As parents we all just want what's best for our kids, and it's so hard to sort through information. I'll admit that I feel for the scam of CPA and Chris. I saw the positive reviews and ignored what some other parents had told me. While the team here are okay coaches the entire experience of a workshop with them left me with such a horrible taste in my mouth. I always look to adults who work in youth sports with skepticism. I should have followed my instincts. My daughter came home in tears after working with the team at this facility. It wasn't because it was hard, but because they break you down to install a "championship" mentally that is just made up psychology that teaches you how inadequate you are. It's like the coaches only psychology training was learned from books by pick up artists books who think "negging" is only motivator. They then tell you how much your skills are improving but my daughter's skill didn't improve at nearly the rate of many of her teammates working elsewhere. In talking with other parents with negative experiences we realize it is time to make sure other parents know what they are getting into. Someone I know called this place a cult and I couldn't agree more. I hope more parents have the courage to come forward. It's so important. I noticed that after some negative reviews popped up CPA had a bunch of positive reviews all posted within a few hours of each other. Review manipulation???? My daughter came to CPA specifically to gain solid foundations in her setting. She was a good athlete who started volleyball as a freshman in high school and was good enough as an athlete to get by with relative success for a few years playing indoor volleyball. She made the decision to make indoor volleyball her priority after year two, but knew she needed more position specific training to maximize her talent. Initially we committed to very regular training sessions, making the trip from Santa Barbara 2-3x/ week the first summer. I cannot emphasize enough how crucial that time was in developing her footwork and hands. Admittedly our availability to get to CPA has fallen off since that time. However, their ability to accommodate our schedule when we are able to squeeze in a few sessions has always remained outstanding. Fast forward two years and we now have a committed Division I setter who is consistently complimented on her footwork, calm demeanor, and IQ. All of which have been dramatically influenced by her hours at CPA. Although most of our sessions have been with Chris, the entire team has contributed to our willingness to come back, to invest, to become part of the CPA family. My daughter had a goal/goals.
