My wife and I stayed at the Fantastic Chamonix Hotel and Casino in Cripple Creek, CO, to celebrate my 90th birthday. Our valet parking attended, Ronald took our luggage to the front desk, where the cheerful attendants, Shalee, Chelsie and Ashley provided us with our keys to a suite. (We were able to check in early) After moving into our suite the casino floor beckoned us. We both played in Chamonix casino and all through Bronco Billy's. Had a great time. I had one hand-pay. Dawn the local bartender, Lexi, pay master and Joel, security, watched over everything, all helped me with this exciting event. Great people. Dinner was at the new Don Juan's Cucina Mexican restaurant. Loads of food and a special Tequila. On our way to the suite my walker needed adjustment and Tim, custodian, came to the rescue. All in all everything from arrival to 980 Prime, Saturday, was beyond high quality. W. Field, marketing and W. Vinson, personal host made my 90th birthday the very best. read more

DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU'RE TRAVELING WITH A PET unless you're prepared to pay a $200 NONREFUNDABLE pet fee for a one-night stay. This fee was not disclosed anywhere during the booking process that I could find. The only place it appears is buried in the Terms & Conditions in small print at the bottom of the website. My friend and I ended up in Cripple Creek after a hailstorm cut our camping trip short. We had my 10-pound, 10-year-old dog, Cosmo, with us, so I specifically booked a pet-friendly room at Chamonix. Everything was going well at first. Becki in valet was absolutely wonderful - friendly, helpful, and by far the highlight of our experience. At the front desk, I checked in, provided my ID, and they ran my credit card. As the employee was about to hand me my room keys, he casually asked if I had any pets. When I said yes and pointed to Cosmo, who was standing with our luggage, he replied, "Okay, that'll be a $200 charge." A $200 nonrefundable pet fee for one small, well-behaved dog staying one night is outrageous - especially when it exceeded the cost of the room itself. Most higher-rated, true luxury hotels, like The Broadmoor, charge $50-$100, or they place a refundable deposit for potential damages. Waiting until after my card had already been charged to disclose this fee felt like an intentionally shady business practice. When I told them I couldn't justify paying an additional $200 and asked to cancel the reservation, I was initially told they don't allow same-day cancellations. The manager eventually agreed to waive the cancellation fee, but despite my request, never came out to speak with me directly. One additional disappointment: while waiting in line, a second front desk manager who had been assisting other guests stopped acknowledging me when I got to the front of line. I have severe POTS, which makes standing for extended periods difficult, and that made an already stressful situation even harder. It's unfortunate because I had been looking forward to seeing the property, having dinner at one of the restaurants, and spending a few hours gambling in the casino. Instead, we left and found somewhere else to stay. If the pet fee had been clearly disclosed during booking, I simply would have chosen another hotel. Transparency upfront would have avoided this entire experience, despite the fact that $200 is still an outrageous charge for a pet. read more

Bartender Kelly is beyond rude and should not work in a costumer service area! No waitresses were coming to take our order so we went to the bar and requested our first drink of the night and she flat refused even when we offered to pay for our drinks. A wonderful, well-constructed addition to Cripple Creek. The town has never seen a structure so large. Despite a commanding presence, the impact is subtle and not overpowering. The entrance makes for a good transition from gaming row in to Chamonix' upscale environs. I'm not one to gripe about losing money to a casino. That's just the equation. You can notch big losses and big wins. Here's the deal though. If someone walks in, pops a bill in a machine, plays the maximum and it doesn't kick back enough for the gambler to be compelled to stay, they leave. A sucker for high limits was lost early with my machine not notching token wins. Sure, I would consider returning to try the steakhouse and lodging, but I'll stick to the tables. Also, how disappointing any self-respecting Yelper would review this setting complaining they don't give refunds for visitors experiencing altitude sickness at 9,500'. Just stay at sea level. Galveston has plenty to see and do. No Colorado for you, sir. I was going to leave three stars, but after reading that, I was compelled to leave four. read more

