We've been here before in fact at this exact location as it's across the street from Powell's City of books. The pizza is usually good, it's a joint that has pies on display and they reheat slices as they are ordered... so the key is to look at all the pies and pick the freshest looking ones. The pepperoni in the display case looked like the freshest one so I ordered three slices. My friend ordered 1 cheese and 1 pepperoni after me. He received his slices first, in fact not only did he receive his slices first but he was done eating when we finally received ours... and you would think after waiting all that time we would have got some fresh slices; but that wasn't the case. The slices we received tasted like they were three days old and reheated three different times. The crust was so hard and crisp it disintegrated when you bit into it and they threw a few new shreds of mozzarella on top to make it look fresher (look at pictures). I have heard about this place for a long time and my companion was craving pizza. Line moved quickly. The cashier messed up in order, but redeemed herself with a free pizza slice. Sizzle pie good. It's like a classic corner spot. On a sunny day the light comes in and you can sit down and enjoy the outdoor seating. Right across from Powell's books this location is awesome. It makes for a great Instagram story. The pizza flavors rotate, and you ordered the counter after you look at the menu/pizzas that they have for the day. Look, you're not doing me a favor by existing and selling your garbage pizza. A couple Christmases ago I was on my own that day and y'all were running a buy one get one free special for any size. Sizzle Pie in Portland,OR was a treat for a late night grab. Pizza was hot and the staff there was very nice even at the late hour. My only complaint would be the cleaning of the dining area. I miss the Schuyler & East Burnside locations, but I'm very happy we still have the West Burnside & Hollywood locations available in my immediate area. I've been eating Sizzle Pie since I first arrived in Portland in 2012 & I can say their best pizzas are the best pizzas I've had. While the menu has shrunk along with the reduction in locations, I'll choose Sizzle Pie for a pizza before any other establishment. The New Maps Out of Hell is my very favorite pizza but I often customize my own as I've simply eaten so many of their regular menu standards that it's fun to experiment. My new favorite for vegan pizza! They have quite a few vegan options but every time I order the Grazing Arizona - vegan "chicken" and "bakon". Their "bakon" was so good I had to make sure it was really vegan! I had my non vegan friends try it and they were impressed and said they wouldn't have known it was vegan. I also enjoyed the spiral tap for a simple option. The restaurant seems like a cool vibe but I've only ordered to go. I love my pizza at home in pj's HAHA! Wow! I am so glad we stumbled in here after visiting Powell's Bookstore. We needed a place that my husband, me and my kiddos would all eat and boom! there was Sizzle Pie. The kids were boring and each got a slice of cheese (albeit very yummy slices of cheese) but my husband devoured his slice Napalm Breath and my Steve Cabarello was fantastic! Could have embedded the garlic in the dough to get more flavor but all in all good. Pepperoni pizza: 6/10 while it was greasy, the portions of pepperoni were solid. The major downfall was the crust. It got pretty hard and chewy after I picked up the pizza and brought it back to the office 30 min later. While a good pizza has a little crunch this had the crust had the texture of a crouton. All in all, this is late night pizza with the friends not a place I'd go to impress someone of the food in portland. I would personally choose quality over convenience but if you are looking for Convenience over quality, this could be a good spot. read more

Some people enjoy their Pizza floppy. I am not one of them. I believe that the crust should be thick and crispy enough to support the weight of the Pizza as I pick it up. unfortunately the crust on this pizza was only crispy around the edges and soft in the middle. The tallest man on earth slice had a good kick of spice, which was a nice touch, but the cheese didn't feel especially fresh or melty. The other slice of the spiral tap had good flavor but the cheese was mediocre the crust was too thin for my liking. The place was blaring some interesting edm, and the place was so busy and there were just piles and piles of pizzas waiting to be picked up. We have to go with the standard pepperoni for benchmark, and they had a special called ramen which was intriguing so we had to try it. The pizzas were a bit greasy, so they were not as crisp as I would have liked even though they were heated up. The pepperoni was good, good cheese to pepperoni ratio, no complaints. The ramen was not my favourite... it didn't look or taste anything like ramen. It has spring onions, pieces of meat (I think was pork), mushrooms and drizzles of I think a miso glaze? The glaze was so strong and funky, and I did not enjoy it. Without the glaze the pizza tasted okay but there was nothing resembling ramen. It was cheese, with some meat and veggies. There was no tomato sauce, so I don't even know if there was a base. I'm glad I got to check this off my list, but I will give some other pizzas places a try next time I'm in the area. read more
