisp: Amazing! A must try. This is served in a cast iron skillet a la mode. Appears to be made with fresh peaches marinated in whiskey (I think). So good. The bathrooms are awesome. Beer keg and tap sinks and beer keg urinals: so clever and a nice way to keep with the tap room theme. The only thing I would change is the lighting. It is not inviting at all, and the bar area is extremely dark. Maybe go with a warmer bulb and add some recessed lighting in the bar to avoid glare on the TV's. First time last time. I ordered a 25 oz point the way IPA. It took 15 minutes to get a 16 oz beer. The waitress smirked and said "sorry I gave the drink to the wrong table" The waitress seemed upset because I complained about the mix up. After I complained my service when down the trash. Went here for the first time a week ago for a going away party. The selection of beer was great a little of everything to pick from. A couple beers I tried ordering were out which sucked (suggesting maybe they should hang a board with the beers they are out of) but tried other ones. Even tried one of their original drinks which they wouldn't tell me what was in it which was a little discouraging. The party was large so the wait for a drink was even longer. The waitress was terrible. I get being busy but she had an attitude and everything. I got the Bavarian Pretzel (supposed to be giant but it was your average sized soft pretzel). It wasn't anything crazy to rave about just a basic soft pretzel. I will give it a couple months before I go back. read more

I've seen some comments put on right before mine and to be perfectly honest they couldn't be further from the truth. The beauty of the challenger tap house is that the quality and service is consistent and consistently top notch. From Jason the bartender to all the servers especially Brooklyn, their quality and service is always top of the line. They wore masks at all times and enforced social distancing guidelines throughout my visit. Everything on the menu has always been delicious and the staff's suggestions have never been a disappointment. This is truly a gem in this desert and I'm proud to be a patron. Dined in 6/4/20 our server (Sean from the receipt) wasn't attentive at all. He seemed to be more into serving the large table of 21 years olds copiously drinking. The girl who seated us and brought menus was more attentive. Ordered a burger which was under cooked and the buffalo chicken fries and beer. Beer was cold. Never could get the servers attention for the burger. When he came to the table asking if we wanted the check I mentioned the burger and he asked if I wanted a box for the buffalo fries then brought the check. Guess uneaten food is a normal as the waiter didn't offer a re-cook or anything. No worker wore a mask from the servers, to the bartender etc. Using paper menus but not disposing. read more

Good food, friendly service, but the wait time wasn't the best. 3.5/5 Went on a Saturday night. Pretty early(like 5). Our waitress was super sweet, my margaritas were really good. I originally ordered the steak salad, but was told after a length of time that it wasn't available, so I settled with a house salad. Good, not great. Husband ordered a huge beer cheese burger with onion rings. Those o ion rings were the best part of the food for me, and my husband loved his burger. I also ordered the apple crisp. I wish I could say it was good, but it was absolutely bland. The apples had no special spices, the topping was like burnt pie crust, and I didn't receive the caramel sauce. All in all, it was a good place, we will go back and hopefully some of the kinks of being so new will be worked out. read more

Yesterday was our second time there. Sat at the bar as usual since the service is typically much better. Bar manager was quite attentive, gave us the food and beer menus. Ordered some wings and Buffalo Chicken Frites. Both were quite good for bar food. As we were finishing our meal and had ordered another beer, the unimaginable happened. The most repugnant and despicable smell of weed started coming from the kitchen. Every time someone would enter or exit the kitchen area the smell would pour over the bar. That is truly unacceptable and the manager should be ashamed. To allow this to happen within your place of business is alarming and I may never go back. Not sure how to respond to the managers response, so I'll just edit this one. This was during lunch. Gentleman behind the bar introduced himself as the Bar Manager, I believe Jason was his name, and I suppose I should have said something to him. Not trying to get anybody in trouble, just warning other customers. And I certainly know the difference between wing sauce and weed. After speaking with Carlo, it was apparently caused by another customer smoking outside the kitchen and just happened to be sitting next to us . I'm going to give this place a mixed review and will revisit when we go back next month. Menu was varied and interesting. Their beer expert did a great job paring beer with our order and the beer was cold and didn't go flat (like it does at some of the mega-beer-selection restaurants in the A.V.). The food was delivered at the appropriate temperature and was all really good. The exception being that the salmon and pork chop were a bit overcooked. Sides and our desert were also pretty good - I loved the garlic mashed potatoes. We will definitely go back for the food and beer. The service definitely did not do the food any favors. Beer was brought out with the salads, perfect timing. By the time our entree's arrived 45 minutes later, we had finished our beers. We decided to put in a desert order before we finished dinner and it still took an almost 40 minutes for the desert to appear. In what might be the oddest response, we were told they did not have coffee. To go with desert. What is up with that? I can't ever remember a restaurant that serves desert not having coffee. 3 stars for this visit. The service was not good, but the food was good and the prices were fair. Goes to show you that 5 star reviews are only 5 star reviews if the persons reviewing the place isn't related to the business owner or actually knows what they're talking about. The outside of the restaurant feels quite uninviting and the interior doesn't help much. It's a dreary color palette makes this place look more like an escape room than an inviting place to eat. A person sat us down and handed us some menus that looked more like a midterm test than a menu. The menus had corrections that were hand scribbled. I realize they haven't been open for very long but in a time of heightened competitiveness there is no excuse for any of this. We wanted to order a beer but there was no beer menu or no one to order from. We sat for about 15 min, no waitress/waiter. So we walked out. Based on service/lack of service I would stay away. Regardless of wether or not the food is good, this place needs to understand that service is half of the dining experience. We ended up at In N Out and we were in n out quickly after we ate a delicious well priced burger. You might be better off doing the same. read more