Went to this casino recently just trying to relax and have a good time at the craps table. Was up a couple hundred, cheering and enjoying the game--immediately the workers started staring at me and whispering. I was then asked to leave because my underwear were apparently showing a little with sweatpants on. I'm 42, not out here causing problems or being disrespectful. However, I pulled them up anyway and was still asked to leave. Been to plenty of casinos over the years and never had anything like that happen. Just felt unnecessary and honestly took the fun out of the whole experience. If you're looking for a laid-back place to enjoy yourself, this probably isn't it. The way the pit boss handled this was completely unprofessional. Instead of addressing things respectfully, it escalated into me being asked to leave over something minor like a waistband showing. I've been to plenty of casinos and never experienced anything like that. Management seriously needs to take a look at how situations like this are handled, because it ruins the experience for customers who are just there to have a good time. The way this situation was handled didn't sit right with me. I was asked to leave over something minor while just playing craps and minding my own business. It honestly felt like I was being singled out. I can't say for sure, but as a Black man who looks younger than I am, it's hard not to wonder if that played a role. Either way, the whole experience felt unfair and unnecessary. Casinos should be places where everyone can relax and feel welcome--not judged or pushed out over something small. read more

We came to Cripple Creek yesterday to celebrate our 33rd wedding anniversary. We stayed the one night in The Chamonix Hotel. It was okay. The room was on the smaller side. The carpets were extremely dirty and when I wiped up a small spill on the bathroom tile, the kleenexes I used were blue. It was like there was some sort of blue film all over the tile ... chemical cleaner? Who knows. The bed was really very comfortable. The room was quiet except for the sounds of children laughing and yelling while they ran down the hall Saturday afternoon. I hope they didn't hear us ... hahaha! It was a great location and a decent place to stay. Too bad about the floors. PS I didn't take any pics because there was not much reason to. read more

First off be prepared to be at 9,500 feet. Don't expect any refunds if you're experiencing breathing difficulties. On the plus side I found the room very clean. This is the only reason I can give 2 stars. On the downside the hotel double billed my credit card, calling the hotel I could only leave a message. I had to reject payment on my credit card provider to raise a response from the hotel. The in-house restaurants were extremely pricey. read more

Ok ,so, this is the newest Casino/hotel in Cripple Creek. 1st time the wife and I have been to Cripple creek. Unfortunately she is/was recovering from surgery and was using a knee scooter. 1st strike was checkin was at 4 ,let them know we were running behind schedule and we would be late. No worries we were told you have until 2a.m to checkin. We arrived a little after 5 and were told room wasn't available. They didn't know why. Not happy. As you can tell room was nice enough, we made the reservation on Expedia and got a rate of $135. Which was better than the casino was offering by $30. Bed was comfortable, walk thru shower with 2 shower heads which was pretty cool but no bathtub which didn't bother me but my wife likes to soak sometimes. They boast a few dining options but didn't find anything that we were in the mood for. The inside of the hotel does have an elegant feel to it but the casino we felt was lacking in the slot machines as far as volume were used to. It is also connected to another casino which allows you to use a ramp but after that you have to go outside to access the other parts because thier are stairs which if you have a walking disability does not work well especially if it's pouring down rain as it was the night we were there. So the place is not handicap friendly. They do have a nice coffee shop that offers bakery style items like muffins and such to accompany your morning wake up. All in all we felt our experience was fair but nothing to brag about. Would we go back , probably not. If we did it would be more sight seeing and a little gambling but not the other way around. Things might be different when my wife is recovered but our experience left us with a little sour taste in our mouth. Give it a go but don't hold your expectations too high. We've always enjoyed our stay here--which keeps us coming back over and over again. It is one of the most family-friendly hotels to stay at. The amenities are fantastic and the staff are phenomenal. Most recently, I stayed here alone with my 20-month old and was really taken care of by the valet and bell man/woman. They went above and beyond for me every single time. Valet parking is also complimentary, which is truly such a blessing when you have a little one. The coffee at the cafe downstairs in the main lobby is also really good. Check in and check out are always a breeze. The rooms are always clean and beds are super comfy. There is no where else I'll stay in Cripple Creek!! Best of all, the location! It is close to everything (I mean, so is everything else in Cripple Creek), but more notably, it's close to a playground and the rec center...literally just right across the street. Chamonix Casino Hotel is a wonderful place to have a stay-cation. Definitely looking forward to another one soon! read more

