Consistently great every time. I've become a regular and keep coming back. I'm obsessed with their hot and sour soup, and the fried rice is also really good. I've enjoyed the sushi rolls as well. The honey walnut shrimp was a little too rich/sweet for my taste, and I'm not a huge fan of the orange chicken, but everything else has been excellent. This is by far one of our favorite restaurants in the area. This mom-and-pop (or rather, mom-and-daughter) gem serves delicious Chinese food. Our favorite dishes are the chicken lettuce wraps, Domo pan fried noodles, and Mongolian beef. Our extra picky son also loves the dumpling soup. Service is always excellent and fast whether you eat in or take out- we usually do take out. The restaurant's ambiance is unpretentious but in a good way where you feel like part of the family dining in. Domo Kitchen is a longtime Asian eatery located in the Ruffin Village of Kearny Mesa. I was running errands nearby and wanted to give them a try after driving past the business many times over the years. The dining room was empty when I arrived which wasn't a good sign. There were about twelve tables for seating, however at least four of them were filled with all kinds of clutter. They were being used as de facto storage space. That along with the marquee sign above the suite being only half illuminated gave a bad initial impression. A two-sided menu sheet listed the Chinese cuisine while a paper order slip showed the sushi offerings. There were no accompanying menu photos, only a brief description of each item on the back of the slip. The Cut Rolls were discounted by 40% while the Special Rolls were 20% off. I wish places would just list the regular price without inflating them and offering a discount to give the illusion that it's a good deal. I picked two Special Rolls (Hawaiian, Spanish) as part of my meal. The Hawaiian was made up of imitation crab, avocado, cucumber, spicy tuna, green onion, sesame seeds, and ponzu sauce. I am not sure why it was named 'Hawaiian' as there was no component that reflected Hawaii. The roll was strangely cut into 11 segments instead of an even eight or ten. That made for the thinnest pieces I have ever experienced. The Spanish consisted of imitation crab, salmon, cucumber, cilantro, green onion, lemon, and ponzu sauce. This roll was cut into ten pieces. Both rolls were pretty ordinary. I also selected two hand rolls... Eel and Spicy Scallop. The eel was the best item of the evening. The scallops were drenched with hot sauce which wasn't how I envisioned this roll to be made. The protein usually has the spicy component blended into the mix. The service was acceptable, but what led to the downgraded rating was the aspects I described in the first paragraph. It made me feel like the owners didn't care much about the appearance of Domo Kitchen. read more

Domo Kitchen is in a different class. The incredibly friendly folks who run Domo make everything fresh and with real care. Their Singapore rice noodles are sooo satisfying... deep flavor, beautiful wok sear that you can taste in every bite. They peel fresh oranges every day for their bright, vibrant orange sauce. Fried items are lightly breaded and juicy, not heavily battered lumps. My wife really enjoyed their California hand roll, which was quite large. And we both loved the Tiger roll. Great food. It is very clear they marinate, then season, then hand dip all the chicken, the mix with an outstandingly delicious sauce. So far I've been here twice and each time has been memorable. The nice lady who greets us upon entering seems to know all of her customers. She remembers us too and that brings a smile to my face. First visit we tried several sushi rolls, chicken wings, kung pao combo and hot jasmine tea. The waitress was very helpful with suggestions and made us laugh with her honesty. Loved the red kung pao sauce, the seasoning on the chicken and the jasmine tea. Second visit we tried pork pot stickers, won ton soup, more sushi rolls (Hawaiian and salmon) and plum wine. Loved the dipping sauce for the potstickers, the broth in the soup and the spicy tuna on top of my Hawaiian roll. What I like about the sushi roll menu is they list all the ingredients for each roll. Stumbled across Domo when I was looking for a quick and easy meal to drown my traffic court woes that I could take to the beach where I was meeting a friend. I ended up getting the beef chow mein lunch special and it was everything I was craving, thick noodles with just the right amount of sauce and savory flavor, and the beef was tender and well-seasoned.
