This is an amazing camp with incredible staff. My son is not the type to take to new things easily, but he absolutely loved Champ Camp. He had a blast for three weeks out of the summer, did not get tired of it, and always wanted to go back every week. I have never seen him so motivated to participate in any activity. The instructors Josh, Ellie, and Trevor were outstanding. They were kind, supportive of the kids, fun, and professional. They made sure that my son wore his sunscreen and drank enough water, and made sure that all of the kids were happy and safe, and returned texts on the few occasions that I needed to communicate with them. This is such an amazing camp. I was a little nervous about sending my 4 year old who isn't a strong swimmer to a beach camp...but it was perfect. He had so much fun! We tried Champ camp this year at RB... my daughter, she's 8 now, attended MB last year and had a wonderful time, this year has been a great week! My daughter (age 5) went to Champ Camp for the first time this summer, and it was such an amazing experience! The first day I dropped her off, I felt a little bit like the day I dropped her off at preschool for the first time - nervous and excited for her, but worried about how her day was going to go. When I picked her up, she was thrilled, tired and excited to go back the next day. It was amazing hearing about all of the things she was able to do and how comfortable she was after just one day. The counselors are amazing, and always so kind and respectful. They engage the kids in a meaningful way and you can tell they really enjoy being there with them. We love Champ Camp! While there are quite a few choices to be made for beach camps in the South Bay, Champ Camp is it for our family - they rock! They are more reasonably priced and I love their location. Trevor runs a tight ship and is very organized, which is awesome. Our daughter first went as a 5-year old and she loved every minute of it. I picked her up happy, sandy, tired and couldn't wait for the next day. Trevor and his team are great and I love that they genuinely enjoy the kids with the way they interact with them - attentive, professional and patient. The camp has activities to fit all ages and interests and they can be as active as they want to participate. And what would be a beach camp without the fun water activities?! I sent my four-year-old grandson to Champ Camp the second session of 2017 in Manhattan Beach. The camp is so well run that I was instantly reassured. They've got great security and assembly line drop off and pick up which makes it so easy. They are serious about sunscreen and each child gets sunscreen reapplied carefully by a counselor. They did a better job than I would do and there wasn't a pink spot on my grandson after a week. The children have a variety of things they can do on the sand: ball playing, bracelet making, sand castles, tie-dying and more. My grandson loved the water play most of all. Although he can't swim and was afraid of waves, they had him out on a boogie board the first day and he was thrilled. The counselors are the finest I've ever seen. My grandson has social anxiety problems and is extremely withdrawn. Trevor kept me advised every day as to his progress. One time, I spied on the camp from the Strand with binoculars. My grandson, standing off by himself, was approached by several different counselors 7 times in 20 minutes. The counselors were patient and encouraged him to participate...just what he needed. The Champ Camp counselors really care about kids and go out of their way to make sure everyone has a good time. The kids were having a blast. When a child wants to do something which no other child wants to do, I saw counselors playing with them one on one -- ball, coloring and crafts. Even though my grandson had a thermos of cold water in his backpack, I saw the counselors give him cups of water to make sure he was hydrated. The ratio of counselors to children is excellent and there are always a couple of counselors close to any child. At pickup, the kids were sandy, tired but so happy. My daughter went to Champ Camp the month of August and she had a BLAST!! She had a chance to play fun team games and learn to boogie board, all in a safe & well cared for environment. She was always in the care of a counselor and was never out of sight. They are not kidding when they tell you the kids will come home tired, because they are always engaged in some fun activity. My 7 year old daughter attended the Playa Del Rey session for a few weeks this summer as well as last. I'd recommend this camp to any and all. She absolutely loved every minute of it. Champ Camp is AMAZING!!! The Staff are so professional and friendly. You can feel safe leaving your kids at this camp because they are in good hands. Our son had an upset stomach one day & Trevor called my husband and myself to make sure we were both aware of it. Champ camp is by far the BEST CAMP in the South Bay. My son looks forward to summer, specifically because he loves champ camp so much! The camp counselors are not only fun, but they are extremely kind and patient. They are also on top of it.... it's one of the only camps that truly takes the time to make sure the kids reapply sunscreen and drink water. My kids (4 and 6) adored their week at Champ Camp Summer 2017 in MB. I've never seen them so excited to go anywhere! My son even cried a little on the last day because he wanted the fun to keep going! The staff has great energy and my kids had nothing but great things to say. Honestly, I was very nervous about sending our four-year-old daughter to champ camp but she is obsessed with the ocean. I can't say enough wonderful things about Trevor and his staff. Safety (my biggest concern) is taken extremely seriously and I felt comfortable dropping her off with the team each day. When I picked her up, she was exhausted from her day but not so much so that she couldn't give me the run down of all the fun and excitement she had. I meant to write this review last summer, but since I just dropped off my kids (ages 6 and 9) and their friends off earlier at Champ Camp, I thought that it would be a good time to write something now! Trevor and the staff do an amazing job with the kids at Champ Camp. Every day, the kids come home exhausted from the day's activities, but can't wait to go back the next day. The staff is very involved with the kids and get to know each and every one of them. There are choices for activities so that the kids can pick and choose what they would like to do. My 9 year old had such an amazing time last year that she is returning this year with her little brother, and 8 friends! I can't say enough about the wonderful customer service received. Trevor and his team go above and beyond to make both the kids and parents feel comfortable about Beach Camp (many parents become concerned about their kids spending all day at the beach and in the ocean). This is the 2nd year that my 6 and 7 year old have been to Champ Camp and the first year for my 4 year old. They all love it and are already talking about going back next year! The staff is wonderful. Super, super nice! But more importantly, they are very attentive to the kids and diligently look after them in the water. I took a peek at my kids during water time. They have staff in the water and all around the kids so I felt very comfortable with my Children in the water, especially since my 4 year old was'nt completely water-safe. My older kids also enjoyed playing the various games of volleyball, tag ,etc. I have told my friends about Champ Camp and their kids loved it just as much as mine. There are several beach camps dotting all across the South Bay but this is the best camp for us. Looking forward to coming back next Summer!! read more