Everything is a scam at this place. There's a pool, but you have to pay a huge spa fee to use the hot tub. They pull the ol' fridge full of snacks scam so you can't put anything in the fridge, including insulin that must be kept refrigerated. The ajoining room door is so thin you can literally hear the people next store blowing their nose. And absolutely no cell signal in the towers. Definitely do not recommend. read more

Man, just when I thought they were getting better at being organized with their patrons. I had an interesting issue today. I have repeatedly gone to this location since the very first opening which was on New Year's Eve which was a disaster. I wrote a review about it and gave it another chance several times.... Each time they seem to be getting a little bit better and better And each time I would write a review reflecting that. There are simple little things with service that weren't fantastic, but overall the staff is amazing. They're friendly. It's a good environment. The rooms even though there are little things you can pick apart are very nice and clean. I have made it a point to go at least a couple times a month and always gamble in their casino. Never leave the property and I gamble a decent amount of money. They definitely make their money off of me being there. This past weekend I went online to book a room using the promo code that was online. Reservation went through no problem. I got a confirmation email. Everything was golden..... Then unbeknownst to me I was told I had to pay The best available rate instead of the comp rate I had booked online. Again, I booked this through their website using my players card number using their offer online... Then am suddenly told they're not going to stand by that offer. My husband and I had planned on utilizing the spa during this stay so that I could review that being that it was the only area of the hotel we have yet to try . It's not the end of the world, but it definitely puts them another step back in being able to claim true customer service experiences and has left a bad taste in my mouth. Basically they're not consistent. And even though the staff is friendly and nice, the company itself is inconsistent and full of just enough minor annoyances to make it not worth going. BEWARE do not leave anything in your room.. it will NOT be returned by their staff! What should have been a memorable weekend stay quickly turned into a disappointing experience due to how an expensive personal item left in my hotel room was handled following my stay at Chamonix Casino & Hotel. After checking out on February 15th, I realized that my Apple Watch had been left in my room 4113. I immediately contacted the hotel and was told that Lost & Found would reach out to me. Later that afternoon, I called again and was informed that my watch had not been turned in. I requested to speak with a manager and was told one would call me back. The following day, after not receiving a call, I contacted the hotel again and was eventually connected with a manager. I was told that housekeeping is a third party company and that she would contact them. I later received a call from the manager stating that housekeeping had replied via email saying, "At this time, we don't have any reports of the watch." I asked if the specific housekeeping staff who had been assigned to my room could be contacted directly, as the response did not clarify whether they were actually asked. I was told that this was the only answer available at this time and that no further follow-up email would be done by her. I was also told that if the item had been taken, there was nothing that could be done, as there was no proof, and that the hotel is technically not liable for items left behind. While I understand and take responsibility for leaving my watch in the room, the lack of urgency, transparency, and follow through was extremely disappointing. My fiancé and I are frequent guests at Chamonix Casino and spend a significant amount of money gambling there weekly. We also spent a considerable amount during our Valentine's weekend stay. Given that loyalty, I expected a more professional and ethical approach to resolving this situation or at the very least, clear and thorough communication. Instead, the interaction left me with the impression that if an item is taken by staff, guests are simply told there is nothing that can be done. Unfortunately, this experience has left a very bad taste and has made me question the integrity and accountability of the hotel! They lost me. The Bistro was cool and worth it the first time. Crab legs and great sides. $55 was a lot, but the quality was there. We just went back to Cripple Creek and decided to repeat the experience. All of the food had been sitting out too long so it was all dried out. Everything had Asian buffet vibes....and no crab! So if the crab is gone surely they have adjusted the price because they stopped including the most expensive thing!! Nope. So now it is an overpriced Chinese buffet. Save your money. This place was never on my radar, in life. I'm an absolute believer in the brand here... while hard to pronounce (I settled on Shaw-mo-knee) it is easy on the eyes. The casino/hotel is gorgeous and you feel wealthy just stepping inside. The decor is spectacular and the rooms are elegant, spacious and truly made for VIPs. The spa was incredible with a facial and massage, that cannot compare to anything else I've experienced. I've been to foreign countries and across the US, this spa is one for the memory! Plenty of slot machines, options for drinks and food. This casino/hotel is a breath of fresh air on the main street in Cripple Creek. Really enjoyed our stay at the Charmonix! It's right on the main strip which is convenient and the rooms were nice. The lobby and casino areas are gorgeous! We had dinner at 980 Prime and it was 10 out of 10 delicious food and service. We are thrilled to have such a nice place to stay in CC now. Love it even more that it's owned by local Bronco Billy's casino. Cherry on top was the slots paying. We are already planning our next stay. The only thing we did not like is that the fridge is not for personal use and you will potentially be charged for just opening it. That's ridiculous. read more

