    In house made fresh pasta!
    Greg R.

We love their sister restaurant next door so had high hopes for this place. It did not disappoint! Pizza was amazing (although I like it a little crispier) and the pasta is clearly fresh and homemade. Gelato is also made in house and worth the calories! Staff was perfect and the food truly was amazing.

    Mortadella pizza

I am very happy I added this food place to my itinerary. The staff were super nice and I liked the open kitchen concept where you can see the chef make your food. We ordered the Mortadella pizza topped with pistachios. It was delicious, my partner and I devoured it within 5 minutes. We added some of their chili oil and flakes and it was the perfect balance. We also had the Gemelli Noci e Gorgonzola. I recommend it if you are looking for creamy pasta. Overall I rate this place a 9/10

Portland pizza place #110. Pretty place, big windows. Excellent service. Very handsome pizza. Very tasty ingredients--had the solsiccia e funghi--most tasty sausage, good interplay of textures with the shrooms , peppers and cheese, minimal fresh tomato sauce/ the outer crust a little too soft inside, and the tips of hte slices, even when folded, would tip down (unless you flipped that over) & the cheese & toppings could slide off. maybe there's a trick to doing this and keeping yours hand clean.. maybe this crust was just a little underdone. and not saying I wouldn't come back for another.

don't get the carbonara, saltiest pasta i've have in my whole life. they give you enough to feed a 6 year old child, servings also extremely inconsistent. we ordered two for the table the other plate had at least almost double the proportion. the server placed down the smaller on in front of me that's all i got.

A nice cozy spot located in Downtown PDX. The place easily fills up during lunch with the lunch crowd and shoppers in the area. We ordered a carbonara and sausage and mushroom pizza to share. Both items were really good, but if I had to pick one, I would say their pizza is something to not overlook. It was well made with the crust having that chewiness and airy-ness that I like. I would gladly come back here to try some of their other items.

Came here after a very quick map search and without checking the menu as I figured pizza was pizza and my relatively picky dining companion and I would find something. I was in a rush but was very impressed by this place. The inside is cute, the service was excellent, and the pizza was interesting (and delicious!) as was their version of arancini. Would have loved to have had time for dessert. They weren't very busy thankfully and we got our pizza and appetizer very quickly. Would happily visit again.

Super yummy pizza! My friend and I stopped in for a quick bite while walking around the area and split a pizza and salad. The food came out quick and delicious! They also have plenty of different types of pizza and toppings to add on. Definitely planning on going back!

Popped in on a Wednesday evening about 30 min before they closed and the gentleman who took my order was very kind and friendly. I always feel bad walking in right before closing time, however, I wasnt made to feel like I was inconveniencing them. The interior looked very nice and if it wasnt for the time I would have eaten in. I placed my order to go and pizza was out in about 8 min. I ordered the sausage, mushroom and pepper pizza. Fortunately my hotel was just about 4 min away and the pizza held up very well on the walk. Pizza was delicious and crust was pillowy with a slight chew and char. Quality ingredients and the peppers added a nice subtle spice to help balance everything.

This place was a happy accident. My friend and I were dead set on eating Italian this night. We went to Carena's not realizing they'd closed permanently. It was not updated in Google and we were bummed. Then a lady came out of the shadows telling us about Musca. She let us know this is one of the best restaurants she'd been to and she was spot on. The food was sooo good. The space was small, but they found a table immediately. It was nicely decorated with wonderful service.

First off menu in the window was really helpful, I love places that do that. We were just walking by, we wondered what they cooked in there after reading the menu, we didn't have to wonder anymore. We walked right in. Now I'm gonna tell you about the service, really really good. I felt very cared for, even the way they placed the napkins in the silverware really shows a love of the craft. The food was great, very fresh ingredients, a few new things that we hadn't tried before and had a wonderful experience. We ordered two pizzas for three people, two orders of bruschetta and drinks, I had a wonderful Italian spritz, I recommend that for sure, my wife had one of the wines that were offered and my daughter who is under age had a soda out of the bottle, some Italian flavor with really good taste. Just go, you're gonna love this place.

10/10 would recommend! We tried three different appetizers and would order every single one again. That brushetta ... omg. The pizzas were insanely delicious. I can't wait to come back!

Bologna Love! Mortadella & pistachio pesto. Divine.
    Kim G.

