Charred Brussels Sprouts: bone marrow, saffron-pine nut aioli, salsa verde, farro, pickled leeks, ciabatta crostini

We went to Ken's Artisian Pizza to celebrate a birthday, and this place truly lives up to its hype. As we waited for our table, we tried some of their drinks and they were very delicious. The Gin & Tonic and the Old Fashioned were specially good. The Charred Brussels Sprouts and the Cesar Salad as appetizers were delicious. We tried the Prosciutto, Mortadella & Pistachio and the Lamb Sausage pizzas. The wood fire gives a charred thin crust taste and the high heat cooks the fresh toppings to perfection. It took a little while for our large party to get seated, but the staff was amazing and kind and the service was quick once we were seated. The ambiance is good with high energy as everyone enjoys their food here. Will we definitely be back!

The food is worth the wait. We arrived at 5-6pm on a Friday and waited for about 1h. While we were waiting we were able to order a bottle of wine. The Cesar salad was so good and fresh. The pizza is thin and crispy, toppings are perfect.

Finally made it to Ken's on a spectacular Spring day. Everything I had was terrific: Ken's Classic drink (N/A), Farm Greens salad, Prosciutto Pizza. Marinara sauce on pizza and meatballs is absolutely amazing. The space inside is bright and airy, plenty of windows. Lot's of outdoor tables also. And the service was outstanding. Definitely on my very short list of absolute favorite spots in PDX!

5 stars all the way. Ken's Artisan Pizza is the kind of place that reminds you how good pizza can be when it is done right. The crust has that perfect balance, flavorful, beautifully blistered, and just the right mix of chewy and crisp. Every pie feels thoughtful and well made, with quality ingredients that really stand out. This is not just pizza to fill you up, it is pizza worth slowing down and enjoying. Portland has plenty of good food spots, but Ken's has earned its reputation. If you are looking for a true pizza joint that delivers on flavor and consistency, this is absolutely one of the places to go.

came here with a group of 7 so we were able to try a variety of pizzas. we started with the meatballs which had a nice texture but were too salty. the margarita was good but nothing special. mushroom had a good flavor and was very umami. I was super excited to try the mortadella and pistachio because I love it in the sandwich form but in pizza form it was odd. the mortadella itself wasn't my favorite. another one we were all excited for was the prosciutto but this one lacked flavor and was lackluster. the lamb and fennel was strong and forward but may not be the best option for those who are sensitive to lamb and fennel. the brooklyn was my personal favorite as the salty meat paired perfectly with the honey. from a place with such high accolades, I expected more but the flavors were underwhelming. service however was warm, friendly, and attentive.

When I think of Portland, I don't think of this city as having a great pizza scene. There were once some great pizzerias of the past, but sadly they are no longer around. However, this is not the case with Ken's Artisan Pizza. If you're not familiar with Ken's, they've been around for 20 years and have never disappointed. This is the reason why it's a good idea to get here 45 minutes before they open. Otherwise, you're going to be waiting a couple hours just to get a table. I had been to Ken's several times in previous years, but this time my wife came with me. Once again, Ken's did not disappoint. I went with the Fennel Sausage and Onion pizza. This is a pizza with tomato sauce, mozzarella, sausage, roasted onions, basil. This pizza has always been on the top of my list. My wife went with the New Yorker. This pizza has tomato sauce, mozzarella, O.P. capicola, pickled jalapeno, and Mike's Hot Honey. I will say this was a surprise. There were some amazing flavors, but when you tasted the Mike's Hot Honey, that little bit of sweetness made this pizza over the top. I will be ordering this pizza in the future. All of Ken's pizzas are wood fired. You can easily watch them being cooked, just depending on where you're sitting. It's hard to beat the wood fired crust. Ken's has a great comfortable atmosphere. You can come here dressed up on a date, or relaxed. The service here is always great as well. I know there is decent pizza around Portland, but if you're looking for a great pizza. Get an early start and head on over to Ken's Artisan Pizza.

10/10 experience visiting from California easily one of our favorite spots in Portland! We tried the Margarita, New York, Brooklyn, and Sausage pizzas, and every single one was amazing. Great flavor, perfectly made pizzas, and the service was just as good. Highly recommend!