The rooms are superb! The Bistro Restaurant buffet is $45. Poor poor location. They have this set up in a conference room. No ambiance what so ever! Service is awful. Could not get drinks for 15 after we sat. No refills. Nothing special about food. "Chef" slicing prime rib could not understand English. He was frying all pieces even after you asked for rare. The review I'm giving is based on our own personal experience and our particular room. My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights. Check-in was flawless and the young girl at the front desk was adorable. She knew what she was doing, very knowledgeable and quick to give any answers we may have needed. Which weren't that many, if I'm honest. There's valet parking for your car and a bellman to bring your belongings to your room, but if you don't want to pay for either, there's no need. There is a free self-parking covered garage which is very handy. We were on the 9th floor, which was glorious because there was no one above us making "floor noises"...in fact the rooms are quite quiet. We heard very little hall noise outside our door. The room has tall blackout curtains that are divine. There are plenty of outlets for electronics and whatnot. The alarm clock on my side of the bed had two normal outlets on top, two phone charge connects on the front, and was a base for cordless charging if you just lay your device on top of it. There is a Nespresso coffee machine in the room with free coffee and creamer. Bottles of water are free. There is a refrigerator with sparkling water, liquor shots, champagne, wine, etc. A little tough to open and that is to protect children from accessing it. There's a recessed button at the bottom front of the door that you have to push in (a bit difficult) in order to get the door to open. This refrigerator is NOT used for your leftovers or whatever. It is a mini bar situation. No microwave in the room. We had a mini bar, but there were no items on it. If your room has a mini bar, you are allowed to lift something for 40 seconds, after which you will be charged for the item. There champagne and wine glasses. An ice bucket. Ice machine was right down the hall from our room. The television allows casting from your device, but has DIRECT TV and has plenty of channels to choose from. Easy to navigate. Free wifi. And I have never been a hotel that has had as fast a wife as this hotel has. 100mb upload/100mb download. Incredible! The comfort of the room is very nice. The bed has a soft pillow top, plenty of pillows, personal night lights on each side of the headboard. A smallish closet, but that's to be expected. The bathroom is well supplied. Bath robes, bath slippers, fluffy towels. The toilet room has a sliding door for privacy. The shower is roomy, has a hand-held nozzle in addition to the large shower head, good water pressure. And my personal favorite thing....it drains away from where you're standing so you're not standing in ankle-deep water. The bonus, if you're so inclined, is that the shower has a sliding door that opens into the main part of the room (of course there's a glass wall....you can't enter the shower from the room....but you can take a peak if you'd like....wink* wink* hehe) Overall, the room is not overly spacious. I'd call it Goldielocks size. There are much larger rooms and suites. But we didn't feel like we had to stand sideways to make it around the room. Temperature control was perfect. We sleep pretty chilly in a room....and it was very conducive to that. The casino (at least at the time of year we are here) was not really that crowded. We didn't eat here much. We had a dinner and a breakfast at the Home Cafe. Reasonably-priced, but the food was average at best. Edible, but could have been better. Although my hubs got the buffalo chicken wings and he said they were very good! And you get a good number of wings for the cost. I, on the other hand, got the wedge salad. Ummm, don't bother. The bacon wasn't fresh at all....more like off-brand bacon bits you'd buy at the grocery store. The iceberg was too much. And the blue cheese dressing tasted a bit like store-bought. Not disgusting, but not appetizing. The breakfast was decent, but again....not as tasty as we'd like for it to have been. The casino itself was well-maintained, easy to navigate, clean and, for this time of year, not very crowded. Of course, I'm sure come Labor day weekend in a few days, it'll be a different story. The town of Cripple Creek is quite a place. Such rich history. If you love history, do a little research before coming. The only thing we had time to do was the Mollie Katherine Gold Mine tour. DO IT!!! So informative, so well done. Patrick was our tour guide and you can tell he not only loves his job, but is very good at it. Very knowledgeable about the history of the mine. You go 1000 feet underground, so if you have issues with claustrophobia, you might think twice. Otherwise, just go and enjoy it! You'll be glad you did. Driving around Cripple Creek was very interesting. Like I said, the history is convoluted to say the least. The downtown is quaint and has several points of interest. Gift shops, eating places, little cafes, etc. We'd love to come back and do some of the other "attractions" in the area...and I dare say, we will stay here at Chamonix Hotel & Casino again. read more

