Thank you South Bay Archery for a great experience! I came for a birthday party. We had a lesson with Coach Paul and Coach Lani. They were both fun and patient and had all of us hitting targets in no time. Would absolutely come back again.

a friend brought me here and I didn't think I would like it but it turns out that it was fun and interesting. We learned a lot and I think I got better and better at it as the evening went on. if you are looking for something unique and fun in the South Bay, give this a try.

Paul was a great instructor with practical and funny anecdotes. He focused on the positive and pivoted my mindset anytime I doubted myself. His immediate feedback helped improve my aim and muscle memory. He used various targets to keep my aim consistent. This is a GREAT place to introduce yourself to archery.

    13 year old learning.

Fantastic morning learning archery with Coach Paul and Lani. Very methodical and safe, particularly in relation to Covid. We learned great technique with an emphasis on positive reinforcement. We'll be back!

Paul made the entire experience so memorable and fun. He is a great instructor, who knew how to explain what corrections to make. Was so cool to see everyone gradually improve throughout the lesson! Went for my brother who was a natural at archery and had a great time. He even hit a "Robbin hood" so cool. Thank you!

    Perfect bullseye !

The staff is so kind and patient while teaching The correct form and technique, always giving positive feedback. I was even able to shoot a perfect Bullseye using a right handed bow and arrow said even though I am left-handed for mostly everything ‍! Thank you to Paul and Lani for helping to create wonderful memories! We recommend it to anyone is a great bonding moment for friends and family!

Finally, years later in the present, a local archery club referred me to Coach Byron Burkhardt and Trident Archery as a great place to learn. For a 'father-daughter date', we signed up for their intro class and had a great experience! Coach Byron and Coach Hawk (aptly named!) walked us and a dozen others of all ages through the basics. I quickly realized there was more to archery than simply 'nock and shoot'. Afterwards, my daughter expressed enthusiasm for more, and we signed up for Trident's Beginning Class, composed of 4-sessions. Spreading these out weekly, we've been attending, learning and having fun! Coach Byron is passionate about the sport, and it shows in his interesting insights, stories and taking time to answer my novice questions. During a prior class, we even got to shoot at the goblin (Or was it an orc - perhaps an Uruk-hai learner)? Eat your heart out, Orlando Bloom! Our plan is to advance to the 18-meter class (Intermediate level) and eventually earn the right to get our own bows. We are very happy with Trident, and highly recommend it for everyone (It is an activity for all abilities - one of the greatest archers in the world shoots with his legs and feet - he has no arms)!

Robertson…read moreArchery is the latter--a tucked-away temple of bows, strings, and quiet concentration that feels older than Los Angeles itself. Every time I'm in town, I carve out space for a lesson here. They don't just hand you a bow and send you to the range. They break it down--stance, breath, grip--without condescension or ego. From absolute zero, they had me loosing arrows with something resembling grace, and over time, they've built me into a halfway decent archer. That's not just instruction; that's craft. The gear side is no less impressive. Advice here isn't about upselling--it's about finding the bow, the arrows, the finger tabs that actually suit you. The staff talks from the heart, from decades of pulling strings and hitting targets, not from a sales script. And the vibe? Generous, patient, and real. You're not judged for being a beginner. You're not rushed. You're simply folded into the ritual of a practice older than most religions. For someone like me, who arrives a tourist and leaves a little bit better than before--that's gold. Robertson Archery isn't just a shop or a range. It's a reminder that in a city built on surface, you can still find depth. Come here. String a bow. Let the arrow fly.

Our instructor was very informative and helpful throughout the class. We also benefit from having a trainee in class where he was shadowing the main instructor. He was helpful with assisting and correcting our form. I was in a group with 9 other people. Each group was led by an instructor and taken to their own shooting area to learn the etiquette, rules, and how to shoot properly. He provides demonstrations and tips for correct shooting. After each demonstration, instructor invited the group to the line to practice shooting. Instructions were very clear and helpful. At the end, they provide balloons as targets to shoot. If you were able to pop the balloon, you get a cool pin. After the class was done, the instructor gave us a card to show proof that we've taken the first class, and we can sign up for the returning class if we decide to. Parking is limited.