The hype of this place precedes it making it a bit of a letdown when you get something less than perfect. If you plan on going, avoid a Saturday or Friday evening because it's a madhouse. The pizza is quite good though not the best I've had in Portland. It's right up there with the best however. The price is high when there's a few other places in town that have just as good if not better for a bit less money. However, the staff is amazing and friendly as can be. Friendliness can go a long way when it comes to an experience of any establishment. These people genuinely care about their patrons. I definitely will return at some point. It's something I had to try and cross off my bucket list. I really liked the New Yorker with pepperoni added. As far as a top shelf pizza establishment with a woodfired oven, I would've hoped for a little less char (though some is necessary.) the dough was a little chewy and not as fluffy as I would've liked it to be, though it was better than most in Portland. The nonalcoholic lemonade mocktail was basically just lemonade for nine dollars with a slice of cucumber with a wilted basil leaf in it. I felt obligated to order a drink while we're waiting for about 45 minutes to an hour. I have no problem waiting for something good on a busy night. This place is definitely a must go to for anyone visiting Portland. Locals know not to go at peak days and peak hours. Kudos to this establishment for surviving when a lot of other Portland establishments die off from hard times. Support them!

Some pizzas were really good and some were just OK. I was lucky enough to try multiple pizzas as my large group each ordered a different item. But, before we get into the pizza, let's talk appetizers. The meatballs - 5/5! The sauce they used on the meatballs was amazing. I would say some of the best sauce I have ever had, to the point where I wanted to eat it off the plate. The Caesar was OK - nothing to write home about. The calamari - some pieces were a bit chewy. The brussel sprouts were not memorable, to the point that I forgot about them in this review until I saw a photo I took of them. Now let's talk pizza. I wanted to try something different since everyone at my table was getting something relatively normal. I tried the lamb sausage. It was good, but it laughed cohesiveness and complexity. It was almost like they said "these things works together they'll be fine on a pizza" and they did work. They just didn't benefit each other. On the other hand, when it comes to the best pizza; I was able to try the Brooklyn. That pizza is a five out of five. I really enjoyed the mix of flavors. I was also able to try other flavors of pizza like the mushroom, soppressata and more. They were good, but not the best pizza I've ever had. I do wish this location took reservations, as it was a challenge to wait for a table for such a large party. Overall, I would return however I would not say that this is the best pizza I've had but if you're feeling somewhere casual and want great meatballs with good pizza, I would recommend this location.

Coming from Los Angeles, we know good pizza, and Ken's absolutely lives up to the hype. The place gets packed fast. We arrived about 30 minutes before opening and there was already a line forming, which quickly grew even longer by the time the doors opened. Once they opened, we were seated right away, but the restaurant stayed busy the entire time, definitely a testament to how popular it is. We started with some wine, the meatballs, and a couple of pizzas, and everything was fantastic. The flavors, quality, and overall experience were well worth the wait. If we're ever back in Portland, this will absolutely be a must-visit spot again.

This is worth the $ but not worth waiting in long lines for. Be smart and order a pie to go. Only wait if you don't have a hunger that is the size of a black hole. I will always get a pie from Ken's if I can, but they get so insanely busy. When we do eat here we head here when they open! No risks. Park on hawthorne and walk up. My favorite is the fennel and sausage pizza, Ken's artisan pizza, and the pepperoni. The pizzas are good for sharing so you ONLY need 1 but will WANT 2. Get two and bring left overs home!!!

i came from LA and this was on my list. i had high expectations from the reviews and pictures. went on a Thursday at 6pm, the place is packed, which is expected from such a popular pizza place. we were a party of 2 and we were told to wait a bit while they clean the tables. a family walked out with a box (this was very vivid in my memory) and they said that we can take their table jokingly. anyways, we got sat in the back, where the other door was (but ofc it was locked). the place is a little tight but that didn't bother us. first waitress was nice and got us our food. we ordered two pizzas, new yorker with pepperoni and the Margherita. pizza is delicious! i'm giving it a 3 stars because of the vibe i received from another waitress. i didn't get her name but she was very monotone, not enthusiastic to be serving us, and was mainly just standing there? we only had half a pizza that needed to be boxed up. she asked if we wanted us to box it up and we said yes while paying for the bill. but we were surprised and thought it was odd when we received our leftovers in aluminum foil .... i asked if it's possible to put in a box and she said "uh sure". overall if i was judging the whole experience, it was kind of weird we got seated in the back where the supplies are (empty tables in the front btw), didn't get asked how we were doing, while the table next to us had an employee talking to and joking about their wine selection. we didn't feel satisfied with customer service..