The hotel check in was really smooth and easy. The room was nice and was interesting being able to see into the shower from the bed. The hotel was clean and we had a room on the top floor (9th) so we had a nice view. We highly recommend going to the steak house 980 prime. The GM was amazing! He made my bf a tequila old fashion at the table. The food was also delicious! I got king crab legs and he got a steak. When we checked in they told us not to use the fridge as everything was pressured censored. We went to the front desk after dinner asking what we should do with our leftovers....the woman at the front desk said we could rent a fridge for $30. This was so frustrating especially since the room was not cheap. Like take whatever drinks are in the fridge out and let the customer use the fridge. I wish we would have checked out the pool but didn't have time. Also as we were cleaning up our stuff there was someone from the cleaning staff come knock on our door prior to 11am. Drove down from Denver and stayed overnight. I was impressed with the lobby, number of food/bar options & the room overall was very clean, new, with great towels/shower. The casino was ok - had some luck in the high limit room and walking into some of the casinos on the Main Street. I would recommend for an overnight getaway to test your casino luck. We were offered a free night stay and booked a king deluxe room with a soaking tub. Our room was wonderful, the only real complaint is that robes would've been to have. The main lobby itself is quite nicely decorated and well-lit. My bigger issues mostly come with the growing pains that come with a newer hotel. For instance, there are no signs anywhere that tell you where to find the 'rooftop' pool - we only found out because we happened to lend up in an elevator with two members of the housekeeping staff. Additionally, we attempted to eat at the buffet but were told it would be quite a wait. I walked through to make sure it would be worth the $45 and was disappointed to find extremely minimal offerings (we chose to eat elsewhere). They push going to the cafe or cantina in the adjoining casino - Bronco Billy's - but as soon we crossed the threshold over there I caught a strong smell of cigarettes and it was so dark. The cafe was uninviting and the cantina appeared to be closed. I hope that if they do indeed have a partnership with Bronco Billy's they might renovate the space and make it more appealing. One more note: we wished there was a guide (or even a QR code that we could scan) in our room to tell us more about the hotel, its amenities, Cripple Creek, etc. read more

