I came back about 30 minutes later, and they told me my order was almost ready. However, I noticed two new dine-in tables had already received their food. That was frustrating, so I sat down and waited another 10-15 minutes. I finally asked, "Where is my food? I may need to cancel the order if it isn't ready because I have a baby waiting in the car and I need to leave." She said, "No, no, no," ran to the kitchen, brought out my order, and apologized. I don't think I will be coming back because of the poor service. It felt like my takeout order was pushed aside and made after the dine-in orders, even though I had already been waiting. The worst part was the fish fillet with salt and pepper. It was not what I expected at all. The pieces were extremely thin and covered in a heavy coating. I honestly could not accept that this was the dish being served. I would like to know what Chinese restaurant normally prepares fish fillet this way. I also had the feeling that the order was rushed after I complained, which made the experience even worse. I've driven by on 54th countless times and always saw a little flag advertising Thai food. I was very surprised given that the only business I could was a liquor store. Today, I found that Mimi's is tucked away between a few businesses and decided to stop by. Immediately when I walked in, the environment felt welcoming and warm. I was seated by Mimi who loved to hear that I had found her online. While I waited to place I order, I watched numerous groups come in and greet Mimi. They were regulars and she treated them as close friends and family. I love to see when businesses are really integrated into the community they serve. I ordered a beef salad, pad thai, and green curry. Everything was excellent and also slightly different from all the other Thai restaurants I've tried (and I've tried a ton, esp in SD). It was all delicious and perfectly seasoned. The beef in the salad was flavorful and tender, and the pad thai sauce was unique in a way I cant quite describe. It's been a while since I've had a pad thai that stands out, but this one did. Mimi was particularly proud of her green curry as she makes the curry paste from scratch. I'm excited to try some of their other dishes next time! Alex, Mimi's husband also made an appearance to check in on me throughout the meal. Overall, they are both extremely kind and have such warm energy. They are so proud of their establishment and are genuinely excited to interact with their guests. These are the spaces in our community that we should all support and I look forward to coming back and seeing what Mimi and Alex have in store.

I was feeling a broth dish, and got their Chicken Tom Yum Noodle Soup. The broth and all the ingredients were cooked perfectly, and the noodles were a delicious rice noodle that soaked the broth well. The tom yum flavor shined throughout the meal and I loved it! Hope to be back soon, as the service was so friendly and the food really exceeded my expectations. I would absolutely call this Mimi's Thai restaurant in SD as a hidden gem.
