Wanted pizza that wasn't so much the "cheap" kind and have been wanting to try this place. We had it delivered and it arrived just fine in a timely manner. I decided to build my own so it was exactly what we would want and it came with plenty of each and every topping. Really fresh veggies on it too. Really nice crust and tasted delicious. We went with the largest so we'd have plenty of leftovers that reheated perfectly. This writer is a pizza snob - in other cultures, recognized as an aficionado. As such, it was my sworn duty to find all kinds of thing wrong with pizza dispensed by a chain. And I tried - I really, really tried to find something wrong. The results were completely disappointing - I could find NOTHING wrong with Champ Pizza. Their slogan is, "It's the dough." Anyone who knows pizza knows that it's not the dough, or the cheese, or the sauce, or the toppings - it takes a successful marriage of all of those ingredients to make a good pizza. However, it only takes one of those ingredients to ruin an otherwise potentially great pizza. In the case of Champ Pizza, all of their ingredients come together in a perfect symphony of flavors. On my maiden voyage, I ordered the Canadian Bacon and Pineapple (I TOLD you I tried to hate this place!), fully expecting the same bland cheese mixture, tasteless Canadian Bacon, and pineapple that fought the sauce and lost. Instead, I was rewarded with a perfect crust topped with flavor, edge to center. Because I don't believe in fruit on pizza, I can safely say that this is the best CB & P I've ever had! The service is excellent - friendly and efficient, the ridiculous price (for any pizza anywhere) is, in this case, worth it, and they stock Ruby Jewel Ice Cream Sandwiches. As for the place itself, it's designed for fast service - the chairs are hard, but with a mere 12-minute wait from order to departure, no complaint. It's hard to give a poor rating, but when missing items in the orders becomes a standard experience, it's unfortunately warranted. I've been ordering delivery from the Milwaukie location for quite a while on a weekly basis because the pizzas, wings and breads are delicious. All has been great until recently. Over the last 4 weeks there have been some notable changes which are driving me to find a new alternative. The last 4 times I've ordered delivery from this location, I've had missing items from my orders which have resulted in the driver needing to go back, pick up the items, and make another delivery. A recent order which included 1 lb of the boneless wings resulted in a 1/2 lb order being delivered with 2 sides of marinara dipping sauce. I never ordered marinara and would never dip a wing in marinara! Not sure why the person putting that together didn't even question what they were doing. During my last order the missing items never made it to my door even after calling to make them aware items were missing from order AGAIN. I was asked what I wanted them to do about it and said I'd like the missing items delivered since I had already paid for them. Nada. Items never delivered. Even the bread sticks have been reduced in size recently which seems like a poor money grab since this is probably one of the cheapest items to make. Ordering delivery food has become quite expensive given the cost of the food times, delivery fees, and driver tips. If you're reading this, Champ, focus on a final review of the order being complete before the delivery drivers head out the door. Should be an easy fix, but after sending direct feedback to this location, the issue continues. The delivery drivers have always been very friendly and nice, so kudos to having a good delivery team. Edit 12/15/2023 Knowing I had great experiences with Champizza prior to my sequence of bad experiences, I tried another delivery order and the crew pulled through! I'm adjusting my rating back up and hope my bad experiences were a thing of the past. I first found out about Champ from a personable pizza delivery kid in my neighborhood. He told me that it was way better pizza than those other unmentionable joints--I give Champ the best rating because it was truly a mom and pop type feel as you walk in the door. My dog pulled loose of me and ran into their kitchen! Not only was I not scolded, but everybody seemed to be amused by his bold shenanigans! I'm really excited that Champ Pizza has a closer location to my house. I've order from their McLoughlin location before. Ordered a large sausage and onion pizza with Buffalo wings. Solid wings, but the pizza which was suppose to be the star didn't shine that night. More crust than pizza and the dough was mealy/underbaked. Also try the Meat Lovers, with salami, multiple kinds of pepperoni and sausage. A real treat, and loaded so heavy that the crust was a little floppy. This location has messed up every order we have placed except one. The cheese seems to have more plant cellulose than other pizza shops in the same price range (Cheap cheese). The veggies did come nice and fresh though, and I do like the pepperoni they use. I am a 3rd generation local who has eaten at almost every pizza shop this city has to offer. From hammy's to Ken's and even most the fast food style pizza locations around town. I would rate this place a solid 4.2/10 but only 2 stars as I don't generally like a 5 point system as its not a very good indicator. Hire some employees with better work ethics and experience. Hit a slight hiccup using a coupon I received in the mail but when I brought it up in store, staff politely explained what happened. Pizza was good, wife called it hearty, and like others said on here, quality ingredients. Coconut was a bit strange on this but if you like sweet, go for it. Still happy with the za and the sticks. Tried Champ Pizza for the first time at their King Road Milwaukie location. Really good pizza. Definitely a good crust, better than most places, flavorful too. We had 2 of their standard menu pizzas, the Italian but with no pepperoni, and the Hawaiian. Both were really good pizza combinations. Husband always wants more sauce, and the sauce was really tasty, but ask for a little extra on the side if you love your sauce, I don't want to risk my perfect crust personally. Folks there were very kind and friendly too. We'll be back. I want to try their different bread sticks, like the cheesy jalapeno ones. I was very excited when Champ Pizza moved in next door to Mo Betta Deli, one of my favorite delis, on King Road - down the way from my house. So, I was eager to try their pizza. They have a great lunch deal - a medium, one topping pizza and a drink for $9.99 between 11am and 2pm. So, I tried them for lunch - and was really impressed. The sauce is good. Not too sweet, but a nice, robust tomato taste. And, cheese. They put a nice amount of cheese on. Hot, gooey, and oh-so-tasty. The crust was solid, and for a one-topping pizza, it had a good amount of the topping (in this case, mushrooms). I was super happy with it and will be getting an XL pizza this weekend to watch the Blazers game. Really digging this place, so I'm giving it five stars. I was not disappointed, and happy to have them in the neighborhood. read more