We were invited to stay two nights, but the hotel was not ready for guests. We were only informed of that after arriving and were told that there was a housekeeping issue and the rooms were not ready. This was New Year's Eve, so we planned to have a great party! We valeted the car, and stowed our luggage with the bellman. An hour later, we got a call that told us our entire two night stay was cancelled due to a broken water pipe. We chatted with several executives of the project, and they say the property is not complete, they can't staff it yet, and should be ready in a couple of months. first of all, I say that my friends and I felt that your hotel was and everyone was more than willing to help us out. Josh especially was so nice and kind after we could not get back in our room luggage was locked took us four hours to get our personal belongings delivered to a new room since the lock was broken on our door. They did give us $150 comp for food but I must the worst brunch I have ever in my life been to not anyone's fault just how it was. It would've been really nice if they would've offered a free stay in the future as it really did put us out for quite a while and we were all very tired. I'm not blaming the hotel. It's happens. In house Bronco Billy restaurant was very good and cost effective. 980 restaurant was prohibitively expensive. Watching the Super Bowl on our in-room (room 6221) was a BUST. Signal loss, frozen picture, audio not matching video. We went to Chamonix to ensure a high quality TV broadcast. NOPE. I talked to the front desk who said they can't do anything but "call IT". This place is a joke. Terrible management... terrible experience. Trying to create a "Vegas" casino in a town that doesn't want it and spearheaded by a CEO that has zero respect for the town, the locals and his own employees (I've met him and he has nothing nice to say about anything and is a typical money hungry executive). We have tried to enjoy it on several occasions but we just keep experiencing absolute nonsense and always find ourselves going to the other more "Cripple Creek" friendly casinos. The management doesn't seem to have any clue on how to do their jobs... ESPECIALLY the player services department. Their VIP rewards are minimal and never delivered properly. They used to have a few awesome player services employees but most have quit... leaving us with just one decent guy and this other southern woman who is a complete moron!!!!! (Honestly I've never met a dumber more useless individual... talking to her is severely frustrating). The restaurants are always closing or understaffed and the food isn't great. They used to have a stellar hotel staff but couldn't keep them. They started out with a great entertainment calendar but the last few shows have been missing something... what happened to that tall guy who used to be there!?!? We almost always see people arguing at the front desk.... and try as you like to make the place beautiful but overall that's all they have... an expensive hotel that is almost always empty and a complete inability to deliver a four-star experience. Unsatisfactory business experience. Terrible customer service. We reserved a room through our player account, and en route, we received a call informing us that the room type we booked was not available at the promotional rate, and they offered us a downgrade instead. There was a system error that allowed us to book an upgraded room, which we were really looking forward to, and the hotel should have honored our original booking. Their website allowed us to reserve that specific room type. We booked directly with hotel, not third party website. This is their mistake. Another solution they offered was to cancel completely. The hotel is still getting going. Opened end of December 2023. Our room was on the 7th floor facing the main street in Cripple Creek. The view was incredible! Little things such as no tissue in the tissue box, the buffet dinner ($45/person) was in a banquet room, the mini bar had a warning on it that if take something out and 40 seconds pass, you will be charged. The only thing in the mini bar were to small candies. I didn't touch them! Only one Robe in the room and it was a smaller size. The casino was fun! The blackjack tables were $25 and $10/bet with a fun twist of 3 card poker bet and a bust bet. Left the casino our money and still had a good time. Jeff was one of our favorite blackjack dealers. Marcus is the best! He works in the front lobby and understands customer service. The downside was that the hotel felt under staffed and needed finishing touches. Our room was over $300 for the night and in Cripple Creek that's a lot. I believe will go back and give them another try. read more

Beautiful Hotel and Casino........Decided we would like to stay here but had a couple simple questions (fridge,pool,check in). Called last week and got no answer at the front desk....hmmmm strange but figured they might be busy. Called back and hour later and still no answer. Sent them a message and gave them my contact info. Waited a few days (we were heading up on Saturday) and still no response. Left another message saying that we will gamble/stay elsewhere. I was then called back by a less than friendly staff member who let me know I can earn free nights if I gamble during the week????? I never asked anything about a free room......Our conversation was not great and I hung up. Just strange behavior from a business. Ill continue to gamble/stay at the Nugget . :) read more

So if you are a gambler and have been to good casinos this place has much room to grow. What I've encountered so far is nothing but subpar. From the casino host John John's to the manager of the hotel , I forget his name but it doesn't matter cause he was no help. My family wanted to come for a quick get away with our free room promotion, so we booked a room for a night drove up and here we are. It's midnight got here at 7pm, we booked a reservation at the steakhouse at 8:30pm because that was the earliest we could get in. In the meantime we went to the diner but the wait was an hour, we were told they were understaffed. After an hour we were sat ordered some food and it took it to go to the steakhouse because that's what we wanted in the first place. Waited 25 min at the steakhouse for our drink to be served then just left. If management really cares about the success to this property then take care of the little things. Like staffing your restaurants, my wife is a GM of a very successful restaurant and there is no excuse of why it takes over an hour to be seated at any of the restaurants on this property on a Sundaynight at 7 pm. After 2 attempts here I tried shame on me. I would love the managing partners to call me if they want to make more money. Cause you lost me. read more
