Dave's Master Floor Care - More sanding scratches

I needed my engineered hardwood floors refinished, and the first company I contacted barely looked…read moreat them before telling me they were too far gone and needed to be replaced. Thankfully, I got a second opinion from Dave's Master Floor Care. Dave carefully inspected the entire floor and explained that refinishing was possible -- and he delivered outstanding results with good value. Dave is thorough and an excellent communicator. He explained the types of wear on my floors and outlined his refinishing strategy step by step. With little room for error on this type of flooring, I appreciated his clear approach -- there's no "undo" button with refinishing! Dave also has tools I've never seen before -- it felt like he had a gadget for every challenge that came up. Plus, he's been doing this for years, so he knows how different stains and woods react. I even learned a bit along the way. And the best part? Dave does the work himself. Sometimes he brings an assistant to help with simple stuff, but you're really hiring him -- not a random crew. After seeing what he did with the floors, I also had him fix some big cracks in my garage and driveway too. Same story: great work, no fuss. If you want someone knowledgeable, equipped, and detail-oriented, I highly recommend Dave's Master Floor Care.

I found Dave through Yelp and, as usual, I am always a little suspicious of contractors I find…read morethrough an app but Dave really put my mind at ease once I spoke to him and heard how knowledgeable he was about flooring. He provided a consultation for my indoor floors, but then I had him also look at my garage floor and he said he was able to do the work I was looking for, which is what I will be reviewing here today. I had a few cracks in my garage floor and was looking to Epoxy it to protect it for the winter. Dave explained to me his process and how it differs from the competition which helps keep his cost low. The best part about Dave was that he stuck to the quote he gave me, with no surprises or additional ask for money, and he started when he said he would, got the job done quick, and finished when he said he would - anyone who has worked with contractors before knows this is a rarity! Dave was respectful and treated the place with care, and I would recommend his work to others. We think the garage looks great! Dave is passionate about his work and did tend to over-explain some things to me, so some people might enjoy that more than others but it was great to hear how much he knew about the subject!

Do NOT HIRE this company. I have hired them twice. I should have known better from the first…read moreexperience. I thought it was an anomaly. Both projects were a disaster. The first project was to paint a small bedroom ceiling. The painters arrived on the first day, left for lunch, and never returned. Two days later, one of the painters showed up unannounced. He sprayed the ceiling poorly and completely ignored spot-treating a water stain, all in the quote. He left for lunch and never returned until the next day. We had to have another company at our home painting the entire main level, and repaint the ceiling to fix the terrible job. We felt like we dodged a bullet. We were planning on having Slavic complete the whole project. BUT Nick Slavik's advertising keeps showing up in my mailbox EVERY WEEK! And it's impossible that a company that markets so well, is this successful AND IS CONSISTENTLY performing poor work, RIGHT?. I'll try them again. The second job was to enamel the wood trim, windows, four closet doors, and the inside of the bedroom door. I walked through our home and showed the estimator that all the other doors in the house were caulked and enameled--some from the original builder and others from a different painting contractor in the past 2 years. I also retrieved the paint cans with codes for the ceiling paint and enamel previously used at the estimator's request. He took photos of the cans' labels with the paint codes and type. Not that it mattered, but they used what they wanted from another retailer anyway. Unbelievable! Why ask? By the way, we had previously used Benjamin Moore. From the start, things went south. They wanted to get our project on a schedule/calendar, and we agreed on the start date. Then, two or three emails arrived asking to start earlier, and I agreed. Later, they changed it to another day, and finally, another email, and the original day was planned. Nick Slavic Painting did a horrendous job! Be prepared! Inexperienced painters, who I am assuming are told to "get in and get out!" They did not putty nail holes in any of the wood trim. Before I stopped counting, I counted at least 13-14 nail holes in the wood trim. They left unfilled cracks in the wood trim and only sprayed one coat instead of two. One day, standing out on our deck while they were painting the windows, still hung, another first. I've never seen a painter not remove the windows to paint them. I noticed they had missed the entire top of the windows--something I would not have seen until summer, while on the deck above. A company that wants to cash a check and not care if the job was done correctly or not! Get ready for one excuse after another when they start, all the way to the end. And you better not pay them before you are 100% happy. Nick doesn't care! Also, you should expect their painters to stand around for two hours at the end of the day to get their hours logged while doing nothing. Time that could have been spent doing better work! I repeat! DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY! In response to Nick's Response: The same people who made me chase them around for an answer or solution to your poor workmanship for 2 weeks? The same estimator who walked through the home, pointing out all the caulked doors on his first visit? Someone has a problem with the truth. I was respectful and patient with you, project coordinator, painters, and estimator throughout the fiasco. It wasn't until you made me chase and chase to get a resolution, all while you held up a complete lower-level remodeling project. Your answer was, "Read your contract". I have been in business for 39 years. I would never dream of treating a customer like Nick and his team treated me.

My wife looked at it and it was not filled where he sanded it looked as he just sanded and spray it so fast it look not professional like I see some pictures. I asked to redo the job and the owner said I just refund you half of your money. He never did. He fought for all of his money and now the paint is chiping around the drain. Don't let this company sand or paint your tub or shower. They don't take pride in there work! All the workers get paid by the job so the faster there in and out of your home the more money the guys make. That make us home owners get unprofessional quality work!! My bank is get all my money back. Had another company come out and shared there professional experience on how poor there work was. This other company redone our shower it was amazing! The preparation of the other company took 8 hours to prepare for the next day to spray. It came out like a brand new shower!!!

She placed plastic on the walls, sink and vanity to protect them during the job. I am amazed and how quickly the job was done and I wish I would've done it years ago. That alone should let you know how we feel about their superior work and professionalism. For this project we wanted to install hardwood floors in our living room and upstairs landing. We just wanted to tie all the rooms together since Dave's did another job about a year ago. Everything is simple from the quote, demolition, installation and sanding to the finish. Communication is great and you always know where they are in the progress. Absolutely no surprises is the 3 times we have used them. Kelly did our second job and we requested him to do this job too. He is the absolute best. A perfectionist and super cool guy. Another awesome job by Dave's Flooring and the only flooring company I recommend to my friends.

After I complained they scraped off the poly and somewhat fixed the corners. Not great, but better. Applied one more coat and then the final coat so I got one less coat then I paid for. First time they left the doors unlocked, second time they left them not only unlocked but wide open in sub zero weather. The house was vacant so I guess they thought that was ok. When I asked them about it they said it was hard to lock old doors and hard to make old floors look good. I thought that was what they did? It was a 1940's house so not ancient. They have every excuse in the book ready when you call to complain. Not the same floor company I used to get for all my rehabs. Very sub par work which it appears to be from a variety of sub contractors. Sad that what was once a good business is now just a scam operation cutting corners whenever they can. Check all reviews - wish I had.