I'm still dreaming about the Mortadella pizza we had last night! Thankfully, I brought a slice home and will enjoy later. This is the best pizza in Portland! With combinations I've only enjoyed previously in Rome. This particular pizza is listed on the menu as Bologna's Love, and it's aptly named! Get it! The mortadella, bologna, studded with pistachios, is placed over a base of pistachio pesto. Yes! Divine! And stracchino cheese, a superbly creamy cow's milk melting cheese, that adds to this pizza's creaminess, a delightful contrast to the lightly charred crust. When a friend invited me to dinner, I knew the pizza would be fantastic because it's the sister restaurant of Mucca Osteria, next door, arguably the best high end Italian restaurant in Portland. The pizza menu boasts many traditional Roman ingredients and combinations, in pizza form. For example, the Amatriciano is topped with delicious guanciale (pork cheek), carmelized onion, mozzarella, and Pecorino Romano, adding a salty flavor layer. Fabulous. We shared the Cesar salad, both of us exclaiming it was one of the best we ever had. Crisp romaine, noticable flavor bombs of minced anchovies with a creamy in-house dressing That I wish they bottled. We left no crumbs! Since we have different wine preferences, we enlisted the assistance of the Sommelier to select a wine. The Cab Franc she recommended was simultaneously light (few tannins) with rich berry notes. Perfection. For lunch they serve pasta, but only during lunch. And yes, that includes the 4 pastas of Rome, each of which I love for different reasons. Cacio e Pepe (Pecorino Romano and cracked black pepper) for the saltiness and simplicity; add gianciale for pork goodness and its Alla Gricio. Add egg yolks for richness and it's Carbonara. Sub tomatoes and onion for egg yolks and it's a tomatoe based Amateiciano. I need to visit 4 times so that I can enjoy each! Not kidding, thats a declaration. Inside is small and unassuming with an open view of the chefs doing their magic. The waitstaff is wonderful, friendly and efficient. This is new favorite casual restaurant. Located on SW Morrison between 9th & 10th, which is the street car route so there is no parking out front. Park at the Smart Garage on SW 9th, right before Morrison, and walk one half block up to restaurant on the right. This is legit pizza.

It took us a little bit of time to be seated... but the ambiance was great it is a casual pizzeria but a little bit more modernized and more chic! The service was great and they were all friendly! The food was amazing !!! There isn't too much chose from but all of what we ordered were all delicious! The pizza are amazing!

New York and Chicago are still trying to catch up. But we are in the Pacific Northwest, nowhere near Loui's Pizza or Buddy's Pizza (Detroit pizza staples). So many times, what tries to pass off as "Detroit style" falls miles short. Then came "Ranch" where I stood outside and screwed up enough courage to try yet another Detroit style pizza. The interior was small, one wall lined with tomato sauce cans, the menu was bolted to a wall. The smell took me back and that gave me some hope. The pizza arrived at the table, the wife and I have varied tastes so we each ordered a quarter pizza. Mine was pepperoni, the wife had a veggie. The pizzas looked right, square, caramelized crispy edges, heavy toppings... and then on the side of the plate was this cup of ranch dressing. Duh! "Ranch" obviously has to have a good ranch, right? I dipped my pinky finger in the ranch and took a taste. You would not think one ranch can be so far ahead of the others, but ranch is the place for ranch, as well as pizza. My first bite brought a smile to my face, it was just, right in every way that a Detroit pie should be. I have been back to try their #4 pie with sausage and ricotta, and I am looking forward to more trips. If all that was not enough, the service was friendly, the food came out so quick (about 10 minutes) and the place was nice and clean.

If you're in or planning to be in Portland, Oregon, I respectfully and enthusiastically recommend you include Pizza Kat in your considered alternatives. A thin, flexible, and tasty-all-by-itself crust. Tomato sauce that adroitly walks the lines between sweet and acidic, and between supporting the other elements well, fading into obscurity, and overwhelming those other elements. The right amounts of the right cheeses. And fresh, tasty toppings. (Sweet Italian sausage not dominated by garlic and mushrooms worth eating on their own, for two delicious examples.) Even better, prices are reasonable, and delivery is available. We had some delivered to our hotel, and it arrived almost as hot and tasty as we would have expected were we at a table near the ovens. There are other pizzas worth eating -- including the thicker-crust "deep cut" slices available before and after select shows at Revolution Hall. But when you want the thin-crust version done right, Pizza Kat will leave your taste buds and tummy purring, without clawing the life out of your wallet.

Unfortunately, this was both our first and last visit. I don't think I've ever disliked a pizza before, but this may be the first one I would genuinely call bad. I enjoy wood-fired pizza and don't mind a little char, but somehow this pizza tasted noticeably bitter despite having very little visible charring. Whether it was the lack of sauce, the sauce itself being quite bland, or simply an imbalance of flavors, the end result just wasn't pleasant. The biggest issue is the value. A $25 cheese pizza doesn't need to be life-changing, but it should at least taste better than Costco's. In this case, unfortunately, it didn't. If your goal is to enjoy great pizza, I'd recommend one of the many other pizza spots in the area instead.

We have had repeated issues specifically with takeout orders, over many years. Additionally, if you dine-in, there is an entire bottle of oil on the table that you are encouraged to use on your pizza. It is delicious, and really completes the pizza flavor profile! They used to automatically include two small containers of oil per pizza if you ordered to-go. Current policy appears to be to not include any oil with the pizza (unless explicitly asked) and to only provide a maximum of two oils (even if multiple pizzas are ordered). I don't know if there is an oil shortage or what, but this is silly for a place that charges so much for their pizza. Life of Pie is a typical Portland restaurant that expects you to tip before you receive your food (and also expects you to bus your own table). To me, this expectation alongside with the inconsistency of the food for the price, is disappointing, and does not encourage people to go out of their way to return. When the food is good it is a solid place, however I would expect much more consistency for the price they command.