All 4 of my kids went to this camp this year and raved about it. Came home every day exhausted from pure fun and great entertainment by the counselors. Their philosophy of allowing kids to choose activities versus dictate activities was very well received by my kids. Yeah! Champ Camp. My son and his friend had a great week. They had happy smiles and stories everyday. Often my son doesn't go into detail about his day. It has to be tweezed out of him like pulling a splinter. But not Champ Camp. He talked about it every evening of camp and into the next week. He had jokes and stories from the activities. He definitely wants to go back next year. He's also much more comfortable and excited about the ocean. This was actually a good way to warm him up to Jr. Life Guards in a year or so as he now views the ocean as a big adventure vs. a shark infested, rip tide! Thank you! read more

Our kids love it and with the flexible hours, it is great for working parents. You really have to make sure your kids are lathered up in quality sunscreen before you drop them off. That's my only tip. Besides that, it's great fun! read more

I have 3 children and we have done other beach camps in Manhattan Beach for years but have chosen Champ Camp this summer after our great experience with them last summer!Last summer I decided to sign up my two boys ages 4 and 7 (at the time) for this beach camp. They were advertising a really great special and camps are pricey so I took advantage of this special. It was a hard decision after sending my 7 year old and my daughter who's a few years older to another beach camp nearby for years.I was so impressed by Champ Camp!As the previous review says, the staff was super friendly, upbeat and engaging!I was a little nervous to send my kids to the camp all day as it ended at 4pm. I thought they would for sure get bored and sad. I had never sent my kids to camp that long. When I picked them up they were so happy and so excited about their day.My 8 year old couldnt wait to tell me everything they did each day. Two of the days they were at camp I ran by camp and observed from the strand. I love what I saw. The councelors were all engaging and playing with the kids. Everyday they played new games! My sons loved it!.My 8 year old son left his lunch in the car one day and when the head counselor Trevor, discovered this he called me right away.He even met me up at drop off so I didn't have to park the car and walk down.I was also impressed at how clean my kids were when I picked them up.Sand doesn't bother me as we live in a beach town but my kids were really not too sandy and i know they were rolling around in it. Their belongings were also put neatly back in their bags.Their beach towels were even folded! I carpooled with some other friends who did Champ Camp the same week.When I had all 6 boys in my car I asked them on the last day if they were happy or sad camp was over they all screamed "sad"!!!Champ Camp rocks! Had 2 boys in camp this week and one of my son's buddies from Orange County. All 3 boys (ages 5 and 8) had a great time. I stayed at the beach after drop off with my toddler a few of those days and was really impressed with Trevor's dedication (think he's the owner). This was week 7 of camp and he was still friendly, energetic, dedicated, responsible and went out of his way to ensure every child had a great time. You would see staff walk back and forward to get water for the kids to play with in the sand. Give kids piggy back rides to the bathroom or during games if they were too little or tired to run themselves but still wanted to play. They played lots of different games, made bracelets, went boogie boarding, 'decorated' the pop up tent with markers etc etc. If you're looking for a week of fun at the beach with your kids I don't think it can get any better than this camp. Staff was dedicated, upbeat, caring and responsible. And that's not something you would see at many other camps out there. read more
