Came here for the first time today. The shop has a nice modern aesthetic and was clean. Lester took care of me, left me looking fresh with a nice haircut and amazing lines on my beard. I've had a lot of bad experiences with Barbers and my beard, Lester was the most attentive and best I had. I'd recommend this place to anyone looking for a stylish cut! I saw someone walk out because of how bad his hair cut turned out and then my hair cut took over 1.5 hours for something that had so many miscues. The guy clearly has never worked on a beard before and could have said so, but he barely even touched it and they still were trying to charge me. Had to have been brand new/not sure if he even has a barber's license. $55 for a hair cut that took over 1.5 hours and was below average. That's why I'm writing this review. Jimmy made sure he understood what I wanted and jumped in there. Super clean fade, spent lots of time ensuring I liked my cut before I left. So as I stood there waiting for some type of customer service or response and all the barbers acted like I wasn't standing there asking a question. One barber points to another and that barber doesn't even talk just shakes his head no so that's when I walked out. When my barber Jeff made the move from up here in SCV to this new Champions in North Hollywood I didn't hesitate to make my next appointment. Right at Tujunga and Ventura, this is in your typical Valley mini mall with a coffee shop, smoke shop and restaurants but have never found parking to be an issue. The work Jeff does speaks for itself but this Champions always has games on the TV's surrounding the room, great banter with the barbers and clients along with a relaxing place to just shoot the shit. After searching for the 5-star barbershop, I came across Champions Barbershop. This place accepted me like a Champion as soon as I walked through the door. I also walked out like a Champion as well. The environment is definitely a game changer and the staff is prepared for what you need. You can get a cut, shave, facial wax, and brows with various kinds all done here at the same time while you are in the chair. I value this place for caring about the work they actually do. Every time I get a cut from Champions, I get complimented by strangers the hour I walk out. It is one thing to know and see that you got a nice cut, and another when you know that plus others telling you " hey you....nice haircut." Depending on the time you come here, parking is usually available. During rush hour, there can be traffic inside the parking lot but there is plenty of parking all around the place. They provide a variety of drinks while you wait for your appointment or turn and during the cut as well. That is going the extra mile which you will definitely love. Pricing is very fair. You get what you pay for no doubt. I want to mention Lestor for giving me the sharpest cut ive had. He is like a surgeon when it comes to style. The verdict is this. I called to make an appointment at this barbershop and was told they had a 3:45pm available, which I took. They stressed I should be on time or call if I wasn't going to make it. I showed up at 3:40pm. The barber assigned to me (didn't catch his name) was still finishing his previous client's cut. I waited as he finished and was appalled when around 4:05pm, this barber's other client just walks in and sits in the chair as he's cleaning up. The barber showed no regard for me until it was brought to his attention that I was first and had been waiting. He came to me and asked me if I could leave and come back in 30 minutes and explained he had a 4pm and it wasn't his fault the previous client ran over. If he had a 4pm, why did he book me for 3:45pm? To cut my hair in 15 minutes (not a buzz cut)? Feeling disrespected and upset, I was about to leave until Carlos caught wind of what was going on and told me he would take care of me. I give this place one extra star only because I can't remember the name of the barber who cut my hair. I saw other barbers there before who I liked quite a bit. For example, Liz. Unfortunately, she wasn't working today so I ended up with someone else. About 8 min into the session I realized that I should have waited for barber I know. Long story short, after 3 attempt to fix the uneven and weird looking haircut I decided to cut my losses instead of hair and retreat before my hair gets to the point when it's unsalvageable. I'm sure this guy has some other strong skills. I saw him before doing fades and other stuff that looked great. I was a walk in, felt very welcome immediately. There's a lot of barbers in so I'm sure there's rarely a wait, which is amazing. I was lucky enough to get a barber by the name of Carlos. He did a very good job on my fade considering that my hair was over six inches long. He also did a perfect beard trim and shape which looks like like he used a laser, so awesome. If you have COVID-19 concerns don't come here. Even though there is a large sign that states "You must wear a mask to enter" this is not enforced at all, especially by the manager. In fact it was his customer who I saw not wearing a mask the entire time he was there. At first, when the customer came in not with a mask on I thought, "ok this guy will put one on once he sits down". Nope. Then I thought ok well this guy is sitting in the managers chair and they clearly will enforce it once they get started. Again nope! The manager just put on the cape and started cutting this dude's hair. Why have the sign if you won't enforce the policy? Shouldn't the manager of all people be the one enforcing this rule? I canceled my appointment with my barber and now he lost money and a client. I will never step foot in the shop again because if you can't count on the one person to enforce the rules during a pandemic who can you? Not to mention the plan disregard it shows for his fellow co workers health and the health of other clients. read more