Being in the top 50 is amazing right here rin PDX. Went on a Wednesday evening so it wasn't busy with a wait, we got sat pretty quickly for walk-in. There is a waiting bar for drinks before you are sat so that is nice. It's very busy here but still intimate either on a date or with family/ friends. Very cool that the pizza stove is in the middle too. The Cesar salad being uncut was also interesting in a good way. I enjoyed the hot honey pizza the most (Brooklyn).

Ask the Community - Ken's Artisan Pizza

I came in last week to ask for a copy of my receipt that I misplaced. The server here took down my name, number, and email and said that they would send it over the next day. I have yet to hear back from you guys. Where can I contact staff?

If it is important to you, go back in person again and ask But this time wait until they print it out and hand it to you. If it is not that important to you, let it go.

Are there vegan options for pizza?

    Of course.

Do they have gluten free pizza?

I have not seen any option for a different crust.

The pizzas appear burned black in the photos. Is this the case?

With a wood fired oven at times you do get some black areas on the outer crust; this is very typical for this style of pizza. The pizzas don't taste burnt and they taste amazing IMHO.

New York and Chicago are still trying to catch up. But we are in the Pacific Northwest, nowhere near Loui's Pizza or Buddy's Pizza (Detroit pizza staples). So many times, what tries to pass off as "Detroit style" falls miles short. Then came "Ranch" where I stood outside and screwed up enough courage to try yet another Detroit style pizza. The interior was small, one wall lined with tomato sauce cans, the menu was bolted to a wall. The smell took me back and that gave me some hope. The pizza arrived at the table, the wife and I have varied tastes so we each ordered a quarter pizza. Mine was pepperoni, the wife had a veggie. The pizzas looked right, square, caramelized crispy edges, heavy toppings... and then on the side of the plate was this cup of ranch dressing. Duh! "Ranch" obviously has to have a good ranch, right? I dipped my pinky finger in the ranch and took a taste. You would not think one ranch can be so far ahead of the others, but ranch is the place for ranch, as well as pizza. My first bite brought a smile to my face, it was just, right in every way that a Detroit pie should be. I have been back to try their #4 pie with sausage and ricotta, and I am looking forward to more trips. If all that was not enough, the service was friendly, the food came out so quick (about 10 minutes) and the place was nice and clean.

Whether it was the lack of sauce, the sauce itself being quite bland, or simply an imbalance of flavors, the end result just wasn't pleasant. The biggest issue is the value. A $25 cheese pizza doesn't need to be life-changing, but it should at least taste better than Costco's. In this case, unfortunately, it didn't. The cheese and toppings tasted fresh, and I especially appreciated that they offer half slices, which made it easy for my husband and me to try a few different varieties without committing to full slices. That said, I think my expectations may have been a little too high going in. The pizza was definitely good, but I wasn't quite blown away the way I expected to be based on all the hype. For me, the cheese were the weakest part--wasn't bad by any means, but it didn't stand out compared to some of the other pizza spots we've visited around the country. Sauce was just okay, I like mine a little more flavorful. The vibe was fun and memorable. They were blasting metal music when we walked in, which definitely gives the place some personality. The employee helping us was incredibly friendly, offered recommendations, and even suggested other places for us to check out while we were in town. If memory serves me correctly, they also seemed to have a lot of vegan and vegetarian options, which is always nice to see. At the end of the day, Sizzle Pie is exactly what I think a neighborhood pizza shop should be: good pizza, no fuss, and plenty of options. While it wasn't my favorite pizza in Portland, I'd still happily stop in again for a slice.

I was hoping they would have a vegetarian option, but I didn't really see one yesterday I think the space is cute and fun and super Portland vibes. I got a slice of cheese and it was delicious. My test for a slice of cheese is usually when the crust holds up straight. This one didn't do that. I think the soda machine was broken, but the customer service wasn't too bad and the prices were about five dollars for a cheese slice I think I would go back. I think it just needs a little bit more excitement in there. Also felt a little bit musky
